Now that we’ve got the One M8 update out of the way – at least for unlocked models, that is – it’s time to look over the rest of HTC’s smartphone portfolio and check out when the juicy goodness of Android 5.0 will grace the models in question. A source out of Vietnam has posted what looks to be a legitimate look at the various HTC Lollipop update plans for a variety of the company’s models, including the ...

Verizon goes official with HTC Desire 612

Late last week, a new HTC Android suddenly popped up on Verizon’s site. There was no primary listing for the handset on the carrier’s list of available smartphones, but its support pages revealed the user guide for the then-unannounced HTC Desire 612. The weekend passed without any further motion on this mysterious new Desire, but today the other shoe drops as Verizon formally welcomes the 612 to its lineup.Despite having access to that manual last week, we didn’t have a ton of technical details ...

HTC goes after US shoppers with latest Desire models

HTC’s One-series of Androids (and soon to be Windows Phone, too, by the looks of it) may capture the lion’s share of our attention, but we’ve also been keeping abreast with what’s happening with its more affordable Desire lineup. Back in May we reviewed the Desire 816, and just last month we gave the same ...

HTC Desire 610 review: watered-down HTC on the cheap

HTC has certainly seen better days. Despite its valiant efforts last year with the One M7, it couldn’t seem to reclaim the high status it once held in the smartphone realm. It’s fought through serious competition, dwindling revenues, and shrinking market and mind share. It’s tried to be bold, to be different, and to continue to maintain the utmost quality possible. Finally, it seems to have started to pay off for the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. In its most ...

HTC Desire 610 unboxing & hardware tour (Video)

We first officially saw the Desire 610 at Mobile World Congress in Berlin, Spain back in February. A low-end update to the Desire lineup, HTC didn’t aim to wow the masses, but rather offer a pretty, capable device for a fair price.Joe published our review of the Desire 816 – the 610′s bigger, higher-end sibling – and felt moderately pleased with the phone. Point being, we have high expectations for the 610, ...

HTC Desire 610 allegedly on its way to AT&T

At the HTC event at MWC 2014 we’ve seen Peter Chou on stage showing off the Desire 816, but the press release that was sent out also contained the HTC Desire 610, which was sadly not available in Barcelona. To refresh your memory, it packs a 4.7-inch display with qHD resolution of 540 by 960 pixels, quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage (expandable), eight-megapixel camera, 1.3MP front-facer, and a 2,040mAh battery. While availability is expected in Europe for May, @evleaks has unveiled that the phone will also join AT&T’s ...

The best of MWC 2014, from afar

Sadly, Mobile World Congress is now over. This year’s mobile show in Barcelona, Spain was one of the busiest, device-driven shows in recent years. We saw a boatload of handsets, a few tablets, some wearables, and a lot of future products that won’t be available for a while. Needless to say, there was plenty for just about everyone to be excited about at least something: a new Galaxy S smartphone, three new wrist-mounted Gear devices, a new Sony flagship, new additions to the HTC Desire lineup, new Huawei ...

HTC’s new Desires finally live up to the name

HTC makes great devices, you’ll get no argument on that from me. Where opinions begin to vary is whether or not the HTC Desire series really lives up to their name: are they really all that desirable? If you’d have asked me that just a week ago, I wouldn’t have hesitated: no, they’re not desirable. That said, I do respect the role that the HTC Desire family has played over the years. They’ve all been fairly decent devices for the average smartphone user. What’s more, ...

HTC delivers news of Desire 816, Desire 610 mid-rangers

HTC’s presumed All New One (M8) launch event is still over a month away (though just barely more than a month by this point), so coming in to the MWC this week, we were basically expecting nothing from the manufacturer. Well, it looks like HTC saw all the fun everyone else was having announcing new phones of their own and just couldn’t help itself but join in a little, and this morning shares news of two additions to its Desire family of Android mid-rangers. First ...
