HTC 8XT vs HTC One (Video)

The HTC 8XT. It’s Sprint’s first Windows Phone in literally years, and it’s one of the only HTC devices in the carrier’s lineup. So say you’re stuck choosing between this and the much-ballyhooed HTC One. Besides software, are there really that many differences between the high-end offerings from Microsoft ...

The LG G2 is destined to disappoint

LG has made no secret of the fact that it will announce its new G2 flagship in a week, premiering on August 7. The name’s official, the SoC’s official, and LG has even begun announcing G2 accessories – it really seems at times that this launch event has just become a formality, and the G2′s as good as out there already. ...

Google missed one thing with the new Nexus 7

When rumors started to surface about the new Nexus 7 – as opposed to the old Nexus 7 I suppose (what are they going to call it next year?) – I was disappointed. Google was delivering on so much including a fast processor, plenty of RAM, LTE, and a whole bunch of jiggly goodness. But one part of the rumor’s felt sour to me – $229. Two hundred and twenty nine dollars. It just felt….off. Last year, Google introduced their first generation Nexus 7 at the sub-200 dollar price point. This is not a small thing. Please don’t misunderstand. I’m not quibbling ...

Android-powered Panasonic DECT phone announced

Android is now powering all sort of consumer electronics — yes, we’re still waiting for the Android dishwasher (Tony), alongside the webOS toaster (Michael) — and Panasonic has announced a DECT (digital cordless) phone running on Google’s operating system. The Panasonic KX-PRX120 looks like a smartphone, and also acts like one. Don’t hold your breath for specs though: 3.5 inch TFT HVGA screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS (like you’d take it outside the base range), .3MP webcam, 1450mAh battery, microSD card slot, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. No ...

Leaked pictures reveal Samsung Galaxy Note III internals

We’re not sure what to make of all the recent Samsung Galaxy Note III rumors and leaks, since the South Koreans are doing a great job, usually, at keeping things under wraps. Sure, we’ve seen some prototypes pictured in the past, but they might have nothing in common with the final product expected to be unveiled at IFA 2013, at the beginning of September. Now this pair of images, allegedly depicting prototype Samsung Galaxy Note III internals, seem to show, for the first time, the interior of the upcoming ...

Those who are waiting anxiously for the Motorola Moto X have little more than a day to hang on. ASUS entering the US phone market next year?

After the rather successful launch of the Nexus 7 last week — and after a streak of interesting devices launched this year — ASUS is finalizing its plans to enter the American market with its smartphones. The US is rather tough when it comes to phones, something LG, Sony, and even Nokia can testify to. In a recent interview with AllThingsD, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said that the company has been taking its time and building its relationships with carriers, a necessary step to even stand a chance on the market. “I think next year is more reasonable” than 2013, Shih ...

Samsung Galaxy S4 Active phones dying a horrible drowning death, warranty won’t cover it

Remember the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active? That’s the ruggedized version of the S4 that Samsung introduced in London. Needless to remind you of the ads that are encouraging people to use the phone underwater. We’ll just tell you that both on stage in London, and behind it, in the demo area, the key feature of the phone emphasized was its ability to take pictures under water. They even had a tank filled with water, and S4 Active devices. We
