We could soon get a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE, possible Galaxy S21 availability leaked

It seems that Samsung will start giving us more Fan Edition devices of its flagships. The latest leak comes directly from Samsung, as the company may have accidentally mentioned a new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE on one of its official sites.

Samsung could be trying to make its Fan Edition devices more common. The company already launched a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE not so long ago, and it also confirmed that it plans to launch new Galaxy FE devices every year. However, we understood that Samsung was going to focus on its Galaxy S line. So, you can understand our surprise when we saw Samsung’s Brazilian portal publishing mentions of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE on its Galaxy S20 FE landing page.

Right now, we may take the existence of the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 FE with some salt, even though the site provides some more interesting details. First, we can see the size of the device’s screen, which would consist of 6.5-inch or 6.3-inch if you include the screens rounded corners.

This information may just be talking about the Galaxy S20 FE, and this could just be a typo, but the issue is that it’s not the only one. The Galaxy Note 20 FE is mentioned once again when talking about the benefits of Night Mode.

Other rumors have started claiming that the Samsung Galaxy S21 has already entered production. A report from South Korea suggests that Samsung wishes to unveil the Galaxy S21 series in the first weeks of January, with plans to release it to the market in the same month. However, the report also says that Samsung would also consider announcing the Galaxy S21 late in January to make it available in early February, aiming to shorten the time Apple’s new iPhone 12 lineup safe period after it’s become available.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Fans deserve more

When Samsung first unveiled the Galaxy S20 FE, my initial reaction was “this could be the Galaxy S20 for the average Joe.” After all, it ticks the basics – at least on paper – a 120Hz refresh rate, decent battery, good set of cameras, and flagship processor. But I forgot that high expectations could lead to big disappointments. While the Galaxy S20 FE seems like the perfect S20 on paper, the real-world performance is quite different. Despite the presence of flagship-grade features, it doesn’t stand out from the crowd, and gets somewhat in a sea of very capable rivals. Samsung has “pulled off a Samsung” with the 4G variant of the phone. But what exactly “pulling off a Samsung” imply? Well, read our Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, and you’ll know exactly what I mean by that phrase.

Note: This is the Exynos 990 variant of the Galaxy S20 FE. It is not the 5G model.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Design

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

The Galaxy S20 FE is built on the blueprint of the Galaxy S20 series. Of course, it is less premium than the pricier offerings launched earlier this year, thanks to the usage of ‘glastic’ back instead of glass. Now, plastic doesn’t always have to be inferior to glass, and this one isn’t. It has a frosted finish that gives the smartphone a premium look. You might not know it is plastic if you look at it from a distance. Further, it allows the device to weigh less and the size fits well in the palm.

However, the finish is not that of a flagship

However, the finish is not that of a flagship. On the Galaxy S20 series, the glass is flush joint with the aluminum frame but on the Galaxy S20 FE, there is a minute gap between the rear panel and the frame on the sides. It is only noticeable if you look at it closely, but it’s there. I happened to drop it from a table, and thankfully, it came out unscratched from the fall. The plastic could actually turn out to be more durable than glass.

It comes with a similar design as that of the Galaxy S20 series including the camera module, button placements, and the port arrangement. The left edge is clean with no functional elements, as the power button and volume rockers all positioned on the right edge. The former is placed exactly where my thumb rests, and I love the reachability on offer here. The buttons are a bit thin for my taste but that’s just a pet peeve of mine! On the top lies the SIM/memory card tray whereas the USB-C port and speaker are located on the bottom.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

We received the Cloud Mint variant for the review. It doesn’t attract fingerprints and is easy to clean. I haven’t noticed any major scratches on the back in my two weeks of usage. However, I can notice small scuffs at the corners of the rear panel, which have appeared by simply placing the device on a table or hard surface. This is something that my colleague Nadeem also mentioned in his Galaxy M51 review, but that device costs almost half as much. Samsung doesn’t provide a case in the box. I recommend you to hide this beautiful device in a case to avoid scuffs and scratches from daily usage.

Display

The Galaxy S20 FE features a 6.5-inch flat Infinity-O display that offers FHD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution and a 407 PPI pixel density. The curves are gone, and I’d say it’s for the good. If you’ve been following my takes, you’d know by now that in my opinion, curved displays make your phones look good but they lose out on practicality. I prefer the flat panel.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

There is a centered punch-hole following Samsung’s Infinity-O design language. As I mentioned in my Galaxy M31s review, the software forms a black ring around it when the camera is active, like in video calls. It translates to an ugly round dot. Moreover, it blinks at times when I’m looking at the screen or browsing the web. However, it doesn’t cause any hindrance while consuming media.I watched an entire season of The Office and came out impressed with the visual experience, thanks to the AMOLED panel’s quality.

The 6.5-inch display is clear, the colors are vibrant, and it is bright with good legibility under sunlight. I had no problem booking cabs or paying for my favorite coffee outdoors. Moreover, the 120Hz refresh rate is variable, meaning that it changes depending on the task you perform. Overall, it’s smooth and gets the job done. Even in low light scenarios, I have no complaint with this display.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Performance

I’ve been using the Indian variant of the Galaxy S20 FE. It is powered by the Exynos 990 SoC, paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage with up to 1TB microSD card support. Here’s where the company has pulled off a Samsung.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

You see, the South Korean giant has had a history of launching Exynos variants of its flagships in India, while the US market gets the units powered by the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. I’ve talked to a few of my peers who are testing the Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy S20 FE, and they’ve had absolutely no problem with their units. Meanwhile, for me, my Exynos-powered review unit was heating with normal usage itself. The upper half of the device started heating up while browsing the web or switching between social media apps. If it had been heating due to excessive gaming, it’d be understandable but heating with normal usage itself is something that shouldn’t happen, especially with a device priced at INR 49,999.

That said, the performance was snappy. I didn’t face any lags or stutters in the UI. I played Asphalt 9, and it took a while to load but the gameplay was smooth. The audio performance is handled by a single bottom-firing speaker. It is not the best out there but gets the job done. For comparison, my OnePlus 7T gets louder than the Galaxy S20 FE. However, the audio doesn’t break at high volumes and it is good enough to be heard while consuming media. As for call quality, it was clear for me, and the person on the other side was able to hear me clearly as well.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

I had some issues with WiFi connectivity. When I toggled on the WiFi, it wouldn’t connect 7 out of 10 times. I had to go to WiFi Settings and tap on my network, it showed ‘Incorrect Password’ but tapping on it again connected me to the network. Further, the fingerprint sensor is unreliable at times. It reads my thumb 3 out of 5 times.

Battery

Another department where the Galaxy S20 FE takes a hit, thanks in no part to the Exynos 990 chip is battery life. This has been a disappointing experience. I expected the 4,500mAh battery to last me an entire day but it didn’t.

I expected the 4,500mAh battery to last me an entire day but it didn’t.

What’s worse is that it takes forever to charge! Samsung bundles a 15W fast charger with the device but it can be charged at 25W. I used a 25W fast charger and it took the device over two hours to go from 10% to 100%. Other devices in this range offer better fast charging solutions.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

The Galaxy S20 FE gave me a Screen-on-Time (SOT) of 4 hours and 20 minutes on an average. My usage includes browsing and jumping between social media apps with a lot of Twitter. Moreover, the idle battery drain is super bad. It depletes about 15%-20% of battery while I sleep. It isn’t acceptable and this is the worst I have faced in 2020. For instance, I left my phone at 20% before going to bed, and woke up with just 4% juice left in the tank. And, it switched off while I looked for my charger to plug it in. Notably, no application was running in the background, and this idle battery drain was consistent in my 2-week usage.

The device also supports 15W fast wireless charging, but I wouldn’t rely on it to charge fully. Again, it takes a lot of time to charge. The Galaxy S20 FE also supports Wireless PowerShare to charge other devices like a pair of earbuds or a smartwatch. If you use this feature, I doubt your phone will last you an entire day. Overall, the battery life of Galaxy S20 FE is below average at best.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Software

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

The Galaxy S20 FE runs One UI 2.5 based on Android 10 out of the box. It is the same as Samsung’s flagship devices including the Galaxy Note 10, Note 10 and Galaxy S20 series. Hence, not much is new here to discuss. The UI allows plenty of customizations. From changing the size of grids on the home screen to changing themes, fonts and more, it has all of it. Out of the box, the device comes preloaded with over five Samsung apps. The company is already testing One UI 3.0 based on Android 11 for this device.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Cameras

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review, Galaxy S20 FE review, Prakhar Khanna

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE sports a triple rear camera setup. There is a 12MP primary camera with OIS and an f/1.8 aperture. It is accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide angle lens with an f/2.2 aperture and an 8MP telephoto sensor with OIS, 3x optical zoom, and 30x Space Zoom, which is basically hybrid zoom. Fortunately, Samsung isn’t playing the number game here by offering 2MP macro or depth sensors. There’s plenty of flexibility on offer.

The camera UI is similar to the one you’ll come across on the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note20 series. You get features like Single Take that allows you to capture up to nine different types of photos/videos with a single press of the button. It is fun to use, and the results can be pretty impressive at times. You also get live focus video, pro mode, pro video, panorama, food, night, super slow-mo, slow-mo, and hyperlapse.

The primary camera clicks solid pictures. The white balance is accurate in broad daylight. Plus, the colors are not oversaturated, and there is no noise in daylight.

Primary camera at dusk

However, it is a different story at dusk. There is a ‘pink’ problem with the primary camera here. It clicks pictures and processes them with a tint of pink. You can see in the above picture, the dog is visibly pink. It’s not a Pokemon, it was a normal dog.

As for human subjects in indoor lighting, the camera smoothens the skin and hair. If you have a beard, it will look like an oil painting post-processing. There is room for improvement in images clicked under indoor lighting.

There are plenty of zoom options available here. You get 0.5x with the wide-angle lens, 1x with the main lens, and 3x optical zoom with the telephoto lens. Further, you can go up to 30x hybrid zoom. As for the image quality, the results are good up till 3x zoom, and the images are usable till 10x zoom but after that, the results suffer from noise.

wide-angle

At 0.5x you also get some optical distortion.

Coming to the selfies, the front 32MP shooter clicks good quality images. It can be used to take regular and wide-angle shots for normal selfies as well as portraits. The edge detection in portrait shots is average. The color reproduction in indoor lighting is good, and unlike the primary rear camera, it produces comparatively sharper images but the details could be better.

Selfie

You can shoot up to 4K in 40 FPS with this device. The results are adequate for regular video needs.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review: Conclusion

I expected the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE to be a phone that I would be able to recommend whole-heartedly when it launched. But after using the device for over two weeks, the on-paper specifications haven’t translated to real-life performance.

There are two major letdowns with this device. First, it heats up in the upper half with normal usage. Secondly, battery life is below average. Plus it takes a long time to charge, which is unfortunate by 2020 standards. As I said, the company ‘did a Samsung’ here.

Having talked to my reviewer friends in the US, I can safely say that it could have been a different story with this device had Samsung launched the 5G variant with Snapdragon SoC in India. For now, I’ll not be able to recommend this device. At INR 49,999 you expect your phone to last an entire day but the Galaxy S20 FE doesn’t.

If you are in the market for a compact Samsung smartphone, you can look at the Galaxy S10 Lite. It costs less, has decent cameras, good performance, and lasts an entire day. However, you’ll lose out on a high refresh rate. If you want the latter too, the Galaxy S20 Plus is now on sale for INR 49,999. The Xiaomi Mi 10 is a decent competitor as well.

    Galaxy S20 FE
The Galaxy S20 FE is built on the footsteps of the Galaxy S20 series. Of course, it is less premium than the pricier offerings launched earlier this year, thanks to the usage of ‘glastic’ back instead of glass. Overall, it has good fit in hands, flagship performance with heating issues, decent cameras but most importantly, it disappoints with underwhelming battery life.

Amazon Prime Day has the 16-inch MacBook Pro, products from LG, Samsung and more on sale

The official news Today begin with deals as this is the second and final Prime Day so, let’s just get to the mountain of deals. The 16in MacBook Pro is currently $320 off, leaving the Intel core i7, 16GB of RAM and 512GB variant for $2079. If you want the i9 with 1TB of storage, that one is $350 off, leaving it at $2449. The Apple Watch Series 6 is still $15 off, that leaves the 40mm variant for $385. Back to the laptops, the Razer Blade 15 Advanced is $600 off, that leaves the 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage variant for $2000 shipped, and it brings an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super. Honestly I’m kind of tired of reading all of these specs but guys, there is a crazy amount of deals in the links below on Sony phones, headphones, LG Monitors, TVs, Aukey accessories and a ton more.

The new Huawei Mate 40 to include a unique camera design

And of course TechTober isn’t over.. We’re barely going through half of it and we have some more announcements coming. We’re getting closer to the Huawei Mate 40 line and the company just put out a new teaser. The teaser shows the silhouette of the phone and shows the corners of the camera module which is apparently getting a new design. Huawei pretty much introduced stove cameras with the Mate 20 and this new stove will apparently bring somewhat of a hexagonal design. It still looks pretty similar to the one on the Mate 30, but it’s nice to see they’re still trying to switch things up. We should expect this phone on the 22nd and honestly, if it can deliver like that teaser image we got of the phone, I don’t really care about how it looks. That said, we all know a phone is about more than just the camera and the looks so we’ll see.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is starting to present erratic touchscreen issues

Now let’s talk about existing phones, particularly with the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE that launched a few weeks ago. No worries, my video is coming soon. . The thing is, there are several users having touchscreen issues with it on Reddit, and I mean several. Apparently, the phone seems to be having trouble distinguishing between swipe and tap gestures. Others are complaining and saying that it’s simply not responding to touch or it just responds without you touching the phone. Of course the phone isn’t new and there’s not a crazy amount of people with the issue but, it’s enough for Samsung to address this. So far, I haven’t had any issues with my unit but I’ll keep you posted on Samsung’s response and if I have problems myself…, or it could just be that we’re in Halloween month. I know, terrible joke.

Here’s everything Apple didn’t say during its iPhone 12 event

Yesterday was Apple’s Event and of course, yesterday’s Pocketnow Daily includes pretty much everything you need to know about all of the announcements. However, there’s always a few things that Apple leaves out which have emerged recently. For starters, we know that they got rid of the EarPods and Charging brick for the 12 but they are actually removing them from all of their current line up. That includes the Xr, the SE, the 11 and the 12 Line. As some sort of consolation they are cutting the price of the EarPods in half, leaving them at $10 in the Apple Store. Apparently the 20W adaptor is now down to $20 from the original $30 so, that’s a good thing I guess. Another thing Apple usually doesn’t mention is the RAM on their new iPhones. According to a new Xcode file, the iPhone 12 Pro line packs at least 6GB of RAM, while the 12 and the 12 Mini will stick to 4GB we got with the 11. And to end with this segment, on a pretty negative note, the iPhone 12 is $799 if you buy on Verizon or AT&T with special carrier offers. If you go T-Mobile or SIM unlocked, the price jumps to $829. Definitely not cool Apple, as a ton of us go SIM free.

OnePlus Buds Z earbuds promise bombastic bass on a $45.99 budget

Now let’s talk OnePlus as the company had their event for the OnePlus 8T today but, as expected that’s not all we got from them so, let’s begin with the Buds Z. These are their latest True Wireless Earbuds which bring 10mm drivers, a Dolby Atmos stereo system and an IP55 rating. OnePlus promises 20 hours of playtime on a single charge, with 3 hours on a 10 minute charge. They bring Bluetooth 5.0 and the same quick pair feature from the original Buds. They weigh 4.35 grams, bring a dedicated gaming mode and come in a white colorway. The crazy thing is that you get all of this for $49, yeah.. There’s also a special Steve Harrington Edition for $60 bucks, and they also launched an exclusive Bullets Wireless Z Bass Edition for the Indian Market. These will be available on November 2nd on the OnePlus website. Oh, and before we get to the hottest, the company also announced a limited edition of the Nord in Gray Ash, so if make sure you check it out if you’re interested in the Nord. I know! $50 is insane, but can they deliver?

Story of the day:

OnePlus 8T brings a smoother 120Hz display, 65W fast charging, and a fresh design

Finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk about the OnePlus 8T which is finally official and you know it’s already in our labs. It brings the same processor from the regular 8 with the Snapdragon 865, depending on your region it’s either 8/128 or in the case of the US it’s 12GB of RAM and brings 256GB of on board storage. It runs on Oxygen OS 11 meaning, Android 11 out of the box bringing the new features like Zen Mode 2.0 and Group Zen Mode. It brings a 4500 mAh battery but, it now brings 65W Warp Charge, promising a full charge in 39 minutes, and even support for up to 45 watts on any Power Delivery charger that provides it. Now, let’s move on to the design which is getting a big overhaul for a OnePlus smartphone. It brings a flat 6.55in AMOLED Display running at 120Hz, with a 402ppi. The punch hole is still at the top left corner housing a 16MP selfie shooter. At the back we got a new stove camera module which includes an optically stabilized 48MP main sensor, a 16MP Ultra Wide, a forgettable 5MP macro lens and a 2MP monochrome lens. It comes in two color variants, Aquamarine Green and Lunar Silver… buuut… it starts at $749 and it is currently available for pre-orders, it’ll be available on stores by October 23rd.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is starting to present erratic touchscreen issues

Samsung has recently launched its new budget-friendly version of the Galaxy S20, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. This may be one of the best budget flagships available in the market since it includes several premium specs, but it stays away from the $1,000 price tags that we usually find in today’s flagship market. However, there is no such thing as a perfect smartphone, and some Galaxy S20 Fan Edition users are already reporting some issues with their phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 may not be as great as we initially thought. Some of its users have started posting complaints on Reddit and Samsung forums, as they mention erratic touchscreen problems. These basically consist of the phone having trouble distinguishing between swipe and tap gestures. Others note that the displays just don’t respond to touch input or start registering phantom inputs.

Now, the guys over at 9to5Google also experienced some issues with their review unit:
“Anecdotally, our own Samsung Galaxy S20 FE review unit is also experiencing these touchscreen issues. In my usage, the phone will regularly turn on the “pocket” mode even when I’m holding it normally and occasionally messes up swiping actions. In speaking to Samsung, the company wasn’t aware of the problem being widespread as of last week with a hardware replacement being shipped to my doorstep this week. As a result, we opted to delay our review until giving the new unit a test run.”

Complaints are not as numerous, so it is believed that this may be an issue limited to a few units. However, it is too soon to draw conclusions as to whether this is a software or hardware problem, and we also have to wait for Samsung to acknowledge the issue officially. Whatever the case, we hope it gets sorted out fast, so it doesn’t affect more customers.

HarmonyOS 2.0 will be available on the Mate 40 phones first, then P40 and Mate 30

Now let’s talk Huawei as all eyes are on the company’s plans with how they’ll handle operating systems going forward. The company just made kind of a bold move. They confirmed that some of the phones running EMUI 11 will be able to install Harmony OS 2.0. Apparently there’s a leaked schedule on Weibo, for when and which phones will be able to download it. The first batch of phones uses the Kirin 9000 Series which is the unreleased Mate 40 Series. The second batch includes the Kirin 990 5G, which includes the P40, and Mate 30 models. What’s interesting is that even older phones, powered by the Kirin 710 and 810 will be able to get it in the final batches. We usually get the Mate Series in mid-October but, due to some production issues with their latest Kirin chips, we have no word on when we’ll be getting them this year or if they’re coming until 2021. I guess this is like the times of the HTC HD2 where all that’s missing now is for Huawei phones to run Windows?

Microsoft Surface Duo devices show cracks around its USB-C port

Shifting over to Microsoft, let’s discuss one of the company’s most controversial launches this year. It’s been a couple of months since the Surface Duo went live and even though it has a pretty sleek design and it seems good on paper, reviews weren’t exactly positive for this device. And, if you remember, our buddy Zack from JerryRigEverything said this phone was basically impossible to repair. Well, several Surface Duo owners are reporting that the plastic around the USB-C port is cracking. There’s little to no space around the USB-C port, to make the device thinner and apparently it wasn’t a good choice. According to some of them, it cracked while they were plugging in the charging cable and others say it happened in their pocket. At the moment it seems like a cosmetic issue and reddit users are talking about how magnetic chargers could be a solution but, it’s things you shouldn’t be getting on a $1400 phone. I know many of you asked me to review it, but fact of the matter is, as much as I want to this is still an experiment.. A cool one though, but this is the curse of the early adopter. I’ll keep you posted on how it turns out.

US could get two budget OnePlus phones by the end of the month

Now when it comes to OnePlus, sure we’ve been talking about the OnePlus 8T coming soon, but the company pretty much confirmed that the Nord wasn’t a one time thing, and that we’d be getting more mid-ranger with time. According to a tipster on Twitter, OnePlus is gearing to launch two new Nord devices in the US by the end of this month. These two devices are called the Nord N10 and the Nord N100. We’ve heard rumors of the N10 before but not really for the N100. The leaked specs for the N10 include the Snapdragon 690 SoC which supports 5G, a 6.5in display running at 90Hz, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’ll also bring a quad camera setup with a 64MP shooter and the price should start somewhere around the $400 mark. Now, the N100 would be cheaper than the N10, with a Snapdragon 460, a 6.5in display, and a triple camera array with a 13MP main sensor. It should also bring 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage with a crazy 6000 mAh battery. The price tag for this one should be around the $200 mark. We’ll keep you posted as we should know more on October 14th, because it could just be that we get everything at the same time.

Smaller HomePod and AirPods Studio launch may be getting closer

Now let’s move on to Apple, and don’t worry guys, we’ll talk iPhone in a second but first, let’s talk about other things we could be getting at Apple’s Event. For the longest time, Apple has sold third party headphones and speakers on the Apple Store but, they just stopped. They’re no longer selling from Sonos, Bose and Logitech, hinting that we’re closed to the company releasing their own solution. According to Bloomberg, Cupertino removed them from the online Apple Store at the end of September, and Apple employees have allegedly been asked to pull these products from the shelves in the past few days. If you remember they have done things like this in the past, when they removed fitness trackers before they launched the Apple Watch. Several rumors have hinted that we’ll be getting a lower cost HomePod and the AirPods Studio. We don’t have much information on the HomePod, but the AirPods Studio are expected to feature a metal and leather design with magnetic Ear Cups, reversible detection and Apple’s U1 chip. Are any of you guys waiting on either of these products, because those AirPods Studio sound nice.

Story of the day:

Apple sends out invites for October 13 launch event. Brace for i(Phone 12)mpact!

And finally, the hottest news of the day have to do with what you’ve been waiting for, Apple’s event for October. The leaks were right, what can I say? Apple just sent out press invitations for an event that will happen on October 13th at 10AM PST. The teaser shows the Apple logo in orange, with some blue bubbles surrounding it and it reads “Hi Speed”, but before we get into what that means, let’s recap on everything we know about the iPhone 12 so far.. We’re expecting 4 different phones this year, a 5.4in 12 Mini, a 6.1in 12, a 6.1in 12 Pro and last but not least, the 6.7in 12 Pro Max. All of these phones will bring OLED displays and we still have a little hope that 120Hz can make the cut, please Apple. They will also offer 5G support and will run on Apple’s new A14 Bionic chip. We’re also expecting a much flatter design, reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and a slimmer notch, at least on the Pro models. We’re not sure when it comes to the RAM as Apple never really discloses it but, we’re expecting the regular models to start at 64GB of storage, while the Pros will start at 128GB. We’re also expecting them to bring probably the same triple camera array but with a LiDAR sensor for the Pros, and a dual camera array for the regular ones. Oh, and who can forget, we’re not getting EarPods, or a charging brick in the box. When it comes to the price tags, the latest leaks hinted to the 12 Mini starting at $649, the regular 12 at $750, and the Pros at $999 and $1099 respectively. Now, there’s obviously a lot of speculation on what Hi Speed can mean, it could be because of 5G, the A14 bionic, and maybe, just maybe 120Hz??? Other things we could be getting at this event include the AirPods Studio, a new HomePod, and hopefully some of the Apple Silicon Macs.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE, Google Pixel 4 and more devices are on sale today

The official news today begin with deals, and what do you call a phone that hasn’t launched yet and is already getting discounts? Uhh, Samsung does not like to waste time. The Galaxy S20 FE which was just announced yesterday.. It’s not even in stores yet, is already on sale at both Amazon and B&H. You can get the entry level variant in all 6 color options for $100 off, leaving it at $600 shipped. Moving on to Pixel territory, the 4 and the 4 XL are still on sale. The entry level variant of the 4 is currently $269 off, leaving it at $530 shipped. The 4 XL is $350 off, leaving that at $649 shipped. We also have more deals on Garmin Watches and more in the links in the description.

Amazon launches its game streaming service called Luna, and here’s everything we know

And just like yesterday, let’s keep talking Amazon but don’t worry, no Apple deals. It seems like Cloud-based game streaming services are the new thing,.. Even if no one has gotten it right, but hey Amazon has just announced their own service “Luna”, to compete with Microsoft in Google. To play games on this new platform all you need is a stable connection, a compatible controller or mouse and keyboard and a supported platform. Luna runs on PC, MacOS, Fire TV devices like the Fire Stick, and finally, Chrome and Safari. It’s currently on an early access period but, you can already purchase the controller for $49.99 right now and honestly, it doesn’t look too bad. The early access for Luna+ is currently $5.99 and it has games like Resident Evil 7, GRID and other titles. We’ll keep you posted as it evolves, we hope it does better than what Google and Microsoft have been doing because this type of services aren’t really taking off.

Next MWC Barcelona would now take place in June

Now let’s talk about tradeshows and that illogical plan to make them virtual.. You and I know that doesn’t work. If you remember MWC was cancelled this year and how things are going, we didn’t really think we were getting one next year either but apparently that won’t be the case. GSM Association just announced that next year’s MWC will happen between June 28th and July 1st, 2021. If you’re thinking, how are companies going go on with their launch schedule, MWC Shanghai will be happening in the usual dates of February 23-25. Obviously, the Shanghai event will be focused on the Asian Pacific markets with brands that don’t usually go to the Barcelona Event, but we do hope to see something considering how 2020 went. Finally, the company announced that MWC Los Angeles 2021 will still happened in October, as scheduled. We’ll keep you posted if big names will move their events to Shanghai or, if we’ll have to wait until June… Summer in Barcelona doesn’t sound like a bad idea.

New Samsung Galaxy S21 to arrive with an Exynos 2100 processor

Speaking of things we usually get in February, let’s talk Galaxy S Line. Lately there’s been some reports that claim that the Exynos 1000 will be faster than the Snapdragon 875 and that it will power the S21 but, we know you guys aren’t fans of Exynos so we haven’t covered them on the show. However, the S21+ just went through Geekbench and it shows some changes that aren’t good. In these benchmarks, the S21+ is rocking an Exynos 2100 chip, which is actuakky worse than the Exynos 1000 and than the Snapdragon 875. Heck, it’s only slightly even better than the current S20+. But enough with the benchmark scores talk, some of the specs revealed were 8GB of RAM, a 4800 mAh battery and it was running Android 11. Of course, we’re still early and this doesn’t mean for sure that we’re getting that processor on the S21 but if that’s the case, Samsung better price it low. Is it just me or are plastic backs and a meager Galaxy Note 20 indications that Samsung is pulling an HTC now?

The new iPad Pro could be the first Apple device with mini-LED display

Now let’s talk about Apple as we’ve been hearing about mini-LED Apple products for a long time now. For those of you who don’t know, mini-LED displays offer a better color gamut performance, higher contrast, dynamic range and local dimming for darker blacks, amongst other features. Now, we have a new report from Ming Chi Kuo that says that Apple has been working on mini-LED displays for quite a while now, and we may be soon getting six new products that feature this technology. Kuo claims that these will be iPads and Macs and, he also included that the first device to bring it will be the 12.9in iPad Pro. The report mentions that Apple will be accelerating their adoption of mini-LED panels as they’re performing better than expected in their testing. These displays would be manufactured by a new manufacturer called Sanan Opto-electronics but, Epistar will remain their main supplier for these displays. This iPad Pro should arrive with 5G connectivity and we should see it some time in Q1 of 2021.

Story of the day:

Pixel 4a 5G leak reveals it’s a slightly toned-down Pixel 5 with a cheaper build

Google Pixel 5 leak reveals the upcoming phone in all its green glory

And finally for the hottest news today, let’s do a second round on the Google Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5. Yesterday we covered a very extensive leak of the Google Pixel 5 and, we’ll actually talk more about it in a quick second. Let’s begin with the Pixel 4a 5G which got the same treatment. According to this leak, it will bring a 6.2in OLED display running at 60Hz. It will also be powered by the Snapdragon 765G, but it will bring 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 3800 mAh. It will bring the same camera array as the Pixel 5 with a 12.2MP main sensor with OIS, a 16MP ultra wide and it will be capable of recording 4K video at 60fps. It’ll obviously run on Android 11 and it will bring a headphone jack, yay. Google already confirmed the price tag for this phone to be $499 in the US. This is all fine and dandy, but let’s get back to the Pixel 5. We have some new high quality pictures from Evan Blass, showing off the final design for this phone in both color variants. Again, this design is based on the 4a, meaning it brings a punch hole display but with slimmer bezels, the fingerprint sensor, dual tone power button and probably the only difference is the dual camera module which looks like the one on the Pixel 4. Specs are pretty similar to the 4a 5G but with some extra RAM. On these renders we can see the green variant in high quality for the first time and it will apparently bring a more premium metallic build, instead of the polycarbonate we’re getting on the 4a 5G.

New hands-on video of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE leaves nothing to the imagination

The new Fan Edition version of the S20 is scheduled to be announced on the next Galaxy Unpacked For Every Fan event on September 23, but recent leaks and rumors have told us just about everything we would want to know about this new device. Just yesterday, we saw some hands-on pictures of the phone, but now we get a complete video that shows us every detail of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is just days away from its official launch, but we basically know everything there is to know about the device. Now, we have a new video of the Galaxy S20 FE at YouTube channel JimmyisPromo. He walks us through every important detail of the device, and he also takes the time to compare the Galaxy S20 FE to the regular Galaxy S20 and the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

This video comes to confirm tons of the rumors which have been related to the Galaxy S20 FE. First, he claims that this will be an aggressively priced device that may arrive with a $699 or $750 price tag, depending on the storage space you want to get. He also shows us every single side of the phone, pointing out that it will not feature a headphone jack. On the positive side, he mentions that the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will include a similar camera to the one found in the vanilla Galaxy S20 that is a couple of hundred bucks more expensive than this version. Just don’t expect to find a ToF camera sensor in this device.

Now, we are still waiting for information regarding availability for the 5G and the 4G versions of the device, as we know that the 5G variant will be the version to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. In contrast, the LTE-only version will be stuck with Exynos processors.

We have a combination of rumors and official news for you today. First, Samsung’s latest foldable device was announced on September 1, and it is now available for purchase in several countries around the world. At the same time, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was caught on a series of hands-on pictures, and they’re all here for you to see.

This device arrives with two screens, the first one is a 7.6-inch foldable AMOLED display, and the second one is a 6.23-inch screen on the outer part of the device.

We find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ processor, 12GB RAM, and 256GB storage inside of this device. It includes a triple camera setup that features a 12MP primary sensor, a 12MP telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide. We also get a 10MP selfie camera and a second 10MP camera, which is placed in the upper right half of the foldable display. Now, this won’t be a cheap device, and you know it. Why not focus on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G?

We basically know everything we need about the new Galaxy S20 Fan Edition after the recent leak of its infographic. Now we get an idea of how the device may look in real life after @jimmyispromo has posted some real-life images of the device. He also includes some of the device’s specs, and an expected €700 price tag for European markets. Now, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE will be launched next Wednesday, so you may want to wait a bit longer before deciding on your next Samsung phone.

Remember that this device is expected to arrive in a 5G variant with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor with a 4,500mAh battery, while the LTE-only version would include an Exynos 990 processor and a smaller battery. Here’s your first detailed look at the OnePlus 8T and its key specifications

We’re still a few weeks away from the OnePlus 8T hopefully and the leaks hinted that this phone wouldn’t be much of a design change but, apparently those were wrong. We have some new CAD renders from OnLeaks that show off the new design. Some of the most notable changes include a flat display and of course, we’re getting a stove at the back. This new stove module will actually pack a quad camera array according to these renders. Back to the display and the rest of the specs, it’ll reportedly be a 6.55in FHD+ display, running at 120Hz, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, not the Plus, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for the entry level model. It’ll run on Android 11 and it’ll bring a 4500 mAh battery. Finally, according to the video, it’ll bring a 48MP main sensor which will reportedly be an upgrade over the one on the 8, a 16MP wide angle lens, a 5MP macro and a 2MP portrait camera. We’ll keep you posted as, the launch should happen some time soon now… but yeah, I know.. Identical to the Galaxy S20.

LG WING with Swivel display goes official

After about a month of leaks, the LG Wing is finally official. IT features a 6.8in P-OLED Full Vision main display with a 3.9in secondary with doubles up as a grip lock. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB of expandable storage and a 4000 mAh battery. It has a triple camera setup at the back which consists of a 64MP main sensor, and two 13MP ultra wide cameras as well as a 32MP selfie shooter at the front. It brings different modes for you to be able to take advantage of both screens like “Swivel Mode” once you rotate the device, “Basic Mode” when the phone is in its natural state and even “Grip Lock Mode” which let’s you use the secondary display to show information like the time and date while it ignores accidental touches. The company also mentions that the hinge mechanism is still reliable after 200,000 swivels. It’ll come to the US, the UK, Australia and other countries but we don’t have an official date or a price tag yet.

Alleged hands-on video of iPhone 12 Pro’s chassis shows a familiar design and LiDAR sensor

Apple AirTags design may have leaked before possible launch

Ming-Chi Kuo reveals important details about the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup

And just as we recorded Friday’s Pocketnow Daily where we talked about Apple, a hot leak of the iPhone 12 came out. EverythingApplePro, tweeted out a hands on video of the iPhone 12 Pro’s chassis. According to him this is the 6.1in Pro Model and the video shows the inside of the panel as well as the exterior. On it, we can see the flat sides, the new LiDAR sensor placement and possibly the connector for the 5G antenna if you look closely on the insides. We also got a new report from Ming Chi Kuo where he confirmed that the iPhone 12 Pro won’t bring a 120Hz display, as those will come until next year but, this year’s Pro models will bring a narrower notch. He also mentioned that the iPads we’re getting at this event will bring Touch ID on the power button to pave the way for the larger display. And, speaking of things we could get tomorrow, earlier today, Jon Prosser, released a video on Apple’s upcoming AirTags. This is a render created based on a real video of the actual tags according to their sources. They’ll apparently be slightly bigger than a bottle cap, and they’ll have a pretty clean design, kind of like the old battery slot cap for Magic Keyboards with a white top and the Apple logo on the inside. We’re not sure when we’re getting these AirTags but we could see them tomorrow, and we’re not expecting the iPhone 12 until October but hopefully we’ll see something tomorrow.

Story of the day:

Google schedules September 30 event to launch Pixel 5 and new smart devices

Speaking of events we’re getting soon, Google just sent out press invitations for the Pixel Event which will happen on September 30th. The teaser reads “Launch Night In” obviously alluding to the fact that we’re going to have to watch the event from home as it also says “your couch is the best seat in the house” but, it also teases some sort of improvements for Night Mode because, this is Google. They’re even teasing other products that we were expecting like Google’s Sabrina dongle which brings Android TV to the Chromecast’s form factor, some new smart speakers, and of course, we’re expecting to see the possible Google Pixel 5, Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5S? There’s been a lot of confusion with the Pixel 5 because we keep hearing of more variants. The Pixel 5 will reportedly bring a similar design and footprint to the current 4a, with a dual camera at the back, a fingerprint sensor and a punch hole display. Some of the leaked specs include the Snapdragon 765G, a 6in OLED display running at 90Hz, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, no leaks on the price tag yet. The 5s will reportedly be the mmWave variant for this phone, with the regular one being sub-6GHz 5G. The 4a 5G will be the larger variant and will reportedly bring similar specs to the regular 5G but with the dual camera as well.

Is this the price of the new Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition?

We keep getting hints that the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition is inching closer to its launch. The latest leak comes all the way from Slovakia, where one of the country’s mobile operators has already confirmed the price of the new “budget-friendly” version of the Galaxy S20.

It seems that the new Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition will be available for purchase starting at €699. Slovakian mobile operator Orange posted the phone’s price on its official website before the phone’s possible launch, which is expected to take place next week, on September 23, when Samsung will host the new Galaxy Unpacked For Every Fan event.

The listing was taken down after a while, but you can still follow the link in case you’re curious. The image listed on Orange’s website wasn’t even an official render, since it was an old render that was previously released by @evleaks. The listing also confirmed some of the phone’s hardware specs, which include the display, camera, and battery.

Now, if you’re not familiar with the possible specs of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, we will put you up to date. The device is expected to include a 65.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2400×1080 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate that you won’t find in the upcoming iPhone 12 lineup. You would also find Gorilla Glass 3 and two processors powering the show. The first processor would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the US variant, while the international variant will include the Exynos 990 chipset.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE would also come in 5G and LTE configurations, with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage space. The phone’s triple camera setup will include a 12MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto, and you will find the largest sensor in the front, as it will pack a 32MP selfie camera and a 4,500mAh battery that will hopefully keep your phone going throughout the day.
