2021 looks like the year when 5G phones truly transcend price barriers and make their way into the hands of budget shoppers as well. While Chinese brands such as Realme and Xiaomi have launched 5G-ready phones that cost as little as $200 in the past few months, Samsung will also join the list this year. And not surprisingly, we already have a massive leak that shows off the company’s upcoming dirt-cheap 5G phone – the Galaxy A22.
Leakster Steve H. aka @OnLeaks (via Voice) has shared some detailed renders and a 360-degree video of the Galaxy A22 5G that gives us a clear look at it from all sides. The leakster mentions that the Galaxy A22 will be Samsung’s cheapest 5G phone, but there is no word on how much it will cost. Being a budget phone, the build is plastic, of course, and some pretty thick bezels to feast your eyes upon. The fingerprint sensor has been integrated into the power button, and there is a 3.5mm headphone jack as well.
Over at the front, the Galaxy A22 5G offers a 6.5-inch display with a V-shaped notch, a design language Samsung proudly calls Infinity-V. There’s no word on the resolution figures and other parameters such as brightness, but neither would be high enough to singe your retina given the price bracket it falls under. Samsung appears to have omitted the more modern hole-punch design as a cost-cutting measure here, but that’s not really where the true appeal of the device lies. Remember the whole ‘cheapest 5G phone’ hoopla?
There are three cameras at the back, but again, we don’t know how many pixels have been crammed on the sensor behind each lens. The lenses are surrounded by a square camera bump with rounded corners, and at first sight, it looks like Samsung has taken some inspiration from the Google Pixel 4a 5G here. Unfortunately, details about innards such as the processor powering it, battery capacity, and camera hardware are still under the covers, nor do we know about an expected price or official launch date.

Just a few days ago, some alleged CAD-based 3D renders of the iPhone 13 Mini made their way online, and soon after, concept renders based on it re-imagined the upcoming phone in all its colorful glory. Now, a hands-on image of what is being called an iPhone 13 Mini prototype has started making rounds of the internet. The image, which first started circulating on Chinese microblogging platform Weibo and later landed on Twitter, shows a blue iPhone 13 Mini.

This might be the last 'Mini' of its kind
The device is said to be a prototype, but it is unclear what prototype stage it belongs to. Apple devices go through multiple prototyping stages before certain changes are finalized and incorporated into the final product, while the rest are nixed without any details being made public. With that in mind, it is unclear if the iPhone 13 Mini prototype shown in the leaked image is one of the approved prototype models. Plus, some eagle-eyed users on Twitter have flagged that the image is a good Photoshop job, so do process this leak with a heavy dose of skepticism.
Now, coming to the actual design, it does look identical to the leaked CAD-based schematics, clearly identifiable by the diagonally-positioned rear camera lenses. Apple is reportedly making this change for the vanilla iPhone 13 as well, abandoning the vertically-aligned camera lens positioning on the iPhone 12 and its Mini sibling. We don’t get to see the device from the front, but the only change, as per leaks, will be a smaller notch.
The sides are flat and the build is likely the same glass and metal affair with support for MagSafe charging hardware, but with chances of a few new color options. Inside, a new A-series chip will drive the device, while a familiar dual 12MP camera setup will handle imaging duties. Apple is reportedly going to arm the iPhone 13 Mini with sensor-shift image stabilization technology that has so far been exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, replacing Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for better results.

While this is not the first time we get rumors talking about the new displays on the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup, this is one of the first times we get what seems to be some evidence behind it. We’ve been talking about the possibility of getting 120Hz refresh rates and a smaller notch in an iPhone since before the 12 lineup was released. However, the current iPhone lineup had to ditch 120Hz refresh rate displays to favor its battery, and well the only notch that got smaller was the one on the iPhone 12 mini.
Heard some rumors in the industry and media that there would only be one LTPO model from Apple later this year. Can confirm that is not the case. Apple fans can relax!

Now, it seems that we will indeed get this feature in the upcoming lineup, as a well-known analyst has just commented on the matter. Ross Young used his Twitter account to post some information regarding the display in the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup. He believes that we will receive two devices with LTPO displays, which would enable 120Hz refresh rates. Said devices are expected to be the higher-end iPhone 13 Pro and the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Buy iPhone 12The new LTPO OLED displays are more power-efficient, which means that they wouldn’t be so demanding on the iPhone’s battery, hence allowing the 120HZ feature to finally make its debut on these iOS devices. However, that’s not the only improvement that may arrive with the iPhone 13. We have seen a couple of leaks showing what is expected to be the glass front of the iPhone 13 lineup, and now, leaker DuanRui has posted images of what could be the newly redesigned notch for the iPhone 13.

We can clearly see the size difference between the notch in the iPhone 12 and what seems to be the possible “film samples” representing the final notch in the upcoming iPhone 13. These samples suggest that the new notch could be a bit taller than the current design, but it would be 30 percent narrower.

Infinix is a popular smartphone brand in parts of Europe, Africa, and Asia, and the company has a rising presence in India. The Infinix Note 8 was released late last year, and it seems a Note 10 Pro is on the way.
Previous reports and leaks already indicated that the Note 10 Pro would have a 6.9-inch 90Hz display, MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, 8GB RAM, and 5,000mAh battery. XDA has now obtained renders of the phone, showing off the massive screen and front-facing hole-punch camera in detail.
XDA Developers also shared a schematic image, which indicates the phone will have a rear bump with five cameras (though one or two of those could simply be monochrome cameras or FoV sensors that aid the other lenses). There’s also a USB Type-C port, headphone jack, and what appears to be a side-facing fingerprint sensor.
It remains to be seen what the Infinix Note 10 Pro will cost when it finally arrives, as well as what markets it will be sold in (India, at least, is a safe bet). The last phone in the series, the Note 8, was priced at around $200 when it was first released in 2020.
Meanwhile, Infinix is preparing to launch another phone in India this month, the Hot 10 Play. That model has a MediaTek Helio G35 chipset, 4GB RAM, and dual rear cameras.

Earlier this week, alleged CAD-based 3D renders of the iPhone 13 (via MySmartPrice) made their way online. And if Apple’s current product philosophy is anything to go by, the iPhone 13 Mini will follow in the design footsteps of the vanilla iPhone 13 as well. Now, the folks over at Svetaapple.sk have created life-like colored renders of the iPhone 13 Mini, giving us an idea of what the device might look like.
Over at the front, we see a smaller notch (just as Kuo had predicted), something that was hinted at via leaked images of the iPhone 13 series front glass a few weeks ago as well. Apple is said to have re-arranged the Face ID sensors to make the notch narrower. As a result, the front camera has been moved to the left side, while the earpiece is now at the top.
iPhone 13 Mini might be the last 'Mini'
The rear panel, however, is where the more discernable design tweak appears to have been made. To start, the two camera lenses are no longer aligned in a straight line – an arrangement we saw on the iPhone 12 and its Mini sibling. Instead, the two camera lenses on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Mini are now sitting diagonally, which actually looks better in my opinion. The two cameras will likely use 12MP sensors in a familiar wide + ultra-wide configuration, while the A15 Bionic SoC will keep things in motion inside.
The rest of the design language remains unchanged. You get the familiar flat sides with sharp edges, a flat panel on the front with uniformly slim bezels, and a glossy rear panel held in place by a metallic frame. As per leaks, Apple is going to arm the iPhone 13 Mini with sensor-shift image stabilization tech that has so far been exclusive to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. However, the iPhone 13 Mini might well be the last of its kind, as TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple won’t be launching a ‘Mini’ iPhone in 2022.

An Apple event has been rumored to take place since the end of February, but no official word has yet surfaced on the matter, neither in the form of an announcement nor invites to the said (virtual) event.
Apparently, we do have a date, and it’s thanks to Siri. Mark your calendars, if Siri is to be believed, for Tuesday, April 20, 2021. In reply to the question “When is the next Apple Event”, Siri responds with “The special event is on Tuesday, April 20, at Apple Park in Cupertino, CA. You can get all the details on Apple.com”, as seen in the screenshot above.
New iPad Pro models as well as the rumored AirTags are expected to take the virtual stage.
Apple usually sends out official invites about a week prior to the event, which happens to be today. We’ll have to wait and see if Apple confirms the Siri leak, which, in and of itself is funny, if you think about it.

Disclaimers first. Take this Pixel Watch leak with the proverbial pinch of salt. Actually, a lot of it.
Now, let’s talk news. Looks like Google is finally ready to launch the often-rumored-and-canceled Pixel Watch. And as per leakster Jon Prosser, it might finally happen in October this year. In the latest episode of his YouTube show FrontPageTech, Prosser gave us a glimpse of the Pixel Watch’s designs. The renders, which Prosser claims were made after seeing actual material for the upcoming Google smartwatch, show a device with a round dial.
Actually, the Pixel Watch looks fantastic – assuming it’s the real deal. There is a very strong Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 vibe here, but there are a few key differences here. First, the front glass appears curved and slopes around the periphery – almost like the waterfall display on a few HUAWEI phones – and meets the metallic frame. There is a single button – or to put it more accurately, a crown -on the right side, and it appears to have been inspired by the one on Apple Watch.
Say what you will about being a copycat, but Pixel Watch looks fantastic. In the renders, I mean!
But the overall profile of Pixel Watch looks slimmer and lighter than what we’ve seen on other round smartwatches from the likes of Samsung, HUAWEI, and Motorola. Google appears to have laid a considerable emphasis on the design aspect, from the case to the band. Talking about the band, the inner side appears to have ridges. But they’re apparently not just design elements. In fact, the locking mechanism of the clasp actually uses these ridges to make adjustments around your wrist.
Prosser claims that there will be over 20 band styles to choose from, while the watch face, as well as a few UI elements that are shown in the video, depict a very clean and minimalist software design. Talking about software though, Google is apparently going to give Wear OS a facelift. Well, it’s high time, Google! Unfortunately, details about the innards and key specs of the Pixel Watch are still under the wraps.
However, Prosser makes it clear that the Pixel Watch plans are fluid, and the launch date might be shifted from the October timeframe he predicts. And Google being, well, Google, the smartwatch project might again be put on ice. So, do process this leak with some skepticism and keep your hopes not-sky-high. Until then, gaze at these renders and think of the possibilities:

It looks like a Surface Laptop refresh is on the horizon. Alleged images of the Surface Laptop 4 popped up online back in November, and some of its key specs were leaked earlier this year. Now, official Microsoft support pages for the upcoming laptops have gone live, and they confirm the existence of Intel and AMD-powered variants.
First spotted by leakster WalkingCat (@_h0x0d_on Twitter), there are two separate support pages for downloading drivers and firmware files for the AMD and Intel chip-powered variants of the Surface Laptop. In a separate tweet, the leakster hinted about a Surface launch event happening next week, but so far, we haven’t heard anything official from Microsoft.
11th Gen Intel CPUs, but a generation-old AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors
However, a previous leak claims to have given us an idea about the innards of Surface Laptop 4. Microsoft will reportedly offer the Surface Laptop 4 in two options – 11th Gen Intel processors and AMD Ryzen chips. On the Intel side of things, buyers will get to choose between Core i5-1145G7 and Core i7-1185G7 processors. Microsoft is going to equip the machine with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, however, lower-end configurations with 8GB or 16GB RAM and 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB onboard storage will also be on the table.
If you’re intrigued by the AMD version of Surface Laptop 4, there might be some disappointment here, as Microsoft is going with the older AMD Ryzen 4000 series processors instead of the new Ryzen 5000 chips. You will get a choice between Ryzen 5 4680U or Ryzen 7 4980U processors, ticking alongside 16 gigs of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage.
Just like its predecessors, the Surface Laptop 4 will be available in two sizes – 13.5-inch (2256 x 1504 pixels) and 15-inch (2496 x 1664 pixels) – retaining the 3:2 aspect ratio. Port selection will again be paltry, as you only get one USB-A port, one USB-C port, and the proprietary Surface Connect port for charging. As for aesthetics, Microsoft is apparently going to recycle the same design for another year.

In case you haven’t already come across hundreds of social media obituaries about LG and the articles detailing its rise and fall, the LG smartphone brand is dead. And with the company’s exit from the market, a few high-profile upcoming phones have also been nixed. Not that we didn’t hear about that happening much earlier, but the official confirmation still came as a bittersweet surprise. Among those canceled projects were the V70 ThinQ flagship and the Rollable, both of which have now appeared in leaked images.

Starting with the V70 ThinQ aka Rainbow, this one was going to succeed the LG V60 ThinQ, a high-end Android flagship that came with a cool dual-screen attachment and powerful internals. The white rear panel appears to be made out of glass that slopes on the sides to meet the metallic frame. The overall design is reminiscent of the LG Velvet, which itself marked the beginning of a fresh design language for premium LG phones. But as fate would have it, the Velvet will walk off into the sunset as a one-of-a-kind LG phone sporting a design unlike any other in the company’s portfolio.
The second one- and probably the more high-profile cancellation – was the LG Rollable. LG teased the device at CES 2021 and it was scheduled to debut later this year. The device had a rollable screen that expanded to turn the phone into tablet mode, somewhat like the OPPO X 2021, which itself might not be launched commercially.
LG Rollable was the second phone under the Explorer Project initiative – the first one was the swiveling LG Wing – that sought to explore innovative ideas and newer form factors for smartphones. Among all the rollable phone concepts I’ve seen so far, the LG offering looked the most practical. We never got to know about the innards or the technology behind that extending-retracting display, and it is likely that we never will. So long for a promising product that could’ve revived LG’s fortunes in a nascent segment.
