Lately, some of the flagship features are trickling down to the mid-range segment. Specifications like a 108MP camera and a 120Hz refresh rate display are now pretty common for mid-range smartphones in Asian countries like India and China. It looks like Motorola is gearing up to embrace the trendy features. It is rumored that the company is working on two Moto G-series devices, namely, Moto G60 and Moto G40 Fusion. Both of them will share a set of features. More details of the upcoming duo have leaked online.

According to tipster Mukul Sharma, both the Moto G60 and Moto G40 Fusion will come with a high refresh rate display and offer a long-lasting battery life. The latter has been the highlight of Motorola smartphones in the past. I’ve reviewed the Moto G9, Moto G10 as well as the latest Moto G30, and all of them had great battery life. Now, Motorola is tipped to be upping its game by including a 6000mAh cell in its upcoming G-series smartphones.

Moreover, the smartphones are said to come equipped with a 120Hz refresh rate with support for HDR10. These features could make the next duo media powerhouse. However, it is not known yet if the display would have an LCD panel or AMOLED. The Moto G60 is rumored to have a 6.78-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,460 pixels) display. Both the smartphones are said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC. The G60 is tipped to come in 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB/ 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage configurations.

Plus, the Moto G60 could sport a 108MP primary camera. It might be accompanied by a 16MP OV16A1Q sensor with a wide-angle lens and a 2MP camera. On the front, you might get a 32MP selfie shooter. Previously, it was rumored that the Moto G60 could be called Moto G40 Fusion. However, Mukul replied to my question and confirmed that both are two separate devices. These could be launched in India soon.

Moto G60 leaks show Motorola is finally waking up to 2021 phone trends

Motorola has been in overdrive mode so far in 2021. From launching a Snapdragon 870-powered budget flagship to multiple Moto G-series budget phones, the company is trying really hard to diversify its portfolio. And it appears that the company is in no mood to put a brake on that streak. Earlier this month, the first details of an upcoming budget phone- the Moto G60 – surfaced online. Now, the device has appeared in leaked renders with its key specs in tow, alongside chatter of an interesting re-branding strategy as well.

If the leaked renders are legit, Motorola is going to change things around in the aesthetics department with the Moto G60. Instead of the waterdrop-style notch that we recently saw on the Moto G50 and G30 smartphones, the Moto G60 is going with a modern centered hole-punch design. This is likely the first budget Motorola smartphone with this design language so far, as the Moto G100 goes for a cornered dual hole-punch design.

Moto G60 for Europe, but Moto G40 Fusion in India and Brazil

As per TechnikNews, the phone will be launched under two names in different markets rocking a slightly different camera setup. In Europe, Motorola will equip it with a 108MP main camera and will launch it as the Moto G60. Only a single 6GB+128GB memory configuration will be up for grabs here. In Brazil and India, the device will reportedly debut as Moto G40 Fusion and will rock a toned-down 64MP primary snapper. In these markets, Motorola will launch the phone in two variants – 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB – but lacking NFC support.

The 108MP main camera on the Moto G60 will be accompanied by an 8-megapixel ultra-wide snapper and a 2MP depth sensor. There will be a 32MP sensor to take care of selfies, while the Moto G40 Fusion will trim that megapixel count to 16MP. Rest of the leaked specs include a 6.78-inch FHD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate, while a fairly large 6,000mAh battery will keep the lights on.

Moto G60 is in the pipeline rocking a 120Hz display and 108MP camera: Report

Motorola has lately launched a host of new G series phones and budget flagship as well, and is prepping a few more for a debut in the imminent future as per leaks. Among them is the Moto G50 mid-ranger, the Snapdragon 870-powered Moto G100. Now, the folks over at XDA-Developers have unearthed some key details about another upcoming device called the Moto G60 that has recently popped in leaks carrying the codename ‘Hanoip’ and running Android 11.

Moto G60 will likely be the first in the G-series to pack a 120Hz display

The Moto G60 will reportedly come equipped with a 6.78-inch FHD+ (2460 x 1080 pixels) display with a centered hole-punch display. Interestingly, the screen is said to offer a 120Hz refresh rate. If true, it would make Moto G60 the first device in the Moto G series to offer a 120Hz screen. Lately, we have seen the likes of Xiaomi offer devices with a 120Hz display such as the Mi 10i in the budget segment, with Poco X3 joining the list as well. However, it is unclear if the Motorola offering will come equipped with an AMOLED or LCD panel.

Coming back to the Moto G60, it will feature three cameras at the back. The report adds that Motorola’s upcoming phone will come in multiple variants, and one of them will come equipped with a 108MP main camera that relies on Samsung’s ISOCELL HM2 sensor. There is also a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera that uses the OV16A1Q sensor, accompanied by another 2MP camera, likely a macro snapper or a depth sensor. On the front is a 32MP front camera.

Moto G60 will reportedly arrive in multiple variants

Another variant of the Moto G60 will reportedly downgrade from a 108MP main camera with a 64MP snapper, while the front camera goes down to a 16MP snapper. Aside from the more powerful camera, Motorola is apparently working on new camera tricks as well such as an AI-driven low-light mode, document mode (likely for scanning documents), smudge detection, and dual capture video (likely allowing users to capture video or photo from the rear and front camera simultaneously).

As for the chip at its heart, rumors suggest that the phone will come equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC. It will tick alongside either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, and 64GB or 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage. However, there is no concrete information regarding the phone’s asking price or an official launch date.
