Popular European food delivery service, Bolt Food joins HUAWEI AppGallery

HUAWEI is consistently adding apps and services to its AppGallery. The latest addition to the HUAWEI app store is popular food delivery service, Bolt Food. It is now available to European HUAWEI users on AppGallery. Bolt has been available on AppGallery since last summer and was one of the first major brands to have joined AppGallery. It is said to have enjoyed great uptake among consumers, delivering nearly 4 million app distributions on the platform.

Bolt, the company best known for its popular ride-hailing service which became available on AppGallery last summer is now making its food delivery service Bolt Food available across Europe. The company has built a strong reputation for being one of the quickest, safest and most reliable services available, and further differentiates itself by being competitively affordable.

Being listed on AppGallery gave Bolt an opportunity to increase its customer base by tapping into HUAWEI’s wide range of smartphone users. AppGallery has now become the world’s third largest app marketplace with 530 million monthly active users (MAUs), growing in Europe by 61.5% year-on-year to more than 42 million users.

HUAWEI says that there were more than 2,000 requests for users to on-board Bolt Food on AppGallery. Bolt Food has presence in 20 countries having achieved considerable and rapid growth, taking just one year to scale out in contrast to several years it took its competitors. The service has now expanded to 40 cities in total across Europe and Africa. Unlike other takeaway apps, Bolt has a major advantage in ensuring that its deliveries are predictable, faster and reliable.

Bolt Food is the first regional level takeaway app completely integrated with HMS. The app is the latest in a growing number of high-profile apps that have been built, or adapted, specifically for millions of consumers using Huawei’s newest HMS devices such as the P40 or Mate 40 or Mate 30 series.

Huawei AppGallery adds mindfulness app Headspace

A new Huawei AppGallery study in conjunction with The Stress Management Society says that two-thirds (65%) of Brits say they feel more stressed than usual as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Further, over, three-quarters of Brits (78%) have used technology to de-stress or motivate themselves since March 2020, with 94% of those saying tech has boosted their wellbeing. Hence, the company is introducing the mindfulness app Headspace to its AppGallery.

“With national lockdown measures set to continue until the end of March, Brits have revealed the biggest technology benefits from their time at home, with entertainment (61%), socialization (52%), and the sense of escapism tech provides (46%) the most important,” says the study. The Stress Management Society identified three major trends in the way Brits have been feeling during the lockdown: feelings of disconnection, uncertainty, and a loss of control. In addition, 36% of those surveyed reported difficulty in concentrating and 38% say they feel a lack of motivation.

Respondents who agree they have felt more stressed since the pandemic began include those who are employed working behind a counter (86%), in hospitals (80%), and in education (76%). While 78% of students also agree they feel more stressed, as do those between the ages of 18-24 (79%).

More people are practicing mindfulness since the pandemic began with 17% trying it for the first time this year, while 30% of regular users have upped their practice to cope with lockdown stress. Exercise tracking, anxiety reduction and relaxation techniques are all features attracting Brits to download wellbeing apps like Headspace, while 7% have also been listening to bedtime stories to get to sleep. The Stress Management Society recommends that practicing a form of meditation or mindfulness can help people to be less distracted by ‘what if’ thinking and become more aware of the ‘here and now’.

Hence, Huawei is adding Headspace, a global leader in meditation and mindfulness, to its platform to give customers access to the app’s science-backed content and additional wellbeing support during this time of increased stress.

HUAWEI adds Bolt, an Uber alternative to its AppGallery

HUAWEI is putting in its best efforts to make AppGallery the go-to alternative to Google Play Store on its phones. The latest addition to its AppGallery is of an Uber-alternative called Bolt. The app is an on-demand transport company that is sometimes dubbed as European Uber.

Bolt is in the final stages of the integration process and is expected to land in AppGallery this week. It will now provide a much needed Uber-like alternative to millions of HUAWEI users around Europe. The app has a presence in some 150 cities in Europe and Africa and serves about 30 million users in over 35 countries globally.

For reference, Bolt is Europe’s third-fastest growing technology according to FT. It has raised $109 million to expand its services and branch out into food delivery services similar to Uber Eats. The company says Bolt’s launch will be most immediately felt right now thanks to its dive into micro mobility with electric scooters, as more European countries are easing out their lockdowns with public transport still a major concern to use.
