Samsung’s “Buy and Try” program will let you try out foldables for 100 days

Foldable smartphones are making their own niche in the premium segment. At more than USD 1,000, they aren’t meant for everyone. However, Samsung is aiming to make these phones more accessible to everyone. The company has launched a “Buy and Try” program for select foldable devices. It will let the consumers try and see if a foldable device is right for them.

Samsung has launched a “Buy and Try” program for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G. Customers can either of the two devices and try it out  for 100 days. This is the first time Samsung is offering a program of this kind for its mobile devices, extending the return period from 15 days to 100 days. The new program follows Samsung’s new, lower starting price of $1,199.99 for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G Unlocked by the company.

The 100 day “Buy and Try” program for the Galaxy Z Flip 5G and Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is now available exclusively on Samsung.com until April 1.

Meanwhile, Samsung is tipped to be prepping to launch its next set of foldable smartphones. Rumors have already started to pile up regarding the two upcoming phones, and they suggest that these devices could be launched as soon as July this year.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3  concept-based render suggests that the foldable smartphone will have the rear panel aesthetics of the Galaxy S21 series Other leaks suggest that it might cost the same as its predecessor, while another rumor points to a June debut. The phone is also said to come equipped with an under-display selfie camera. Moreover, Samsung could be modifying the S Pen technology so that the stylus can be used with the upcoming foldable device as well.

Samsung gives the Galaxy Z Flip 5G foldable phone a permanent $250 price cut

Samsung has today permanently shaved a hefty $250 off the asking price of its latest clamshell foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. Originally launched for $1,450, the phone is now listed on the official Samsung US online store for $1,299.99 for unlocked as well as AT&T bound version. However, at the moment, only the Mystic Bronze color option appears to be in the stock, while the Mystic White and Mystic Gray trims are absent from the inventory.

Galaxy Z Flip 5G is not cheap at $1,200, but it is the cheapest foldable from Samsung

Following the price cut, the Galaxy Z Flip 5G is now the most affordable foldable phone in Samsung’s line-up, even cheaper than its predecessor. Oddly enough, the older Galaxy Z Flip is still listed on the Samsung store with a $1,300 price tag in tow. The only key difference between the two phones is that the Galaxy Z Flip has the newer Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC inside, while the first-gen Galaxy Z Flip draws power from the Snapdragon 855+ SoC. And oh, the former supports 5G connectivity, while the latter is limited to 4G.

For an asking price of $1,200, you get a 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED inner folding display with a hole punch, and a tiny 1.1-inch (300×112) Super AMOLED cover display. Inside, the Snapdragon 865 Plus handles things, ticking alongside 8 gigs of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. A 3,300mAh battery inside the Galaxy Z Flip 5G keeps the lights on, and it offers support for wireless as well as reverse wireless charging.

For $1,200, you can either get a foldable phone, or the overpowered Galaxy S21 Ultra

In the imaging department, you get an optically-stabilized 12MP wide camera sitting alongside a 12MP ultra-wide angle snapper. On the front, you’ll find a 10MP selfie camera. While the internal hardware might not be the most powerful out there for its asking price, the true appeal of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G lies in its foldable form factor.

If you’re looking for alternatives, the Motorola Razr 5G will cost you an additional $200, but will offer much worse specifications. And in case you want to make the most of your money, that $1,200 will net you the Galaxy S21 Ultra which comes equipped with the latest gen Qualcomm processor, way more versatile and powerful cameras, larger battery, and newer software among other perks.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 gets a Mystic Red trim, Galaxy Z Flip 5G now comes in Mystic White

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Samsung has today introduced two new color options for two of its premium offerings just in time for the holiday season. The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 5G now comes in a new Mystic Red color option. At first look, it looks similar to the bright red makeover that Samsung gave to the Galaxy Note 10. But instead of the glossy finish on the latter, the Mystic Red trim of the Galaxy Note 20 sports a frosted finish, which should do a better job at keeping fingerprint marks and smudges at bay. The new Mystic Red shade of the Galaxy Note 20 joins the existing color palette that includes three options – Mystic Bronze, Mystic Green, and Mystic Gray.

Samsung has also introduced a new color option for its clamshell foldable phone – the Galaxy Z Flip 5G – and is calling it Mystic White. This one has an almost pearl white finish that takes some inspiration from the Mystic White shade of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. To recall, Samsung has been selling the Galaxy Z Flip 5G in only two color options so far – Mystic Bronze and Mystic Gray.

Christmas came early for Samsung!

The Galaxy Note 20 5G in Mystic Red and Galaxy Z Flip 5G in Mystic White will be up for grabs starting 12:01 am ET November 30 via Samsung’s official online store. However, Samsung is yet to detail the availability of these new color options via other third-party outlets.

As of now, buyers can avail an instant rebate of $150 when they purchase the Galaxy Note 20 and can also get $550 as a trade-in value. Plus, you also get a $100 voucher that can be used towards the purchase of accessories. Coming to the Galaxy Z Flip 5G, customers can save up to $1000 on the foldable phone’s purchase with an eligible trade-in offer. You can also check out other attractive Cyber Monday offers on devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 2 and the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra on the Samsung store.

Next-gen AirPods Pro will reportedly arrive in the second half of 2021

It’s been a while since the AirPods Pro were announced and it looks like we might not have to wait too long for a refresh, kind of. According to a new DigiTimes report, production for the new AirPods Pro will be handled by Inventec Appliances, Luxshare and others in Vietnam and they would enter mass production in the first half of 2021 to launch in the second half. This means that they will most likely align with Apple’s October launch cycle, so we could get these with the iPhone 13 line up. Other rumors hint to these AirPods bringing Light Sensors to enable some new health monitoring features.

We could get BOE displays in the Huawei Mate 40, Samsung and LG panels in the Mate 40 Pro

We haven’t really talked about the Mate 40 series for this year and now we have some rumors for the displays. According to a new report from the Elec, the regular Mate 40 will be rocking a BOE display while Samsung and LG will provide the OLED panels for the Mate 40 Pro. The report mentions that these new panels will have a touch sensitive layer embedded in the display panel, allowing for better mechanical and optical properties. According to a tipster on Twitter, the regular Mate 40 will have a curved display with a single selfie camera while the Pro will have a waterfall display with a pill-shaped punch hole housing two selfie cameras. We’ll keep you posted once rumors start ramping up.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 brings Snapdragon 865+ and triple rear cameras in a more refined form factor

ASUS just made it official, they announced the ROG Phone 3 and yes, this is still a beast. It brings a 6.59in FHD+ AMOLED display running at 144Hz with 270Hz sampling rate. It’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+ and it starts with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, going all the way up to 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It packs a crazy 6000 mAh battery, which supports 30W fast charging and it brings improved internal cooling when compared to the last model. The design didn’t change too much from the last model, it still brings the RGB logo which can change color for notifications, and you still get 4 shoulder buttons that serve as triggers for a more immersive gaming experience. The cameras however are getting some major improvements, now we have a triple camera array that consists of a 64MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra wide and a 5MP macro camera, you also get a 24MP selfie shooter. This phone starts at €799 and goes all the way up to €1099. They are also renewing their accessories and it actually comes bundled with an external cooler.

Apple’s 2022 iPhone might come equipped with a periscope telephoto camera

We have some new predictions from Ming Chi Kuo on what to expect for the future iPhone cameras. According to the report, Semco and Sonny Optical which are the best Korean and Chinese lens manufacturers will enter Apple’s Supply Chain for the second half of 2020 and for 2021. While the consumer doesn’t really care about supply chain, the outcome is for the best as Kuo believes that Semco will provide periscope lenses for Apple but, the catch is that this will be for the 2022 iPhones. The report also mentions that Apple has been filing patents related to periscope lenses since 2016, like the one you’re looking at right now. According to this patent Apple would use a “folded telephoto camera lens system” which would absorb light through the primary lens, have it bounce off the periscope mirror and then it would be sent to the second lens which will move up and down for the zooming.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 are expected to go official at the Galaxy Unpacked event on August 5.
