Apple’s MacBook shipments may grow in this third quarter

Maybe 2020 hasn’t been so great in sales for several companies because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but some companies have seen their sales numbers increase. Now, according to the latest report from DigiTimes, Apple may see it’s MacBook shipments grow in this third quarter.

“The upstream supply chain originally believed demand from the work-from-home group would only be short-term, but is now expecting the momentum to last much longer than anticipated, the sources said.”

It seems that Apple’s MacBook shipments may increase in this third quarter of 2020, as the back-to-school season begins, and the fact that more professionals are currently working from home. Apple has shipped between 3.2 and 3.5 million MacBook s in the second quarter of 2020, and this number is expected to be increased by over 20 percent. However, let’s remember that we are expecting Apple to launch its new Apple Silicon powered MacBooks by the end of the year, to begin its two-year-long transition away from Intel processors.

Sony postpones PlayStation 5 event on June 4 due to ongoing unrest

Last week we covered how Sony would be hosting an event on June 4th to showcase their newest game titles for the upcoming PS5 but it looks like that won’t be the case. The company just announced that they will be postponing their event as they feel that right now is not a time to celebrate and that more important voices should be heard at the moment. The company hasn’t revealed when the event will happen but, we’ll keep you posted. Bravo Sony. Thank you for taking a stand.

Android 11 leak shows a redesigned power button menu, controls for smart devices

Google delays Android 11 Beta Launch Show event scheduled for June 3

Now, even if Google just postponed their Android 11 Developers Preview Event that was happening on June 3rd, we have some Android 11 leaks. The event was postponed indefinitely due to the protests and the situation in the US but they claim the full Android 11 launch won’t be delayed. These new leaks come from Twitter and they basically show us the Power Button menu where we see 5 controls like Emergency, Power Off, Restart, Screenshot as well as a new Quick Controls menu which shows your smart devices and wallet access. The leak also shows that we will be getting a UI redesign at least in things like these. Google, also thank you for taking a stand.

if your iPhone runs on iOS 13, it could also get the new iOS 14 update

For those of you battling a tough economy, holding on to your device a bit longer is always a welcome relief, and you know Apple does that best. We have a new leak of which devices will be getting iOS 14 this year. We should take this with a grain of salt as this source doesn’t have the greatest track record but, according to them some inside sources claim that all devices running iOS 13 will be able to run iOS 14. This means that if you still have an iPhone 6s or iPod Touch7th gen or later, you’ll be able to get the update. They didn’t provide any information on iPads but we’re hoping it’ll be the same case if this actually happens.

Galaxy Note 20 might be able to pack a battery as big as the Galaxy Note 20+

I think one of the biggest deterrents of the small Galaxy Note 20 was that you weren’t getting a Galaxy Note Quality battery, and it looks like Samsung noticed. Apparently the company doesn’t want to cheap out on the batteries for the Galaxy Note 20 line. It just went through China’s 3C Certification and it shows that the regular Galaxy Note 20 will bring a 4300 mAh battery that’s rated at 4170 mAh. As a reference, last year’s Note 10 brought a 3500 mAh battery while the Note 10+ brought a 4300 mAh battery. According to another leak we got last week, the Note 20+ will bring a 4500 mAh battery so Samsung is closing that gap between the two variants.

New images of alleged iPhone 12 dummy units suggest some changes

iPhone 12 allegedly begins mass production in 3Q20 with October launch in sight

And finally the hottest news today has to do with iPhones, and the fact that things might not be so bad for the launch timing, nor components. According to a new DigiTimes report, this year’s iPhones won’t get the regular September launch and we’ll have to wait until October, which switches things from the November we had heard. Due to the travel bans Apple hasn’t been able to send enough engineers to China which has delayed the production. DigiTimes also claims that the 6.1in iPhone will start production earlier than the rest. This is the iPhone that will allegedly bring the LG and BOE displays. The report suggests that this may happen to make sure that these panels meet the quality standards as LG display has had issues in the past. The Samsung displays on the other 3 are also easier to manufacture as they eliminate a separate touch layer. We also have some dummies of the iPhone 12 line up from MacOtakara which show the 4 designs but these don’t show the smaller notch that we’re expecting.

iPhone 12 allegedly begins mass production in 3Q20 with October launch in sight

We are used to seeing Apple launch its new iPhones every year in September, but this year, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected production in many ways. Some events have been canceled; others have transformed into an all-digital format. There are even some companies that are selling more than expected. Apple has also been affected in different ways since it has made iPad sales grow, and it may also delay the launch of the iPhone 12, but not as much as we expected.

It seems that we have a new possible launch time frame for the iPhone 12. We have received rumors that suggest that this new lineup may arrive until December and even next year. However, the latest report from Digitimes claims that it would arrive in October.

“Apple has stopped sending key iPhone engineers to China, which means progress on the engineering validation test prototypes of the iPhone 12 has stalled. Apple readies hardware by passing through stages: engineering validation, then design validation, and then production validation.”

“Volume production of new mainstream iPhone models to start in 3Q20, say sources […] the planned launch of Apple’s 2020 iPhone lineup, reportedly to come in four models and three sizes, is likely to be in October instead of September.”

The report also mentions that the lower-end 6,1-inch iPhone 12 will begin production earlier than the other models since these displays will be provided by LG and not Samsung. This decision may be taken to ensure that LG can meet quality standards during mass production, or maybe because Samsung displays have a more advanced design, which would simplify assembly.

“This panel is basically an OLED panel that has touch function built in. Touch sensor is placed on top of thin film encapsulation inside of a panel. Touch function in the past attaches a touch film on a panel. Because on-cell touch OLED panel does not require a separate film.”

Here’s your first official look at the VIVO X50 and X50 Pro

Oh so you thought the Galaxy S20 had a big camera hump? Well, vivo has been teasing their new X50 Pro which brings a gimbal like main camera. The company just released a new poster of the phone which shows the quad camera module with the huge main sensor. This main camera is a Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GN1 Sensor which comes with Dual Pixel PDAF tech for faster focusing, it basically rotates on it’s axis like a gimbal for better stabilization. The other cameras include a periscope, and most likely a wide angle and a macro camera. We’re expecting the vivo X50 lineup to launch on June 1.

ASUS ROG Phone III and ZenFone 7 to debut around July: Report

Back in February Qualcomm gave us a list of phones that would bring the Snapdragon 865 and, that list included two ASUS phones. It looks like both of those phones are ready to launch according to a new report from Taiwan which claims that the ROG Phone 3 and the ZenFone 7 will either in Q2 or early Q3 of 2020. Going by last year’s launch date, if they do launch in July or August they will be late by a couple of months when compared to their predecessors but, the market isn’t in the same state as it was last year. The company is currently targeting a 30-50% growth in sales for the ROG Phone 3. We’ll keep you posted in case we get more leaks.

Second-gen Moto Razr foldable phone could be launched in September

We all know how excited I was for the Moto RAZR last year, and we all know how that turned out. Well, according to Lenovo’s South African GM, the company is already working on a second generation device and it is supposed to come out in September. He actually mentioned the words “generation two” twice during a podcast while talking about the RAZR. Leaks will most likely start coming in soon and we hope it brings better specifications for the price tag, nostalgia can only go so far.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

A new DigiTimes report claims that we’ll be getting Apple’s AirPods Studio sooner rather than later. The report mentions the fact that Apple will be dropping the wired earphones from the iPhone 12’s box like we covered yesterday. It also mentions that Cupertino will resume regular shipments of the AirPods 2 in the second half of this year, which we wonder if it has anything to do with the move of production to Vietnam, but that does match the timing of the possible AirPods Studio. The company has apparently already started production for these and we could see an announcement at WWDC and they might cost $350.

Story of the day:

We may get a Periscope camera in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could’ve appeared in some hot looking renders

We recently got some sketches for the Galaxy Note 20′s design from Ice Universe. Now we got the first renders which were made based on that leaked design. The phone looks pretty similar to the Note 10 from the front with the very boxy design but it does bring some changes. The camera on this one has a larger hump, like the one on the S20 Ultra, the buttons are also on the right side and the S Pen was moved to the left. Like seriously, common sense changes. Now, these aren’t the official renders just yet but, this gives us a pretty good idea of what it might look like according to the sketches. Galaxy Club just found some new information and they claim that the Note 20+ will most likely bring a periscope camera. It isn’t clear if it will be the same one on the S20 Ultra and some other rumors claim that it won’t bring 100X zoom, but it pretty much explains the large camera hump for this phone as well.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

We could soon see the arrival of the new AirPods Studio from Apple. Rumors suggest that they may launch in August, but a new report from DigiTimes says that production is already underway.

“As Apple is likely to accelerate dropping its wired earphones, the vendor will resume normal shipments for AirPods 2 in the second half of the year and its new over-ear headphones, dubbed ‌AirPods Studio‌, has also kicked off production, all securing growth momentum for rigid-flex boards suppliers for the devices, including Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Compeq Manufacturing, the sources said.”

This mention of the AirPods Studio comes from a larger story focused on circuit board suppliers for the AirPods lineup, and it doesn’t include more details. We also know that WWDC 2020 will take place in a month, and we could see them make a special appearance. However, we could also get them on a separate event, or on a press release, since these over-ear headphones aren’t precisely intended for developers.
