Samsung’s bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live get some neat tricks with latest update

Samsung made a splash last year when it launched the bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live earbuds. Focused more on the comfort aspect, they came with an impressive tool up their sleeve – active noise cancellation – at a rather modest asking price of $169. Now, the company is adding some useful tricks to their arsenal with a new software update.

Galaxy Buds Live now let you make left and right earbud sound adjustment

Spotted by a Reddit user (u/apopheniac01), the Galaxy Buds Live update carries the build number R180XXU0AUB5. And as per Samsung’s official update log, it started rolling out on February 23. Another report by SamMobile mentions that the rollout is currently limited to the US market, but users in other regions will get it in the coming days as well.

Coming to the changelog, the update brings some features from the new Galaxy Buds Pro to the bean-shaped earbuds. The first one is hearing aid, which allows users to adjust the sound balance for each earbud based on their preference. This will come in handy for users who have some hearing impairment in either ear.

Auto-switching audio stream between two devices is finally here

The second new feature making its way to the Galaxy Buds Live is Auto Switching. As the name suggests, it allows them to switch the audio stream between two paired devices. For example, if you’re watching a movie while connected to a tablet and get a call on your phone, the audio output will automatically switch to your phone to let you attend it. And once the call is over, media playback via the tablet will resume.

Additionally, the update adds the ability to adjust some of the connectivity settings from the Bluetooth settings section on the phone, instead of opening the companion app and digging deeper inside. Some system stability and reliability improvements are here as well.

The wait is almost over. The next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will take place tomorrow, and even though we may have seen almost everything that’s coming, Samsung is still giving us one last teased before we see its new devices.

Samsung has once again teased its upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. This time we get a new trailer showing what seems to be the tip of the new S-Pen, the new camera module of the Galaxy Note 20 series, an outline of the Galaxy Z Fold 2, the case of the Galaxy Buds Live and just a glimpse of the Galaxy Watch 3. We also see BTS, Myth, Khalid, and Samsung’s TM Roh telling us to stay tuned, as we are “Welcome to the new normal.”

You may get a free pair of Galaxy Buds Live with Galaxy Note 20 Ultra pre-orders

It seems that Samsung is trying or will try to boost Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra sales. According to a new leaked image, the device will include some freebies when purchased during its pre-order period, well, in some countries, at least.

According to a leaked image of a flier, Samsung Indonesia may be planning on giving out free Samsung Galaxy Buds Live or Galaxy Buds+ for pre-orders of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The company would give e-vouchers with pre-order confirmations, and these would cover the full price of any of the earphones mentioned above. Now, we can’t confirm if this offer may apply to other markets, since they may get different freebies or none at all.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live flaunt their wingtips for the first time in leaked renders

Samsung’s upcoming true wireless earbuds – the Galaxy Buds Live – have kept netizens guessing about their in-ear fit ever since they first leaked due to the bean-shaped design. Now, fresh renders of the earbuds (courtesy of tipster Ishan Agarwal) show the Galaxy Buds Live rocking wingtips for the first time, giving us an idea of how they will fit inside the ears.

Talking about the wingtips, they’ll color match (or at least try to) the main body for all three shades. Notably, the wingtips cover the entire inner surface of the Galaxy Buds Live and have a pill-shaped protrusion lining the charging area of each earbud. However, we are still skeptical about the grip and if the earbuds will stay put during intense physical activities like running.

As per a previous leak, the Galaxy Buds Live will come equipped with 12mm drivers and are claimed to last 7.5 hours on a single charge. In case you’re wondering, Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is part of the package as well. If the leaks are to be believed, Samsung’s bean-shaped earbuds will set buyers back by $169 in the US and €190 in the European market.

Samsung’s Unpacked trailer gives us the first real glimpse of five upcoming devices

Samsung has scheduled an event on August 5 where the company will unveil five new products, some of which have already appeared in extensive leaks. The South Korean electronics giant has now released the first trailer for its highly anticipated event that shows us a glimpse of all the devices that are set to debut early next month.

Towards the end of the video, we see a silhouette of five devices that will break cover at the next Unpacked event, and it is pretty clear what they are. At the extreme right is the Galaxy Note 20 with the S Pen, sitting alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy Watch 3 smartwatch, the Galaxy Buds Live true wireless earbuds, and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 behind it.

The Galaxy Note 20 and its Ultra sibling have also appeared in some hi-res renders and we also have come across their camera specifications in detail. Similar is the case with the Galaxy Tab S7 and Galaxy Tab S7+, both of which will bring an upgraded dual rear camera setup and the S Pen magnetically attached to the device. Additionally, live images of the Galaxy Buds Live as well as the Galaxy Watch 3 have also made their way online.

[UPDATE]: Fresh Samsung Galaxy Buds Live leak reveals $169 price tag and more product details

Samsung seemingly can’t keep its upcoming devices under wraps. After almost everything got leaked regarding the Galaxy Note 20, the Galaxy Buds Live earbuds are now getting leaked left, right and center. The latest leak, which comes courtesy of WinFuture, claims the Galaxy Buds Live will set buyers back by €190 in Europe and $169 in the US, which sounds quite reasonable given the overall package you get.

The Galaxy Buds Live pack 12mm drivers, the sound profile has been optimized by AKG, and each earbud weighs only 5 grams. The upcoming Samsung TWS earbuds are claimed to last 7.5 hours on a single charge. However, to get that battery life, users will have to disable Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) as well as the always-on mic for summoning the voice assistant.

With ANC enabled, the earbuds are claimed to last 4.5 hours, while the charging case is claimed to provide enough juice for 28 hours (20 hours with ANC enabled). As for charging speed, three minutes of charging will reportedly be good enough for 35 minutes of music playback. Also, the supplied charging case supports Qi wireless charging. Notably, the Galaxy Buds Live can also be worn without plugs, but that would likely reduce the effectiveness of noise cancellation.

UPDATE: This article has been updated with the US price of $169 as per a new tweet by leakster Roland Quandt on Twitter. Earlier, the US price (in USD) of Galaxy Buds Live was mentioned after converting the leaked €190 price for the European market.

Samsung’s own app spills the beans on Galaxy Buds Live, confirms noise cancellation

Samsung’s upcoming bean-shaped true wireless earbuds – the Galaxy Buds Live – have already leaked multiple times in the past, giving us a detailed look at their design. Now, the official Samsung Galaxy Buds companion app has confirmed the Galaxy Buds Live name alongside renders of the wearable device and a major rumored feature.

New screenshots added to the App Store listing of the app reveal the Galaxy Buds Live name and also detail the process on how to pair them. We also get to see schematics of the Galaxy Buds from both sides alongside a few instructions, but what caught our attention was the mention of Active Noise Cancellation.

We also see the mention of gesture support, which is not surprising for TWS earbuds. The Galaxy Buds Live app has a dedicated option called Active noise cancelling that can be enabled or disabled via a toggle. Below it sits the equalizer wheel that allows users to switch between a total of six profiles that include Bass Boost, Treble Boost, and Clear among others.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live support pages are now live

We are waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live to launch on the next Galaxy Unpacked event that’s going to take place on August 5. However, we may also see these new wireless earbuds before the event, just like the Galaxy Z Flip 5 G that got recently announced. Whatever the case, Samsung is getting ready to launch these earbuds, and it already has a live support page available for them.

Support pages for the new Samsung Galaxy Buds Live are up in several Samsung websites. We see these support pages available in India, Russia, Germany, and the United Kingdom, meaning that they may soon be announced. These new Galaxy Buds Live are supposed to arrive with at least three different color options and a new bean-like design. Now, we only have to wait and see if they share the spotlight with the Galaxy Note 20 series or if they launch on their own.

Samsung’s bean-shaped earbuds appear in a short video and official renders

Samsung’s upcoming bean-shaped earbuds – rumored to debut as Galaxy Buds Live – recently appeared in leaked renders clad in black, white, and bronze colors. Now, the earbuds have appeared in a short video and a couple of official renders, giving us a closer look at their design and in-ear fit.

The video shows the Galaxy Buds Live in the aforementioned colors alongside the charging case with a matching color scheme. The tagline “Keep the noise out. Let the sound in” suggests that Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) might be part of the package, something a previous leak also mentioned alongside a rather competitive price tag of $150.

As for the leaked render, it gives us a detailed view of the earbuds from both sides. One can see a pair of external mics, two internal and an external sound vent that will likely be used for canceling noise. The other image gives us a better idea of the in-ear fit and how the Galaxy Buds Live are supposed to be positioned in the ear.

Bean-shaped Samsung Galaxy Buds Live leak in three color options

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 is all set to go official on August 5. Samsung is also expected to release a new watch, a tablet, and a pair of wireless earbuds at the event. The Galaxy Buds Live have appeared online ahead of launch. The latest development comes from Evan Blass’s Patreon account where he posted a set of two images giving us our best look at the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live.

The upcoming earbuds are designed like a kidney bean, with a vent-like speaker on the middle of the bud. Further, there appear to be two different microphone holes on the one side, which could work for both voice commands/calls and also for noise cancellation. These earbuds lack silicone tips. Hence, they are expected to sit in your ear differently.

Coming to the charging case, it is shaped like a rounded-off square with charging pins in the center to charge up each earbud. It is likely to have magnets to keep the buds in place while charging and help with alignment. The Samsung Galaxy Buds Live have been leaked in three color options including Black, White and Mystic Bronze.
