Samsung’s next foldables could launch earlier than expected

It’s no secret that samsung is preparing the next set of foldable for 2021. The company is tipped to launch the successors of both Galaxy Z Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip. Earlier rumors have said that the devices could be launched as soon as July. Now, the latest development reiterates the earlier rumor for the launch of Galaxy Z fold 3 and Galazy Z Flip 2.

According to a report from The Elec, Samsung is prepping to launch its next foldable smartphones in July. Moreover, it restates the past rumors of LTPO screens with under-display cameras and S-pen stylus support. Further, it says that the upcoming Fold will have a battery capacity that is less than its successor. It is said to pack a 4,380mAh dual-cell battery as opposed to the 4,500mAh found on the Galaxy Z Fold 2.

According to a previous report, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be available with at least 256GB of storage. It is likely to run Android 11 and it will come with One UI 3.5. On the other hand, the next Galaxy Z Flip 2 is said to be available is 128GB and 256GB storage options. It is also said to run Android 11.

The next Fold’s concept-based render suggests that the foldable smartphone will have the rear panel aesthetics of the Galaxy S21 series. It is also tipped to cost the same as its predecessor. Samsung is rumored to be developing the Galaxy Z Fold 3 to come equipped with an under-display selfie camera. Moreover, the company might be modifying the S Pen technology so that the stylus can be used with the upcoming foldable device as well.

Coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 2, it could feature a 120Hz display surrounded by slimmer bezels. As per concept-based renders, the next Flip could feature a design inspired by the Galaxy S21 lineup. It is also expected to feature a bigger outer display.

Pocketnow Daily: Samsung Galaxy S21 Certified & Crazy Black Friday Deals! (video)

These are the best Samsung deals for Black Friday

The official news today begin with deals, but just a heads up, we’re gonna spend the next couple of shows focusing a lot on these in more than one segment, as there is just too much given the holidays. For all you Samsung fans in the audience, this one is for you as these continue to be crazy deals if you have an eligible device to trade in. The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is available for the same $1000 we mentioned yesterday, but now in both color options and the customizable hinge. The Note 20 Ultra is available for $550 and the regular Note 20 for a crazy $250. Moving on to the S Series, you can get the S20 for $390, the S20+ for $540 and the Ultra for $740, might makes them a tough pick given the crazy deal for the Note 20 Ultra. To end with Samsung, you can also get the S20 FE for $140 so, again, all these deals apply if you have an eligible device to trade in. Sticking to Samsung and their trade-ins, the Galaxy Watch 3 is also available for $140 and the Titanium version is available for $300. Pretty much half of for both of them. We also have deals on the Galaxy Buds, the Watch Active 2 and more in the description.

Samsung Chromebooks, Razer gaming accessories, and more on sale

Now let’s continue with segment 2, as companies keep rolling with the fact that we shouldn’t have to wait until Black Friday to get some good stuff. Let’s begin with audio products, starting with Sony’s new WH Mark 4 over the ear headphones which are $72 off, that leaves them for $278 shipped on Amazon. If you want earbuds, the WF Mark 3s are available for $62 off, that leaves those for $168 shipped. Sony’s Amazon Exclusive variant for some other over the ear headphones with a really complicated name are also $112 off, leaving those for a crazy $88 shipped. Finally, Amazon and Razer are going at it with their own Black Friday sale. For example. The Razer Huntsman Elite keyboard, which is one of my favorites, is $50 off, leaving it at $150. The Deathadder V2 is $20 off meaning you can get it for $50 and there’s a ton more in the links in the description, along with other Chromebook deals. No worries, I know you’re also looking forward to Apple deals, so tune in throughout the week as we’ll have those also detailed in one of the segments.

POCO M3 with 6000mAh battery, SD 662 SoC debuts in Europe

Now let’s switch to official news as another company having a great year is clearly POCO. They’ve done multiple launches so far, and today is yet another day for that. The company is back at it again as they just launched the new M3. It features a 6.53in FHD+ display, it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662, 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of expandable storage. It runs Android 10 out of the box, and it also brings other features like dual speakers, a headphone jack (yes, that’s a feature now) and a dual SIM slot. Now, when it comes to the cameras, you get a triple lens setup that consists of a 48MP main sensor along with two 2MP sensors and the module kinda looks like the one on the Cyberpunk Edition of the OnePlus 8T. Why should you know about it? Well it sports a crazy 6000 mAh battery. What’s even crazier is that all that starts for just the equivalent of $149 but, you can get it for $129 this Black Friday.

The Galaxy Z Flip2 will not be unveiled alongside the Galaxy S21, will launch after Q1 instead

Now let’s switch gears to Samsung, but this time for the usual batch of rumors that typically happens when we’re already close to a launch. There’s been multiple reports and hints that the Galaxy S line will launch very early in the year, either January or February (more on that later). But, another product we’re expecting to come out with the S line is the next Z Flip but it looks like that won’t be the case. According to a new report from the Elec, we will be getting the Z Flip 2 until after Q1 and it won’t be joining the S21 line for January’s Unpacked Event. Apparently one reason this could happen is because Samsung is trying to spread out their device launches to keep them from driving sales to each one, especially since we won’t be getting a Note next year as, the S21 Ultra and the Z Fold 3 are getting an S Pen. Sammy will reportedly have 6M S21’s ready for the initial batch, the same as last year because Samsung is expecting foldables to drive more sales. Now, I wonder how they plan to get more sales, if not by dropping the price tag. We’ll see.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy S21 has received BIS certification

And finally, the hottest news today have to do with Samsung, again, but more specifically on more details that pertain to the Samsung Galaxy S21 line. We keep getting more clues that this device will launch earlier than expected. The Galaxy S21 was recently certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards, which makes it pretty evident that Samsung is gearing up for that launch. Sadly, this exact certification does not give us any details on the phone internals and only the regular S21 appeared in the database. However, let’s still recap on the Ultra’s leaked specs as it’s probably going to be the one stealing all of the headlines. We’re expecting a 6.8in WQHD+ display with adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. It’ll be powered by the Snapdragon 875 or the Exynos 2100, a 5000 mAh battery, running One UI 3.1 with 5G and all the bells and whistles you could expect. When it comes to the cameras, you’re getting the 108MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide, and a two 10MP lenses, one with 3X optical zoom and one with 10X. And of course, this phone is also rumored to bring S Pen support. We’re expecting the event to happen some time around January 14th and the launch around the 29th.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 could arrive with stereo speakers

We’re several months away from the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2, but that doesn’t mean that it’s a bad time to start receiving rumors that mention some of its possible upgrades. The latest information comes from Twitter and from two different sources, which also give us an idea of when the device may launch.

If you’re looking for a foldable phone with a clamshell design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G may be one of your best options. Unfortunately, this phone came equipped with a single firing speaker that didn’t deliver great audio quality. Luckily, it seems that the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 may fix this, as a new tweet suggests that it will come with stereo speakers.

Another rumor concerning the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 comes from Ross Young. He tells Galaxy Z fans that according to his sources, the Z Flip 2 will be launched until Summer. He had previously mentioned that Samsung’s new foldable would arrive sometime in Spring, so it seems that we may have to wait a bit longer to see the new device. But at least we won’t have to wait until late 2021 to get the device, as he had originally suggested back in September. We are also expecting the new device to include a larger 1.1-inch outer display, a better triple camera setup, and a display with 120Hz refresh rates.

So, in the end, it seems that we will have some nice spacing between the launch of Samsung’s flagships next year. Let’s remember that we could see the new Galaxy S21 Series launch in January, and we are still waiting for any hints that mention the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which may finally include stylus support and other new features.

Pocketnow Daily: iPhone 12 Pro Durability Tests & Secret Features Revealed! (video)

Google Pixel 4a, iPads and more devices are on sale today

The official news today begin with deals as per usual, cause even installment plans actually make sense right now. For example the Google Pixel 4a is currently available for a $5 a month on Verizon. Of course there’s specific restrictions but, you’ll be getting an Unlimited Plan and you’ll end up paying $128 for the 128GB variant. I know international kids, don’t laugh about how expensive plans are in the US. Moving on to B&H, the LG G8 ThinQ is currently $450 off, leaving it at $500 from it’s original price tag. Moving on to Amazon, we have your daily dose of Apple deals, for example the latest 11in iPad Pro is $50 off, leaving the 128GB of storage variant for $750. The Apple Watch Series 5 is also $79 off, leaving the 44mm variant for $350. We have more deals on Apple products, Razer peripherals. Jabra earbuds and more in the links in the description.

Insta360 ONE X2 launches as the ultimate personal 360-degree camera

Now let’s move on to official news, and particularly for one of the companies that continues to have my favorite approach to action cams and that keeps 360 degree video alive. Insta360 just launched their new One X2. This is a pocket camera designed to replace a multi-cam setup to give you ultra wide video, panoramas, and of course, 360 degree video. It brings several changes from the original model, like a new 1630 mAh battery which let’s you shoot for up to 80 minutes, a new HD touch screen to preview your shot and that also includes 360 degree video, It’s also water resistant up to 33 feet with no case and it brings four microphones. The camera also brings improved performance, and their new AI tech let’s you change focus and other things while editing it, which you couldn’t do before. It’s currently available for $430 in Adorama and B&H. Really the only thing I’m curious about is if you still need to use their software to be able to edit their videos, cause that’s the only thing I still struggle with.

AMD unleashes Radeon RX 6000 series GPUs based on RDNA 2 architecture

And would you look at that, the cool part about TechTober is that official news actually superseed the typical rumor mill. AMD just unveiled three new GPUs for their RX 6000 series. Basically these 3 graphic cards bring RDNA 2 architecture and they undercut Nvidia’s RTX 30 series in price tag and manage to still bring somewhat of a comparable performance as well as lower power consumption. For context, this is the same architecture powering the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. This new lineup starts at $579 with the RX 68000 which competes with the $1199 RTX 2080 Ti which is from last generation. Next up, you get the Rx 6800 XT which directly competes with the Nvidia RTX 3080, offering you 4K and 1440p gaming with 16GB of GDDR6 memory for $649. Finally, you get the RX 6900 XT flagship which is aimed at 8K gamers, and it’ll set you back at $999. We got more technical details in the description but with these prices, why would the average consumer go for the Nvidia cards? Of course, they’re still crazy powerful but, AMD’s prices just make more sense.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 could still arrive in the first half of 2021

Now let’s move the spotlight over to Samsung, for those of you that thought we weren’t gonna cover leaks today. Ross Young is already talking about the Galaxy Z Flip 2. According to his latest tweet, he claims that the Z Flip 2 won’t be launched with the Galaxy S21 but it will be launched in the Spring and he is impressed with the upgrades we’re getting. If you think about it, this makes a lot of sense because all of the rumors hint to the Galaxy S launching way earlier, either late January or February, so a later Spring launch for the Z Flip would help Samsung stay in the spotlight. We’re expecting this Z Flip 2, to bring both 4G and 5G connectivity but other than that, we don’t have a lot of information on this Z Flip 2, other than these upgrades Ross Young is talking about, which he doesn’t really mention. I know I want a larger outer display but let us know what you guys would like to see to care about this phone.

Apple could be working on its own search engine to replace Google

Now let’s flip on over to the boring politics section, and what companies are doing about it. If you remember, about a week ago we covered how Google was being sued and one of the reasons was, the deal they have with Apple to be their exclusive search engine. Well, as of now, Google reportedly pays $10-12B to be Apple’s main search provider but, thanks to this lawsuit, it may end. And now a new report claims that Cupertino is silently working on a new Search Engine to replace Google in case their deal is blocked. It’s still unclear whether this engine will be a full-blown website like Google, or just an enhanced Spotlight Search, which is already linking websites directly, bypassing Google. These payments from Google reportedly make around 20% of Apple’s revenue which is, a huge deal. Apple will most likely try to build this new solution around privacy so, let’s see what we end up getting cause if Siri is going to be the backbone of this service, who knows if it’ll actually work out.

iPhone 12 Pro’s Ceramic Shield doesn’t help against scratches

Apple iPhone 12 series supports reverse wireless charging, but it’s hidden: FCC filing

And finally the hottest news today have to do with Apple, and the things they don’t tell you until they’re discovered in teardowns. And yes, it happened, the iPhone 12 Pro just went through Zack’s JerryRigEverything’s Durability test, revealing some stuff that we were waiting to confirm. If you follow me on Twitter, and you definitely should, you probably saw that I scratched my 12 Pro within the first 5 minutes after unboxing it because I stacked the phones together and it obviously made me question the Ceramic Shield. Well, on Zack’s teardown he confirmed that even with the new technology it still scratches at a level 6 with deeper grooves at level 7, however he did say that the level 6 scratches aren’t as noticeable when compared to other glass panels. And he also said that thanks to the build and the ceramic shield this phone should be more drop resistant, which other channels have confirmed. His video will be linked in the description but, let’s move on to other things we didn’t know about the iPhone 12. According to a new FCC filing, the iPhone 12 has a “dormant” reverse wireless charging feature through MagSafe at 360kHz, “perhaps for an external Apple accessory in the future”. A couple of days ago we covered how we should be getting new AirPods soon so, maybe Apple is waiting until they release those for them to enable the feature and advertise it, and since the iPhone has magnets, it might actually make sense

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 could still arrive in the first half of 2021

We have new information concerning the possible launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2. Previous rumors suggested that this device would be delayed until late 2021, but it seems that Samsung has figured out the way to launch this phone in the first half of 2021.

Last month, @DSCCRoss posted on Twitter that Samsung was going to delay the launch of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 to late 2021. However, he once again talks about the device and possible launch times, as he believes that the phone will still manage to be launched in Spring 2021. He also explains that the device will not be ready in time to launch alongside the new Samsung Galaxy S21 series, which is rumored to launch as early as January 2021.

This could mean that Samsung will hold a special event for the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip 2, where we may also get to see other Samsung products. Let’s remember that the first Galaxy Z Flip was launched back in February in its 4G only version, while the latest version with 5G support was launched a couple of months ago.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 is expected to feature both 4G and 5G support, and rumors also claim that it could arrive with the same price tag as its predecessor. And a previous leak at Geekbench suggests that it may come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and 8GB RAM, with 256GB storage space.

What about you? are you interested in getting a new Galaxy Z Flip 2, or do you think it’s still too soon to transition over to foldable devices?
