Samsung Galaxy A52 5G offers the luxury of a 120Hz screen on tight budget

Samsung’s new Galaxy A72 borrows flagship tricks for mid-range glory

Let’s move on to Samsung for the first time today as, the company just had their “Awesome Unpacked Event” earlier today where we got 2 new devices. Let’s start with the Galaxy A72 which brings a 6.7-inch FHD+ display running at 90Hz, it is powered by the Snapdragon 720G along with 6 or 8 gigs of RAM and up to 256 gigs of expandable storage. It also brings a 5,000 mAh battery, along with a quad camera system at the back which includes a 64MP primary shooter. Moving on to the Galaxy A52, aka the second highest selling phone of last year, this one brings a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED Display at FHD+ and running at 120Hz. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G, along with up to 8 gigs of RAM and up to 256 gigs of storage. It comes in an LTE variant and a 5G variant which vary in specs of course. It also brings 4 cameras at the back with that same 64MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, a 5MP depth sensor and a macro. The Galaxy A72 will cost you 449 Euros for the entry level variant and the A52 will set you back at 349 Euros for the 4G model or 429 Euros for the 5G variant.

OnePlus smartwatch won’t run Wear OS, and I’m excited about it!

OnePlus Watch leak tips a week’s battery in 20 minutes charge, 4GB storage and more

Moving on to OnePlus, the company already confirmed that we will be getting their first smartwatch with the OnePlus 9 Series on March 23rd but, we don’t have much information on the Watch just yet. Now, we have a new report from Pricebaba that claims that the Watch will bring a circular dial that could measure 46mm, it’ll come in 2 color variants being Black and Silver. It’ll also bring an IP68 rating, as well as 4GB of onboard storage. The leak also mentions that it’ll offer automatic workout detection, a swimming mode, sleep tracking, heart rate monitoring, stress tracking and more. You can also expect a week of battery life with just 20 minutes of a charge thanks to Warp Charging. And this sounds to good to be true, but according to Pete Lau, it’s because they’re doing this. He wrote in a forum post that they developed the OS based on an RTOS and not WearOS, because they believe it provides a smooth and reliable experience while delivering great battery life, covering some of the biggest concerns people have when buying a smart watch. So yeah, this watch is actually sounding pretty good and we’re very close to this event so stay tuned.

iPad Pro refresh with a Mini-LED display slated to arrive in April: Report

Now, here’s a good twist, it looks like OnePlus is getting the 23rd all to themselves because, the Apple leaks we’re all wrong. See, we were expecting invites yesterday but, that didn’t happen. Well, now we have a new report from DigiTimes that claims that Apple won’t launch their new mini-LED 12.9-inch iPad Pro until at least the second quarter of the year.. Which begins on April 1st. Apparently this is because the supplier of mini-LED backlit panels has 50% of their production capacity for this tablet booked to begin in the second quarter of 2021. Early this morning we also got a new tweet from Jon Prosser where he claims that the event will now happen on April and that he will explain details on his show later.. But he will still be shaving his eyebrows. So yeah, this is the first time Apple will be hosting an event in April since their special event back in 2010 where they revealed iOS 4. Finally, just to jog your memory we are expecting these iPad Pros, AirTags, hopefully some AirPods and maybe even an Apple TV, let’s wait and see when it will actually happen.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Galaxy Z Flip successors will debut in Q3 2021: Report

Galaxy Note series isn’t dead, but don’t expect a new one this year

Finally, let’s move the spotlight on to Samsung and the mystery of the missing Galaxy Note. It’s already March and we have no codenames or any information on the 2021 Galaxy Note Series and I mean it makes some sense as Samsung just brought the S Pen to the Galaxy S and they’re reportedly working hard on their foldables. However, the company did say that we will still be getting a Galaxy Note but, not on the typical schedule. Well, at the latest Samsung shareholders meeting in Korea, Samsung’s CEO said “There is no new Galaxy Note this year” as translated by the machine. He continued on to say that “it is not that we will not release new products. The timing may vary, but next year we are preparing to continue to do so”. So, I guess this serves as some actual confirmation that Samsung will be taking a break from the Note this year, as leaks claim that they are working on bringing stylus support to the Galaxy Z Fold line, which I believe should turn into the Galaxy Note eventually. And if you’re wondering how Samsung’s launch schedule is looking like, a new report from Reuters claims that Sammy will be launching the Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 2 in Q3 along with some Wear OS watches, and the Galaxy S21 FE in Q4.

Samsung’s new Galaxy A72 borrows flagship tricks for mid-range glory

Samsung has just lifted the covers from its latest premium mid-ranger – the Galaxy A72. And I’ll put it straight away – it is a major upgrade over its predecessor and brings some features that have been previously reserved for Samsung flagships. Starting with the design, Samsung has created this merged sort of effect for the camera housing at the back that looks quite clean.

A 90Hz AMOLED display, 5,000mAh battery, and cool IP67-rated profile

The rear panel has a matte haze finish and comes in four color options – Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, Awesome Purple, and Awesome Violet. I quite like the new design language Samsung is going for with its mid-rangers, and it is definitely assuring to see that the build is IP67-certified, which means a few accidental splashes won’t do it any harm.

You get a 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080) pixels display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate and rocks a centered hole-punch. Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G (rumored) takes care of things inside, ticking alongside 6GB / 8GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB of onboard storage. Thankfully, there is scope for storage expansion via a microSD card of up to 1TB capacity. And to keep the lights on, there is a sufficiently large 5,000mAh battery fitted inside the Galaxy A72.

Four rear cameras, highlighted by a 64MP main and a 3x zoom camera

The latest Samsung offering has a quad rear camera setup that is highlighted by an optically stabilized 64MP primary camera. It sits alongside a12MP ultrawide-angle snapper, a 5MP macro shooter, and an 8MP telephoto camera with OIS that delivers up to 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the Galaxy A72 offers a 32MP fixed focus front camera.

Samsung has equipped the Galaxy A72 with an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication, while Android 11 handles things on the software side. The company has assured that the Galaxy A72 will get software updates for a span of four years. There are Dolby Atmos-ready stereo speakers on the device, and support for a music share feature that allows playback on two sets of Bluetooth earbuds for listening with a friend.

Coming to the pricing part, the Galaxy A72 will set you back by €449 in Europe and £419 in the UK (approx. USD 550) for the base 6GB+128GB variant. The phone is coming to the UK and Europe but we don’t know about US availability yet.

How to watch the Samsung Galaxy Awesome UnPacked event today

Samsung is hosting an Unpacked event today, March 17. This is a bit unusual since the company only hosts two Unpacked events per year – one for the Galaxy S series in the first half of the year and the other for the Galaxy Note series in the second half of the year. This time around, we are just three months into the year, and Samsung is already hosting its second Unpacked event.

The Samsung Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event will commence at 10 AM ET today, March 11. It will be livestreamed through the Samsung Newsroom site and Samsung’s official YouTube channel. You can also watch the Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event below –

Samsung is tipped to launch the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 at its Galaxy Awesome Unpacked event. The Galaxy A52 is rumored to feature a Super AMOLED display with support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It could be powered by the Snapdragon 750G SoC. The smartphone is said to sport a quad rear camera setup that could be led by a 64MP primary camera. It is rumored to be accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide-angle snapper, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front might lie a 32MP selfie shooter.

Further, it could pack a 4,500mah battery. The smartphone is tipped to be made out of plastic. However, it could be IP67 certified for dust and water resistance. It is likely to run Android 11 with One UI 3.1 out of the box. As per the rumors, the Galaxy A52 5G will be priced at $499 in the US, while the 4G version of the device will be a good $100 cheaper. It could be made available in Awesome Black, Awesome White, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Blue color options.

The Galaxy A72 is likely to share the design language with elements such as an Infinity-O display with a centered hole-punch and similar camera module aesthetics at the back.

Samsung’s next Unpacked event is on March 17. Brace for Galaxy-A mid-rangers!

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Samsung has just announced that its next Unpacked event is happening on March 17. If the history of ‘AWESOME’ keyphrase in the context of Samsung ad campaigns is anything to go by, we are expecting the launch of new Galaxy A-series mid-rangers. And if you’ve been following Samsung news lately, you might already know the two devices that are about to make their debut at the next Unpacked event – the Galaxy A52 5G and the Galaxy A72.

As per a leakster with a fairly solid track record, the Galaxy A52 and A72 will indeed make an appearance at the upcoming Unpacked event. Over the past few weeks, the two phones have been leaked extensively – especially the Galaxy A52 5G – and have appeared on Samsung’s support pages as well, complete with official renders in tow. Both the phones share a lot of their design elements such as an Infinity-O display with a centered hole-punch and similar camera module aesthetics at the back.

Talking about specifications, the Galaxy A52 will reportedly come equipped with a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. If the leaks are true, it will be the first non-flagship Samsung phone to rock a 120Hz AMOLED display. Under the hood, you’ll find Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 750G paired with up to 8 gigs of RAM and 256GB of on-device storage.

The quad rear camera set-up of Galaxy A52 5G will reportedly include a 64MP main snapper, assisted in its imaging duties by an 8MP wide-angle shooter, a 5MP sensor for macro photography, and a 2MP sensor for calculating depth information. There is a 32MP selfie camera on the front, while the 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging support will keep the IP67-certified phone running.

Coming to the Galaxy A72, leaks suggest that it will offer a 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display that refreshes at 90Hz. Samsung has reportedly armed this 4G-only phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip that runs things in tandem with 6 gigs of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. There are four cameras at the back – a 64MP primary snapper, a 12MP sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a 5MP camera for macro photography, and a 5MP depth sensor.

Samsung leak tips S Pen support for mid-range Galaxy A-series, but we’re skeptical

Back in December last year, TM Roh – Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business – wrote in a blog post that the company will bring some of the most well-loved features of the Galaxy Note series to more devices in its lineup. That promise came to fruition with the addition of S Pen support to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, it appears that stylus support won’t just be limited to Samsung’s flagships. In fact, it might even make its way to the upcoming Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 mid-rangers as well.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and/or Galaxy A72 might get stylus support

As per an alleged official render of the Galaxy A52 and its larger A72 sibling (via leakster @TheGalox_), the two phones are shown alongside an S Pen similar to the one Samsung offers for the Galaxy S21 Ultra. It is unclear if both the phones will be compatible with a stylus, or just the Galaxy A72 which has a bigger 6.7-inch display.

Wait, they might get more flagship tricks than just S Pen?

The tipster even mentions that two phones might get even more flagship treatment by adding features such as Google Discover Feed, Google Messages app support, 3-years of quarterly updates, and quarterly updates for another year. And these new features will reportedly be marketed heavily. It is worth noting here that the Galaxy A52 5G was briefly listed on Samsung’s official monthly update database as well.

Is the Galaxy Note series losing its exclusive stylus charm to mid-ranger now?

If the leak indeed turns out to be true, this would be a major shift for Samsung. The S Pen and its associated productivity-centric tricks have been the defining traits of the Galaxy Note series, and it is what separated it from the Galaxy S family. With Galaxy S21 Ultra getting stylus support, the lines between the two flagship phones have blurred. And if the Galaxy A-series gets stylus compatibility too, the Galaxy Note might further lose its special charm.

And to make things even more confusing, Samsung might even offer stylus support on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold3 foldable phone. On the bright side, a stylus will allow Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 users to make the most of their 6.5-inch or larger AMOLED screens for tasks such as note-taking or doodling.

It all sounds too good to be true

Samsung Galaxy A52

But all of it sounds a bit too good to be true. Samsung Galaxy A51 was a hit for Samsung, and from what we’ve come across leaks regarding its successor – the Galaxy A52 5G might offer upgrades such as a 120Hz AMOLED display, better cameras, and 25W fast charging. And all this leaves the question – if the Galaxy A52 5G (and the Galaxy A72 too) is a worthy upgrade on its own, why add stylus support and increase the price, and that too at the cost of diminishing the Galaxy Note series’ special talent?

The leaksters are divided on this one

Needless to say, all of its sounds too good to be true at the moment. I talked with a few leaksters with a fairly reliable track record, and they can’t arrive at a consensus regarding S Pen support for the Galaxy A-series. However, the majority is inclined to believe that stylus support is not happening for Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72, at least not this year. Needless to say, all of this is a tad confusing, so do process the latest leaks with the proverbial pinch of salt.

Samsung Galaxy A52 5G and A72 listed on official support pages ahead of launch

At this point, it is no secret that Samsung is planning to launch two new mid-range smartphones called Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72. We’ve seen everything from renders and specifications to their mention on certification and official update logs. In fact, an online retailer even listed one of them for sale earlier this week ahead of the official launch. If there was still something left, the official Samsung support page for the two phones has now gone live.

The support page for Galaxy A52 5G and Galaxy A72 has appeared on the Samsung UAE website, complete with pictures of the two phones. We get a glimpse at a familiar design with a hole-punch at the top, in line with Samsung’s Infinity-O design language. Actually, the two upcoming phones look identical from the front.

As per previous leaks, the Galaxy A52 will offer a 6.5-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, similar to the flagship Galaxy S21 range. Notably, the Galaxy A52 5G will be the first non-flagship Samsung phone to come equipped with a 120Hz display.

Inside, you’ll find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G tickling alongside up to 8 gigs of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. The quad-camera setup at the back will be headlined by a 64MP primary camera, flanked by an 8MP wide-angle snapper, a 5MP sensor for macro photography, and a 2MP depth camera. There is a 32MP selfie shooter on the IP67-certified device, while a 4,500mAh battery will keep the lights on, complete with support for 25W fast charging.

Coming to the Galaxy A72, it will reportedly pack a 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) display with a 90Hz refresh rate. Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G will run things under the hood, paired with 6 gigs of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. The imaging hardware is said to include a 64MP primary camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, a 5MP macro shooter, and a 5MP depth sensor as well.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A72 4G could’ve been leaked

We have been getting rumors concerning a new Samsung Galaxy A72. This new device is expected to have 4G and 5G variants, and we have already seen what the latter will look like, as it appeared in a couple of renders that leaked back in December. However, there was no further information about the LTE-only counterpart until now.

The guys over at German Blog WinFuture recently leaked what could be the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A72 4G. The leaked renders show us a device that looks like its 5G variant, which means that it also features a 6.7-inch FullHD+ Super AMOLED display with 90Hz refresh rates on the front. Now, when we focus on the back panel, we find a quad-camera setup placed on the upper-left corner.

This camera module is rumored to feature a 64MP primary shooter, a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP depth, and 5MP macro sensors. However, this doesn’t match previous reports. We saw that the 64MP primary sensor and the 12MPP ultrawide cameras would share the spotlight with an 8MP telephoto lens with 2x zoom, a 2MP macro camera. Still, the rumors seem to agree in the 32MP selfie shooter and the in-display fingerprint reader that may arrive for biometric authentication.

Further, the new Samsung Galaxy A72 4G is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720 processor and 8GB RAM, even though it is also said that we will also get a device with 6GB RAM under the hood. We would also get to choose between 128GB and 256GB storage, and the best part is that this device is also expected to feature a microSD card slot to give users more storage if desired.

Rumors also suggest that the Samsung Galaxy A72 will arrive with a massive 5,000mAh battery, IP67 water and dust resistance, and fast charge support, as it would come with a 25W power adapter in the box. The leaks also make us believe that users will also get at least four color options to choose from. And depending on the storage space you want, you could get yours for €449 for the 128GB variant or €509 for the 256GB option.
