Windows Phone 8 GDR2 update hits more and more phones

One week ago, we saw Microsoft post a new entry on its Windows Phone 8 update history page, describing the platform’s GDR2 update. While it was arriving from the factory on certain new handset, we had yet to witness the update go out to existing phones. Seeing that page change made us wonder if updates were forthcoming, and it seems that notion was right on the money; let’s take a look at what’s happened. Deals With Carriers Are Hurting Nokia’s Lumia Lineup

Smartphone names, as a rule, are pretty awful. Some manage better than others, yet for every iPhone 5, there’s another HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE. There a number of things a company can do to make things work, including keeping things simple, using descriptive terms where appropriate, and making it clear where devices fall as part of a larger lineup. Nokia’s been skating around a real promising idea with its Lumia models, ditching a lot of the confusing branding we ...

Very sad news for all of you who purchased the budget-minded Nokia Lumia 810 with the promise that T-Mobile would unlock the Band 4 LTE that’s hidden inside the chassis. As it turns out, even though the company made some sort of promise that all the devices with the hardware capabilities would get updated in order to use their new 4G LTE network, well, it seems that either T-Mobile is seeing this as another business opportunity to sell phones, or Nokia is. In a very short statement today, T-Mobile has made their ...

Nokia Lumia 810 Tipped to Receive T-Mobile LTE-Enabling Update

T-Mobile is finally starting to get with the times and is readying itself to offer LTE service. We’ve recently learned about limited testing currently underway, and have heard about some of its handsets, like the Galaxy Note II, already packing LTE hardware for when the service is finally widely available. There’s one more ready to be added to that list, with news arriving that the Nokia Lumia 810 will get its own LTE-enabling update. While that may not be ...
