HUAWEI considers sellings its P and Mate flagship phone brands: Report

Moving on to Huawei, the company has been doing some interesting moves in order for their US ban to continue affecting the successful mobile business they had. Recently the company sold their HONOR brand which, actually means that Honor can now launch phones with Google Mobile Services. Now, there’s a weird conflicting report from Reuters claiming that Huawei has been in talks to sell their P and Mate Series to a consortium of buyers. Apparently this is another government-backed consortium of investments firms from Shanghai and the talks have been going on for weeks, as Huawei is claimed to have started to internally explore the possibility of selling their brands as early as September. Now the conflicting twist is that Huawei themselves have refuted the report. They put out a statement saying that they have “learned of some rumors regarding the possible sale of their flagship brands, and they said that there is no merit to these rumors whatsoever. Huawei has no such plan”. The reason why we’re still covering this is because, something similar happened to Honor as it was tipped that the company was selling it, Huawei said it wasn’t, and we know how the story ended. So yeah, at the moment, the Mate and P Series are still huge in China but what the future holds is yet to be seen.

Samsung and Apple’s upcoming smartwatches might allow blood glucose monitoring

Let’s talk about Smart Watches for both Apple and Samsung as, it looks like both companies are looking to push new health-centric features in 2021. So far we’ve seen ECG, blood pressure measurements, blood oxygenation and more. Not all are entirely accurate, but they’re there. Now, it looks like the next big upgrade will be blood sugar or glucose measurement. According to an ETNews report, the Galaxy Watch Active 3 will employ a non-invasive technology to take your glucose level measurements, while using an optical sensor. When it comes to Cupertino, they will reportedly be using the same technology to offer this feature, and they have apparently filed the patents and they are doing testing for the accuracy and efficiency for the blood sugar monitor. This technology was showed off at CES by a Japanese company, and bringing it to the mainstream is good for everybody at the end of the day.

Sony will revive the Xperia Compact phone in 2021, and here’s how it looks

Now let’s talk compact smartphones. The iPhone 12 mini was an interesting experiment, but we’ve been hearing that they slowed down production to boost the Pros which have been doing far better. Now if you remember, Apple didn’t pioneer this market. It was Sony, and it seems the compact is making a comeback. We have some new renders from OnLeaks of an Xperia Compact. According to these renders, this phone brings a 5.5in display with a waterdrop notch and somewhat of a thick chin at the bottom. When it comes to the cameras, it’ll reportedly bring a dual module at the back with one of them being a 13MP sensor. Also, it’ll bring a dedicated camera shutter button, a headphone jack and the fingerprint sensor comes embedded in the power button. OnLeaks mentions that the phone will be a tad bigger than the iPhone 12 mini, even if the displays will be of almost the same size and it also looks like this is more of a mid-ranger when compared to the 12 mini. Imagine that, dedicated camera button and headphone jack on a mini phone.. Seriously how hard can that be?

Apple’s new AirTags could be getting closer to launch

Let’s keep talking about Apple and unreleased wearables, but this time with the ones we’re still waiting for, AirTags. We’ve been waiting for these Tile-like trackers for the longest time, with sources like Jon Prosser claiming that they are ready to go, but Apple has delayed them multiple times due to the pandemic. A couple of weeks ago, Evan Blass posted some pictures of the accessories that will be used to carry around the AirTags, like these Nomad leather keychains as well as a Glasses Holder, for you to be able to track your glasses. Now we have a new image from a tipster on Twitter, showing an AirTag holder allegedly made by Spigen which will be sold on Amazon. This is another keychain with a black design, and you can see the AirTag sticking out in the center. So again, AirTags are Apple’s upcoming trackers which will work like the Galaxy Smart Tags, and according to multiple sources like Ming Chi Kuo, they are set to launch but, we don’t really have a timeline as for when so we’ll just have to wait. It’s just interesting that what matters is not the bare airtag, but instead the accessories that would use them to become smarter.

Story of the day:

Samsung’s Exynos SoC with AMD GPU conquers Apple’s A14 Bionic in leaked benchmarks

And finally for the hottest news today let’s move on to Samsung and your favorite topic, their Exynos processors. I know, bad joke.. But bare with me, it seems this is about to change. A couple of weeks ago now we got the Galaxy S21 Series which comes with the Exynos 2100 in some regions. And in case you haven’t heard, Samsung abandoned their custom CPU cores to use ARM’s design, meaning that the Exynos 2100 can compete with the Snapdragon 888 when it comes to CPU prowess. Not necessarily the same story on graphics though, but that’s about to change. Samsung is partnering with AMD to power the next generation of Exynos chips and these may come sooner than expected to the market. A Korean publication allegedly has some benchmarks of Samsung’s unnamed new chips which should debut in 2022. Now, we should take these with a big grain of salt as, they didn’t provide any screenshots but, according to these numbers, the A14 Bionic should be scared. In the Manhattan benchmark it beat it by 60 frames at 181.8 fps, in the normal Aztec ruins it beat it by almost 60 frames again, and in high Aztec Ruins it still beat it by 28 fps. And we know, this is Apple’s processor for last year and we should expect some upgrades from the A15 but guys, this is Exynos we’re talking here. This could solve everyone’s problems with Exynos if AMD and Samsung execute it correctly.

Apple’s new AirTags could be getting closer to launch

It seems that Apple is finally ready to launch its long-awaited AirTags, as accessory makers seem to have stepped up their game. These companies are more than prepared to receive Apple’s new tracking devices, as they have come up with keychains, cases, and more items to keep them protected and close to your personal belongings.

We have been getting tons of rumors concerning the new Apple AirTags, but unfortunately, no official launch date. In the past, we saw patents revealing possible uses for these trackers, but it seems that Apple may have to settle for less, or at least in the beginning. Evan Blass already revealed a couple of AirTags accessories from Nomad, including a keychain made from leather and microfiber that would hold the tracker. A glasses strap, which comes with a rubber tensioner to hold the tracker in place and a premium braided black cord. But the latest leak comes from iMatteo, who posted what may be one of Spigen’s keychain options for the upcoming AirTags.

Earlier this month, we also received word from Ming-Chi Kuo claiming that we could expect the AirTags to launch sometime in 2021, as they would be part of a new series of Apple devices that allegedly include a new AR device. Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that we will also get an M1-powered 16-inch MacBook Pro refresh, a new 14-inch MacBook Pro, and a new iPad Pro with the mini-LED display.

Now, 2021 has just started, and there’s a long way to go. Still, we hope to see the new AirTags soon, as Apple is already preparing some of its apps to support these new devices. A clear example would be the recent discovery of a hidden ‘Items’ tab in the Find My app, which is expected to manage the upcoming object trackers.

Apple’s Find My app gives yet another hint at the imminent arrival of AirTags

Apple’s AirTags object tracker has been a persistent fodder for rumors in the tech industry for a while now, and they are heavily anticipated to finally debut in 2021. While an official launch date is still a mystery, users continue to spot mentions about how the tracking device will operate via the Find My app. The latest discovery (via Macrumors) shows a hidden ‘Items’ tab in the aforementioned app for managing the object tracker.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts AirTags might finally arrive in 2021

The hidden ‘Items’ tab for keeping an aye on the AirTags can be accessed in the Find My app on an iPhone or iPad by typing this command “findmy://items” in the Safari browser. However, it only works on devices running iOS 14.3 and iPadOS 14.3 or a higher version. Once you hit the go button in the URL bar after typing the aforementioned command, users will automatically be redirected to the Items tab in the Find My app. This trick also works on machines running macOS 11.1 and shows the hidden tab in Find My app after being redirected from Safari browser.

However, it must be noted that the Items tab can also be enabled on an iPhone by accessing the developer settings, reports MacRumors. But do keep in mind that doing so requires iOS 14.4 or a later build on the phone. AirTags will reportedly function in multiple modes such as a ‘normal mode’ for saving battery and a ‘lost mode’ that is triggered when the object being tracked loses connectivity with the AirTags, alerting users that it has been lost or misplaced. Additionally, they are also said to be capable of tracking full-body motion and monitoring body posture.

Apple might equip AirTags with UWB for more accurate location tracking

Noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted earlier this month that the AirTags could finally see the light of the day in 2021. Rumors also suggest that the AirTags could be offered in two sizes, but that’s just about it. In case you’re wondering how they look, leakster Jon Prosser a few alleged 3D renders of the AirTags that show them rocking a white, disc-shaped profile with no branding on the front and polished metal at the back. Apple will reportedly employ UWB technology for accurate location tracking by equipping the AirTags with its in-house U1 chip.

Apple could finally launch AirTags and a new augmented reality device in 2021

A new research note from well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shares some light about what we may get from Apple in 2021. And we’re not just talking about the iPhone 13, new iPads or Macs, but new products altogether, as it seems that the long-awaited AirTags may finally be ready to launch in 2021, as well as a new AR device.

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple could have everything ready to launch its new AirTags in 2021. These new devices are expected to work as Tile’s Bluetooth tracker devices, and they would help us find our keys, wallets, backpacks, and more. These trackers would also notify users on their Apple devices when one of their items goes out of range. Now, these new Apple AirTags are also expected to be managed through a future Items tag in the Find My app, which will also help you find your items in case you have misplaced your stuff.

Apple seems to be also working on a new augmented reality device. The rumors mention a new AR headset or glasses, but Mr. Kuo didn’t expand on the subject. However, he did mention Apple’s plans to release new AirPods, which could arrive in two different sizes. He also believes that we will get new Apple Silicon Macs and the first iPads with mini-LED displays.

Rumors of a new 12.9-inch iPad Pro with mini-LED displays have been coming for quite a while now, and some even believed that Apple could’ve even managed to launch them late in 2020. Still, the ongoing pandemic has seriously affected the company’s possible launch dates.

Whatever the case, we are also expecting a new 14-inch MacBook Pro and a 16-inch MacBook Pro refresh, both of which would arrive with mini-LED displays in 2021. Ming-Chi Kuo also believes that we may see a new MacBook Air with Apple Silicon and a mini-LED display in 2022, with other products like a 24-inch iMac and a smaller Mac Pro-like desktop in a not so distant future.

Apple’s M1 MacBook Pro, Samsung Galaxy S20 and more on sale today

You know, it’s post-Black Friday and Cyber Monday and deals have kinda slowed down, but you have to admit that the ones that have remained, are still pretty good. Let’s begin once again with the M1 MacBook Pro which is now $100 off, leaving the Space Gray variant for $1200. Now, this time we also have the Silver variant on a discount but it is just a $50 cut, leaving it at $1250. Now, moving on to your new favorites, the Samsung trade-in deals. The Galaxy Note 20 Series is starting at $450 for the regular Note 20. The S20 Series starts at $240 with the S20 FE and it goes all the way up to $790 for the S20 Ultra. The Galaxy Z Flip is available for $450 and the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is still down to a crazy $1000. But then again, all of these deals are trade-ins so you need to have an eligible device but make sure to check them out. Moving on to some cameras, the Panasonic GH5 Mirrorless Camera that I’m using right now is $100 off, leaving it at $1300. We have even more deals on Sony cameras, Sony TVs and Samsung TVs in the links in the description.

Waiting for Apple’s AirTags? Samsung may have you covered with its new Galaxy Smart Tags

Let’s move on to Samsung as it seems that the company has been working simultaneously on a product we’ve only heard for Apple. We’ve all heard the rumors on AirTags, Apple’s Tile-like devices that would work with the Find My app which were rumored to come at their previous event but actually got delayed. Well, it looks like Samsung might beat them to the punch. Back when we got the Note 20, Samsung unveiled a new SmartThings Find feature which kind of works like Apple’s Find My App. Now, according to a new Sam Mobile report, a device named “Galaxy Smart Tag” with a leaked model number was just spotted in Indonesia. And yeah, Samsung has made some poorly implemented trackers in the past which you actually had to pay for, but with all this frenzy of AirTags rumors, it looks like they want to do something similar which actually makes more sense for the consumer. Now let’s see when we should expect them, as hey, we’re technically a month away form the rumored Galaxy Unpacked.

Samsung releases Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update for Galaxy S20 series

Sticking to Samsung, for those of you rocking a Galaxy S20, you might want to check your software updates tab. The company just announced the launch of One UI 3, running Android 11, which is honestly pretty impressive for Samsung,.. I mean, Android 11 launched this year. One UI 3 brings a new refreshed design which they are marketing as more simple and elegant, with visual enhancements to the home screen, lock screen and more. It also brings improved camera capabilities like better autofocus, auto-exposure and more. They’re also teasing extended customization when it comes to sharing images, videos and more. Speaking of the lock screen, the widgets on it are getting a redesign, letting you see more important information without having to unlock the phone. Again, if you have any of the Galaxy S20 devices, it should be rolling out to you at the moment, and it will come to the Note 20 Series in the following weeks. I know, gotta love it when they say weeks, cause that can take a while.

iPhone 12 series plagued with significant battery drain in standby issue

Let’s talk about iPhone 12 issues as, it seems that those LTE and 5G connectivity problems that we reported on yesterday aren’t everything. There’s several complaints of iPhone 12 battery drain during standby going around in the Apple forums. The users reporting this apparently turned 5G off and had little to no background activity going on and noticed from around 10-30% drain charging overnight, something strange for a phone that’s brand new. One of the complaints says that he notices that his “iPhone 12 Pro is draining battery when in idle state, with no background activity at a 4% faster rate when compared to his iPhone 11 Pro. He disabled mobile data to see if it was a 5G thing, but he claims that it didn’t make a difference. He lost 30% battery power in 10 hours overnight, kinda crazy when compared to his iPhone 11 that only lost 5% in the same time.” Apparently he talked to Apple support and the diagnostics revealed no issue, so this could be a software issue. We’ve been using an iPhone 12 and have had no issue, but several other users are having this same problem in the forums.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform details are here

Yesterday was Day 2 of the company’s Tech Summit where we got to learn everything you need to know about the Snapdragon 888 5G, and there’s a huge list of reasons why your next smartphone should be powered by it. This is Qualcomm’s latest flagship processor, which is now built on a more powerful and efficient 5nm process. It implements both flavors of 5G using the new Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon X60 Modem, and the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 to give you enhanced mobile experiences. It comes equipped with the company’s new 6th Generation AI engine, which paired with their new Hexagon 780 processor delivers industry-leading power efficiency in performance of up to 26 Tera-operations per second. That’s three times as much as the previous generation. It also brings the new Kryo 680 CPU which generates a 25% boost in CPU performance and the new Adreno 660 GPU which provides 35% faster graphics when compared to last year. There’s also a major push in the camera department, as Qualcomm’s new Spectra 580 ISP jumps to a Triple Image Signal Processor. This means that it is capable of capturing from three different cameras simultaneously at up to 2.7 gigapixels per second, along with a new low light architecture. It supports things like Rec. 2020 color gamut photo and video capture, up to 10-bit color depth for photo and video as well as HDR HEIF. You now have 8K video at 30fps and Slow-mo 720p video at a crazy 960 fps. It also supports Dolby Vision 4K video at 120fps and HDR 4K video with Portrait Mode which is pretty awesome. Yes, Snapdragon Elite Gaming also takes a boost in responsiveness and game rendering at up to a 30% increase thanks to Variable rate shading as well. Again, this is Qualcomm’s most powerful mobile platform to date and 14 OEMs were announced to adopt it soon, with Xiaomi, OPPO and Realme being some the first. Follow the first link in the description to get even more details on what’s new.

Story of the day:

We could get new Apple products next Tuesday according to AppleCare memo

And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk about Apple again, this time because it seems that One More Thing event we covered, isn’t actually the last thing. The company has been pretty busy this year, they launched 5 iPhones, multiple Macs including the Intel ones we got back in the spring along with iPads and other things. Well, in an internal memo recovered by MacRumors, Apple is informing service providers that they are having AppleCare-related Changes planned for Tuesday, December 8th at approximately 5:30AM PT. To be more specific, Apple has advised their technicians to prepare for new product SKUs, new and updated product descriptions and new and updated product pricing. For some context, Apple has issued nearly identical memos ahead of other *product launches*, the previous one going out after the iPhone 12 event happened. Now, it’s pretty unlikely that Apple is planning an event to happen at 5 in the morning on a Tuesday, please don’t apple, so it looks like this is a silent release. If you think about it, last month L0vetodream tweeted that Apple was giving us a Christmas surprise, but we ignored it because it could’ve been anything. So let’s recap, what leaked products are we missing? AirTags? A new Apple TV? The AirPods Studio? More Macs? Of course this is all speculation but, let us know..

Waiting for Apple’s AirTags? Samsung may have you covered with its new Galaxy Smart Tags

It has been a while since we received the first rumor of Apple working on a new tracking device that would feature the same U1 chip featured in the iPhone 11 lineup. These trackers would be known as AirTags, and rumors also claim that they would arrive in two different sizes, that they would help to pinpoint the exact location of our wallets, keys, bags, and more. However, Cupertino has failed to launch this new tracker, and it seems that Samsung may have figured out a way to beat Apple by launching its new Galaxy Smart Tags in the near future.

We have been waiting for Apple to launch its AirTags for quite a while now, since April 2019, to be exact, and it seems that we will have to wait a bit longer. However, Samsung could beat Apple’s AirTags to the market, as it may be getting ready to deliver a new product that could arrive as the Samsung Galaxy Smart Tags.

“Samsung had unveiled the SmartThings Find feature during the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 series. The company explained how its new app can find compatible Galaxy products with more accuracy. Now, it has been revealed that the South Korean firm could also be working on a Tile-like tracker.
“A new device with the name Galaxy Smart Tag and model number EI-T5300 has been certified by the Indonesian Telecom Certification. Going by its name, it is possible that Samsung is working on an object tracker.”

These new Galaxy Smart Tags would work with Samsung’s Smart Things Find, which was launched over a month ago, to find galaxy devices like phones, earbuds, and more. Now, these would be Samsung’s first trackers, as Samsung started offering the SmartThings tracker back in 2018 for $99. Unfortunately, these are chunky and LTE-based, meaning that they require a SIM card to work and to make things worse, they also include a running cost of $50/year after the first year. They’re still available in case you’re interested, but I believe that we should wait to see the new Galaxy Smart Tags to see if they can indeed compete against Tile trackers before Apple’s AirTags launch.

Pocketnow Daily: New Galaxy S21 Ultra Leaks: Already a BEAST? (video)

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro and more on sale today

The official news today begin with deals and since we’ll be discussing Galaxy S later, you can only expect for those deals to also intensify. Currently the Galaxy S20 Ultra is $200 off, that leaves the entry level variant in Cosmic Black for $1200. Disclaimer, you can buy it but you’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for it to be back in stock. The Galaxy Note 20 is $200 off, leaving it at a more reasonable $800 price tag for the unlocked variant. Finally, the Sony Xperia 1 is $400 off, that leaves the entry level variant for $549 from the original price. We have more deals on the LG G8X ThinQ, the Apple Watch Series 6, iPads and more in the links in the description.

Huawei could be working on a foldable phone with clamshell design

Now let’s talk Huawei as the company has launched two different foldables with the Mate X and the Mate Xs but, the company really hasn’t tried a different form factor. Well, according to a new patent from April, it looks like they’re ready to compete with the Z Flip and the RAZR. This new patent shows a clamshell foldable with a main display and frame that looks pretty similar to the Z Flip with the sort of boxy design and bezels. Really, where the differences kick in is when you close it as, it brings a significantly larger outer display, right next to the dual camera module. Again, the hinge design also looks like the Z Flip but, I think this cover display makes much more sense than the viewfinder we get for the Z Flip, let’s see if Huawei manages to pull this off because it would be cool to see. I think there are certain things that are more important than having a phone fold right now, but we’ll see how that evolves.

Apple to launch AirPods and AirPods Pro upgrade in 1H 2021: Report

Up next is Apple, and this time because we have to admit it’s been a bit since we’ve seen a new pair of AirPods. We were hoping to see something at the past couple of events and that seems delayed. Now we have a new report rom Bloomberg that claims that we’ll get the 3rd Gen AirPods and the 2nd Gen Pros in 2021. The report claims that Apple is working on two new models of the current AirPod line up, meaning this isn’t about the Studios. Apparently the regular ones will be getting redesigned to look more like the Pros with a shorter stem and the replaceable ear tips, but sadly there will be no noise cancellation and “Pro” features. Moving on to the Pros, they’re working on making them more compact, probably by removing the Stem and giving them a more rounded shape, similar to what we get from Samsung. Cupertino is apparently putting a brand new chip in these, and working to improve battery life. Finally, the report mentions we will be getting these in the first half of 2021. You already know me, I hate the first gen AirPods, but actually love the AirPods Pro so I am looking forward to some new ones.

Patents reveal possible uses for Apple’s upcoming AirTags

Speaking of things from Apple that we might be close to, let’s move on to the AirTags. These were heavily rumored before Apple’s iPhone Event but, due to different reasons they did not make the cut. Well, now we have two patent applications filed by Apple for “Wirelessly Locatable Tag” and a “Fastener with a Retention Ring”. The patents reveal that this is a “small, conveniently shaped device that can be attached to objects which features a robust design that ensures reliable use in different conditions and environments.” The design pretty much looks like if the Apple Watch charger was a Tile tag with a metallic disk at the bottom, if that makes sense. The patents also show different usage scenarios, like for AR gaming, to monitor your posture and more by putting it on a watch-like casing. There’s no true way to know if these are specifically for the AirTags but, the similarities are definitely there. LoveToDream also shared that we would be getting these in two sizes, one small and a bigger model. But, finally moving on to some new Jon Prosser tweets, he mentioned that the final Performance Testing for AirTags will finish on November 6th and after this, products usually ship within 30 days. This makes it look like we’ll be getting these at Apple’s November Event which will focus on ARM Macs. Not exactly sure if both products will be related, but it only that November event more interesting.

Two budget OnePlus Nord phones make their way to Europe and North America

Now let’s talk OnePlus. You saw my review of the 8T, there’s a lot to love, but then a lot that’s hard to forgive for the price at least in the US. That said, if you remember the company went back to the mid-range segment earlier this year with the Nord and now, they’re expanding the line up. The company just announced two new phones with the Nord N10 5G and the Nord N100 which will be available in North America and Europe. Let’s start off with the Nord N100 which is the lower end model. It brings a 6.52in display, powered by the Snapdragon 460, as well as 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery. It rocks a triple camera setup at the back which consists of a 13MP main sensor, a 2MP bokeh lens, and a 2MP macro, yay I guess. The good thing is that this phone will go for £179, yeah you heard that right. But, let’s move on to the Nord N10 5G which brings a 6.49in FHD+ display running at 90Hz. It is powered by the Snapdragon 690 SoC which is a 5G chip, along with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage and a 4300 mAh battery. This one brings a quad camera array with a 64MP main lens, an 8MP ultra wide and two 2MP sensors. This one will cost you a crazy £329, and I say crazy because those are some pretty good specs. We still don’t have pricing for North America as well as availability dates so, we’ll keep you posted.

Story of the day:

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra might pack a 108MP camera, 40MP selfie shooter, 5000mAh battery

Samsung Galaxy S21 will arrive with new color options

And finally the hottest news today have to do with stuff from 2021, because it seems Samsung is planning to hit the ground early with either the S21 or S30, whatever that name is going to be. Now, we have a full list of leaked specs for the S21 Ultra from 91Mobiles. According to the, it will bring a 6.8in AMOLED display with 2K resolution, and either running at 120Hz or 144Hz. It’ll be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 875 or their own Exynos 2100 SoC along with a 5000 mAh battery, no word on RAM and storage just yet. Moving on to the cameras, we should be getting an updated version of the 108MP lens, but it doesn’t mention any of the other sensors at the back. However, it does say we’ll be getting a 40MP selfie shooter. According to Ross Young, the color variants for the S21 line will be Gray, Pink, Violet, White, Black and Silver, with some of them being exclusive to certain models. Multiple rumors hint to this phone bringing S Pen support, at least for the Ultra variant. Remember we should be getting these around late January, early February, which is why the leaks are ramping up so quick.

Patents reveal possible uses for Apple’s upcoming AirTags

We keep getting more information concerning Apple’s AirTags. Now we get some information that could help understand possible applications for these devices and include some illustrations that explain how they would work.

We have received some rather interesting information that details the use of the upcoming AirTags. The guys over at Patently Apple found what is taken as a “master patent application from Apple, regarding their future Airtags product” at the US Patent & Trademark Office. This patent mentions more than just two size options, which were previously mentioned by leaker L0vetodream, and it also makes us believe that Apple has great plans for them in the future.

“Apple’s invention is about AirTags, a small, battery-powered tag, puck, or other object of convenient size and shape, that can be physically and/or geographically located using wireless communications systems and techniques. For example, a tag may include an antenna that emits a wireless signal or beacon that is detectable by another electronic device such as an iPhone.

“The tag may include a battery, sensors, a wireless communication system, and one or more output devices that can produce audible and/or haptic outputs. Localization functions may be provided by the wireless communication system, and in particular, by the tag sending wireless signals to other devices (e.g., smartphones, tablet computers, etc.) that analyze the wireless signals to determine the distance, position, location, and/or orientation of the tag with a high degree of accuracy.”

AirTags would also be used in different modes, including a “normal operation mode” that would conserve power and establish momentary or internment communications with other devices to confirm the tag’s location. A “lost mode” would be triggered if there’s an unexpected loss of communication between the tag and one or more devices, which may indicate that the device is not close to the user.

Images also show that the AirTags would also be used on a user body to monitor posture and track full-body motion, which would help control a game or record movement during a workout. Whatever the case, we will still have to wait for the new AirTags to launch, and rumors suggest that they may arrive in a rumored Apple event that may take place on November 17.

Apple is working on two AirPods Studio variants, but they won’t debut next week

A few weeks ago, we got our first look at Apple’s upcoming wireless over-the-ear headphones – rumored to debut as the AirPods Studio. Looking at the renders, I quite liked the minimalist design, which doesn’t deviate much from Apple’s preferred industrial aesthetics language. The AirPods Studio appear to predominantly employ leather and metal, but it appears that the device we saw in the leaked renders was the luxury version of Apple’s upcoming wearable that would command an equally premium price tag. Now, tipster Jon Prosser claims that Apple is also working on a more affordable pair that costs a few hundred dollars less than what you would pay for the luxury version.

Prosser, citing sources, tweeted that the luxury variant of AirPods Studio will be priced at $599. There will also be a “sport-like variant” that would use cheaper materials and will reportedly cost much lower at $350. While the leaked price will dissuade many to scratch the AirPods Studio off their holiday shopping list, they aren’t launching anytime soon. Contrary to what many have been speculating, Prosser claims that the AirPods Studio won’t debut at Apple’s October 13 event that will also be the launch platform for iPhone 12 series.

Another oft-leaked and highly anticipated gadget that won’t be a part of Apple’s launch event next week will be the AirTags, the company’s own Tile-like tracking device. Prosser claims that Apple has pushed back the launch and release of Apple AirTags until March next year

Prosser also dished out some details about the release cycle of the iPhone 12 series, which falls in line with another comprehensive leak that surfaced earlier today. He tweeted that pre-orders for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro will kick off on September 16, and they will hit the shelves on October 23. As for the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, they will ship next month.

Next Apple event would present AirTags, Apple Watch Series 6, and iPhone 12 with LiDAR sensor?

We get new information related to the next Apple event. This time a report from Japanese site Mac Otakara claims that Apple will launch its new iPhone 12 lineup in October, along with other goodies. However, another report claims that the iPhone 12 may once again include a LiDAR sensor.

According to Mac Otakara, the next Apple event will take place in the second half of October. This event will introduce the new iPhone 12 lineup along with the new Apple Watch Series 6. We would also see the long-rumored AirTags, which were supposed to launch along the iPhone SE 2020. This new information goes against what leaker Jon Prosser said when he suggested that the Apple Watch and the new iPads will be released in September via press release. However, Apple has always launched its new Apple Watch along with the iPhone lineup, and we don’t expect things to change anytime soon.

Another report from DigiTimes claims that the new iPhone 12 will arrive with a LiDAR sensor. This Light Detection and Ranging sensor made its first appearance in the 2020 iPad Pro. It can be used to calculate distances by illuminating an object with laser light and measuring the reflection. The data is then used to create accurate 3D representations of objects and environments, which would improve AR experiences. However, the report doesn’t mention which variants of the iPhone 12 will include this sensor. Rumors suggest that it may only come in the 6.7-inch version of the iPhone 12 Pro, while others believe that it may also come in the Pro variant’s 6.1-inch version.
