The Apple Watch SE is presenting overheating issues

It seems that the new Apple Watch SE is the hottest smartwatch on the market, literally. The latest, more affordable version of the Apple Watch is said to be presenting overheating issues after some hours of usage, and it seems that the problems don’t stop there.

Several Apple Watch SE owners have started to report issues with their devices. These complaints have reached Reddit posts from South Korea, where at least six users say that their smartwatches have overheated and then stopped to work correctly. The watches have also shown a yellow spot on the upper right corner of their displays. Some users claim that the issues started appearing while they were wearing the Apple Watch SE, while others say that it started to overheat while charging, and it later presented the display issue.

“The owner received the product on October 8. The owner slept with the watch on the wrist on October 9 night. Woke up on October 10 just to find the wrist is very hot. The owner quickly took off the watch to find the red wrist due to heat. No power signals from the watch, but the sound plays well when the watch is searched with the Find my Watch feature. The owner exchanged the device with a new product on October 16.”

There is no clue as to what may be causing this issue since there hasn’t been a teardown of the Apple Watch SE, but it is believed that the problem could be the display connectors near the Taptic Engine if this Apple Watch has a similar design to prior models. Also, it is not clear as to why this issue seems to be limited to South Korea, as there haven’t been any reports found elsewhere. In other words, this problem may be limited to a specific Apple Watch SE batch manufactured in a particular area, which was then shipped to Korea. However, we will be on the lookout for further reports on social media networks and Apple Support Communities.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 750G chip brings an AI-driven noise supression tech

Now let’s talk about Qualcomm as the company is clearly pushing the premium midrange segment harder than they are their flagships it seems. Qualcomm has been very update as of late, and now they’re updating their 7 Series with a new SoC. This new Snapdragon 750G is an 8nm processor which uses the Kryo 570 core CPU that promises a 20% boost in performance, and the Adreno 619 GPU which offers a 10% boost in graphics. This new processor supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz 6G with the X52 modem, and it comes with the Snapdragon Elite Gaming features bundled. It supports things like 4K HDR video, 192MP images, slow-mo 720p at 240fps, 120Hz FHD+ displays, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and more, with a peak clock speed of 2.2GHz. It will be available by the end of this year, with Xiaomi launching the first phone powered by it.

Xbox Beta app now lets you remotely play Xbox One games on your Android phone for free

Now for our gamers in the audience, let’s talk about the recent moves that Microsoft has been doing, with one in particular. Microsoft just made a big move as they just acquired ZeniMax Media. If you don’t know who ZeniMax Media is, they’re Bethesda’s parent company which should ring a bell. They’re also the parent company for other gaming developing studios like Tango Gameworks, Alpha Dog and more. According to Bloomberg, Microsoft spent around $7.5B for this deal to happen, they’re biggest videogame purchase ever. They released a statement where they said that “they’ll be adding Bethesda’s iconic franchises to Xbox Game Pass, and they’re most excited to see the roadmap with the future games.” Bethesda owns some of the biggest titles in the industry like Fallout, the rebooted Doom titles, Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls and more. They haven’t made any announcements as to any new originals or how they plan to distribute them but it looks like it’s a move to compete against Sony which always had the upper hand when it comes to exclusives. I’m seriously just happy over Wolfenstein, which continues to be one of my favorite games of all time.

AT&T believes iPhone 12 launch may not be a ‘Massive event’

And yes, the whole proximity to TechTober means that we’re getting closer and closer to the iPhone 12 line up so, with hype building up, but not everywhere it seems. AT&T has come out with a report that says that they’re not too hyped about it. According to the company’s CEO of communications, he claims that “he does believe that you will see many of the current iPhone subscribers upgrade their device, but he wouldn’t forecast that it’s going to be a massive event, but of course he wouldn’t call it a nonevent. He thinks that based on the current pressures of the economy, people will make a calculated decision when they buy these new phones, and AT&T is going to be there to offer these Apple devices regardless.” Basically, what he’s trying to say is that with 5G and the added prices, he doesn’t think people will flock to stores to get the new iPhones like it’s happened in prior years, due to the economy but hey, with Apple you never know. What do you guys think will happen? Think this is why the iPhone mini is gonna be the biggest push for the company

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirms a 120Hz display for the upcoming OnePlus 8T

OnePlus 8T 5G European pricing leaked ahead of launch

Yesterday, OnePlus announced that we’ll be getting the 8T on October 14th. Oddly they’re not doing it with the same amount of hype they did with the Nord, which is kind of ironic. Now, we got some official statements from Pete Lau when it comes to this phone’s display. According to Pete himself, this phone will pack a 6.55-inch display running at 120Hz. He also added that they’ll be using a 2.5D flexible display for the first time with this phone. If you didn’t know, a 2.5D flexible panel offers improved light permeability, reaching a maximum brightness of up to 1100 nits. The report also adds that this phone will bring a 91.9% screen to body ratio, the highest of any OnePlus phone. Finally and moving away from the specs, he claims that it will have the highest color accuracy possible across the screen. But enough with promo, let’s move to some leaked price tags which we got yesterday on Twitter. According to this tipster, these prices are exclusive for Europe and, they’re pretty expensive. The entry level variant for the 8T will cost €799 and the added RAM and storage will cost you €899. This is actually cheaper than what we currently got with the 8 but, if you remember last year, the 7T was €100 cheaper than the regular 7, so these leaks might not be too far off. He also claims that his source is very sure of these prices and, we should expect that same number for the US, meaning $799 and $899 as OnePlus doesn’t really change price with different currencies. Too expensive, good price? I think if OnePlus doesn’t bring it down to $699, it’s gonna be a tough race.

Story of the day:

Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G early retail listings reveal the price, storage and color options

And finally the hottest news of the day have to do with new developments when it comes to the Google Pixel 5. Let’s keep on talking about pricing leaks and, this time it’s positive. We’ve gotten several leaks about this phone, like the design and the specs, but we hadn’t gotten a leaked price tag ahead of the September 30th Event. Now, it’s been listed on European retailers, giving us more information on the pricing, color options and storage variants. First we got some screenshots of the listings but, those aren’t too trust worthy, so later on we got a reliable tipster confirming the price tags. According to him, the Pixel 4a 5G will cost €499 and it will come in Black and White variants. The Pixel 5 will cost €629 and will come in Black and Green variants, no panda this year. All of the screenshots from the retailers go along with these price tags so, they’re probably not too far off. Focusing on the Pixel 5, we’re expecting this phone to bring a 6-inch OLED display running at 90Hz, the Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. As well as a dual camera module at the back but it now includes an ultra wide angle lens instead of the telephoto. The 4a 5G will simple be a larger variant of the Pixel 4a, with 5G and a dual camera.

The company just announced their new ISOCELL line up which will be used in their upcoming devices. They announced the 32MP ISOCELL JD1, the 48MP ISCOCELL GM5, the 64MP ISOCELL GW3 and finally, the 108MP ISOCELL HM2 which will most likely make it to the S21. It’s apparently 15% smaller than it’s predecessor, and it brings Super PD which is a faster and more effective phase detection autofocus. It’s capable of 9 in 1 pixel binning and doing 120fps video at 4K. It’ll also allow for 3x lossless zoom and it’ll begin mass production in Q3. Speaking of Q3, another product we’re waiting on is the Galaxy S20 FE, and we have a new leaked price tag from a Slovakian company. According to them the S20 FE will start at €699 and remember, we’re expecting this phone to bring a 6.5in display running at 120Hz, the Snapdragon 865, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We’ll keep you posted as we’re getting really close.

Fitness+ is Apple’s way of helping you get fit

Let’s start today’s Apple talk with the new services they announced today. First off, at a time when working out from home has become a thing, Cupertino just decided to pretty much hit their competitors hard with Apple Fitness+. This is a service which they describe as a new engaging and personalized fitness experience that’s capable thanks to your Apple Watch. Fitness+ gives you different Studio Workouts, like Yoga, Cycling, HIIT and more with Apple’s new trainer team, because yes, they even have trainers for this. It allows you to choose the workout on your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV and will automatically connect to your Watch, showing you your metrics on both displays. Yeah if you’ve seen how the Peloton App works, this is pretty much the same thing. Fitness+ will be available later this year for $9.99 and it supports your family plan for that money, but wait, there’s more. The rumors that Apple was going to consolidate all of its services into one just became true, with Apple One. This basically let’s you pay a fixed rate for a bundle of services instead of paying separately, but not all bundles are created equal. There’s three different tiers, Individual which includes some iCloud storage, Apple Music, Arcade and TV+ for $14.95 a month. Family, which includes Apple Music, TV+, Arcade and more iCloud storage for more users for $19.95. Finally, they also launched Premium, which includes those same four along with more iCloud storage, Apple News, and Fitness+ for $29.95. It will bring a 30 Day free trial and it’ll be available this fall, and guys we already have Spotify complaining about how this will hurt them bad.

This is everything Apple’s new A14 Bionic has to offer

Now, let’s talk about Apple’s brand new chip, the A14 Bionic which will power most of Apple’s devices going forward this year, including the iPhones. This is major, as Apple has just announced the first ever 5nm processor, and it’ll debut on one of its newer iPads. This 5nm architecture means they were able to fit 11.8 Billion transistors into this thing. It brings 6 CPU Cores, divided in 4 high efficiency cores and 2 high power cores. It has 4 GPU Cores with a 30% increase in graphics performance, which theoretically means that any device powered by it will handle graphics nearly two times better than your standard laptop. It features a much faster Neural Engine with this 16-core architecture and takes up to 11 trillion operations per second. To put it simple, this processor accounts for a 40% boost in CPU performance and again, a 30% boost in graphics. According to Apple it makes it easier to edit 4K videos, create art, play immersive games, and at a time when Apple is making a full move into Apple Silicon, this is the first indication that what we saw at WWDC was just the tip of the iceberg.

Apple Watch Series 6 can measure your blood oxygen saturation level and starts at $399

Family Setup: You can now pair your iPhone to multiple Apple Watches

It is official, we have a new Apple Watch SE

Let’s move on to the Apple Watch which actually got some pretty major upgrades today if you think about it. First, they announced the new Series 6. It brings the new S6 processor which is based on the A13 Bionic, 18 hour battery life and Apple’s new U1 chip for short-range wireless location. It brings an enhanced Always On Display, and new features like a Blood Oxygen Sensor and dedicated app, and an Altimeter. They also released a new Apple Watch SE for those of you looking for a more affordable solution. The Watch SE brings somewhat of the Series 4’s design with a display that’s 30% larger than the Series 3, and it features the S5 chip, meaning you still get pretty good performance. It brings some of the features from the Series 6 like the altimeter, gyroscope and fall detection but of course, we have some caveats. No Always-On Display, no ECG and other new features. Now probably the coolest change is this new Family Setup feature, which basically let’s you get an Apple Watch for your kids or other people who don’t have an iPhone. It let’s you use one iPhone to set up the Watch and it then gives you Health and Safety features, like location alerts for your kids and also the fitness tracking. The Apple Watch Series 6 will cost you $399, while the SE will set you back $279. Oh, and did I mention that they won’t bring a charging brick?

Story of the day:

Apple’s 8th Gen iPad brings the power of Neural Engine and is still affordable at $329

New iPad Air brings updated design, A14 Bionic processor, and more

And finally the hottest news today have to do with a few things. The first, iOS 14, iPad OS 14, watchOS 7 are al available today. No word yet on MacOS Big Sur. Also, well, Apple just confirmed the death of charging bricks with an excuse to the environment.. Yup.. That’s a thing, and third is that this year marks 10 years of iPad, so we have serveral new models. First off, they announced the new 8th generation iPad, but well, it’s the same 10.2in Retina Display iPad we got last year with the same design, but now it’s powered by the A12 Bionic which brings the Neural Engine to the entry level iPad. It’ll also cost $329 just like the previous model did but only for 32 gigs, which god even the Apple Watch brings in storage. But, let’s move on to the most interesting upgrade, the iPad Air. Let’s just say it’s almost like the 2018 iPad Pro, but with some improvements and caveats. It now brings an edge-to-edge 10.9in Liquid Retina Display. Sadly it doesn’t bring Face ID but, Apple moved Touch ID to the power button at the top to fit the new display. What’s cool is this is the first device powered by the A14 Bionic, which we discussed earlier, again making it more powerful than standard laptops according to Apple and giving it a major performance boost. It brings a flat back with the same camera design as the older iPad Pros. Speaking of the camera, 7mp selfie shooter and the main shooters is 12MP like the iPad Pro. It now brings USB-C and 20W power that actually comes in the box it seems. It’ll be available tomorrow in 5 different colors for $599 and it’ll support all your usual accessories like the Magic Keyboard and the Apple Pencil 2.

Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE won’t ship with a power adapter

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Apple today introduced a pair of new smartwatches – the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE – during its Time Flies event. The Apple Watch Series 6 is the company’s top-of-the-line offering that introduces a blood oxygen level measurement feature, alongside a host of other advancements and internal upgrades. The Apple Watch SE, on the other hand, is the more affordable offering that packs in all the necessary features into a more compact form factor. Aside from the debut of these new smartwatches, Apple also made another major announcement – a policy of shipping no power adapter in the retail package of these two smartwatches. And possibly, all future Apple smartwatches as well in an attempt to go green and reduce the environmental impact of e-waste.

“Apple is also helping the environment by removing the AC adapter that could become electronic waste from Apple Watch Series 6 packaging, and helping its Apple Watch manufacturing partners transition to renewable energy,” Apple says. As mentioned above, the retail package of both the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE will ship without a power adapter.

But not for all Apple Watch variants

However, it appears that this policy is not applicable on the more expensive models which include the titanium Apple Watch Edition and the Apple Watch Hermès. This anomaly was first spotted by Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. At the time of writing this article, the Apple website still shows a 5W USB Power Adapter in the box contents of the Apple Watch Hermès.

Apple Watch Hermes box contents still show a power adapter on the Apple website

Interestingly, it appears that Apple is getting rid of the in-box power adapter not just for the Apple Watch, but also for iPhones as well. Gurman mentioned in a separate tweet that Apple might stop shipping a power adapter in the retail package of its smartphones. This policy change might be implemented starting with the iPhone 12 series which is expected to debut in a few weeks from now.

However, this isn’t the first time we’re hearing about such a move. Multiple reports emerging over the past few months have claimed that the iPhone 12 series will ship without a power adapter as well as wired headphones. But the reason might be different in this case. Apple is reportedly doing so to reduce the costs of manufacturing the iPhone 12, and not just solely due to environmental concerns.

Apple Time Flies Event: Watch the livestream here

Today is the day. Apple is all set to host its Time Flies event. The name probably signifies that Apple will be launching the Watch Series 6 and iPad Air model. Moreover, it is being speculated that the company might introduce an affordable Watch variant called the Apple Watch SE. However, the company is unlikely to reveal the iPhone 12 series at the event. It will be livestreamed through the dedicated Apple Events site, and will begin at 10 AM PDT / 10:30 PM IST / 1 PM EST. It will also be livestreamed on YouTube. Moreover, you can watch it below:

Apple hasn’t revealed what it will be announcing at the event today. However, it is speculated to launch the Apple Watch Series 6. It is said to have an in-built oxygen meter to measure oxygen levels — alongside offering pulse tracking and heart rate monitoring. So far, we have come across multiple reports claiming that the ability to measure blood oxygen level will finally arrive on the device.

Further, Apple introduced a native sleep tracking feature with watchOS 7, and it will likely make its way to the Apple Watch Series 6. The upcoming devices are likely to pack a bigger battery as well. Further, Apple Watch Series 6 is rumored to combine heart rate and blood oxygen level data to detect if users are hyperventilating and identify if they’re having a panic attack.

An affordable Apple Watch SE will likely be launched as well. It is speculated to come in two sizes – 40mm and 42mm – both of which will be offered in GPS-only and cellular variants. It is tippe to look like Watch Series 4, but it will sacrifice ECG and an always-on display to keep the price in check.

Moreover, Apple is expected to introduce an iPad Air 3 successor. For reference, the device was launched in March last year. The new model could feature a design similar to that of the iPad Pro series. Plus, there are rumors floating around that Apple could launch a new service called Apple One that would offer Apple Music and Apple TV+.

Fresh leak again mentions Apple Watch SE, reveals details of Apple’s upcoming iPads

It’s raining Apple leaks right now. After details about Apple’s upcoming smartwatches emerged earlier this month, prolific tipster Evan Blass aka @evleaks has now revealed more about Apple’s upcoming iPads and the smartwatches – the Apple Watch Series 6 and the Apple Watch SE. Starting with the juicy details first, Blass claims that Apple is about to launch its 4th Gen iPad Air and that it will feature a USB Type-C port, just like the iPad Pro that made its debut earlier this year. The device will be powered by Apple’s new in-house A14 processor, the same chipset that will likely provide the muscle for the iPhone 12 series.

Blass also claims that Apple has lined up an 8th Gen iPad that will draw power from the A12X processor and will feature a Lightning port instead of going for a USB Type-C interface. However, Blass didn’t mention when the two new iPads will be launched. But considering Apple’s release cycle, we expect the two tablets to go official in a few weeks from now. However, there is a small chance that Apple might pull a surprise and unveil the 4th Gen iPad Air and the 8th Gen vanilla iPad at its September 15 event, where the company is expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 6.

Talking about smartwatches, Blass notes that the Apple Watch Series 6 will come in two sizes and will be sold in two versions – Bluetooth-only and a cellular variant. No surprises there. More importantly though, Blass also mentions that an Apple Watch SE will also be launched, and just like the Apple Watch Series 6, it will also be sold in sizes and an equal number of variants based on cellular connectivity. As per a previous leak, the Apple Watch SE will be an affordable offering that will be up for grabs in 40mm and 44mm sizes, and that it is being positioned as a cheaper alternative to the Apple Watch Series 6. You can check ou the upgrades that the Apple Watch Series 6 will bring here.

Here’s the new Apple Watches we’re expecting at Apple’s Time Flies event

Apple has scheduled an event on September 15 – themed ‘Time Flies’ – where the company is expected to launch the Apple Watch Series 6. Notably, the company is also tipped to launch an affordable smartwatch that might eventually debut as the Apple Watch SE, taking cues from the iPhone SE which currently rocks the title of Apple’s affordable iPhone. Being a next-generation upgrade, we expect the Apple Watch Series 6 to offer better performance (duh) courtesy of a new chip, a ton of new features – some of which were announced as part of watchOS 7 – and more fitness-centric capabilities. There have been multiple leaks so far that hint at the upcoming features of the Apple Watch Series 6 and also shed some light on the Apple Watch SE. So, let’s dive right into it:

Blood Oxygen level monitoring

So far, we have come across multiple reports claiming that the ability to measure blood oxygen level will finally arrive with the Apple Watch Series 6. Fitbit and HUAWEI already offer smartwatches that are capable of measuring the oxygen concentration in blood for quite a while, and it is quite likely that Apple has refined the technology and is finally ready to ship it. However, it is unclear if Apple will add new biosensors to the Apple Watch Series 6 or it will rely on the existing heart rate sensor to measure the blood oxygen level, something that was recently spotted by iFixit.

Blood oxygen monitoring will reportedly be offered via a notification system that will alert users whenever the concentration of oxygen in their blood falls in a range that can be a health hazard. This can be a life-saving feature for people who suffer from chronic respiratory or cardiovascular conditions.

Improved sleep tracking

Apple introduced a native sleep tracking feature with watchOS 7, and it will likely make its way to the Apple Watch Series 6. While sleep tracking on its own is helpful, but pairing it with data gathered from the blood oxygen measuring biosensors will give more information about the quality of sleep during different stages of your nap. However, it remains to be seen if an upgraded sleep tracking capability will also make its way to older Apple smartwatches via a software update.

Larger battery

A larger battery would be a more meaningful upgrade for the Apple Watch Series 6, considering it opens the doors for adding more health tracking features to run in the background. Earlier this year, a battery of 303.8mAh capacity was certified by the Korea Testing and Research Institute for an Apple device that was listed in the ‘Fitness’ category. To recall, the Apple Watch Series 5 shipped with a smaller 296mAh battery. The space for fitting a larger battery will reportedly be achieved by removing the Taptic Engine and 3D Touch in favor of haptic touch on the Apple Watch Series.

Panic attack detection

Panic attacks can be quite serious, and I can attest to it after seeing some of my friends go through the harrowing experience. Apple Watch Series 6 is rumored to combine heart rate and blood oxygen level data to detect if users are hyperventilating and identify if they’re having a panic attack. If the smartwatch detects users are at risk, it will ask them to take some rest and will offer some breathing exercises to help calm them down. This capability might also be tweaked to detect stress levels, something we’ve already come across in the smartwatches offered by HUAWEI, Honor, and a few other brands.

Additionally, there have been rumors of improved waterproofing, new watch faces, and even a Touch ID sensor that will be embedded in the crown. However, these rumors come from sources that don’t have a particularly stellar track record with Apple leaks, so do process them with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Apple Watch SE

As per prolific leakster Jon Prossser, an affordable Apple Watch SE will likely be launched as well, and that it will be targeted at masses that want an Apple Watch but don’t necessarily desire all those fancy features which cost a premium on the Apple Watch Series 6. It will reportedly come in two sizes – 40mm and 42mm – both of which will be offered in GPS-only and cellular variants. The design will reportedly be inspired by the Apple Watch Series 4, but it will sacrifice ECG and an always-on display to keep the price in check.

The finally marketing name might be different, but a previous Bloomberg report had also claimed that the upcoming Apple Watch lineup will include “a replacement for the Series 3 that will compete with lower-cost fitness devices such as those from Fitbit.” Details about the pricing are still under the wraps, but rumor suggests that the Apple Watch SE might be priced well under the $299 mark to make it more accessible.
