OPPO debuts the Snapdragon 870-powered Find X3, and it makes a lot more sense

OPPO has today launched a trio of phones – the flagship Find X3 Pro, Find X3 Neo, and the Find X3 Lite. However, the company has also launched a fourth member of the family – the eponymous OPPO Find X3 – in China. This one has a design that is identical to the Find X3 Pro, and shares almost all of the internal hardware as well. The only key difference between the vanilla OPPO Find X3 and its Pro model is that the former relies on a different SoC and packs less amount of RAM.

OPPO Find X3 goes with Snapdragon 870, the Find X3 Pro relies on Snapdragon 888

The standard OPPO Find X3 comes equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC that is paired with 8 gigs of RAM. On the other hand, the OPPO Find X3 Pro is driven by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC ticking alongside 12GB of RAM. Another difference is the color options on the table – the Chinese market gets a pearl white trim with a matte glass texture, alongside the glossy black and blue colors that are also available for the OPPO Find X3 Pro.

Starting with the display, you get a 6.7-inch QHD+ (3216 x 1440 pixels) curved AMOLED panel with support for Adaptive tech that dynamically adjusts the screen refresh rate between 5Hz and 120Hz based on the content you are watching on it. The peak brightness is 1,300 nits, while the pixel density figure stands at 525PPI. You get to choose between two OPPO Find X3 storage models – 128GB or 256GB.

oppo find x3 white

In the camera department, the OPPO offering packs a 50MP main snapper and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, both of which are backed by the Sony IMX766 sensor. You also get a 13MP telephoto camera that delivers up to 5x hybrid optical and 20x digital zoom range. There is also a 3MP macro (OPPO calls it micro) camera that offers up to 60x magnification, letting the OPPO Find X3 double as a hand-held microscope. On the front, you’ll find a 32MP selfie camera housed in a hole-punch.

The standard Find X3 also gets a white color option with a matte glass finish

There is a 4,500mAh battery to keep the lights on, and it supports the proprietary 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast charging technology. The OPPO Find X3 also offers support for 30W wireless charging as well. It runs Android 11-based ColorOS 11.2 and offers an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication.

As for the pricing, you’ll have to shell out CNY 4,499 (~ $693) for the base 8GB + 128GB model, while the higher-end 8GB+256GB version will set you back by CNT 4,999 (~ $770). The device will hit the shelves starting March 19 in China. However, the company has not detailed whether this Snapdragon 870-powered device will go on sale in the international market.

The vanilla Find X3 sounds like a better deal, by far!

In comparison, the OPPO Find X3 Pro costs almost double at GBP 1,099 (~ $1,530) / EUR 1,149. To put that into perspective, the only trade-off made by the standard OPPO Find X3 is that it packs 8GB of RAM (compared to 12GB on the Pro model), and relies on the Snapdragon 870 SoC (instead of the Snapdragon 888 inside the Find X3 Pro). But the combination is more than capable of handling any task you throw the phone with ease.

Moreover, the rest of the goodies such as the capable quad rear camera system, the 120Hz LTPO curved AMOLED display, and support for 65W wired and 30W wireless charging are all there on the OPPO Find X3, but at almost half the premium demanded by its Pro sibling.

The OPPO Find X3 could arrive with an LTPO screen

We are less than a week away from the launch of the new OPPO Find X3, which means that we will most likely start to get tons of leaks about the upcoming flagship. The latest information comes from a well-known source, who believes that the Find X3 will be the first mobile phone to feature an LTPO screen outside of Samsung’s ranks.

The new OPPO Find X3 is just around the corner. We have already seen what could be the first images of the device and a teaser video that shows a very sexy-looking device. However, the latest leak comes from Twitter, where Ice Universe posted that “In addition to Samsung, the first mobile phone to use an LTPO screen is the OPPO Find X3 series.” He then continues to say that this tech will give the new device a variable refresh rate that will go between 5Hz and 120Hz.

Further, he believes that the panel inside the new OPPO Find X3 will be Samsung’s E4 with 10-bit color support, meaning that it will be the first device in the market with an LTPO screen, after Samsung’s devices, of course. The device is also rumored to include a pair of 50MP cameras, with Sony’s IMX766 sensor behind the show. And since we’re talking internals, we may also add that this device could hold a 4,500mAh battery with 65W Super VOOC 2.0 fast charging and ColorOS11 on top of Android 11.

Now, I’m just waiting to see this new device’s impact in the current Chinese market, as OPPO has grown enough to surpass Huawei as China’s top smartphone OEM. Yeah, anybody can say that the main reason behind this shift in the United States and every single trade sanction against Huawei. Now, don’t get me wrong, OPPO phones are great, but I would like to see both of these companies competing without the limitations exerted over Huawei. That way, we could see the new OPPO Find X3 going against any Huawei flagship without external influences.

OPPO Find X3 series launch set for March 11

Let’s stay with the official news as, it looks like we’re in for a busy March, starting with OPPO. We’ve been covering leaks of the Find X3 Series for a while now, including launch dates.. And now we have the real deal. The company took to Twitter to send out press invitations for an event happening on March 11th. No secrets here as they’re titling it OPPO Find X3 Series Launch Event, but it does have the caption “Awaken Color”. That last bit is most likely alluding to the 6.7-inch OLED display we’re expecting which is rumored to bring some impressive capabilities. We’re expecting 3 phones but, speaking about the Find X3 Pro, we’ve heard that this phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, a 4500 mAh battery, run Android 11 out of the box, and come in a single variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. As for the cameras, the rumors have pointed to a triple camera array with a new main 50MP lens from Sony and it should cost somewhere around 1000 Euros. We’ll see what we get in a few days.

OnePlus 9 Pro leak predicts support for 4K video capture at 120 FPS

OnePlus 9 / 9 Pro color options tipped ahead of purported March launch

OnePlus 9 series, OnePlus Watch launch date tipped to be March 23

Talking about things we’ll be getting in March, let’s move the spotlight on to OnePlus as we have a lot of ground to cover today. Starting with the date, earlier this morning they posted a new tweet with an image showing the Moon’s surface and the Earth far away with the caption “Something new is on the horizon”. The tweet tells us to stay tuned for March 8th and according to some tipsters, on this specific date we’ll be getting the official date for the event which is reportedly March 23rd. We’re currently expecting 3 phones from OnePlus for the 9 Series, including the OnePlus 9R or Lite, 9 and 9 Pro. Another tipster also shared the color variants we should be getting which will vary depending on what carrier you get. Just to mention the ones for the unlocked variants, the regular 9 is getting an Astral Black, Arctic Sky and Winter Mist, while the 9 Pro will have Stellar Black, Forest Green and Morning Mist. Finally, we also have a new leak on the camera capabilities. According to the tip, the OnePlus 9 Pro will be able to capture 8K video, and 4K videos at 120 FPS. Nice boost when compared to the 4K at 60 we got with the 8 Pro. The new camera setup should include a 50MP main sensor from Sony, along with a 48MP wide angle. And I mean, we’re already in March so leaks should get pretty busy in the next few weeks.

Kuo predicts a foldable iPhone might arrive in 2023

Apple will go for a hole-punch on ‘some iPhones’ in 2022: Kuo

iPhone SE refresh arrives in 2022 with a faster chip and 5G support: Report

Finally, for the hottest news today part one, cause that’s become kind of a theme lately, let’s talk Apple. Let’s begin with the future Apple products, meaning next year and further, and we’ll leave the last segment for the stuff we expect this year. Yes, Ming Chi Kuo went on a rampage yesterday on things we should be expecting from Apple soon and not so soon. Let’s start with the iPhone SE as, we were hearing some rumors that we’d be getting a new model some time this year but, according to Kuo, this refresh won’t happen until 2022. According to his prediction, it will be rocking the same design as the current SE, meaning the iPhone 8 which is kind of disappointing considering it already feels pretty dated. It’ll of course be equipped with the latest A chip and it will bring 5G support. However, there is still rumors for that iPhone SE Plus which has apparently been delayed for the second half of this year. On another note, Kuo also claims that some iPhones might feature a punch hole design next year, claiming that if production yields are good enough, all 2022 models might use the design. This means that Apple either found out a way to hide Face ID under the display, or we’re sticking to Touch ID. Finally, let’s talk foldable, as Kuo mentions that the foldable panel will measure around 7.5 and 8-inches arriving some time in 2023. However, he does claim that this project hasn’t “officially kicked off yet”, meaning there might be a ton of changes and it could probably not even happen.

Story of the day:

Apple is reportedly NOT adopting USB-C for iPhones anytime soon

iPhone 13 series to rock a smaller notch, larger battery, and upgraded camera tech: Kuo

Finally, for the hottest news today, part 2… again.. That’s some very strong coffee Kuo had a sip of, cause he also chimed in on more things we could expect from this year’s iPhones. Let’s begin by talking about USB-C, according to the report, they claim that USB-C is detrimental to their iPhone program’s profitability, but its waterproof specification is actually lower than Lightning and MagSafe, so if Apple does abandon Lightning, they might directly go for a port-less MagSafe iPhone, instead of adopting USB-C. Which I mean, it makes sense I guess, we just hope MagSafe gets better. Moving on to the actual iPhones Kuo is reiterating some rumors we’ve heard before, just giving us some reassurance. He claims that the whole iPhone 13 family will support a smaller notch, with the same width but getting thinner as Cupertino is re-arranging the Face ID sensors. Kuo mentions that both of the Pros will bring 120Hz refresh rate with that new LTPO display. Also, speaking of the Pros, the LiDAR sensor will apparently remain exclusive to those 2 for the time being. Apparently all of the iPhone 13 models will bring sensor-shift image stabilization technology as well, with other improvements to the cameras as well. We’ll also be getting Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X60 5G modem, larger batteries, and again, no USB-C.

Samsung Galaxy S21, Google Pixel 4a and more are on sale today

The OnePlus 8 series, Microsoft laptops and more are on sale today

4th-gen Echo, and more accessories to pimp out your home office are on sale right now

Let’s end the week like we start it, with deals. I find it crazy that phones that were launched a month ago are already seeing discounts but the brand new Galaxy S21 is now 150 dollars off on both Amazon and B&H, meaning it starts at 700 dollars and add free shipping to that. Moving on to Verizon for a second, they have the Google Pixel 4a for 240 dollars off if you have a device to trade-in and you grab a new phone line, cause of course it wasn’t gonna be that easy. The new Amazon Echo is 20 dollars off, leaving it at 80 dollars shipped. OnePlus also has the OnePlus 8 for 200 dollars off if you get the 12GB of RAM variant, leaving it at 600 dollars. The 8 Pro is also getting the same treatment where that same variant will cost you 800 dollars. Finally, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is available for 80 dollars off on Amazon, leaving the entry level model for 1219 dollars. We also have deals on more Amazon speakers, Surface Laptops, Beats Headphones and more in the links below.

Samsung’s “Buy and Try” program will let you try out foldables for 100 days

Let’s move on to foldables and official news, for a couple of segments actually… I know, what’s wrong with the world today? But don’t worry, they’re actually worth it. We know that Samsung is probably the biggest player in the foldable market but, this market isn’t exactly mainstream just yet, with the biggest problem being the price tags and the existing concerns. I mean, imagine spending so much money on a phone and not being sure if it’s sturdy enough to last your average use.. Which yes, is why we have the After The Buzz series.. Let me know if you’d like that for the Z Fold 2. Well, it looks like Samsung kind of has a solution for this. The company is launching a new “buy and try” program on Samsung.com where, if you buy the Galaxy Z Fold 2 or a Z Flip 5G, you will have to pay the full price for the device *but*.., instead of the typical 14 days or 30 days for a return period, you’ll have up to 100 days to return the device if you figure out that this isn’t the right fit for you. And of course, you’re still paying full price for the device unless you get one of those trade-in deals but, if you were thinking on buying and weren’t sold.. This is a pretty good way to test the waters out. We’ll make sure to have links for both of these devices in the links below… though that said, this program ends on April 1st. You might have to act quick, but then it makes me wonder if there’s something else coming in April?

OPPO Find X3 series alleged price and color variants leaked

Now let’s talk about OPPO, as we’re still expecting the company to launch a Find X3 Series relatively early this year if last year was any indication. Rumors hint that it would come out some time in March so, naturally, certifications and leaked images have started flowing in. According to a new report from 91Mobiles, their source claims that the Find X3 Pro will come in 4 color options, that being blue, white, orange and black. Now as for specs, apparently there will only be a single variant that’ll pack 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and it will be priced between €1000 and €1200. Now, we’re also expecting the Find X3 Neo which will reportedly be a rebranded Reno5 Pro+ which will bring the same amount of RAM and Storage for around €851 and €973. Finally, the Find X3 Lite will bring 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and it will be priced at around €400 to €500. Now, focusing on the Pro, we’re hearing that the other specs include a Snapdragon 888 SoC, Android 11, a 4500 mAh battery, triple cameras at the back and OPPO will apparently be focusing a lot on that new display. We’re pretty much already in March so, let’s see what we get.

14-inch MacBook Pro to arrive with mini-LED display and more?

Let’s move on to Apple and those Macs we’re expecting to come very soon. Earlier this week we covered a new report from Ming Chi Kuo where he claimed we would be getting 2 new Macs in the second half of 2021,.. you know those that sound just too good to be true by featuring an SD Card reader and an HDMI port, along with a brighter display.. all things consumers actually want from a pro computer. Now, we have a new report from DigiTimes that gives us more information on those new displays. According to the report “Apple is expected to unveil 14 and 16-inch mini-LED backlit MacBook Pro models, with a company called Radiant being the exclusive supplier of BLUs . Of course, this just serves as further conformation that Apple is finally moving on to these displays after years of rumors. As for the Macs, other reports claim that we should expect them around the middle of the year but still in the second half so, September or October event? Other things we’re expecting from these Macs include new and faster Apple Silicon chips, MagSafe with faster charging, and they could also be getting rid of the Touch Bar. Honestly, these just keep sounding to good to be true that I’m seriously gonna have a drink and celebrate if they become a reality. Fine maybe more than one drink.

Story of the day:

Facebook wants you to believe that ads are good in the name of small businesses

And finally, for the most hilarious news today, let’s talk about Facebook. You know I’d rather avoid talking about them as I’ve never been secretive about my lack of admiration for its practices, but here goes. Over the past couple of weeks, maybe even months, Facebook has been going after Apple for the privacy changes we’re supposed to be getting with iOS 14.5, where you’ll choose if you want apps to track you or not. Well, yesterday, Facebook put out a new blogpost titled,.. hear this, “Let’s Talk About Why Personalized Ads Matter”. If you want to read it, we’ll leave the link in the description but just to give you the shorter version, they are trying to convince you that “you need your online habits tracked, in order for them to provide more ads for you, and you should actually be thankful that Facebook is doing that”. Oh, and they’re actually launching an ad campaign to go along with it titled “Good Ideas Deserve to be Found”. Now, here’s the thing, we agree that Good Ideas Deserve to be found, I mean, the ad does make a point on how difficult it is for small businesses to be found, the question is why are they insisting so much on the tracking. It’s simple, those who want targeted ads will opt in, those who don’t want them, or find it creepy that they’re tracked, wont. Now, Facebook was attempting to sue Apple, we’re not sure on how that’s currently going but one of the reasons why it might not have made it to court, is because Facebook’s own employees agree that this is not a good move, considering their past actions with privacy and how they’re trying to sell themselves as freaking Robin Hood.

However, there is no official information on when the smartphones will be unveiled.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro is likely to be powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Meanwhile, the Find X3 Lite and Neo are tipped to be rebadged versions of the Reno Pro5 series. Returning to the Find X3 Pro, it is rumored to feature a 6.7-inch (1440 x 3216 pixel) OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and run Android 11 out of the box. Moreover, it could pack a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65-watt SuperVOOC 2.0 wired and 30W VOOC Air wireless charging support.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro will reportedly sport a 50-megapixel primary camera with the Sony IMX766 image sensor. It is tipped to be accompanied by a 13MP telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom output. Further, there could be a 3MP macro camera that is said to allow users to zoom in on a subject by a factor of 25x without getting too close to it.

OPPO Find X3 tipped to feature Snapdragon 870 SoC

OPPO is gearing up to launch its next flagship series, the OPPO Find X3 lineup. From certifications to leaked images, we’ve been hearing a lot about the Find X3 Pro but the Find X3 details still remain unknown. However, a new leak claims to have revealed the processor details of the upcoming vanilla version of the flagship.

The OPPO Find X3 is said to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset, which was launched one month ago. The chipset is a follow-on to the flagship Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset. It features an enhanced Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU with a prime core clock speed of up to 3.2 GHz. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC comes equipped with Adreno 650 GPU. There is Snapdragon X55 5G modem with support for 5G mmWave and sub-6 GHz.

The latest development comes from a tweet, which shared screengrabs of the AIDA64 benchmarks, AnTuTu appearance, and About Phone page of the OPPO PEDM00 phone. It shows that the phone features a Qualcomm chip with ‘sm8250’ model number, Adreno 650 GPU, and ‘kona’ codename. The About page of the OPPO Find X3 specifically mentions the Snapdragon 870 SoC.

As per the screenshots, the OPPO Find X3 will have a display with 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution. It could come equipped with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB of internal storage. Further, one of the cameras is listed to be 12.6 MP. Moreover, if you look closely, you’ll see a vacant spot at the top-left corner in all three screengrabs. This indicates the presence of a punch-hole cutout on the display.

OPPO Find X3 inches closer to launch

OPPO is prepping to launch its next flagship, the OPPO Find X3 series soon. Recently, a phone with model number CPH2173 was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking platform. It had the Snapdragon 888 listed on the site, which led to speculations of the phone being a flagship device. Hence, it was tipped to be either the Find X3 or the Find X3 Pro. Now, the same model number has appeared in the database of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). It signifies that the device is inching closer to its official announcement.

As per the FCC listing, the OPPO CPH2173 smartphone will run latest ColorOS 11.2 UI. Plus, it may ship with a charger that has a model number VCA7JAUH / VCA7DUH / VCA7HUAH. It is likely to have support for 65W fast charging. Further, the device is listed to come equipped with a battery rated capacity of 2,200mAh, which hints that the phone is backed by a dual-cell battery.

OPPO is tipped to be working with Sony to use a customized sensor on its upcoming flagship. While it is unclear which upcoming OPPO smartphone will be arriving with the new IMX789 lens, we expect it to be present on the Find X3 series. It could also launch alongside the Reno6 series that may debut by mid-2021. As per the Geekbench listing, the device is powered by the latest Qualcomm offering, the Snapdragon 888 SoC. Further, it is coupled with 12GB of RAM.

The OPPO Find X3 Pro was earlier expected to feature two 50MP IMS766 image sensors from Sony. It might have a 6.7-inch display with a 1440 x 3216 pixel resolution (525ppi). OPPO’s new flagship is also expected to include a dual cell 4500mAh battery, with support for 65-watt SuperVOOC 2.0 wired charging and 30-watt VOOC Air wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2, Apple’s 27-inch iMac and more on sale today

Let’s begin today’s official news with deals. The year is about to end, but those Samsung trade-in seem like if they’re here to stay. If you’ve been watching us you probably are familiar with them but, that Galaxy Z Fold 2 for $999 continues to be a huge steal for our phone of the year. The Galaxy Note 20 Series is still starting at $450 for the regular model and at $750 for the Ultra. The S20 Series starts at $350 for the S20+, going up to $550 for the Ultra. But again, you need an eligible device to trade-in for all of these. Moving on, the OnePlus 7T is currently $250 off its regular price, leaving it at $349. You can also get the OnePlus 8T for $749 and they’ll give you a 7T for $99 along with it which is a pretty crazy deal. Finally, if you’re in the market for an iMac, the latest 27in model is $100 off, leaving the Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage model for $1399, We have other deals on more iMacs, Beats headphones and more in the links below.

OPPO Find X3 could feature a custom-made Sony IMX789 lens

Let’s move on to OPPO as, we’re getting somewhat close to the release of the OPPO Find X3 and we know that one of the main things the company plans to focus on is the camera. According to a new leaks from Weibo, OPPO is working with Sony on a custom chip, the Sony IMX789, which we could see on the Find X3 Series. Apparently, all flagship OPPO models will come with a customized sensor, with the one we mentioned previously remaining an exclusive for them. As a reference, the previous Sony IMX766 promises top-notch photography in low light conditions with a 1/1.56in sensor offering 1.0μm, taking in 63.8% more light than the 48MP IMX586. So yeah, we should expect a custom sensor that absorbs a crazy amount of light. Some of the other leaked specs include the Snapdragon 888 5G, a 6.7in display with 525ppi, a 4500 mAh battery with 65W SuperVOOC charging. And, for the camera’s we’re expecting two 50MP sensors, probably including the one we mentioned before.

OnePlus 9 leak reveals major battery and charging technology upgrades

OnePlus is also getting ready to launch their 9 Series as, multiple reports hint that we’ll be getting it earlier in the year, some time in March. We’re expecting 3 devices so far, the OnePlus 9, 9 Pro and even a Lite variant. Well, according to a new report from 91Mobiles, the regular OnePlus 9 will finally get wireless charging support as well as reverse wireless charging. Did I already say finally? IF you remember, earlier this year, the 8 Pro brought this feature but, both the 8T and the 8 missed out but, it looks like the company wants to even things out, only leaving out the Lite variant. Older leaks hint that the OnePlus 9 will bring a flat 6.55in FHD+, OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, it’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 888 5G, 8GB of RAM and it’ll probably start at 128GB of storage. When it comes to the cameras, it’ll apparently bring 2 48MP shooters, with some rumors hinting that we may even get a 50MP sensor from Leica. Wait what, Leica? Could it be that OnePlus is finally gonna fix the one thing they still can’t get right?

12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED display might launch in Q1 2021

Let’s move on to Apple for a couple of segments, as aggressiveness seems to be part of their 2021 too. Let’s start with iPads as we’ve been covering a ton, and I mean a ton of mini-LED iPad rumors and leaks and it looks like we’re finally closing in on getting the actual products. According to a new report from DigiTimes, Apple has diversified their supply chain for displays and touch panels as, BOE has finally received approval to supply OLED for iPhones and integrated touch modules for mini-LED backlit panels for the 12.9in iPad Pro which according to them, will launch in the first quarter of 2021. So if you think about it, Ming Chi Kuo mentioned in one of his research notes that these new mini-LED iPads would begin production in Q4 of 2020 which goes along with this new report from DigiTimes. So yeah, we’re expecting these new iPads in the first half of 2021, most likely in Q1, and they are rumored to bring 5G support as well. Apple is reportedly preparing 6 devices with mini-LED displays but this iPad might be the first one.

Apple might take until 2027 to launch its ambitious car: Kuo

Let’s keep talking about Apple but this time, the Apple Car, which many could argue was anything but true until all the news that happened last week. It definitely looked like Apple was hard at work to get this car out but, this new report makes a lot more sense and it gives us a better time line. According to a new research note from Ming Chi Kuo, this car will be launched sometime between 2025 and 2027 the earliest. To quote Kuo, “we predicted that the car would launch between 2023-2025 but, their latest survey indicates that the current development schedule for the Apple Car is not clear, and if the development actually starts this year and everything goes well, 2025-2027 would be the earliest”. This is apparently due to some changes in the EV and Self-Driving market and Apple’s quality standards, with Kuo saying that he wouldn’t be surprised if it drops until 2028 or later. Last week we heard from Reuters that Apple is already contacting suppliers and that might be true but apparently they’re just beginning this process. And it’s still not clear if we’ll get a self-driving car, or a regular passenger vehicle like the report mentioned last week. We’ll see how the rumors develop over these upcoming years.

Samsung Galaxy S21 series goes up on pre-order in the US

And finally, the Galaxy S21 Series continues to be the hottest topic around as we’re getting really close to the launch. So far, most leaks have focused on the Ultra but now we get some more information on the more affordable siblings. We have a new detailed breakdown from WinFuture of the Galaxy S21 and S21+’s specs. Starting with the S21, it’ll rock a 6.2in FHD+ flat display, which will be 120Hz capable, with Gorilla Glass 7 on top, a downgrade when compared to the QHD+ panels on the S20 Series. It’ll either be powered by the Exynos 2100 or the Snapdragon 888 5G along with 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of storage and a 4000 mAh battery. When it comes to the S21+, it’ll bring a 6.7in AMOLED display, with the same specs as the S21 and actually less PPI. OPPO Find X3 could feature a custom-made Sony IMX789 lens

OPPO launched the Reno5 Pro+ recently as its first smartphone that is powered by the latest Snapdragon 888 chipset. It comes with an electrochromic rear and a 50MP Sony IMX766 lens built in partnership with Sony. Now, it seems like the Chinese company has plans to upgrade the camera features of its upcoming flagship as the latest leak states that OPPO and Sony are also working on a custom chip named Sony IMX789. We could see it on the OPPO Find X3 series.

The leak comes from Weibo via a reliable tipster who claims that Sony and OPPO are working together on a new sensor. This lens could be called Sony IMX789, and it could be seen first on the upcoming OPPO Find X3 flagship smartphone. As per the machine-translated text, all flagship models from OPPO are tipped to use a customized sensor. Moreover, the lens could remain exclusive to OPPO for certain a period. While it is unclear which upcoming OPPO smartphone will be arriving with the new IMX789 lens, we expect it to be present on the Find X3 series. It could also launch alongside the Reno6 series that may debut by mid-2021.

The Sony IMX766 is the latest camera sensor from the brand. It promises a top-notch photography experience in low-light conditions. It features a 1/1.56-inch sensor and it offers a  unit pixel area of 1.0μm. The sensor can intake 63.8 precent more light as compared to the 48MP Sony IMX586 lens.

As per earlier leaked information, the upcoming OPPO Find X3 Pro is codenamed Fussi. It is said to feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor and a new ‘full-path color management system.

We have leaked details of the upcoming OPPO Find X3 Pro

OPPO has been getting attention as the company is expected to launch its new flagship in the first quarter of 2021. Just last month, we saw the company teasing the new OPPO Find X3 Pro will feature end-to-end 10-bit color support with its new Full-path Color Management System, as well as HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) support and full DCI-P3 wide color gamut. Now, we have new information from a well-known leaker that makes the device even more compelling.

A new report from Evan Blass over at Voice, gives us details of the upcoming OPPO Find X3 Pro, codenamed Fussi. He believes that this will be the most interesting device of the upcoming Find X3 trio, as it will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor and a new ‘full-path color management system. Blass also mentions OPPO’s plans to market the Find X3 Pro, as it may deliver great color and the same adaptive dynamic frame rate as the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra.

“Oppo plans to market the FX3P with a tagline along the lines of “Awaken Color,” as a way to draw attention to its end-to-end 10-bit color support. What that means, essentially, is that its 6.7-inch, 1440 x 3216 display (525ppi) — with the same adaptive dynamic frame rate of 10Hz to 120Hz as Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra — will be able to display images captured by the quad-camera array in their maximum native 1.07-billion colors.”

The OPPO Find X3 Pro is also expected to feature two 50MP IMS766 image sensors from Sony. The first one would be the primary wide-angle module, while the second lens would be intended for ultra-wide capture. We would also see a 13MP telephoto camera with 2X optical zoom and a 3MP macro camera that’s expected to deliver 25X zoom. This last camera would have lights circling its lens, allowing it to be used as a microscope, a feature that will get significant attention in the phone’s marketing.

OPPO’s new flagship is also expected to include a dual cell 4500mAh battery, with support for 65-watt SuperVOOC 2.0 wired charging and 30-watt VOOC Air wireless charging. It’s NFC radio will also include some interesting features, as its module will possess a dual-body antenna design, which will allow tap-to-pay regardless of the phone’s orientation.

OPPO Find X3 series to come with system-wide 10-bit color support

OPPO has confirmed the launch of the Find X3 series in 2021. The new flagship smartphones will offer end-to-end 10-bit color support with its new Full-path Colour Management System. It brings support for HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) and full DCI-P3 wide color gamut. This support extends to offer more accurate colors. The Find X3 is claimed to be the ‘first Android’ smartphone to offer this functionality.

On the second day of the OPPO INNO Day 2020 conference, the company announced its new development about the Find X3 series in China. The new Full-path Color Management System will offer a native 10-bit display on the OPPO Find X3 series. While OPPO has previously advertised phones to offer a 10-bit display, they actually featured 8-bit displays. They actually mimic a 10-bit performance. For reference, the OPPO Find X2 series has embedded 8-bit panels.

OPPO says its R&D team also prepared algorithms in areas such as distortion correction, multi-frame noise reduction, and perceptual extreme super-resolution. It will support image sensors featuring Digital Overlap (DOL) HDR mode. It is likely to image results even when captured against bright light since it synthesizes different exposure conditions into an image.

As per the company, the Full-path Color Management System will deliver an “outstanding viewing experience” and bring “authentic and accurate color reproduction.” It will also support HEIF (High-Efficiency Image Format) to save storage space. The new system is said to have designed to cover all steps including image acquisition to computation, encoding, storage, and decoding.
