Didn’t Make It To MWC 2013? Here’s Everything You Missed (Video)

Mobile World Congress 2013 was, as promised, a boatload of fun and a bucket of hot tech-geek action. While we didn’t see everything we wanted to, we were treated to an avalanche of smartphones and tablets running everything from Android to Windows Phone to Sailfish to FirefoxOS. We got a gander at some really impressive form factors too, at sizes ranging from the conventional to the fantastic. If you were off the internet for the duration of last week, or if you simply couldn’t deal with ...

Mobile World Congress 2013 Recap

Technically, the Mobile World Congress may finish-up tomorrow, but with all the big smartphone and tablet events over, we’re calling it a wrap. We’ve had a great time the past several days bringing you news of all the new hardware and software companies came to the event to promote, and as we now begin to recuperate and get back to business as usual, we wanted to take a look back on MWC 2013 and everything it brought us. The week leading up to the MWC was filled with rumors, as we should expect, and while some played out, others ...

The Pocketnow Weekly Podcast, Episode 033: The Great MWC Wrap-Up

We think it’s pretty fair to say that MWC 2013 was one part IFA and one part CES: a few stark disappointments peppered among some really amazing stuff. We’ve seen technology this week ranging from the incredible to the absurd – from the third iteration of ASUS’s wild Padfone concept to the improbable debut of a Kyocera Echo lookalike. The big guys have come out to play, too, but they’re a little shy this time around: neither Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0 nor Nokia’s midrange Lumias blew the roof off the joint. Even a few has-beens came out to confuse ...

Huawei Calls Ascend P2 World’s Fastest LTE Smartphone

We’ve already gone hands-on with Huawei’s new Ascend P2, just announced at the Mobile World Congress. We mentioned a bunch of the phone’s specs at the time, but with the company’s press release now in-hand, we thought we’d return to the phone in a little more detail. Like we mentioned, the P2 runs a 1.5GHz quad-core SoC, has a gigabyte of RAM, and is outfitted with 16GB of flash storage. Around back there’s a big thirteen-megapixel camera,

Huawei Ascend P2 Hands-On (Video)

After showing off the Ascend D2 and Ascend Mate at CES, Huawei have brought a new phone to this year’s Mobile World Congress: the Huawei Ascend P2. The phone packs a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13-megapixel camera at the back with a single-megapixel front-facing webcam. It runs Android 4.1.2 with Huawei’s own Emotion UI on top of it — version 1.6 — and, as far as build quality is concerned, we were surprised by the low weight and good feel in the hand. While talking about that, the phone is 8.6mm thin. The screen is 4.7 inches large in ...

Huawei Ascend P2 Just Got a Whole Lot Less Interesting

If Huawei ever wants to rise from the shadows and become a brand that gets recognition on the level of a Samsung or even an HTC, it needs to be bold. We’ve already seen some progress along that front, with the company pushing boundaries with its giant Ascend Mate. One of Huawei’s upcoming Androids also had us pretty excited, with rumors about the Ascend P2 not only looking to a super-thin construction, but an envelope-pushing compact 1080p display. While we ...

Huawei Ascend P2: New Leaked Pics, Specs, Pricing Info

Huawei’s been teasing the launch of a super-thin Android for the MWC this year, measuring-in thinner than 6.45 millimeters. Chances are, this model will be the Ascend P2, following-up on the Ascend P1 and P1S, themselves very thin models to begin with. We got to look at a supposed render of the P2 late last month, and now, with just a few weeks to go until MWC 2013, some hands-on pics of what’s reportedly the P2 have arrived, along with some ...

Huawei Ascend P2 Render Leaks: Super-Thin Android for MWC

Huawei’s MWC event is scheduled for a month from today, on February 24. Just like the company’s CES offerings, we’re expecting a mix of Windows Phone and Android devices, and on the latter front the company has been talking about an incredibly thin smartphone, which will likely arrive as the Ascend P2. The Ascend P1 was only 7.69 millimeters thick, and the P1S just 6.68, but if what we’ve heard about the P2 is correct, this follow-up could ...
