Sony introduces Xperia M mid-range Android phone

In all the sea of announcements from Computex, today Sony introduces Xperia M Android phone. It is a mid-ranger which will also be available in a dual-SIM setup, as the Xperia M dual. New rules allow Canadian phone unlocks, nix termination fees after two years

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission has unveiled a new code of conduct which will come into effect as of December 2, 2013, bringing some important changes. According to the new text Canadian phone unlocks will be possible after 90 days, or, if the device has been purchased in full, immediately. Another important provision refers to contract termination fees. Subscribers will be able terminate their contracts after two years, even if the contracted period is longer, without any cancellation fees. Smartphone OS marketshare April update: Android dominates, iOS grows, Windows Phone passes 5% threshold

The latest smartphone OS marketshare numbers are in from Kantar and they refer to the three-month period that ended in April 2013. Google’s Android is still leading the chart of OS percentage share of smartphone sales, with its 51.7%, up from 50.3% in the same period ending in April last year. However, it’s growth is much slower than the one at which iOS is trending, up from 39.1% last year to 41.4% this April.
