Black Pearl Galaxy S7 Edge debuts in ‘select markets’, Blue Coral reaches India

Committed to the still-steady high-end Samsung smartphone ship, unwilling to wait until March or even April for the first major Galaxy Note 7 redemption effort, but not sold on the “quality and luxury” radiated by the six existing GS7 Edge color options either?

The world’s enduring champion of handheld sales is giving its chromatic work of keeping the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus at bay one last try today with the official introduction of the “modern and striking” Black Pearl Galaxy S7 Edge.

This joins White Pearl, Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium, Pink Gold and Blue Coral flavors in unnamed “select markets” tomorrow, December 9, most likely starting with Korea. Darker, glossier and arguably more eye-catching than the first black S7 Edge edition, it’s bound to draw comparisons with Jet Black new iPhones, although obviously, not even Apple can patent a coat of paint.

No words on pricing yet, and we don’t know if the US is to be targeted by the “stylish all-black” 5.5-incher anytime soon. It will however definitely come in an exclusive 128GB internal storage configuration.

Meanwhile, the other snazzy Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge limited edition is proving to be less and less limited by the day. After a nationwide US rollout, the Blue Coral phablet is headed for India next week, on December 15, at a “standard” price of Rs. 51,000 ($750).

Verizon battles AT&T for early Blue Coral Galaxy S7 Edge delivery

Just because the snazzy Blue Coral Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge first leaked out with Verizon branding all over, it doesn’t mean Big Red’s subscribers are looking at any sort of exclusivity period.

Technically, AT&T got a bit of a head start on its arch-rival, though even pre-orders filed last Tuesday at Ma Bell will only begin to be fulfilled tomorrow, November 18. Meanwhile, VZW has the GS7 Edge up for grabs in a fourth color today, alongside black, gold and silver, with deliveries underway today, and physical store inventory also available already.

The best thing about Verizon’s sea-inspired swanky blue 5.5-incher is that, like all other S7 and S7 Edge variants, it qualifies for a pre-Black Friday buy-one-get-one-50-percent-off deal. And it’s eligible for waived $20 activation fees, setting you back $33 a month for a total of two years.

Overall, you’ll be paying $792 (or $1,188 for two units in whatever coats of paint tickle your fancy most), and at least in theory, you’ll get 90 percent of Note 7’s charm and super-premium specs with minimal explosion risks. Your move, T-Mobile.

Blue Coral Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge up for grabs now on AT&T, shipping from November 18

You probably didn’t expect this to work, but at least in part, the very slow release of a new Galaxy S7 Edge color has distracted both the tech media and everyday mobile hardware consumers from recent Note 7 scandals and lingering uncertainty around the root cause of fires and explosions.

No one’s going to forget the quality control fiasco anytime soon, although a number of Samsung devotees are likely ready to put it in the back of their minds for a chance to score the snazzy Blue Coral GS7 Edge.

First unveiled in Singapore, then rapidly expanded to Taiwan, and finally confirmed for “selected markets around the globe” last week, the maritime-inspired dual-curved 5.5-incher just discreetly went up for US pre-orders through AT&T.

Ma Bell is definitely not looking at any sort of regional chromatic exclusivity, but it could predate Verizon’s own commercial rollout by shipping the fashionable Nougat-ready phablet between November 18 and 22.

You could always try the carrier’s extensive retail store network if patience isn’t your top quality, though we wouldn’t get our hopes up. Just like gold platinum, silver titanium and black onyx flavors, the blue coral Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will set you back $794 outright from America’s number two wireless service provider, or $26.50 and up a month on Next plans.

Blue Coral Galaxy S7 Edge officially headed for ‘selected markets around the globe’, US included

While the Galaxy Note 7’s productive S Pen and ingenious iris scanner aren’t exactly features you can just enable on the S7 or S7 Edge via a software update, that Always on Display trick Motorola flat-out accused Samsung of stealing not long ago has indeed been ported from the ill-fated phablet to its little brothers.

And now, finally, the aggrieved world’s number one smartphone manufacturer can confirm the snazzy Blue Coral paint job of the Note 7 is coming to the S7 Edge “around the globe.” Starting today, November 1, in “selected markets” only, but fret not, as they apparently include the US in addition to Taiwan and Singapore.

We’re guessing the “calming and sophisticated” new Galaxy S7 Edge edition will go on sale across the old continent sometime soon as well, since on American shores, all four major carriers should release it over the next few weeks.

No under-the-hood changes, no screen size or resolution upgrades, this is the same old dual-curved 5.5-incher we’ve known and loved since spring, following “this year’s color trends, which are less vivid and more tranquil”, with a nature-inspired hue shimmering as if it is “illuminated from the inside of the phone’s glass surface.”

Blue Coral Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is here… if here means Singapore

We can’t stress this enough: the untimely death of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 shouldn’t be regarded as such a tragic occurrence when the extremely similar GS7 Edge is still around and safe to use. Unfortunate, sure,

Windows Phone Blue on-screen buttons revealed in alleged leak

The advantages of on-screen navigation buttons, on certain Android devices, including the Nexus, allow OEMs to reduce the bezel on the phone’s front, even if not every phone-maker takes advantage of that. Disadvantages include slightly smaller screen real-estate, because the on-screen buttons themselves take up a stripe of pixels from the available total. According to this latest leak by @evleaks, we’re looking at on-screen buttons in the upcoming “Blue” release of Windows Phone, believed to be version 8.1.
