With the launch of the Galaxy S5 Active, the GS5′s family of closely related smartphones is finally starting to get fleshed-out. The Galaxy K zoom really got us going, since for all intents and purposes it’s a GS5 Zoom, but the Active is at least the first of these spin-offs to maintain the GS5 branding. What about a GS5 Mini to go with it? We’ve been seeing more ...
It’s hard to predict if we’re still months away from the iPhone 6 launch, or if we’re just a couple of days away from it. WWDC is right around the corner, and we’re already seeing that we’ll definitely get a glimpse of iOS 8 at the event through recent leaks. The question is, are we getting a new iPhone? Leaked photos already show some progress in the design. We get some leaked photos of the iPhone 6 back, and contrary to previous leaks, ...
Late last spring, on the first day of WWDC 2013, Apple introduced the world to iOS 7. In the months that followed, we saw the platform get its public release, and eventually Apple delivered a number of software updates, bringing us up to the 7.1.1 we find ourselves with today. More recently, though, our attentions have been focused less on the next 7.x update, and looking out to the future, as rumors and leaks attempted to detail what we might expect from iOS 8.
The mobile world moves quickly – probably faster than just about any other industry in the world.New devices are announced on what feels like a weekly basis; perpetual software updates are hitting for the hundreds of mobile devices; one-off press events are always happening; and while phones seem to have a longer life span than they did back in, say, 2010, they still become antiques in what feels like no time.Back in September, I went on a nostalgia binge and did a throwback review for one of my favorite mobile devices of all time: the

By contrast, we’re used to smartphones being fully manufactured before they’re imported into the country. We had our concerns that employing a US workforce might drive the phone’s cost up, but not only did the Moto X end up being one of the most affordable, best values around, but

Samsung’s release of its Gear 2 models earlier this year didn’t just signal that Samsung was crazy for wearables, not even waiting six months to launch its second-gen models, but marked a larger milestone: shifting a family that started off running Android over to Tizen. For while that first Galaxy Gear was Android at its core, the Gear 2 and its kin were powered by Samsung’s pet OS. We’ve still yet to see Samsung push Tizen into a ...
