Samsung scored a winner last year with the Galaxy S20 FE, thanks to a great mix of flagship-grade hardware and attractive pricing. It now looks like Samsung is planning to milk its success by giving it another lease of life. As per a report from WinFuture, Samsung might equip the Galaxy S20 FE with the 4G version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, swapping out the in-house Exynos 990 that originally powered it.
The report mentions the impending arrival of a new Galaxy S20 FE variant carrying the model number SM-G780G and packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. This particular version of Snapdragon 865 that will be fitted inside the device will reportedly lack the Snapdragon X55 5G modem. Samsung has already updated some of its websites in Europe with mention of the aforementioned model number, which suggests that an official launch is not too far away.
The rest of the specifications of this revived 4G-only Galaxy S20 FE will be identical to its 5G-compatible sibling. However, the memory configuration might be updated. Aside from the 6GB RAM+128GB storage option, Samsung might also offer it in an 8GB RAM+ 256GB storage model. As for the pricing, some retailers have reportedly whispered an asking price of EUR 600, at least for the German market, but the actual prices might vary based on the country you live in.
As for the rest of the package, the Galaxy S20 FE offers a 6.5-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. You get three cameras at the back, which include a 12MP main snapper, another 12MP sensor for wide-angle photography, and an 8MP telephoto camera. Selfie and video calling duties are shouldered by a 32MP front camera. The lights are kept on by a 4,500mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging, and is capable of going up from 0 to 50% in just 30 minutes.

It seems that the OnePlus Buds may arrive alongside the OnePlus Nord
OnePlus just released their latest episode of their New Beginnings documentary where they talk about the first time they opened a Concept Store in India and their strong relationship with the Indian market as, we know that the Nord will be an exclusive phone to them and some countries in Europe. However, on other news, we’re also waiting for the OnePlus Buds which should be announced along with the Nord. These just went through a new certification in Finland, kinda confirming that we will be getting this soon as we’ve been seeing more and more certifications.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus 5G Mobile Platform with up to 3.1GHz core clock speed goes official
Qualcomm just announced their new Snapdragon 865+ SoC platform. It is still built on a 7nm process and it includes the Adreno 650 GPU and according to Qualcomm, it offers 10% faster graphics rendering than the previous version. It includes the Snapdragon X55 modem for 5G capabilities on both mm-wave and sub-6GHz bands. It brings support for LPDDR5 RAM and up to 16GB of LPDDR4X and a bunch of more upgrades. We have a full list of specs in the links in the description because it gets too technical and according to the announcement, the ROG Phone 3 and the new Lenovo Legion gaming phone. We’re also expecting it to come to at least one of the Note 20 variants and the Z Flip 5G.

So yeah, think about it.. First we get the event confirmation for the Galaxy Note 20, and then we get the 865+ announced. I hope Samsung finally differentiates the Note, but wait, there’s more. Remember those pictures of the Note we got yesterday? Now we have a full hands on video. On the video we can see the phone fully working and running Android 10. We’re also able to see it side to side when compared to the Note 10+ and pretty much like the leaks, the S Pen Slot and the speaker was moved to the left side. However, the S Pen will be the same but it’s getting a new pointer feature. We got to see some more close ups of the camera hump but sadly we didn’t get any more details on the specs. This phone has been tipped to come with the Snapdragon 865+ but this video didn’t shed light on that.
Samsung may not include an in-box charger with its future Galaxy phones
But alright enough with all the good news. Let’s discuss the negative portion. According to a new report from South Korea, Samsung might start shipping their future phones without a charger in the box. Quoting a SamMobile report, Sammy ships millions of phones a year and taking the charger from even the half of these phones would reduce a lot of costs for the company and would allow the company to price their smartphones more aggressively. Now, the original report mentions “some smartphones” without giving out any names, so these could be flagships or mid-rangers. We saw another report that this might happen with the Galaxy S21 or S30 but, it’s way too early to know that for sure. There’s no doubt that Samsung will be selling their chargers but, it raises the same concerns we have with Apple making this move like consumers buying cheap third party chargers.

And finally the hottest news today have to do with Apple, but you’re gonna have to bare with me as these are two separate reports. On the first one, according to a Taiwanese report, Apple will be releasing the new 14in MacBook Pro with that miniLED display in Q1 of 2021, along with the refreshed 16in variant. We’re expecting 6 new products with miniLED displays next year and there’s a possibility that these new MacBook Pros will be powered by Apple Silicon. Now let’s just wonder what the price will be. Oh and speaking of the price, as for the second segment, according to a new research note provided to MacRumors, an analyst claims that even with the changes to the iPhone 12’s box, pricing for the 5.4in iPhone 12 will increase to $749 instead of the $699 we saw with the iPhone 11. According to him, this is because of the addition of 5G and the OLED display instead of the LCD we saw on the 11. He also says that because of 5G, consumers will accept it and it won’t affect the demand. Later on he also mentions that the 6.1in iPhone 12 will start at either $799 or $849, while the Pros will still start at $999 and $1099. This information contradicts the previous leaks we got from multiple trusted sources but, we’ll still take it into account.
