Samsung to launch Galaxy Buds refresh with noise cancellation alongside Galaxy S21

Samsung has been launching true wireless earbuds with each new flagship smartphone series for the past couple of years, dating back to 2018 when it launched the Gear Icon X. It appears that Samsung will continue the trend when it launches the Galaxy S21 series early next year. As per a SamMobile report, Samsung is planning a successor to the Galaxy Buds+ that will debut at the next Galaxy Unpacked event for the Galaxy S21 family’s debut that will reportedly be held in January

Notably, the new Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds will come with two major improvements – ANC and an improved ambient mode. To recall, the first-gen Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+, both miss out on Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which was a major disappointment since a host of other brands offered earbuds with ANC around the same price point. Samsung is reportedly going to address that shortcoming with its next true wireless earbuds.

Improved ambient mode and ANC, finally!

The Galaxy Buds+ successor is expected to rock the same in-ear design, which is good news, as that approach blocks the ear-canal more effectively to provide a batter noise cancellation experience. The bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live also offer ANC, but many users pointed out that their cancellation is not up to the mark, primarily due to the half in-ear design. While Samsung’s approach was novel and the Galaxy Buds Live delivered on many other parameters, their design proved to be an undoing for their noise cancellation prowess.

SamMobile’s report also adds that the new Galaxy Buds series earbuds will also offer an improved ambient mode. In case you’re unfamiliar, ambient or awareness mode allows the passage of external sounds through the earbuds, ensuring that users are aware of what’s happening in their surroundings. However, it is unclear how much they will cost, and if Samsung is going to refresh the color palette this time around.

As part of the Black Friday festive deals, the OnePlus 7T is down to just $299.99 for T-Mobile customers. And hey, you can choose between cool Frosted Silver and Glacier Blue color options, in case you were wondering. From my personal experience with the device, I can assure you that the OnePlus 7T was already a great device at its original asking price, but at just $300, it offers the best hardware that you can get on any smartphone under this price bracket.

                                          OnePlus 7T
The OnePlus 7T offers you Qualcomm’s top-tier processor from 2019, a beautiful 90Hz display, reliable cameras and blazing fast 30W charging. Usually up grabs at $600, the phone can be yours right now for just $299.99 this festive season.

In case you want a factory unlocked unit, you can still save $200 on its street price and still get it for a sweet $400, which is still great for what is on the table. For that asking price, you get a 90Hz HDR10+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855 Plus running the show, a triple rear camera setup (48MP primary + 12MP telephoto and 16MP ultra-wide) and a 3,800mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. On top of it all, you get an assurance of timely updates and a great UI experience with Oxygen OS.

Apple’s new MacBook Air with M1 silicon is already $100 off this Black Friday

Ever since its debut earlier this month, the new MacBook Air with Apple’s own M1 silicon has received stellar reviews for the performance boost it brings to the table. Pocketnow’s own Jaime Rivera has been mighty impressed with the performance of this fanless machine, especially when it comes to demanding tasks such as exporting high-resolution videos. For all that firepower, many industry experts called it a great purchase at $999. But if you’ve been holding on for a price cut, B&H has already taken a sweet 10% off the device’s usual price, despite it being barely over a month old.

At the moment of writing this, the base configuration of the MacBook Air with 8 gigs of RAM, 256GB of onboard storage, and the M1 silicon can be yours for $899. Do keep in mind that the Apple M1 silicon version you get on this base configuration has a 7-core GPU, while the higher-end pricier variant has an 8-core GPU. But the base variant that is currently going on for $899 still offers plenty of processing power that can handle anything you throw at it with ease.

                                            MacBook Air with M1 silicon
The new MacBook Air with the M1 silicon has set a new standard for performance that is way higher than what an Intel-powered Mac can offer. And with a $100 discount at B&H that brings its price down to just $899, you should definitely get this as your next machine.

As for the rest of the package, you get a 13.3-inch Retina display (2560×1600 pixels, the M1 chip handling things under the hood, 8 gigs of RAM, and 256GB of onboard storage. The biggest improvement is in the battery department, with Apple claiming up to 15 hours of web browsing and 18 hours of movie playback. Apple has also upgraded the Type-C Thunderbolt port to USB 4.0 standard, of which there are two on the device. The design remains the same as the Intel-powered MacBook Air, but Apple has removed the internal fan for more silent operation.

Read this Twitter thread by Pocketnow’s Jaime Rivera highlighting the insane power of the M1 MacBook Air and decide for yourself:

In August, Sony launched the successor to its acclaimed WH-1000XM3 noise-canceling headphones. The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones were unveiled with a price tag of $350. Now, on the occasion of Black Friday, the device has received a price cut of 21%, which has brought the price down to $278. Sony has kept the design of WH-1000XM4 the same, but the company has made a host of changes. The new headphones use a new Bluetooth SoC that senses noise at over 700 times per second for more effective noise cancellation. Plus, the Edge-AI employs DSEE Extreme to rebuild “audio lost during digital compression for a full-fidelity experience.” These also bring 360 Reality Audio for a more immersive sound experience when paired with a smartphone.

The headphones come with a “speak-to-chat” feature that automatically pauses the music playback and allows in the ambient sound as soon as uses speakers speak something, letting them have a conversation. There’s a “Quick Attention” feature that lets users put their right hand over the earcup to decrease the volume and let in ambient sound. These also come with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa onboard.

The Sony WH-1000XM4 also include multi-device pairing that lets them connect with two devices at once and automatically pick the right device that is ringing. Users also get a one-tap device switching convenience. These can deliver 30 hours of battery life, while charging them for 10 minutes can give you 5 hours of playback.

Motorola introduced a clamshell foldable smartphone with nostalgic design and called it the RAZR. The company introduced its successor, the Razr 5G this year for around $1400. While the design mostly remains the same, it is a much more refined smartphone. The Motorola RAZR’s boxy design has been translated to curved glass at the rear, and aircraft-grade aluminum. Now, it is selling for $400 less! You can purchase the Motorola Razr 5G for $1000.

The RAZR 5G features a unique design that actually makes it feel like a clamshell instead of a regular phone with a hinge. It features a 6.2-inch plastic OLED (2,142×876 pixels) with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The crease is something you wouldn’t notice unless you happen to run your hand over it. There is a 2.7-inch secondary display. This not only saves you the effort to flip open the smartphone but also saves battery. The ease of checking notifications while sitting in a cafe with friends that you get here is priceless.

                                            Motorola Razr 5G

The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, paired with Adreno 620 GPU. It comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage with 8GB RAM. In my two-day usage, I didn’t come across any lags. The UI is smooth as ever, and works very well. In the optics department, the Motorola RAZR 5G sports a single rear camera of 48MP with f/1.7 aperture. Camera features include OIS, laser autofocus, and Quad Pixel technology for better low-light sensitivity. It can be used to click selfies as well.

The clamshell foldable packs a 2,800mAh battery with support for 18W TurboPower fast charging. I can safely say that it lasted an entire day for me on normal usage.

OnePlus 8 Pro was the first flagship of the brand in 2020. The device was launched at $899 for the base variant and went up to $1000 for the 256 gigs model. Now, the latter is selling at a discount of $200, which translates to an all-time low of $800.

The OnePlus 8 Pro features a 6.78-inch big Fluid AMOLED display, which has a 3168 x 1440 pixel resolution at 513 PPI. It comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and 19.8:9 aspect ratio. It is covered with 3D Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, paired with X55 5G modem. It comes with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage.

To review the gaming performance, I played Asphalt 9, COD Mobile, and PUBG Mobile on my OnePlus 8 Pro review unit. It runs the games at the highest graphics settings with no issues whatsoever. It ran PUBG at HDR graphics and Extreme framerates. The gaming experience was one of the best on an Android phone, thanks to the hardware prowess and 240Hz touch sampling rate, which makes everything seem swift.

                                            OnePlus 8 Pro

On the optics front, it sports a quad rear camera setup: a 48MP Sony IMX689 sensor with f/1.78 aperture and OIS + an 8MP telephoto lens with 3x hybrid zoom, an f/2.44 aperture, and OIS + a 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens with 120-degree field-of-view and an f/2.2 aperture + a 5MP color filter lens. The smartphone packs a 4,510mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging both wired and wireless. It gave me 6-7 hours of screen-on time while on QHD+ resolution at 120Hz refresh rate. You can extend the battery life by changing the resolution.

The OnePlus 8 Pro has a gorgeous display, good battery life, a decent set of cameras and fluid performance. It is a sweet deal for $800 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. Go grab it!

Steal deal: Sennheiser HD450BT headphones are 50% off!

The Sennheiser HD 450BT were launched above $200. Soon after, they were selling for $199.99 and then $150 (sometimes). Now, on the occasion of Black Friday, the wireless Bluetooth headphones have gone down to $99.99! That’s straight 50% off on one of the best sounding headphones in the segment. This is a steal deal!

These headphones offer necessities from active noise cancellation to terrific battery life and good sound quality. They feature an all-plastic build but do not feel cheap. The plastic is smooth and condensed. Further, the Sennheiser HD 450BT weigh only 238 grams. I wore them for a stretch of three hours straight without feeling the need to take them off. The clamping force is tight enough without becoming uncomfortable.

                                            Sennheiser HD 450BT

The Sennheiser HD 450BT supports SBC, AAC, APTx, and APTx-LL, which helps lower the latency that at times wireless headphones suffer. I had no latency problems while watching videos on Netflix, YouTube, or Prime. Further, connection stability is good and I was able to listen to music while doing the dishes when my phone was kept in the other room 15 meters away.

The Sennheiser HD 450BT feature ANC, which is uncommon for a headphone priced under $150.

The sound performance is smooth, detailed, and the instruments don’t get lost in the mix. The Sennheiser HD 450BT feature ANC, which is uncommon for a headphone priced under $150 (you are now getting it for $99.99). Moreover, it can deliver up to 30 hours of playback time with ANC-on on a single charge. The battery life on these is excellent. It takes about two hours to charge from zero to full.

With up-to-date tech like Bluetooth 5.0, APTx-LL, USB Type-C, and excellent battery life, good sound quality, and above-average ANC, the Sennheiser HD 450BT are an excellent deal for $100! Go grab them.

Samsung may have revealed what we’re getting in future Galaxy phones

Samsung was one of the first companies to step into the foldable phone market. Indeed, the devices are far from being perfect, and they still have a long way to go before they become the standard, but we can’t deny that they’re fantastic, and deep inside, we all wish we could have one in our pockets. Whatever the case, the South Korean tech giant is constantly working to improve, to deliver some of the best foldable devices available, and its display division has recently teased what could be the future of Samsung’s foldable phones.

Samsung Display has recently posted a couple of images that give us an idea of future foldable Galaxy devices. Renderings show us a phone with a triple folding panel that would easily transform into a tablet. Now, rumors have also mentioned that Samsung is working to make this idea a real working device. We also know that the company has several patents for tri-fold display panels, so we may get to see it in a not so distant future.

The second rendering shows what could be a new device with a rollable display, which doesn’t seem so crazy after the latest rumors of rollable devices from more than one company. However, this design seems to leave the rectangular phone design behind, and it would opt for a cylindrical stick from which a display would roll out. The best part is that Samsung has also been working on this idea, and it also possesses some patents that may also become real in the future.

We are also expecting changes in Samsung’s flagship devices next year, as the Galaxy Note series may disappear, and in its place, we could get a Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra and a Galaxy Z Fold 3 with stylus support, as well as a new device that could feature a rollable display.
