Anton thinks: Windows Phone is not good for me

…and that’s not entirely Microsoft’s fault. After watching the Microsoft Windows 10 event I decided to give Windows Phone another shot, for a week. It was either that, or because I missed using the platform; it could have also been because I wanted to see what’s new in Windows Phone 8.1, or that getting an Xbox One for two weeks pushed me to it. So I used Windows Phone ...

Anton thinks: the iPhone is the perfect Mini phone…

…because Apple is either stubborn or too smart to bump the screen size in a world dominated by devices that have screens of 4.5 to as big as 6.3-inches (yes, that is, according to me, tablet territory, even though I have no problems using a tablet as a phone). The HTC One mini and the Samsung Galaxy S 4 mini are the most ...

You can already buy the perfect smartphone

Not long ago our own Anton D. Nagy told us “there’s no such thing as a perfect smartphone”. He’s absolutely right — and completely wrong. I, like Tony, have a stack of smartphones that I can call upon at any given time. Some have HD screens. Some have LTE. Some have removable batteries. Some can accept SD cards. Some have a slide-out keyboard. Some include a high-end camera. What none of them have is a perfect combination of everything. None of the smartphones I own has everything. Each is always ...

Anton Thinks: there’s no such thing as a perfect smartphone, yet

…they’re all good, and they all suck, at the same time. Wait, what? Let me explain! I am lucky to have a rather impressive collection of devices, mostly because of my addiction, and also because it just so happens that I do this for work. Lucky me, I can always opt for the perfect smartphone for every situation, knowing the pros and the cons of each. You might not be so lucky. If you are, chances are you’re doing the same thing I am. Shuffling phones depending on what you do, where, and for how long. I always choose the iPhone 5 when I go outside to shoot some pictures in bright, ...

Anton Thinks: The Mobile Future of Apple Doesn’t Depend On the iPhone This Year

…but rather on the future of iOS. If the past is any indication, we should see an iPhone 5S, an incremental spec-bump, just like the iPhone 4S. Regardless if that will be the case, or a completely new phone, the mobile future of Apple doesn’t really depend on the phone itself. No quad-core, 2GB of RAM, and 13MP camera with X number of lens, in addition to a fingerprint reader and maybe adopting NFC/wireless charging will stop the already ongoing decline. It’s not about hardware anymore, looks, materials, or specs. iOS, just like Windows Phone, does an excellent job at offering an ...

Anton Thinks: Samsung Is Machiavellian…

…because, of all tech companies out there, they perfectly understand the meaning of “il fine giustifica i mezzi” (“the end justifies the means”, Il Principe by Niccolò Machiavelli). They utilize it like it was their guidebook, their Bible. No, this is not a deep philosophical piece, it is a clear reflection of reality, filtered through my views and personality; unwrought thoughts, delivered to you naked, as they were born. If you can’t handle them, move away, now! Samsung wants to be first. Samsung needs to be first. Samsung has to be first! Samsung ...
