Samsung has been launching true wireless earbuds with each new flagship smartphone series for the past couple of years, dating back to 2018 when it launched the Gear Icon X. It appears that Samsung will continue the trend when it launches the Galaxy S21 series early next year. As per a SamMobile report, Samsung is planning a successor to the Galaxy Buds+ that will debut at the next Galaxy Unpacked event for the Galaxy S21 family’s debut that will reportedly be held in January.
Notably, the new Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds will come with two major improvements – ANC and an improved ambient mode. To recall, the first-gen Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+, both miss out on Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which was a major disappointment since a host of other brands offered earbuds with ANC around the same price point. Samsung is reportedly going to address that shortcoming with its next true wireless earbuds.
The Galaxy Buds+ successor is expected to rock the same in-ear design, which is good news, as that approach blocks the ear-canal more effectively to provide a batter noise cancellation experience. The bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live also offer ANC, but many users pointed out that their cancellation is not up to the mark, primarily due to the half in-ear design. While Samsung’s approach was novel and the Galaxy Buds Live delivered on many other parameters, their design proved to be an undoing for their noise cancellation prowess.
SamMobile’s report also adds that the new Galaxy Buds series earbuds will also offer an improved ambient mode. In case you’re unfamiliar, ambient or awareness mode allows the passage of external sounds through the earbuds, ensuring that users are aware of what’s happening in their surroundings. However, it is unclear how much they will cost, and if Samsung is going to refresh the color palette this time around.

These are some of the best Apple deals for Black Friday
Alright, we’ve decided that this deals segment needs to grow when the demand calls for it, and come on, it’s Black Friday week. Since today we’re talking Apple for the hottest news, let’s begin with Apple deals. Like yesterday, we’re gonna start this off with trade-in deals first, as you can currently get the iPhone 12 Pro for $370 off, if you have an eligible device, leaving the entry level model for $629. The 12 Pro Max is getting the same treatment, leaving that at $729. Moving on to Macs, the Intel 13in MacBook Pro is $150 off, leaving the Intel Core i5, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD variant for $1649. The 16in MacBook Pro is $260 off, that leaves the Core i7, 6GB of RAM and 512GB of storage model for $2150. Finally, the old Intel MacBook Air is $100 off, that leaves the entry level model for $899. Again these are Intel models which is kind of a bummer but they’re still good machines. Now, iPads! The 11in iPad Pro, Wi-Fi only model with 512GB of storage is available for $100 off, leaving it at $999. The latest iPad Air is also $40 off, that leaves the entry level variant for $559. And guys, this segment is already pretty long so we have more deals on other Macs, other iPads, the Apple Watch and even some Beats products in the links in the description.
Oh, that was just Apple’s section. For all you Samsung fans, This is a quick reminder of the deals they continue to have, which make it really compelling to get their latest devices. Just keep in mind that these deals depend on you having an eligible device to trade in. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available for the same $1000 we mentioned yesterday, but now in both color options and the customizable hinge. The Note 20 Ultra is available for $550 and the regular Note 20 for a crazy $250. Moving on to the S Series, you can get the S20 for $390, the S20+ for $540 and the Ultra for $740, might makes them a tough pick given the crazy deal for the Note 20 Ultra. To end with Samsung, you can also get the S20 FE for $140 so, again, all these deals apply if you have an eligible device to trade in. Sticking to Samsung and their trade-ins, the Galaxy Watch 3 is also available for $140 and the Titanium version is available for $300. Pretty much half of for both of them. We also have deals on the Galaxy Buds, the Watch Active 2 and more in the description.
Black Friday gives us Motorola, Google and more Samsung deals
And no worries, we’re not done. That was just the Apple and Samsung section for today’s deals, We’ve got more on other companies as well.. Let’s move on to Google smart speakers, for example the Nest Hub is $40 off, leaving it at $50 shipped. The Home Max is $150 off, leaving it at $149. They also have some bundles like the Nest Audio 2 pack for $30 off, leaving it at $170. Moving on to Moto, the RAZR 5G is $400 off, leaving it at $1000 shipped. The Edge is also $300 off, leaving that at $400 shipped. We also have deals on the G Power, G Stylus and more. HyperX is also having a huge sale on their keyboards headsets and more. Their Alloy Origins Keyboard is $300 off, leaving it at $80. Their HyperX Cloud Stinger Core headset is $10 off, leaving it at $29 shipped on Amazon. We have even more deals in the links in the description.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip successor might rock a 120Hz display and slimmer bezels
Fine, let’s now move on to news. If you tuned in yesterday, one of the things we talked about is that we would be getting the next Galaxy Z Flip, later than the Galaxy S21 unlike last year where we got them at the same event. Well, according to some new reports from the Elec this phone was actually delayed, mainly to push production for the Galaxy S21 and because of what we covered yesterday which said that Samsung doesn’t want new products to mess with their regular sales as the Galaxy Note might disappear. The report also adds that Samsung might launch anywhere between three to five foldables next year, maybe they’re adding more phones to each line-up with different price points. On another note (pun intended), a new leak from Ice Universe says that this phone will actually be called the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and it will bring an improved 120Hz display, narrower bezels and it will get a cheaper price tag. Now, we don’t actually know how cheaper yet but, if they really want this strategy to succeed, they should at least price this and the Z Fold 3, somewhat closer to the Note’s price point.
We have new images of the Samsung Galaxy S21 or the Galaxy S21+
And yes, let’s keep talking about Samsung but this time for the Galaxy S21 and I guess you can say we’re in the home stretch when it comes to leaks for this phone. We have some new case renders for either the S21 or the S21+ telling by this design. They show the flat display which will either be 6.2in or 6.7in depending on the variant, both rocking 120Hz display rates at FHD+, kind of a downgrade when compared to the S20. At the back you can also see the camera array which is significantly smaller than the Ultra’s rocking three cameras which consist of a 12MP main sensor, a 64MP telephoto and a 12MP ultra wide. A while ago we also had other case renders for the Ultra but we didn’t do a daily that day and, the thing about it is that all we can see is the camera array and not the display. We’re expecting an event to happen sometime around January 14 so let’s see, things should only get more interesting from here.
Story of the day:
Redesigned MacBooks with Apple silicon are coming in H2 2021: Kuo
And finally the hottest news today have to do with Apple, the fact that we still can’t believe how good those M1 MacBooks are, and yet why you might wanna wait a little to buy. I mean sure, Cupertino just unveiled these new batch of computers, but the concerns of many are valid, they seriously look like the old ones in every way. It would make sense for anyone to want a re-design, and we also wonder what the next batch of Apple Silicon chips is gonna be able to do. Well, according to a new research note from Ming Chi Kuo, the next step in Apple’s two year transition away from Intel is redesigned MacBooks. Now, he didn’t really specify which models we’re getting, but he has previously said that we should expect a redesigned 16in and a 14in MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon that should launch in the second or third quarter of 2021. Based on other Kuo reports, we should also expect some new miniLED Macs and a lower priced iPad in the first quarters of the year. Now, when it comes to sales, he predicts that the demand for these M1 Macs is actually higher than expected, and the 12 Pro and Pro Max are actually stealing the show when it comes to iPhones as the demand for the regular 12 and the Mini is not as high. Finally, both Apple Watches are selling well thanks to the new health management functions and the improved design.

Other color options are also on sale, but they may not save you as much money.
I remember being fortunate to be a conscious adult already when the PDAs morphed into smartphones, and, as smartphones evolved, so did their accessories. In the early days, when the first Bluetooth headphones came out (those you could only use for talking on the phone), I remember looking at people who seemed to be talking to themselves while walking alone on the street.
Then I learned to spot the blinking blue or green LED in their ears and understand they’re having a hands-free conversation. Later people looked weird at me when I took a phone call on my wrist using a smartwatch, and society quickly caught up to understand and accept what was going on.
But without raising your wrist to your mouth or wearing headsets, as small as they’ve become, and still having a conversation while walking down the streets, now that’s a serious mental illness, at least in the minds of those who watched me doing it. Or is it?
Whether we like it or not, smartglasses are here, and will slowly become part of our lives. I’ve been using a pair recently, and this is my HUAWEI Gentle Monster Eyewear II review.
What are they?
Gentle Monster is a rather popular South Korean glasses brand, with celebrities like Gigi Hadid, Rihanna, and Beyonce as their customers.
The Eyewear II, as its name implies, is the second collaboration between HUAWEI and Gentle Monster after the first model in 2019.
It comes in four models split into two categories: Smart Havana and Smart Kubo for the optical glasses, as well as Smart Myma and Smart Lang (the one we have) for the sunglasses.
HUAWEI basically took these Gentle Monster glass models and made them smart, crossing them over with a pair of headphones, if you will, equipping them with antennas, batteries, speakers, microphones, and a lot of tech in general (more in the Hardware segment below).
As with any HUAWEI product in the past years, the entire experience is premium. You don’t get much in the box, but what you do get is pretty high quality.
You get the Eyewear II inside its protective case, which is also its charging station, and a USB cable to plug inside a charger that you already own, or a computer, and the other end inside the charging case.
Additionally, you get some literature to help you set them up, as well as a microfiber cleaning cloth.
Make sure you peel all the plastic off of the Eyewear II. They are shiny glossy black, and there’s a lot of plastic wrap out of the box to protect them.
Design and materials
When it comes to the design of glasses, whether they’re optical, or sunglasses like in our case, it’s all a matter of preference and physiognomy. Maybe you prefer aviator-style glasses or another shape, but can adapt to what HUAWEI is offering, or maybe it’s just spot on. You have four styles to choose from, pick the one you like.
In my particular case, I’m an aviator-guy, but I don’t look away when I see myself in the mirror wearing the Smart Lang, especially that I found them to be a good fit for my face, not too tight, not too loose, just spot on and comfortable.
As far as materials are concerned, they’re top-notch. So far they’ve been holding on in pristine shape. There was no abuse but there’s the occasional accidental rubbing them against a zipper or contact with the keys on the shotgun seat, but no wear and tear signs so far.
Also worth mentioning in this category that they are IP54 rated, which means they’re not fully waterproof, and these features “may deteriorate due to daily wear and tear”, HUAWEI says.
Moving away from the “glass” and towards the “smart” part, HUAWEI managed to cram a lot of technology inside the Eyewear II.
According to the official spec sheet, they weigh 44.2g, but they’re not at all uncomfortable to wear. Powering everything is a rechargeable Li-Po battery rated 85mAh, built inside the temple of the Eyewear II. That should, and in reality, does offer enough juice for five hours of music playback and 3.5 hours of voice calls.
Also on the temple, you’ll find one dynamic speaker on each side, while the two silicon microphones that pick up sound and cancel noise are located on the main frame temple.
Now, built into the temples you have a pinch sensor, a tap sensor, and a swipe sensor, in addition to the antennas that ensure Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity.
The protective/charging case is charging the Eyewear II wirelessly via NFC wireless fast charging technology. However, in order for that to happen, the smartglasses need to be inside the case, and the case needs to be connected to a power supply. We wish the case had its own battery so that you can at least top off the glasses once while out and about.
When you want to use the Eyewear II for the first time, you have to pair them up with your smartphone. We’ve used the HUAWEI Mate 40 Pro, and the entire process is seamless. Just like in the case of the Freebuds Pro, it is not mandatory but advised to have the AI Life app installed, which will give you easy access to settings, controls, and firmware updates.
After you make sure the Eyewear II is charged, you need to push the button located on the bottom of the charging case. Once you’ve done that, pinching the left temple will put the glasses in pairing mode, followed by confirming on your smartphone. That’s it!
Inside the AI Life app you can enable or disable wear detection of the glasses, which will automatically switch to them as the preferred audio input/output device when they sense they’re on, and back to the phone (or another accessory) when they sense they’re off.
You can also enable or disable the smart greeting, which will, depending on the time of the day, greet you with “Good Morning” for instance when you put them on.
The AI Life app is also the place to upgrade the firmware version of the glasses, which we have done twice during our review period, to the latest 22.214.171.124 version.
Taking calls and listening to music
When you receive a call while wearing the glasses, or initiate one, you can talk freely like you would with any other wireless headset on. The sound quality is excellent (more on that in the music paragraph below), and people on the other end said they heard us better than when talking on the actual phone.
When you listen to music, you have the advantage of not blocking out noise from the outside, but they’re still loud enough for you to enjoy your favorite tunes without distractions. The sound quality is really good, considering the small dimensions of the speakers. However, at higher volumes, some sound will leak out and will be heard by people in your immediate vicinity, something which is also valid for phone calls.
We especially liked the stereo separation, the wide soundstage, as well as the overall sound quality, which is lacking, if we really need to be picky, a little bit on the lower end. However, considering the convenience of never pulling your phone out from your pocket, and staying aware of your surroundings, they’re doing a great job.
Operating and gestures
Similar to the Freebuds Pro, the Eyewear II also relies on gesture control, hence all the sensors inside the temples. Using the AI Life app, you can customize these gestures to your liking. You have tapping gestures (which can be customized to Play/Pause, Wake AI voice, or none – on both temples), and sliding gestures where you slide your finger back and forth on the temples to adjust the volume or switch to the next/previous track, also optional on both temples.
Sunglasses and fashion
As I mentioned in the intro, when it comes to sunglasses as a fashion accessory, it all comes down to preference and taste. However, if the Eyewear II in any of its two sunglasses and two optical iterations are to your liking, they are a nice accessory to wear.
As a matter of fact, they’re more of a fashion statement than a wearable device, because people will mostly see you wear them, rather than hear you use them.
The ones we used are dark enough for bright sunlight, but you can also continue using them before sunset without a problem. Sadly we didn’t manage to wear them as much as we would have liked because of late autumn weather with cloudy rainy conditions, but we managed to get more than a couple of sunny days outdoor to test them out in real life with real traffic.
Pros and Cons
+ great design (subjective); + premium quality; + loud speakers; + sensitive microphone; + decent battery life.
– charging case doesn’t contain its own battery and needs to be plugged in; – sound leaks out at louder volumes; – lenses are highly reflective on the inside; – lenses are not polarized.
Buying the Eyewear II will set you back at the moment £310.00 in the UK, or €299,99 in France, and €329 in Spain. They’re only available in certain markets in the EU, and Asia Pacific.
Considering that a pair of regular, non-polarized sunglasses, say, from a company like Ray Ban, go for 110-150 pounds or euros, is the “smart” part in the Eyewear II worth just as much? Yes, and no.
While it ultimately comes down to your personal preference (and wallet), you still need a pair of headphones with your regular sunglasses in order to take calls or listen to music. If you already rock a pair, you’ll probably pass on the Eyewear II.
Also, there’s another variable to factor in: if you’re opting for the sunglasses, you’ll likely only use them outdoors and in bright sunny days, which, depending on your routine, could be a lot, or just a couple of days. Factor that in as well. When you talk about the optical versions, that’s a different story altogether.
And then, if you’re the type of person who loves tech and gadgets, and want to set yourself apart from the crowd, and even attract attention and questions from people, this should definitely be on your list of items to add to your gadget collection.

The company’s Black Friday sale is in full effect, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is currently available for just $1000 but, hold your horses, you have to trade in an eligible device. Actually many of these deals require a trade-in to sweeten the pot. For example, the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is available for a crazy $550, the regular Note 20 for $250 and the S20 FE for $140. Seriously, if you’re looking for a new phone, go check these deals out! And let’s be honest, Snapchat may be my least favorite service ever, but it’s probably the most copied service we’ve ever seen as. Look at Instagram stories, Whatsapp, Facebook, and even Twitter now with Fleets. Well, it looks like now they’re doing it to someone else. The company just launched a new feature called “Spotlight” which is basically made to compete with TikTok and Instagram’s “Reels” but, Snapchat’s got a trick up their sleeve. So, Spotlight let’s users showcase their 60 second videos which are focused on memes and jokes rather than your day to day life like stories where meant to. For the viewer, it will pretty much work like TikTok where the algorithm shows you content related to what you’ve seen in the past. The thing about it is that Snapchat will be paying creators to post on the platform, they will award $1M between the most popular creators on the app per day through the end of this year so, if you have a viral video you might get a piece of the $1M. Spotlight is currently launching to 11 countries so, if that’s your thing go check it out. Let’s hope this algorythm finally fixes their lack of good discovery.
New M1 MacBook Air has been found with 128GB for just $799
Let’s move on to Apple Silicon Macs as yes, Apple did end up making at least one of them more affordable, but there’s a catch. The latest M1 MacBook Air was spotted in Apple’s US Education Institute Hardware and Software list and it’s actually cheaper. This was found on Reddit and this is the regular 8-core CPU and 7-core GPU MacBook Air, with 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM for $799. The thing about it is that, this is strictly for education purposes so, if you work or study at a school that purchases these then you might get your hands on one but, it looks like that might be the only way. This is not a variant that consumers can buy in a store. And on another note, Craig Federighi, aka Mr Wiggle Mode himself, went on an interview and talked about M1 Macs running windows. Please stop trying to run Parallels on them. He claims that Windows could run on these Macs but it’s really up to Microsoft. Thing is since this version of Windows on ARM is emulated, who knows if that will happen. Can any of you imagine Windows running on these ARM chips like a champ?
iPad Pro to get OLED displays after adopting mini-LED in early 2021: Report
And since we’re talking Apple, let’s discuss their future plans for iPads, especially when it comes to the display technology they’re using. We’ve been covering rumors of miniLED iPads for years, but now according to a new report from The Elec, Cupertino is finally planning to adopt OLED displays for the iPad Pro line up. It seems there will be a wait, though, as we know that Apple is working on the transition to miniLED displays for Q1 of next year. The report claims that OLED displays on these will actualy happen shortly after, meaning also within 2021. These displays would be provided by Samsung but, it also says that the adoption of OLED could be delayed, depending on the scale of adoption of miniLED. Again, these miniLED displays are slated for Q1 while OLEDs should come later. This means that Apple might really just upgrade their current LCDs to miniLED and then eventually move on to OLED at least when it comes to iPads because, we know that miniLEDs should be a huge thing for Macs. Whatever the case may be, this might be what will differentiate the next generation of iPads and Macs in 2021, and let’s hope that enables new designs.
OnePlus 9 might sport two 48MP camera sensors
OnePlus 9 Pro leak gives us our first look at its design prior to a March 2021 debut
Now how about if we shift focus to Android and particularly the OnePlus 9 as, we’re expecting this phone to launch a little earlier than usual so the rumors are starting to intensify. Beginning with the regular variant, last week we got some CAD renders for it showing a new white color variant and a triple camera array. Now, we have a new leak from 91Mobiles that claims that the two main cameras from these renders are two 48MP sensors. This means we’ll get a 48MP primary that delivers 12MP images, as well as a 48MP ultra wide. The third and smaller lens would be a macro or monochrome sensor in typical OnePlus fashion. Now, moving on to the Pro variant, we have some new CAD renders from OnLeaks showing off the design changes. From these we can see some smaller bezels, a “Pacific Blue” colorway if you know what I mean, and the new camera array which is pretty similar to the one on the 8T. The 9 Pro is expected to bring a 6.7in display, probably running at up to 144Hz and it will be powered by the Snapdragon 875, or whatever the latest Qualcomm chip will be called. We’ll keep you posted as it’s expected to come some time in March, and I seriously wonder what is it with companies wanting to launch phones earlier next year.
Story of the day:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 might launch sooner than expected
And finally the hottest news today have to do with Samsung, and how the company plans to re-imagine their approach to flagships in 2021. We’ve covered the possibility of the Galaxy Note lineup saying goodbye, and today we get more credible information that goes beyond not seeing it in a listing. According to a new report from Korea, we might be getting this phone earlier the Galaxy Z Fold 3 earlier in 2021. The report suggests that Samsung is already working on this phone and it could possibly launch in June 2021. The report also mentions that this foldable could have support for the S-Pen like we’ve heard before. It also reiterates on the report we covered last week, that claims that we’re getting an under the display selfie shooter, even if we were expecting that until Q3. It also adds that Sammy was able to add an in-screen WACOM digitizer but, they still faced some difficulties with the protective layer which scratches with the S Pen but it’s sounding like they were able to fix it, maybe thanks to the new UTG we’re expecting. With all of the reports on the missing Galaxy Note 21, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra supporting an S Pen, it looks like Samsung is about to re-invent it’s approach to its second batch of product launches.

The budget OnePlus Nord N100 has a ‘high refresh rate’ surprise
Now let’s talk about OnePlus as the company has been in the spotlight quite a bit given all the product launches they’ve done this year. A few weeks ago, OnePlus unveiled two new budget smartphones, the Nord N10 5G and the N100. We’ll be focusing on the N100 for this segment because, this is supposed to be the cheaper and watered down one out of the pair but it looks like there was some hidden premium features in here. So to recap, it packs a punch hole HD+ display, the Snapdragon 460 SoC, a 5,000 mAh battery and a triple camera array with a 12MP main sensor. All of this for around $237, remember that price. Well, now that it’s out, the guys over at Android Authority discovered that the N100 actually packs a 90Hz refresh rate display. OnePlus didn’t specify on this so everyone just assumed it was a regular 60Hz panel which is good for that $200 price tag. So yeah, if you got this phone, make sure to turn that feature on as that 5,000 mAh battery should do a good job handling it.
New iPhone 12 display issues have caught Apple’s attention
If you’ve been watching us for the past year, you probably know that my display on my iPhone 11 Pro simply died on me after getting a weird tint. Well, it looks like the iPhone 12 might be going down that same path. Last weekend, some users started reporting issues with the 12 mini’s Lock Screen sensitivity, and iPhone 12 Pro users were having problems with the message app but, the most notable problems were display issues. Apparently some users were getting a green tint on the screen and some flickering but it looks like Apple noticed. The guys over at MacRumors recovered an internal document where Cupertino addresses this issue, saying that they are aware of the customer reports related to the problem and they’re actively investigating, telling technicians to avoid servicing these types of issues because there is no real fix at the moment but they should advice customers to update their phones. Back with the 11, Apple fixed it with iOS 13.6.1 so, let’s see when we get a fix, we’ll keep you posted. Thing is, my problem wasn’t fixed with a software update. The entire phone had to be replaced, so we’ll see.
Apple’s next mobile chip might rely on 5nm+ process, 4nm silicon likely arrives in 2022
Let’s keep talking about Apple but, this time about there chips, as let’s face it, Apple Silicon still has many of us in disbelief. We know that the A14 Bionic was the first chip in the market to bring a 5nm process, thanks to TSMC but, it looks like they’re already pushing smaller nodes. According to a TrendForce research note, Apple plans to use TSMC’s next generation “5nm+” process for the A15 chip that will come in the 2021 iPhones. TSMC’s website says that this 5nm+ process, refers to N5P which is a “performance-enhanced” version of their current 5nm process, which will deliver additional power efficiency and performance improvements. The report even goes further head to 2022, and they believe that the A16 will be built on a 4nm process, which paves the way for even more performance, power efficiency, and density improvements. This also hints that we might get these improvements in Apple Silicon chips, maybe with the M1X, M2 or whatever that thing is going to be called. Thing is, guys with that M1 mopping the floor with absolutely every Intel Mac we’ve compared on generation 1, can you imagine what gen 2 will be. We’ve never EVER recommended a first generation Apple Product, but this is the first exception.
Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra leaked renders show shows some seriously slim bezels
And I know, we’re still one segment away but let’s begin with the hottest news today which have to do with Samsung. Yeah, they’re so many we had to split them in two. First off, Ice Universe just went on a tweeting spree giving us a ton of new information on the upcoming Galaxy S Line. He started off by posting some new CAD renders of the S21 Ultra which shows us the new chin and side bezels which.. Let’s just say you won’t be able to tell a difference if you have an S20 Ultra. However, he does say that this will be the narrowest chin in mobile phone in history which is something Samsung has been perfecting over the years. Other than that the CAD renders show the USB-C port as well as the display’s footprint. Moving on from that he also posted some case molds where you can see the camera module for the S21 or the S21+, sadly you can only see the display side for the other 2. Finally he also said that the S21 Ultra’s screen will refresh multiple records, I’m not sure if that means we’ll be getting something like ProMotion or if it will just be a record-breaking display. Whatever the case may be, I’m already pretty excited for whatever this S21 Ultra is going to be.
Story of the day:
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 could have an under-display selfie camera
But, finally let’s move on to the other segment of the hottest news as we have more Samsung products and apparently, Samsung is bringing the heat until later in the year. Last month there was some rumors roaming around that claimed that Samsung would be introducing their first under-the-display camera with the Z Fold 3. Well, now there’s a new ETNews report that backs those rumors. According to an industry insider, Samsung Display has developed a new display that will support this UDC. Apparently they made the gap between pixels wider, to allow light to pass through and this will only be a thing in the selfie camera area, the rest of the display will be the same. That along with some special algorithms will correct images, as light is obviously refracted by the OLED Display to allow for the camera to work. This camera module will be supplied by LSI and apparently the technology won’t be ready by the Spring or early in the year, which is when we get the S Line or the Z Flip. So, we will reportedly get it with the Z Fold 3 in the third quarter of the year because, all of the rumors point to the Galaxy Note line disappearing. A new Ice Universe tweet also gives us backs this by saying the Z Fold 3 will bring a lot of innovating technologies, including this Camera Under the Panel, the S Pen and the second-gen UTG.

OPPO Find X3 series to come with system-wide 10-bit color support
OPPO got on the spotlight yesterday thanks to their new concept smartphone and the other things we got at their INNO Day Conference. Well, Day 2 just happened in China and, they just confirmed that they are working on the Find X3 Series. Now, we don’t have much information on what we’re getting here but, one thing they did say is that we will be getting a native 10-bit display on this phone. OPPO says that they’re R&D team is preparing new algorithms in areas like distortion-correction, multi-frame noise reduction and extreme super-resolution. It will support Digital Overlap HDR mode. Check out the links in the description for other technical details they mentioned but, the Find X2 Pro already had probably my favorite display of the year, so we’re not going to complain about it getting better.

Google offers an optimized version of Chrome for Macs with Apple’s M1 chip
Chrome gets a huge performance boost and a useful tab search tool
And since we started with Google, Let’s talk about Google Chrome as, the company is bringing some very interesting and welcome changes. Yesterday they announced v87, which is currently rolling out, and it gives Chrome its biggest boost in performance in years. You get upgrades like it opening 25% faster and page loading speed is going up by 7%, all while using less RAM and cutting down on the power consumption. They’re also adding other things like tab search, action buttons for better productivity and more. Something else we just got is an optimized version of Chrome for the new M1 Macs which we are testing as, the regular Chrome app quits pretty often if you’re not on the optimized version. Now, if you go to their website, you might not see the optimized one so if you’re rocking one, make sure to check out the link in our description to get it. So yeah, we hope Chrome works out all of their resource issues as they have been working on it for quite some time now.
Samsung might be working on a cheaper foldable phone called Galaxy Z Flip Lite
Samsung has really shifted their strategy towards foldables as of late and with those rumors of the Galaxy Note disappearing it makes a lot of sense. Well, a couple of days ago we covered a list of Samsung flagships that we should expect next year and a couple of them were cheaper foldables, one of them being a Z Fold FE and a a Z Flip Lite. Well, according to a new tweet from Ross Young, they are no longer hearing about a Z Fold Lite or FE anymore but apparently the Z Flip Lite is still on the table. What’s kind of impressive here is that Samsung will still be using their UTG technology on this phone, despite it being a cheaper device. This means that it won’t be as fragile as the original Galaxy Fold and it ensures some longevity. Of course this is still a rumor though, we are somewhat close to the Spring already which is when we got the original Z Flip. The thing about it is, we know that a lot of you guys are interested on foldables but the price tag is simply a deal breaker so, would you guys like a Z Flip Lite?
Story of the day:
Apple is halving its commission rate to 15% for most developers
And finally for the hottest news today, we have something that’s oddly for the ban section which Diego still hasn’t made graphics for. Well not really but, almost part of the ban section let’s move on to Apple. If you remember, the whole Apple vs Epic situation started because of Apple’s infamous 30% tax, which Epic Games wanted them to waive for customers to pay the actual value at which they sell their cosmetics. Well, you already know how that went but, it seems like Apple is doing something for smaller developers through their new “Small Business Program”. Cupertino just announced that they are lowering their commission to 15% but, it is strictly for developers that earned $1M or less in the previous calendar year. Apple mentions that this will benefit the vast majority of developers that sell digital goods and other services on the App Store, with this new Business Program launching on January 1st, 2021. They also said how small businesses are the backbone of the global economy and the beating heart of innovation and opportunity in communities around the world. For developers who surpass the $1M threshold, they will still get the 30% commission but, if somehow they fall below that $1M mark by the end of the year, they will be able to apply and get the 15% through the program. So, it looks like what Epic Games was doing did work, just not for them.
