Microsoft shaves up to $430 off Surface Pro 4 bundles, $400 off Surface Book for Christmas

Admit it, you procrastinated and waited so long for the perfect holiday tech deal that you’re now suddenly running out of time to get your special someone an impressive gift earning you unlimited free passes for guys’ nights out and forgotten anniversaries in the new year.

The good news is it’s still not too late. But obviously, it will be soon enough, so you may want to order something off Microsoft’s “Holiday Super Sale” inventory ASAP. Yesterday would be a great time to complete your last-minute Christmas present/bargain hunt.

Now, we know what you’re thinking. How in the world is a $1,300 Surface Pro 4 a bargain? Well, it’s the Intel Core i7/256GB SSD/8GB RAM configuration you’re looking at here, bundled with a black Type Cover keyboard.

Normally, the versatile and super-powerful tablet/laptop hybrid package costs a whopping $430 more, so yeah, despite the extravagant price tag, this is a solid last-minute holiday deal. The same goes for a few other Surface Pro 4 variants combined with Type Covers, featuring 16GB RAM, Core i7 processing muscle and between 256GB and 1TB solid state storage, themselves discounted by a cool $429.99 off list each.

Then you have the even beefier and costlier Surface Book convertible laptop, available starting at $1,300 (down from $1,500), and with up to $400 savings in a trio of ultra-high-end versions. Don’t forget about renewed $450 Acer Liquid Jade Primo and $650 HP Elite x3 bundle offers either, or the crazy affordable $100 AT&T Microsoft Lumia 640 XL Windows 10-ready phone.

Microsoft fully previews ’12 Days of Deals’ on Surface Pro 4, VR headsets, and more

Why not give your loved one a Surface Pro 4 convertible tablet instead of four calling birds on the fourth day of Christmas this year? How about an HTC Vive or Oculus Rift VR headset on the ninth day in lieu of nine ladies who might need a bit of convincing to randomly start dancing and impress that special someone?

If you can’t afford to spend between $600 and $800, the US Microsoft Store will also have you covered with ultra-low-cost Windows laptops, tablets, Xbox games and controllers during the 2016 “12 Days of Deals” celebrations.

Very shortly after wrapping up the Black Friday and Cyber Monday discount bash, Redmond will roll out new and old daily special offers starting Monday, December 5. But our mobile-focused readers may find the December 8 and 16 deals the most compelling of the bunch, with the Surface Pro 4 first sold at $250 off list in an entry-level Core m3 configuration, and then including up to $359 savings, presumably in higher-end variants.

It’s worth highlighting the former $649 bargain shall also fetch you a free sleeve, while the latter sounds awfully similar to a Best Buy Cyber Week promo still up for grabs right now.

You probably don’t want to ignore Microsoft’s “up to 70%” savings on “select Windows 10 tablets” either, coming December 9, or December 13’s refreshed $100 gift code deal with HTC Vive or Oculus Rift purchases.

The Lenovo Miix 520 is another looming Surface Pro 4 contender with Kaby Lake inside

The biggest threats for the 2-in-1 Surface Pro tablet family may come from inside the growing Windows 10 convertible ecosystem if Microsoft keeps holding back the inevitable Intel Kaby Lake fifth-generation upgrade.

Lenovo is apparently working on not one, but two different Miix designs to possibly follow in the 510’s footsteps as early as CES 2017 in January, including the just-leaked Miix 520 configuration.

This doesn’t sound like a major step forward, and overall, it strongly resembles its predecessor on the outside. Under the hood, though, you’ll reportedly get to choose between Intel Core i3-7006U, i3-7100U, i5-7200U and i5-7500U processors of the seventh-gen Kaby Lake derivation, ranging in clock speeds from 2.0 to 2.7GHz.

Then there will be up to a whopping 16GB RAM to handle even the most demanding multitasking requirements, as much as 1TB of solid state storage, 41 Wh battery capacity, passive cooling abilities, and believe it or not, a pair of 8 + 2MP cameras slapped to the 12-incher’s back.

What for? Augmented reality, we presume, but that’s all we can tell you at the moment. Otherwise, the Lenovo Miix 520 is indeed not very different from the 510, with the same adjustable watchband hinges in tow, optional keyboard cover, active stylus, Full HD screen resolution, and super-premium magnesium-aluminum alloy construction. No words on pricing yet, but fingers crossed the entry-level SKU shall cost no more than $700.

Microsoft will shave up to $430 off Surface Pro 4, $400 off Surface Book this Black Friday

Still a little disenchanted you won’t be able to purchase even a lightly revised Surface Pro 5 with one of those fancy new Intel Kaby Lake processors inside for the holidays? How about the refreshed Surface Book with Performance Base? We’re guessing that one strikes your fancy, but simply feels too darn expensive.

Well, the “first-gen” models are definitely not too shabby, despite their somewhat advanced age, and at the right price, we bet you won’t give Kaby Lake or the battery life-enhancing “Performance Base” a second thought on Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen in love with Microsoft’s in-house convertible Windows 10 tablet/laptop designs, there are big discounts coming on “select” Surface Book and Pro 4 configurations.

Between November 24 and 28, the higher-end, higher-res, more “professional” 13.5-incher shall cost $1499 instead of $1899 with Core i5 Skylake power, a 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and discrete dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GPU, while a 128GB i5 Surface Book featuring integrated graphics is to set you back $1249 after a $250 markdown across Redmond’s “full retail channel.”

As for the 12.3-inch Surface Pro 4, you’ll be able to save a whopping $430 on a 256GB i5 8GB variant bundled with a black type cover, or $200 off the list price of a 128GB i5 4GB config. That’s in addition to what third-party sellers like Best Buy have up their sleeves, and other Microsoft-direct Black Friday deals on the Xbox One S, Lumia 950, 950 XL and numerous Windows 10 PCs.

Newegg jumps on Black Friday preview bandwagon with a number of enticing mobile deals

Not a big fan of computer hardware and software anymore? Not a problem, as Newegg also sells smartphones, tablets and intelligent wearable products at pretty great prices these days. More so around the holidays, of course, with the e-tailer’s Black Friday 2016 deal extravaganza detailed on the heels of similar Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, Target and Staples reveals.

Interested in a $250 ZTE Axon 7 Mini, $180 Asus ZenFone 3 Laser or perhaps an age-old, never-cheaper $180 32GB Apple iPad 4, but not really looking forward to spend the day (or night) after Thanksgiving furiously refreshing Newegg’s overloaded home webpage?

No need to wait so very long, as discounts will in fact be valid from next Monday, November 21, all the way through Saturday, November 26, at 11:59 pm PT. Quantities are obviously limited, though, and “subject to availability”, so be sure you check the Huawei Watch at $200 and up, or $220 ZTE Axon Pro off your shopping list as early as possible.

Windows convertible enthusiasts can opt for a $799 Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with Core i5, 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD or $470 i5 Surface Pro 3, while cash-strapped Android phone buyers have a $150 non-Pro original Axon and $200 Asus ZenFone Zoom to compare and contrast. Last but not least, the $350 Honor 8 will apparently come bearing “exclusive gifts.”
