Kyocera DuraForce PRO arrives a little late at T-Mobile, last of the big four carriers

It's late, but it's still impressive that the rugged, nichey Kyocera DuraForce PRO Android smartphone reaches T-Mobile after Sprint, AT&T and Verizon.

Rugged Kyocera DuraForce PRO with built-in action camera expands to Sprint

Outdoor enthusiasts and enterprise users looking for a “dependable” smartphone capable of withstanding the “harshest environments and mishaps” may not want to pull the trigger on the merely IP57-rated HTC Bolt just yet.

Sprint has something better up for grabs starting today, at least from a rugged design standpoint, although the Kyocera DuraForce PRO actually debuted on AT&T a little while back. You probably won’t care about trivial carrier exclusivity when reminded of this muscular 5-incher’s IP68 certification for 30-minute water immersions up to 2 meters deep, or Military Standard 810G compliance.

The latter covers everything from protection against shock to vibration, temperature extremes, low pressure, solar radiation, icing/freezing rain and so on. But there’s also a Super Wide View 1080p Action Camera in tow that Kyocera and Sprint underscore as a key selling point, in addition to your conventional 13MP rear and 5MP front shooters.

The industry-first cam trio ensures you can even take the best possible snapshots underwater, as well as in other difficult “circumstances and environments.” All in all, the DuraForce PRO isn’t exactly your typical Android powerhouse, nonetheless impressing with its quality – pricing ratio at $432 on the Now Network, Full HD screen resolution, Snapdragon 617 processor, fingerprint reader and 3,240 mAh battery included.

Rugged Kyocera DuraForce PRO with unique trio of cameras gets AT&T launch date and price tag

While you may not be used to seeing ordinarily nichey ruggedized gadgets get as much mainstream attention as the recently unveiled Kyocera DuraForce PRO, this muscular 5-incher has a lot more going for it than just a robust, IP68-certified and Military Standard 810G-complying exterior.Following several non-rugged mobile trends, the DuraForce PRO doubles down on rear-facing cameras, also accommodating a ...

Kyocera DuraForce Pro is the first rugged smartphone with a built-in action cam

The “North American leader in rugged mobile solutions” is not one to adopt fancy new technologies and gimmicky features just because they’re trendy and everyone does it, so we probably should have expected a unique marketing angle and practical use case for the dual camera recently rendered on the back of the Kyocera DuraForce Pro.Indeed, the compact 5-inch sequel to last year’s far too large 5.7-inch DuraForce XD is now ...

Even the T-Mobile-bound Kyocera DuraForce PRO dons dual rear cameras

It’s probably going to be a little while until someone challenges the Xiaomi Redmi Pro for the title of world’s cheapest smartphone with a dual rear camera setup, but as far as the toughest such model goes, we have a winner today.Well, technically, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO will only reportedly see daylight on T-Mobile sometime in Q4, i.e. between October and December. Knowing the manufacturer however, and checking the unreleased handheld out in an unofficial render, there’s no doubt ...

Boost and Virgin welcome mid-rangers from Samsung, LG, and Kyocera

With yesterday’s launch of the HTC 10, smartphone shoppers have a new flagship option to consider, joining the growing ranks of this season’s heavyweights. And while these phones represent some attractive options, not everyone’s got the resources to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for the latest top-of-the-line handset. A freezer, a pool, and multiple drops: how we smashed the AT&T Kyocera DuraForce XD

We’re none of us fans here of intentionally breaking gadgets, but when a phone’s main selling point is durability, we try to find ways to test those claims. The tricky thing about rugged phones, there is no such thing as a truly indestructible device. If you try to break a rugged phone, eventually you will succeed. Still, we can learn a lot about how this gadget handled the abuse we lobbed at it.The Kyocera Duraforce XD gives off a monster first impression, but how well does that thicker, ...
