Best Buy now charges a measly $5 a month for Moto Z Droid on device payments ($120 total)

Still looking for the best post-Black Friday deal on one of Lenovo’s sweet modular Moto Z-series smartphones? A half-off Z Play purchased alongside a standard Z sounded pretty tempting, and so did a $500 (down from $700) unlocked Motorola Moto Z.

But that was before Verizon trimmed the monthly device payment of the Moto Z Droid down to $10 from $26, with Best Buy further undercutting the carrier’s special offer to a completely irresistible $4.99.

That’s 5 bucks a month for two years, adding up to a crazy low grand total of just $120. No strings attached, no trade-ins required, no rebates involved or tricky fine print of any sort to take into consideration.

All you need to do is order the Verizon-exclusive 32GB Moto Z Droid 4G LTE online from Best Buy today, or pick it up in a physical store nearby, sign up to device payments, and you’ll procure possibly the world’s cheapest brand-name flagship Android phone. With Nougat now on deck, Daydream VR compatibility, Moto Mod add-on support, 5.5-inch Quad HD screen greatness, Snapdragon 820 processing power, 4GB RAM, and an absurdly thin 5.2mm profile.

For $120 spread over 24 months, you can even tolerate the otherwise scandalous 3.5mm headphone jack omission, no?

Verizon’s best phones are free all weekend long with eligible trade-ins

Does $10 a month still feel a little rich for your blood, although the “made by Google” Pixel is certainly worth a whole lot more than $240 all in all? Taking a page from T-Mobile’s earlier revealed Black Friday playbook, Verizon will let traders of select like-new devices to pick up brand-new, sizzling hot high-end phones for absolutely no charge all weekend long.

Slightly less restrictive than Magenta’s free phone promotional program, Big Red’s top holiday deal includes the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, Pixel, Pixel XL, Moto Z Droid, Z Droid Force, Galaxy S7, and S7 Edge.

Any of these can be yours at “no cost with no money down” on device payment plans, as long as you’re willing to give up a mint condition iPhone 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, Edge+, S7, S7 Edge, Note 5, LG V20, G5 or Moto Droid Turbo 2 starting today online, and in physical stores on the actual Black Friday.

To further sweeten the deal, Verizon will give away $200 Visa prepaid cards for every line switched to America’s largest carrier up to a grand total of four, as well as shave $250 off any iPad with iPhone 7 or 7 Plus purchases.

If you’d rather just get a 32GB iPad mini 2, its on-contract price is brought all the way down to $99 Thursday and Friday only, while the Ellipsis 10 Android tablet is $49 with a new two-year agreement for a limited time. A bunch of accessories are also heavily discounted through either Friday or Sunday, including a $100 UE Boom 2, $90 Fitbit Charge HR, and $35 Mophie Powerstation XL.

Motorola takes $250 off its priciest Moto Mods bundled with Z phones for Black Friday

Friday can’t come soon enough for a wide range of US retailers and mobile device manufacturers operating stateside, with Motorola, aka Lenovo, the latest to jump the gun by slashing the prices of select Moto Z-compatible Mods.

Right now, you can score both the Insta-Share Projector and Hasselblad True Zoom snap-on accessories from motorola.com/us at $250 off list, but only if you buy either of them alongside a Moto Z, Z Force or Z Play phone.

Typically setting you back $300 apiece, the professional projector and “true” 10x optical zoom camera attachments will technically cost just $50 for a limited time, requiring you cough up a grand total of $674 on a Moto Z Droid bundle, $770 for the Z Force Droid with your Moto Mod of choice, or $458 if the lower-end Z Play Droid tickles your fancy, Insta-Share or Hasselblad appendage included.

Not a big Verizon fan? Not a problem, as the standard Moto Z and Z Play are on sale in GSM unlocked configurations too, going for $750 and $500 respectively, once again bundled with your favorite top-class Moto Mod.

If you’re lucky, you may also be able to get a second-generation Moto 360 smartwatch with a leather band at $250 instead of $350, though both elegant cognac and black flavors are currently listed as out of stock. Perhaps they’ll return in time for the actual Black Friday.

Moto Z officially gets Android Nougat, Daydream VR

As seen on Reddit last week, the updates came by the few to those with the Droid. But soon, they will make their way in waves across all Moto Z and Moto Z Force handsets.

Motorola has just announced that Android 7.0 Nougat is getting its official roll-out this week to the two devices, though we don’t have any specific dates to watch out for. This comes days after the Verizon-exclusive Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid phones started receiving the update.

Users were able to get grips on the Daydream VR platform and Motorola confirms that every phone will be able to do just as much, putting discussions to rest about whether phones with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset can support it.

Check with our source link to keep updated on your model’s particular progress with the OTA, be it coming from the carrier or Motorola directly.

Reddit’s getting Android Nougat for Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid

More Nougaty action in the Motorola family is coming its users ways. More than just the Moto G4, the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid are getting an update to Android 7.0.

Two separate threads in the Moto_Z subreddit have shown off both Verizon-exclusive devices with the system update screen in its glory. Unfortunately, unlocked versions are not into the action just yet. But, at least with the Moto Z Force Droid, we do have access to Daydream VR — good for your View headset.

The spread is apparently on, we just hope that unlocked units get their spread on sooner than later.
