As Houseparty grows, Google Duo updated to add upto 12 friends on video call

Google Duo has rolled out support for adding up to 12 people on a group video call as rival Houseparty is busy taking the Internet by storm. Sanaz Ahari, Senior Director of Product and Design at Google announced the update to Duo on Twitter in wake of the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Earlier, Google Duo supported a total of 8 people on a video call like all other popular video calling apps, except for Facebook Messenger that supports up to 50 people on a video call. With the new update, you can get together 12 of your friends or family members on the same video call and have a fun time together.

There's a surge in group video calling these days as countries are in lockdown, leaving people in self-quarantine to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. As such, a particular app is gaining a lot of traction on social media.

Chances are you might be aware of a new app that seems to have popped up from nowhere, Houseparty. The company considers itself a social networking platform and borrows certain elements that we've come to experience on mainstream apps like Snapchat and Instagram.

Houseparty is more like a casual take on video chatting and aims to make these conversations fun by adding trivia games to the app like Heads up, Chips and Guac, and quick draw. So you and your friends can play some games on the app while seeing each other's faces. You can also allow the app to connect to your Facebook account for adding friends quickly.

Houseparty is available on iOS, Android, macOS, and as a Chrome Extention for Windows; however, you can only play the built-in games on phones.

Motorola Razr at Rs 1,24,999 is outrageous for you to even care about it

Motorola has finally launched its nostalgia-driven clamshell foldable phone, the Moto Razr in India, and it's going to cost you an arm and a leg. While the phone was unveiled way back in November 2019, the company took its own sweet time to bring it to India.

To that effort, Samsung one-upped Motorola, and its latest Galaxy Z Flip made it to the country before the Razr, giving it a first-mover advantage. However, Samsung's version of the flip phone isn't as nostalgic as the new Razr and is every bit a flagship phone for its asking price.

Motorola Razr, on the other hand, costs Rs 1,24,999 in India, which is rather expensive pricing. We understand that as a new sector in the development of smartphones, foldable screens are still in infancy, however, shelling out more than a lac on the phone still sounds as ridiculous as it should, even if you dip it in all the nostalgic nectar.

Motorola Razr goes on sale in India starting April 2 on Flipkart. As part of the launch offers, Citibank debit and credit cardholders are entitled to a cashback of Rs 10,000 on the purchase of the new Moto Razr. The company is also offering a MotoCare Accident Damage Protection Plan at a special price along with the Razr.

Motorola Razr specifications

Motorola Razr features a 6.2-inch plastic OLED screen that folds in half to make up the clamshell form factor. The display offers an HD (2142 x 876 pixels) resolution and has a notch cutout on the top that houses the selfie camera.

The chassis is made from aluminum, while the back is plastic with textures that give you a decent grip when holding in hand. The phone is also splash resistant against water; however, it is recommended not to take it for a swim.

When folded in half, there's a second, quick view display that measures 2.7-inches and has an 800 x 600 pixels resolution.

The Razr is powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 710 chip with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 616 GPU. This is paired with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage with no slot for expansion.

The primary camera uses a 16MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture followed by a 3D ToF depth sensor supported by gyroscope based electronic image stabilization. As for selfies, there's a 5MP camera housed just above the screen with an f/2.0 aperture.

The chin at the bottom houses a bunch of different sensors along with a fingerprint reader. The battery onboard is rated at 2,510mAh with support for 15W fast charging.

Over 6 million players dropped into Call of Duty Warzone battle royale on day one

Call of Duty Warzone has amassed over 6 million players in just about 24 hours after going live. The free-to-play, cross-platform battle royale title comes from the house of Activision and is an extension of its flagship AAA title-- Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2019).

However, you don't need to purchase the full game to drop into the Warzone as the latter is a standalone installation that lets you experience the world of Modern Warfare in a battle royale style.

On March 12, the twitter handle of Call of Duty revealed that they hit over 6 million players in the first 24 hours, which is quite an impressive feat. In comparison, Apex Legends reportedly garnered 2.5 million players in the first 24 hours of its release.

Call of Duty Warzone: How to play

Call of Duty Warzone is set in Verdansk with two modes of play: Battle Royale and Plunder. One hundred fifty players are dropped into the city, and they fight till last squad standing. Right now, a team comprises of three players, but the developers will hopefully let you add up to 5 players soon.

The Plunder mode is a bit different from the typical Battle Royale style as players are tasked with collecting cash, and the first squad to gather more than 1 million wins the round.

Warzone is a standalone installation that you can download from the Battenet app for PC, PS4, or Xbox One. If you have previously purchased the game, the Warzone update is around 18GB - 22GB in size; otherwise is an 80GB separate installation.

These amusement areas will also have arcade machines that players can interact with using tokens. Additionally, reverse bungee machines will spawn in these parks that will let players launch in the air and glide using a wingsuit.

DBS Shotgun added

The latest update adds DBS Shotgun, a double-barrel pump-action shotgun that can be obtained through airdrops. It can hold 14 rounds of 12 gauge ammo and features a faster reloading speed than other shotguns in the game. It can be equipped with holographic, red dot sight and 2x, 4x, and 6x scopes.

The DBS shotgun is perfect for close quarter combats and is very efficient in inflicting damage and reloading.

Royale Pass Season 12

Hardcore Mode is returning to PUBG Mobile with the latest 0.17.0 update. In this mode, players will have to do everything manually, from opening the door to picking up ammo for your weapons. To make the experience a tad bit exciting, there is no sound prompt if enemies approach you, so players need to keep their eyes open for surprise attacks.

There is a new Arctic map that's being added with the latest update under the EvoGround mode. The map is based in Vikendi, with players having to deal with arctic storms and keep themselves warm throughout the night. It's like a survival mode where players will have to gather branches and sticks to light a fire to fight the cold temperatures.

Death Replay, Universal Mark, Colourblind mode and more

The latest version of PUBG Mobile brings the much-awaited Death Replay feature that lets players witness their elimination from the round. It comes in handy for players who want to learn the mechanics of the game and keep an eye out for the last man standing in a better way moving forward.

Vivo Nex 3S 5G is set to launch in China on March 10

Vivo will take wraps off of its latest flagship smartphone, the Vivo Nex 3S 5G, on March 10 in China. The company took Weibo to share a teaser of the phone in question. The Nex 3S 5G succeeds the Nex 3 from last year with a nearly bezel-less screen and flagship performance.

To recap, the Nex 3 features a waterfall display that rounds up alongside the edges and is powered by Snapdragon 855 Plus chip with 64MP triple cameras on the back, including support for 44W fast charging. It's likely the Nex 3S will be an extension of these features as has been hinted by a recent leak.

According to a TENAA listing, Vivo Nex 3S 5G is expected to feature a 6.89-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD+ (2256 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The display is expected to wrap around the edges, as seen on the Nex 3.

The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G support and is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB storage options to choose from.

Interestingly, the listing hints at the presence of three cameras, a primary 64MP sensor with a 13MP telephoto lens and a 13MP ultra-wide-angle lens. It could be the same setup as we've previously seen on the Nex 3. There's a 16MP front-facing camera as well, which could be housed in a pop-up mechanism on top.

The Nex 3S 5G can also be offered in different colors, as has been stated in the listing that mentions a Gold color option as well.

So this season is called Disavowed and brings a bunch of new elements to the game, including a new map, operator skill, warfare mode, and other in-game improvements.

Call of Duty Mobile is an immensely popular battle royale title that garnered 180 million+ downloads by the end of 2019. Call of Duty Season 4: What's new?

Call of Duty Mobile's latest update introduces the new Cage multiplayer map, which is an original battlefield design set in a construction site. It features three-lane access which is perfect for close quarter combats, keeping the game fast-paced.

While the developers assure us that there is no perfect cover on this map as the vertical structures make for an expansive view of the whole battlefield.

Features in Call of Duty: Black Ops III, the H.I.V.E gun has been added as an operator skill to the mobile game. Players will need to complete various objectives to unlock this special operator skill, such as playing multiplayer matches, using scorestreak, among others. The Hive gun can only be unlocked until March 11.

The new Season 4 of Call of Duty Mobile brings its first female operator- Urban Tracker along with the legendary character of Soap MacTavish, to the refreshed Battle Pass.

The developers have also revealed that they will be doing away with the zombie mode March 25 onwards as "the mode just didn't reach the level of quality" as they had expected earlier. The Nacht Der Untoten (Night of the Undead) zombie mode map, which was expected to be rolled out with this update, is also not being released for the global players.

However, clarifying its stance, the developers state that they could bring the Nacht Der Untoten map back after they are sure of its quality.

Hardpoint mode is now a permanent mode in Call of Duty Mobile. It is available in both multiplayer and ranked modes, but a player will have to be an Elite ranker to participate in a Hardpoint round.

In just about 2 minutes, Manu tweeted back with a picture of himself around a bunch of phones and hinted that the Redmi Note 9 was present in the image. Here's his tweet.

According to a recent report by 91Mobiles that cites industry sources, Xiaomi is preparing to launch the Mi 10 series alongside the Redmi 9 series in India, sometime by March 15. Keeping that in mind and considering Xiaomi's recent tease, it's possible that the company could announce the Redmi Note 9, Redmi 9, and Mi 10 together.

However, we're likely reading too much between the lines. Another report published in December 2019 states that the MediaTek Helio G70 chip powers the upcoming Redmi 9. This pits the successor of the Redmi 8 against the Realme C3 that incidentally is also powered by the same chip.

Currently, we don't have any information about the Redmi Note 9 series, but here's everything you should know about the Mi 10, Xiaomi's latest flagship phone.

Realme 6 and 6 Pro tipped to be priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 13,999

Realme is gearing to announce its next generation of mid-range smartphones in India, the Realme 6 and Realme 6 Pro. While the company is leaving no stones unturned in creating hype for the two phones ahead of its official launch on March 5, a new report states that the price of the Realme 6 could start at Rs 9,999 while the Realme 6 Pro could go on sale starting at Rs 13,999, on March 15.

Both the phones are also up for pre-booking for people who buy into the marketing hype at an advance payment of Rs 1,000. Pre-booking ensures that you don't have to go through the tiresome flash sale, that more often than not, goes in vain.

The report also gives us a glimpse at how the two phones look from the front, with Realme 6 expected to have a single punch-hole cutout while the 6 Pro is set to feature dual punch-hole cutout. Let's take a look at the rumoured specifications of both the phones.

Realme 6 and 6 Pro leaked specifications

Realme 6 Pro is confirmed to feature a Full HD+, 90Hz high refresh rate screen, however, the same cannot be said about the more affordable Realme 6. The 6 Pro is also said to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip whereas the Realme 6 could have MediaTek Helio P90 onboard. The phones will run Realme UI 1.0 out-of-the-box.

Both the phones have punch-hole cutouts on the front for selfie cameras, however, in the case of 6 Pro, there are two front-facing snappers.

Realme 6 series will come with quad cameras consisting of a primary 64MP primary sensor, an ultra-wide-angle lens, a telephoto lens, and a macro camera. The phones also support 30W fast charging via USB Type-C.

The expected pricing of Realme 6 falls in line with the launch prices of last year's Realme 5 series. Realme will also announce their first wearable product, the Realme Band alongside the phones on March 5.
