Apple AirPods 3 not coming anytime soon: Report

We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors and speculations regarding the next iteration of Apple AirPods, which are being called the AirPods 3. It was recently reported that their launch is imminent as Apple plans a March 23 event. However, the latest report says otherwise. According to the recent developments, the Apple AirPods 3 aren’t launching anytime soon.

The development comes from MacRumors, which cites investors note from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst says that the mass production of the third-generation AirPods will begin in the third quarter of 2021. This means, the AirPods 3 aren’t launching anytime soon, as opposed to recent rumors. If the mass production begins in third quarter of 2021, the devices are likely to launch later in the year in Q4.

There have been various leaks – from live images to renders – that have given us a look at what to expect next from Apple. While it was said that the renders revealed the final version of the AirPods 3, it is now unclear if they are to be believed since the launch isn’t happening anytime soon.

According to previous rumors, the device is tipped to come without the support for the company’s noise-canceling feature. Apple is tipped to be developing a system-in-package (SiP) product containing Apple’s H1 chip, which is an AirPod audio driver chip, through a domestic materials partner. AirPods 3 are rumored to be around 20 percent lower than the price of the AirPods Pro that comes with active noise canceling technology.

“If ‌AirPods‌ 2 will go to end-of-life after ‌AirPods‌ 3’s mass production, we estimate ‌AirPods‌ 3, AirPods Pro, ‌AirPods‌ 2, and ‌AirPods Max‌ will account for about 40%, 28%, 31%, and 1% of total shipments, respectively, in 2021. If ‌AirPods‌ 2 will continue production after mass production of ‌AirPods‌ 3, we estimate ‌AirPods‌ 3, ‌AirPods Pro‌, ‌AirPods‌ 2, and ‌AirPods Max‌ will account for about 32%, 28%, 39%, and 1% of total shipments in 2021, respectively,” said Kuo

Apple’s next big launch event is reportedly happening on March 23

Alright, looks like the previous leaks predicting an Apple launch event on March 16 were wrong. Tipster Jon Prosser has tweeted that the next Apple event is scheduled for March 23, almost a week later than previously reported. That date sounds familiar? Well, OnePlus announced earlier today that the OnePlus 9 series will also be making its grand debut on the same day. Looks like it’s going to be a busy day!

Four new products - iPad Pro, AirTags, AirPods 3, and Apple TV update too!

Coming back to the Apple launch event, Prosser further claims that Apple will launch new iPad Pro, AirTags, AirPods, and Apple TV refresh as well. Starting with the AirPods Pro, Apple is expected to launch an updated model in two sizes – 11-inch and 12.9-inch. Leaks suggest a familiar design, but with some notable internal upgrades such as a faster processor, 5G support, and likely a mini-LED display that is an improvement over the LCD panel on its predecessor.

Apple is also rumored to launch new AirPods later this month as well. As per alleged leaked images, the design might be inspired by the AirPods Pro, complete with a shorter stem, and in-ear profile with optional silicone tips, better gesture controls, wireless charging case, pressure-sensitive touch input area, and also the pressure-relief vent at the top as well.

The AirTags might finally break cover later this month

As for the AirTags, the long-delayed Bluetooth-based object tracker might finally make its debut. As per leaked renders and from what we’ve seen from official accessories from the likes of Spigen, the AirTags will have a circular profile, and might come in two sizes. Some reports also suggest that they might rely on the Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology for more precise location tracking and positioning information. Prosser also namedropped an Apple TV in his tweet, but so far, the leak arena has been mum on what this might be.

Oh, OnePlus!

The launch date itself is rather surprising. Not for Apple, as the company has been unveiling new products in the month of March for the past few years. OnePlus, on the other hand, appears to be on the unlucky side for the second year now, as the OnePlus 9 series is also breaking cover in on March 23. Back in 2018, the company had to reschedule its OnePlus 6T launch event because also marked October 30 for a product launch event.

Apple’s latest M1 MacBooks, iPad Pros and more devices are on sale

Microsoft Surface laptops, SSD’s and Razer peripherals are on sale today

The OnePlus 8, 7T, Amazon Echo bundles and more devices are on sale

As per usual, let’s begin today with deals, and today we have some different ones. If you’re looking to replace your smartphone, OnePlus currently has some crazy deals on their website but you better move quick cause the entry level model of the OnePlus 8 already sold out. If you go for 12GB of RAM, that one is $100 off, leaving it at 699. The OnePlus 7T which is still a pretty good phone is 250 off, that leaves it at just 349 dollars. Moving on to Apple, Amazon has the latest iPad Air for 50 dollars off, which leaves the entry level model for 549 shipped but, you can also get a similar discount if you go for more storage and even the Cellular model. Sticking to Apple for a second, the Apple Watch Series 6 is available for a cool 20 dollars off, starting at 379 dollars shipped. For those of you who keep asking for more computers and parts, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is available for 200 dollars off, meaning it starts at 799 shipped. And guys, we have more deals in the links in the description for Samsung smartphones since the Galaxy S21 series still has trade-in deals, Samsung SSDs, LG displays, Pixels and more.

OnePlus patent filing reveals smartwatch with a round dial and two strap designs

Now obviously you know what deals on OnePlus phones mean. Let’s move on to see what’s next as yes we’re getting new phones, but that’s not all. Ever since Pete Lau confirmed that we’re getting a smartwatch from the company early in 2021, the leaks just haven’t stopped. Now, we have some new patents of the Watch spotted by TechNik News, showing off the schematics. We’re getting a round design with a ring on top but, it’s unclear if this will be a rotating bezel like we get on some Samsung Watches or a capacitive one. From the patent you can also see 2 different strap designs, one that kind of looks like the sport silicone bands for the Apple Watch, and the other one rocking a more traditional look which could probably be a leather strap. So, if you think about it, OnePlus might also go for the Elegant and Sport variants, to appeal to different demographics. So far, we have no real leaks for the software aside from the fact that it will be based on Wear OS and it’ll bring different sensors for features like measuring your heart rate and other vitals.

Apple’s new AirPods 3 could also arrive next month

Let’s talk about Apple’s March Event for a second as, rumors point that we should expect a ton of products from Cupertino. Now disclaimer, this tipster doesn’t have the best track record but, this tweet goes along with other rumors we’ve been covering from trusted sources. On the tweet he gives us a check list on what products have been rumored to make the cut where he checked the new iPad Pro, AirTags and new AirPods and, these pretty much go along with Prosser’s leaks from last week. However, he did cross out 2 products including new ARM Macs and Cheaper AirPods Max. Now as a recap, last week Jon Prosser confirmed that both AirTags and that new iPad Pro are both slated for March so, that sounds like it’s pretty much a done deal. As for the AirPods, we’ve been hearing tons of rumors but, we don’t know if this means that we’re getting the 3rd Generation AirPods or the 2nd Generation AirPods Pro. Let’s see what we end up getting as we’re just a few weeks away from March and I mean, the more products the merrier, but true, this economy doesn’t make that idea compelling.

Next iPhone/iPad Pro to have a variable refresh rate of up to 240Hz? Apple’s patent says so

Let’s move the spotlight back to Apple as we got some new and crazy leaks.. Well, sort off. Patently Apple discovered a new patent which describes an iPhone Display which could have high refresh mode enabled. That’s all great but, we’ve been covering that for weeks, but wait for it. What’s interesting here is that it mentions that this high refresh mode might be capable of updating content up to 4 times the native refresh rate. And if you do the math, this would mean that your iPhone could go all the way up to 240Hz. Yes, 240Hz. We know that touch sampling is not new to Apple, but it said refresh rate. Of course, most of the headlines yesterday claimed that this was coming to iPhone 12S but, we know the way Apple works so even if they got the patent we will most likely not get it this year, heck we might not even get it at all.. Or who knows, they might leap frog. So far, we’re expecting the iPhone 12S Series to introduce high refresh rate displays to iPhones with the Pro models, but we still expect them to be limited to 120Hz. But, we should also expect those Always-On Displays thanks to the new LTPO technology we’re getting.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 again rumored to arrive with an under-display camera

And finally, for the hottest news today, let’s talk Samsung and foldables as we have a very interesting development. If you remember, a couple of weeks ago we got some new renders from Ben Geskin, showing off the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s design and probably the 2 things that stood out the most where the S21 Ultra’s camera and an under the display selfie shooter. At the moment we thought it wouldn’t happen at all but, a new tweet from Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is still very likely to adopt UPC which is an Under-Panel-Camera. This technology was announced by Samsung back at CES and of course, they wouldn’t be the first to bring it to smartphones as ZTE already does it. This, however, does give them some serious bragging rights by having a foldable with an under the display camera, since you pretty much have a regular selfie shooter in the cover display when you need better quality, or vice versa, we’re not sure. Some other things we’re expecting from the Z Fold 3 include smaller 120Hz displays, an S Pen, your typical set of flagship specs with the Snapdragon 888 running on One UI 3.5 and we’re still expecting the price tag to be around the $2000 mark.

OnePlus 9 Lite rocking the Snapdragon 865 SoC to debut alongside the OnePlus 9 duo: Report

For a couple of years now, we’ve been hearing that OnePlus might be working on a “Lite” variant with watered down specs to go along with their flagships but, all we’ve gotten is the Nord Series, which is kind of its own separate lineup. Well, according to a new Android Central report, OnePlus will be debuting a OnePlus 9 Lite along with the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, making this the second major shift in their core strategy. The report claims that the 9 Lite will be powered by the Snapdragon 865, unlike the flagship variants which will most likely pack an 888 5G. Sadly, this is the only information we have at the moment as the design elements and the rest of the specs are still under wraps, however, the report does mention that it will pack 3-4 cameras in the back. We’ll see what we get as, this will most likely be a competitor to phones like the Galaxy S20 FE, at least when it comes to price… and let’s be real, Snapdragon 865 is no lite smartphone.

In ‘Privacy vs Business’ war with Apple, Facebook faces criticism from within

For the hilarious news today, let’s talk about Facebook and their latest privacy debacle as they’ve been attacking Apple on news papers cause it seems that not even Facebook trusts the impact of their own social network. In case you missed it, Facebook has put out a set of ads on big newspapers saying they’re Apple is the bad guy in blocking them from tracking your information and that they are the good guys trying to protect small business. Wait, it gets more ridiculous. Buzzfeed News just recovered multiple comments from Facebook employees that actually feel like we feel about the campaign. Just to mention a couple, one employee said: “it feels like we’re trying to justify doing a bad thing by hiding behind people with a sympathetic message”. Someone else said that people at the top might as well say something like “People are better off if they don’t know what we’re doing, if we don’t have to explain ourselves, people don’t get to opt out”. Of course we’re not trying to take things out of context but, it’s just crazy and funny how your own employees are calling out your hypocritical practices. We’ll see what eventually happens as, if Facebook doesn’t agree to Apple’s practices they will be taken out of the App Store.

Apple could give us a gaming-focused Apple TV in 2021

Let’s move on to Apple for a couple of segments, starting with one of the products that we kind of thought we were getting this year, a new Apple TV. According to a new Bloomberg report, Apple has a new Apple TV coming in 2021 with some changes. Mark Gurman claims that Apple is planning an “upgraded box” with a stronger gaming focus, with an updated remote and a new processor. Some of the changes will fix the 2015 Apple TV box issues, but Apple wants to take another big leap to keep the Apple TV competitive in the long haul. Some of the changes which were previously reported by Bloomberg include integration for the Find My app, for you to find the remote easily in case you lose it often. Other reports claim that it will be powered by the A14, allowing you to run Apple Arcade games that wouldn’t be available on the current Apple TVs. So yeah, we’re expecting it to drop some time next year, let us know if you’re excited for it in the comments.

Apple might finally start building its own car in 2024, claims bombshell Reuters report

Let’s talk about Apple again and.. Cars, yeah. For years, and I mean years, we’ve been hearing that Apple is working on a car, maybe a self-driving one but, these new rumors make it sound like this thing will actually happen. According to a new report form Reuters, Apple’s car plans are back on track and the company is actually targeting “2024 to produce a passenger vehicle that could include their own breakthrough battery technology”. Just to expand on that, this new battery design claims to be more space-efficient, offering an increase in vehicle change, and it’s also apparently “radically” cheap. Cupertino is actually experimenting with other battery technologies that companies like Tesla are exploring as well. As a fun fact, Elon Musk actually chipped in saying how their battery technology is going, and adding that he actually offered to sell Tesla to Tim Cook when they were struggling but Tim wouldn’t take the meeting. However, none of this is set in stone just yet, Reuters does mention that due to pandemic-related issues, production could be pushed until 2025 or beyond. Apple still has a long way to go until production even though they have reportedly got in touch with suppliers for different source parts. There’s also the chance that they might scrap this “passenger” vehicle again and focus on a self-driving system. So yeah, this thing has been trending a lot but, let us know if you guys are interested in an Apple Car?

                      Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra will offer S Pen stylus support, confirms FCC listing

And finally for the hottest news today, yes, once again, let’s talk Galaxy S21 as it’s clearly the hottest topic as of yet. This year has been weird for Galaxy S leaks as, we were hearing that the Galaxy Note could disappear to focus on foldables and that the S Pen is coming to the S Line. Well, the Galaxy S21 Ultra just went through an FCC certification which means we’re actually very close to the launch, and it reveals some interesting things. First off, we get the official model number but, the certification mentions that “The EUT can also be used with a stylus device (S Pen) and that it also operates with the S Pen in two different inductive coupling modes of S Pen motion detection. This most likely means that you can use it as a regular stylus and of course with Samsung’s motion features. The database also reveals support for Wi-Fi 6E, as well as UWB technology. The leaks for the S21 Ultra also include the Snapdragon 888 5G or the Exynos 2100, up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. We’re also supposed to be getting 4 cameras at the back that include a 108MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, a 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom and another 10MP telephoto with 10x optical zoom. With a rumored starting price at around $1250 that might actually be higher but, back to the S Pen.

Let’s begin today, one more time with deals, and can you believe we still have the Samsung trade-in deals that are just too good to be true? The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 is still $1000, the Galaxy Note 20 is $450, the Note 20 Ultra is $750, the S20 starts at $420 for the FE and goes up to $915 with the Ultra, and the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is $650, again with an eligible trade-in device. The new M1 Mac Mini is currently $50 off. This means you can get the 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage model for $849, or $699 if you can live with 256GB of storage. If you want a powerful Intel MacBook Pro, the 16in is currently $400 off, leaving the Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage for $2399. We have other deals on over-the-ear headphones, other Earbuds, TVs and more in the links in the description.

OnePlus smartwatch plans confirmed by CEO Pete Lau, no rush towards foldables though

Let’s move on to OnePlus which always does a great job at teasing upcoming products. Pete Lau just went on an interview, confirming some products that have been on the rumor mill as of late. First off, he confirmed that they are working on a smartwatch after all, as they posted some teasers earlier in the fall. Lau said that Wear OS definitely has room to improve especially in aspects like connectivity with the rest of Google’s Ecosystem. Apparently Google has taken their feedback and they are interesting in developing that kind of connectivity between the OnePlus Watch and other OnePlus devices. Further on they reported that we might get this watch next year but of course, that isn’t confirmed. Moving on, they got onto the topics of foldables and it looks like OnePlus isn’t on that bandwagon just yet. Pete mentioned that one of the biggest issues is to have apps applied to leverage that larger displays to allow it to be of greater use. So, he didn’t rule out the possibility of getting one in the future but he did say that they are keeping a close eye on that industry so it sounds like it won’t happen soon. And you know what, I’d rather OnePlus continue to focus on getting the camera right, instead fo foldables.

New legislation in EU would promote competition and protect users from big tech companies

Let’s talk about big companies vs small companies, for two segments actually so bear with me here. The European Union just passed a new legislation that prevents big companies like Apple, Amazon, Google and Facebook to self-preference. This means that if you search up a keyword on the App Store for example, the search cannot preference apps made by Apple over third party apps. Other changes include that, these companies will be obliged to allow users to uninstall all pre-installed apps and the performance metrics will be have to be shared for free advertisers and publishers. If they fail to comply with these rules it will result in hefty fines that go as high as ten percent of the company’s worldwide annual turnover. All of these changes are happening to allow smaller companies and developers to have more of a fair chance to compete in today’s landscape. These haven’t been fully approved yet but, they will reportedly come into force faster than usual so, we’ll see what happens one they come in to effect. That said, good one EU, we do need more developers to stand a chance if we want technology to go beyond just a few companies.

Facebook targets Apple over privacy policy update, Apple says users must get a choice

Moving on, let’s talk about my least favorite company, Facebook. Last week we talked about how Craig Federighi made some statements on Apple’s upcoming privacy features which have made other company’s like Facebook mad. Well, it looks like Facebook is really mad. According to a new report from Bloomberg, Facebook has attacked Apple in a series of full-page newspaper ads that claim that Apple’s changes around data gathering and targeted advertising are bad for small businesses. These ads will run in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post with the headline “We’re standing up to Apple for small businesses anywhere”. Finally it notes that Apple’s changes to iOS 14 will curb the ability for company’s like Facebook to gather data about users to ply them with advertising. So, it looks like Facebook is trying to do what Epic did but, Epic’s efforts at least actually helped the small businesses and not them primarily. If you missed it last week, Craig said that if company’s didn’t comply to the new guidelines, they would be kicked out of the App Store, like Epic did. It’s just funny how Facebook needs to pay for newspaper ads to influence consumers. What, your social network isn’t big enough?

Apple to release lower-priced AirPods Pro ‘Lite’ without noise cancellation

Let’s keep talking Apple but don’t worry, no more drama. Yes, today was finally AirPods Max day for me, and let’s just say they rumble a lot. That said, let’s shift the focus on to regular AirPods as, we’ll be reportedly getting new AirPods and AirPods Pro this year. According to a new report from The Elec, Cupertino is working on some AirPods Pro Lite which will simply be marketed as the 3rd Gen AirPods. The reason as to why they’re called “AirPods Pro Lite” is because they are tipped to feature the same design of the Pros, but without bringing the “Pro” feature which is Active Noise Cancelling. They’re reportedly developing a new System-in-Package for these which brings the H1 chip. Apparently they will go under quality verification this year, allowing for production to start in 2021 but we have no word on when we’ll actually be getting these. The price will reportedly be around 20% less than the Pros as they won’t bring their main feature. We’ll see as, I think they could be a nice addition to their March Event, but you can’t deny Apple has made their AirPods launches mostly silent and independent.

                      Story of the day:

Samsung denies Galaxy Note series discontinuation rumors

And finally, the hottest news today have to do with Samsung and their most beloved lineup. Rumors have been intense, but not just of the S21, we also have heard that the Galaxy Note might finally be no more. All of the rumors pointed to Samsung moving their focus on to foldables, and adding the S Pen to the Galaxy S, for those of you wanting to replace the Note with a more conventional device. Well, very official sources claim that it’s not going to happen. TM Roh, the president of mobile business just discredited all of the rumors hinting that the Galaxy Note would be discontinued. To quote him again, yesterday he mentioned that they have payed attention to people’s favorite features from the Note and that they will add them to other devices. Now, the report also claims that the Galaxy Note isn’t coming to an end any time soon. But, it is still very likely that the S Pen is expanding to both the S Line and the Z Fold line. The thing about it is, it’s already December, there’s still no codename for the phone, no rumors, anything.. But the company claims that we’ll still be getting one

Apple to release lower-priced AirPods Pro ‘Lite’ without noise cancellation

Apple is rumored to be working on upgrading its truly wireless earphones lineup. We recently reported that the company could launch the 3rd gen AirPods and 2nd gen AirPods Pro in 2021. Both are said to be an upgrade over the current AirPods and AirPods Pro. Now, Apple has reportedly confirmed that it is working on a ‘Lite’ variant of its AirPods Pro. It could make AirPods cheaper with the launch of its upcoming TWS earphones.

As per TheElec report, Apple is working on AirPods Pro Lite to expand its presence in the wireless earphones market. This upcoming product is tipped to come without the support for the company’s noise canceling feature . Further, the Lite variant of AirPods Pro is said to be launched in the first half of next year. The Cupertino-based company is rumored to be developing a system-in-package (SiP) product containing Apple’s H1 chip, which is an AirPod audio driver chip, through a domestic materials partner.

The AirPods Pro 'Lite' could be the successor to the current AirPods.

While the existing SiP has a rounded shape, the upcoming Lite variant is expected to feature a simple square design. As per the report, the product is scheduled to undergo quality verification within this year and start production in 2021. Moreover, the report cites a source close to the matter to go on to mention that the new hearables will be around 20 percent lower than the price of the AirPods Pro that come with active noise canceling technology.

Apple is already rumored to be working on the upgrades to the existing AirPods lineup. The new report reiterates the previous rumors that despite a new design, upcoming AirPods will not have higher-end AirPods Pro features like noise-cancelation.
