The wait is finally over. The latest true-blue flagship from the house of OnePlus is here. And from the looks of it, the OnePlus 9 Pro appears to be a winner, not solely based on the price-performance ratio, but also the upgrades it brings to the table, some of which happen to be at the top of the food chain. For example, you get blazing-fast 50W wireless charging, and a 65W charger in the retail package.
There is a ton to talk about, and it is clear what OnePlus is aiming for – the crown itself. In its path to glory is the iPhone 12 Pro duo, which has already established a solid reputation. Let’s check out how the two phones compared against each other in this OnePlus 9 Pro vs iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max comparison:

An amalgam of glass and metal – this is what you get on both phones. OnePlus goes for gentler curves and a sloping screen, ensuring a more comfortable fit in your hands. The iPhone 12 Pro pair, on the other hand, opts for flat sides made from surgical-grade steel and a flat panel.
You may or may not like the curved display on the OnePlus offering, but it does look clean with those slim bezels and a clean screen profile. The iPhone 12 Pro and its Max sibling also have thin bezels, but that huge notch at the top is an eye-sore.
Coming to the color options, OnePlus 9 Pro will let you choose between three colors – Morning Mist with a glossy mirror finish, Pine Green with a dual-layer matte texture, and Stellar Black rocking a frosted matte glass texture. The iPhone 12 Pro and its Max variant are up for grabs in Silver, Graphite, Gold and Pacific Blue trims – all of which rock a matte finish.
The OnePlus 9 Pro comes armed with a curved 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216×1440 pixels) display that translates to a pixel density of 525 PPI. The 6.1-inch display of the iPhone 12 Pro (2532×1170 pixels) offers a pixel density of 460 PPI, while the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 6.7-inch screen (2778×1284 pixels) display results in a pixel density of 458 PPI. The peak brightness output of the OnePlus 9 Pro’s AMOLED display is slightly higher at 1,300 nits, while the iPhone 12 Pro pair’s OLED panel maxes out at 1,200 nits.
However, one area where the OnePlus 9 Pro leaves the iPhone 12 Pro duo far behind is the screen refresh rate. While the Apple devices are still stuck with a 60Hz screen, the OnePlus offering packs a 120Hz LTPO panel that can vary the refresh rate value between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the content you’re watching on it. For example, while reading something, the refresh rate drops to 1Hz, watching movies will have it operating at 24Hz, and goes higher while gaming. Needless to say, this this approach saves battery life.
The OnePlus 9 Pro relies on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, which is currently the most powerful SoC you can find inside an Android phone. It is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max draw power from the A14 Bionic chip that is blazing fast too, but as usual, we don’t know the amount of RAM fitted inside the phone. However, you get to choose between the storage variants – 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
But one department where the OnePlus leaves iPhone 12 Pro and its Max sibling far behind is charging capability. OnePlus 9 Pro supports 65W wired fast charging, which can fill the battery from 0-100% in just 29 minutes. Plus, you also get support for an insane 50W wireless charging that will fill the battery completely in just 43 minutes. And oh, OnePlus bundles the 65W charger in the retail box.
The iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max have their wired charging capability capped at 20W, while MagSafe charging taps out at 15W. However, if you’re using a third-party Qi wireless charger, the output drops even lower to 7.5W. If you’re using a 20W charger – that Apple sells separately – you can get up to 50% charge in 30 minutes. And just in case you’re not aware, Apple doesn’t offer a charger in the retail package of iPhone 12 Pro and its Max version.
Now, this is one area where OnePlus 9 Pro takes the lead in hardware department, while iPhone 12 Pro reigns supreme in the hardware department. The basic camera lens setup (wide + ultra-wide + telephoto) is shared across both phones, but the OnePlus 9 Pro also adds a monochrome camera to the mix, and its ultra-wide camera also doubles as a macro shooter with a 4cm range.
Let’s talk hardware now. The OnePlus 9 Pro features a 48MP main snapper with the custom Sony IMX789 sensor that can capture 4K videos at an impressive 120fps and 8K videos at 30fps. Plus, it also supports 12-bit capture. There is a massive 50MP ultra-wide-angle snapper backed by the Sony IMX766 sensor and employs a Freeform lens that reduces distortion to as low as 1 percent.
You also get an optically-stabilized 8MP telephoto camera (3.3x optical and 30x digital zoom) and a 2MP monochrome camera. Selfie and video calling duties are handled by a 16MP front camera. The OnePlus phone allows 12-bit image capture, which is something photography aficionados will definitely appreciate.
Coming to the iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max, they feature a trio of 12MP sensors for wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto photography. A key difference between the two phones is that the iPhone 12 Pro Max employs a better wide-angle camera, a longer-range telephoto lens, and superior sensor-shift image stabilization technology. Both the phones have a 12MP front camera. But it’s the capabilities of these cameras where the iPhone 12 Pro gets an upper hand.

The iPhone 12 Pro duo allows you to capture HDR videos with Dolby Vision at up to 60fps. Plus, you can watch edit them natively on your phone itself. A few other impressive tricks are Night mode Time-Lapse capture, Night mode Portrait shots, and support for a new image format called Apple ProRAW.
The latter combines the benefits of RAW capture with computational photography techniques such as Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3. Even the front camera can capture 4K videos at 60fps and supports Dolby Vision HDR video recording at 30fps. And oh, the selfie camera also gets support for Night Mode and the proprietary Deep Fusion tech as well.
The OnePlus 9 Pro costs $969 the base variant with 8 gigs of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. For the iPhone 12 Pro, you have to shell out a minimum $999. On the other hand, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have you spending north of $1,099 starting with the base 128GB storage variant.

If you are in the market for the new iPhone 12 Pro series, it is known that you’d be looking for chargers. For the unaware, Apple committed the charging adapter from its latest flagship offering. All the four iPhone 12 models come without a charger in the box. However, you do get a USB-C to Lightning cable. But it is known that you’ll also want a USB-C charger to go with it. We have got you covered as we’ve compiled a list of the best iPhone 12 fast chargers. These are some of the best offerings in the market, and the majority of them don’t come from Apple but third-party brands like Aukey, RAVPower, Belkin, and more.
Our favorite is the Aukey Swift 30W 2-port USB C charger for iPhone. It is perhaps one of the best iPhone 12 fast chargers on the market. You get an 18W Power Delivery 3.0 port and a 12W USB port, this charger supports simultaneous charging for two devices, and you can get a total output of 30W. Hence, you can charge your iPhone and one more device simultaneously. It works with most USB-C & USB-powered devices. The charger sports a minimal form factor and a foldable plug ensure maximum portability wherever you go. Further, the built-in safeguards protect your iPhone 12 Pro devices against excessive current, overheating, and overcharging. You should definitely go for this one!
As our second choice, we pick the Belkin USB-PD GaN charger 30W as one of the best iPhone 12 fast chargers. It comes with next-gen Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which provides high-performance charging in a lightweight, compact design. It is claimed to be able to charge your MacBook Air up to 50 percent in 70 minutes. Moreover, it takes just 37 minutes to charge your iPhone 8 and onwards to 50 percent. It can also charge your iPad Pro up to 50 percent in under 60 minutes.

Apple’s new iPhone family has something for everyone, whether it’s the small-yet-equally-mighty iPhone 12 mini with a 5.4-inch screen, the two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models, or the monstrous iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is more than just a bigger iPhone 12 Pro and is the biggest iPhone ever released.
Clearly, the global situation this year has resulted in delays for certain components. As a result, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro both go up for preorder on October 16 and ship on October 23. Preorders for the smaller Mini and larger Max variants are delayed to November 6, with shipping starting November 13.
With that in mind, if you want to buy the 12 or 12 Pro, we’ve rounded up the best iPhone 12 deals below. If you’re interested in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini, we’ve also included the options below, but you’ll need to wait a couple of weeks to pre-order.
If you head over to Best Buy right now, you can save up to $1,000 on your new iPhone 12. It all depends on the carrier you choose. First, Sprint, now part of T-Mobile, lets you save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and an eligible device’s trade-in. We then focus on AT&T, where you can save up to $800 on your new device with the same conditions as Sprint, which means you have to activate a new line on one of AT&T’s qualified plans, and you also have to trade-in an eligible device.
Now, if you want to get your new iPhone 12 on Verizon’s network, there are two options to choose from, as you can save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and trade-in on an iPhone 7 or newer. However, you may also want to consider the possibility of saving up to $1,000 thanks to a BoGo deal. To get this deal, you need a qualified activation on Unlimited plans for Verizon, and at least one new line is required. Savings will appear as a monthly bill credit, but it won’t be discounted through Best Buy at the time of purchase.
Still, if you don’t want to save on your new iPhone 12, you can also get your device on Verizon starting at $33.33/mo. For 24 months. Sprint will have you paying $34.58/mo. For two years, but if you want to pay less, you can go for AT&T’s option that will have you paying $26.67/mo. But this also means you will have to pay for 30 months.
If you head over to Apple’s online store, you will see that the iPhone 12 is selling for $799, if you buy it upfront, or you can get it with an installment plan that will have you paying $33.29 a month. However, you can also choose to trade-in an eligible device, and this will get you up to $500 depending on the device you have to offer. Unfortunately, if you want your phone to come unlocked, you will have to pay $829 before trade-in, and your monthly payments would go up to $34.54.
If you don’t want to trade-in for an instant discount against your purchase, you can also trade-in your phone for an Apple Gift Card that can be redeemed in Apple’s stores or on Apple.com.
If you’d rather buy it from your carrier, we’ve also rounded up the best carrier deals below.
If you don’t want to take up any savings, you can get your new iPhone for as low as $29.16/mo, but there are several other options to consider, since Verizon is probably the carrier that offers more ways to save on your new iPhone 12.
Now, if you want to save some cash, you can trade-in an eligible device and get a new line to get up to $750 off. You can upgrade your current device and get up to $440 off, or buy one and get $800 off the second device, and yes, you are also going to need a new line.
More importantly, Verizon is also the network with the biggest deployment of those superfast 5G speeds that Apple mentioned. Alongside a new Nationwide 5G network launched alongside the new iPhone, Verizon has the 5G Ultra-wideband mmWave network that offers speeds of up to 4Gbps in 55 cities and growing.
Well, if you want to get your new device over at AT&T, you can get the 64GB base model for $26.67/mo. However, you can save up to $700 with an eligible trade-in, which would leave your new device for just $3.33/mo if you go for the 64GB base model. If you want more storage space, you would also end up paying more, as the 128GB version and the 256GB options would cost you $28.34 and $31.67/mo, respectively, or $5 and $8.33/mo.
T-Mobile is offering up to $830 savings on your new iPhone 12 after certain conditions have been met. First, you need to join Magenta and trade-in an eligible device, which basically will get you a new iPhone for free. You will see the trade-in credits and the balance in the 24 monthly bill credits for your new phone. Of course, you will have to trade in your iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or iPhone X in good condition to get your iPhone 12 for free. While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will get you up to $600 off, and previous models such as the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, and the iPhone 6S Plus can get you $450 savings.
As we expected, the iPhone 12 box doesn’t come with a power adapter or wired headphones. There is a USB-C to Lightning cable, so at least there’s that? If you don’t know what USB-C is, or you’re coming from an older iPhone and haven’t got a newish iPad or Macbook, you’ll probably need a USB-C power adapter.
If wired earbuds are a must, then the lack of headphone jack means you’ll want something that’s Lightning compatible. Apple’s official EarPods are the ones you used to get in the box and cost $19, whilst the upgrade pick if you’re interested in something wireless would be the original AirPods for $125. Of course, if you want the best true wireless earbuds for the iPhone right now, look no further than the AirPods Pro, which is currently on sale at $199!

The iPhone 12 Pro truly emerged as the ‘Pro’ phone this year by not just rocking an extra camera to stand out from the vanilla iPhone 12, but also some cool professional-grade features such as Apple ProRAW, LiDAR-driven night mode portrait, and Dolby Vision HDR video capture to name a few. It goes without saying that the cameras are a real investment on the iPhone 12 Pro, which also means you should protect them. Not a fan of cases? Not a problem. We’ve rounded up a list of the best iPhone 12 Pro camera lens protectors to save you the hassle:
For my personal favorites, I would pick the EGV 6-pack tempered glass camera lens and screen protector for the iPhone 12 Pro. For just around $12, you get a 9H tempered glass screen protector as well as a lens guard set, which is simply as sturdy as a product in this class gets. Plus, it has a case-friendly design, offers high material clarity, and also has flash rings to make sure that camera output is not affected.
However, if a conventional tempered glass lens protector doesn’t cut it for you and want something more minimalist, the WSKEN iPhone 12 Pro camera lens rings are just the right choice for you. Made out of a sturdy base with a strong adhesive to prevent them from falling off, and rocking an aluminum finish on top, this one is a great solution. Plus, you can color match it with the phone’s rear panel.

There is a transparent scratch and discolor-resistant back cover that highlights your iPhones signature look. The raised bezels on the back corners protect the camera lens from scratches.

Samsung’s flagship trio – the Galaxy S21, its Plus variant, and the Ultra model – has finally been unleashed, and it will be the high-end smartphone line-up to beat this year. And given what they bring to the table – and considering their high asking price as well – a lot of buyers will certainly be torn between the Galaxy S21 family and iPhone 12 series. The mid-tier member of Samsung’s flagship family – the Galaxy S21+ – goes straight up against the iPhone 12 Pro. Wondering how these two beasts stack against up against each other before you splurge some serious cash on one of them? Read this Galaxy S21 Plus vs iPhone 12 Pro comparison to find out:
Well, this one is going to be divisive, and will ultimately boil down to your personal preference. The Apple offering favors sharp lines and flat sides, while Samsung’s high-end device is all about curves and providing a comfortable in-hand feel. However, the design of Galaxy S21+ is fresh, while the iPhone 12 Pro’s aesthetics are more of a rehash from what we’ve seen on the iPhone 11 family already.
However, both the devices offer a rock-solid build, which employs glass and metallic sides. Over at the front, Apple uses what it calls Ceramic Shield that is claimed to be 4x stronger, while the Galaxy Galaxy S21+ opts for Corning’s latest Gorilla Glass protection. But the front is where things differ vastly. The iPhone 12 Pro greets you with a huge notch, while the Galaxy S21+ takes a much cleaner approach with a centered punch hole in accordance with the Infinity-O design philosophy.
Both the phones come with an IP68-rated build, which means they can handle water exposure with ease. However, don’t forget to put a case on these devices before an accidental fall or an unfortunate bump shatters that gorgeous glass-made rear panel. We’ve compiled an exhaustive list of the best cases for Galaxy S21+ and the iPhone 12 Pro, so do check them out on our website.
The Galaxy S21+ comes equipped with a 6.2-inch FHD + (2400 x 1080 pixels) Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the refresh rate value can be adjusted between 48Hz to 128Hz. The screen offers a peak brightness of 1300 nits, 421PPI pixel density, and Gorilla Glass 7 protection.
The iPhone 12 Pro, on the other hand, features a slightly smaller 6.1‑inch OLED display that offers a resolution of 2532×1170 pixels, which translates to a slightly higher pixel density of 460PPI. The peak brightness output, on the other hand, is lower than that of Samsung’s offering at 1200 nits. The biggest drawback, however, is that the iPhone 12 Pro is still limited to a 60Hz panel, which is nowhere as smooth as the one on the Galaxy S21+, be it for gaming, media consumption, or just doom-scrolling through your Twitter feed.
The Galaxy S21+ comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. However, in some regions, Samsung will sell a variant powered by its 5nm-based Exynos 2100 chip that is equally as fast and capable as the Qualcomm chip, at least going by on-paper specifications. The SoC ticks alongside 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of onboard storage. Do keep in mind that the storage is not expandable.
Coming to the iPhone 12 Pro, it relies on the blazing fast in-house A14 Bionic chip that is also based on the 5nm process. As for storage options, you can pick between 128GB, 256GB, and 512B models. We don’t know the official RAM figures, but you won’t come across any multi-tasking bottlenecks anytime soon on Apple’s offering.
Both the Samsung Galaxy S21+ and the iPhone 12 Pro come pack enough firepower to handle anything you throw at them with ease, and this will remain the case for at least the next couple of years. The key deciding factor here, in terms of performance, would be the software ecosystem you prefer, and the perks that come with each one of them.
On the connectivity front, you get 5G (Sub 6GHz and mmWave) on both the phones. Authentication on the Galaxy S21+ is handled by an in-display fingerprint sensor, while Apple relies on the Face ID facial authentication system.
Now, this is the reason most buyers will gravitate towards the Galaxy S21+ or the iPhone 12 Pro. Both the phones pack three rear cameras at the back, and a single selfie shooter. Starting with the Galaxy S21+, you get a 12MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide angle shooter, and a 64MP telephoto camera that offers up to 3x hybrid optical zoom range. On the front, you’ll find a 10MP snapper to handle selfie and video calling duties.
Coming to the iPhone 12 Pro, it features a 12MP wide-camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP telephoto camera that offers up to 4x optical zoom range. Upfront, you’ll find a 12MP True Depth camera. Oh, and there is a LiDAR sensor at the back as well that assists with low-light photography and enables some AR tricks as well.
While the hardware is powerful, it is the software tricks that truly separate the two phones apart. The Galaxy S21+ can capture 8K videos at up to 30fps, 4K videos at 60fps, slo-mo FHD videos at 120FPS, and 760p super slo-mo videos at 960fps. The iPhone 12 Pro doesn’t support 8K video capture, but it does add an option to shoot 4K videos at a cinematic 24fps frame rate.
However, the biggest advantage of going with the iPhone 12 Pro is that it can record Dolby Vision HDR video too. And you can play them and edit them natively as well. You also get support for Night mode Time-Lapse capture, Night mode portrait shots, and a new image format called Apple ProRAW that blends the benefits of RAW capture with Deep Fusion and Smart HDR 3 for more creative control.
The 12MP front camera on the iPhone 12 Pro is also truly impressive. It supports Night Mode for low-light photography, Dolby Vision HDR video capture at up to 30fps, 4K video capture at up to 60fps, and slo-mo 1080p video capture at 120fps.
Samsung has fitted a 4,000mAh battery inside the Galaxy S21 that supports fast charging, wireless charging as well as reverse wireless charging. The latter means you can also charge accessories such as earbuds by just keeping them on the phone’s rear panel.
Coming to the iPhone 12 Pro, we don’t know the official battery capacity in mAh figures. However, Apple touts up to 17 hours of local video playback and 11 hours of streaming video playback. You also get support for wireless charging and the new MagSafe hardware as well.
Coming to the pricing part, the Galaxy S21+ starts at $999.99, which is the same as the iPhone 12 Pro. Samsung’s flagship is up for grabs in Phantom Grey, Phantom White, Phantom Violet, Phantom Pink color options. Apple’s offering, on the other hand, is available in a choice of Silver, Graphite, Gold, and Pacific Blue trims.

It’s always interesting to see consumer data reports The latest one from Flurry Analytics focuses on the top ten smartphone models activated on Christmas Day 2020 in the United States, where iPhones were far superior to Android devices.
Christmas is a special celebration for many, and it’s also a great day for new smartphone activations. The latest report analyzed new activations during this event, and it shows that the iPhone 11 is the most popular device among consumers. Last year’s entry-level iPhone received five percent more love than its closest competitor.
This report measured device activations during the time period between December 18 and December 24, and it leaves the iPhone XR in second place, with the iPhone 12 Pro Max in the third spot. What’s more impressive is that nine of the ten devices featured in this report are iPhone models, leaving the tenth spot for the only Android device, which turned out to be the LG K30.
The latest iPhone 12 lineup took three spots, with the vanilla iPhone 12 following the 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Pro taking the sixth spot, which leaves the 12 mini out of the top ten. Still, we see the iPhone 8 and the 8 Plus taking the ninth and eighth spot, respectively. Flurry believes that the success of older models is because American consumers were more price-sensitive this holiday season.
However, Flurry Analytics also notes a 23 percent year-on-year smartphone activation drop, which is mainly because of the hardships and limitations 2020, and the ongoing pandemic has brought upon us.
“As you can see, activations this year are down 23% year-over-year, likely due to the financial hardships caused by COVID-19. Another possibility is that because Americans were encouraged to stay home and limit family gatherings, smartphone gift giving could be more spread out across the days before and after Christmas.”
