Canon launches 45MP flagship EOS R5 for $3,899

Alright, can I just say Dear Canon, welcome back. For those of you that didn’t know this show started with a Canon T3i back in 2012, and let’s just say the company really dropped the ball after. Took forever to adopt 4K, and when they did it was a horrible crop even at full frame. Like we had to move to Sony and then Panasonic, but we might just wanna go back. Hear this.. They just launched a new flagship 45MP EOS R5 camera. Yes, it costs $3899 but, this thing is capable of recording 8K 12-bit RAW video with new in-body stabilization with their class-leading Dual Pixel autofocus. Oh, and did I also mention that it records 4K at 120fps, and that it brings an articulate LCD display? So, to my buddy David Cogen who said that Blackmagic was a poor man’s RED, this just took the title.

Android 11 set to go official on September 8?

Android 11 Beta 1 was released about a month ago and yesterday we got the second version. Now, we don’t have an exact launch date for the final software but, Mountain View may have just leaked it. Google released a video titled “Works with “Hey G” Smart Home Summit – APAC” and it revealed through a check list that Android 11 would be officially released on September 8. However, Android Authority reports that Google reached out and said that the date was an error but it still gives us at least an idea of when to expect the official Android 11.

iOS 14 public beta is now available, here’s how to get it

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ leak reveals Snapdragon 865+ and 45W charging

The Samsung Galaxy Buds X have been certified by the FCC

Let’s talk about certifications which just keep on coming, specifically for the products we’re expecting from Samsung’s Unpacked. Now we have the specs for the Galaxy Tab S7+ which, according to the report, will bring the new Snapdragon 865+ SoC, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage along with a 10090 mAh battery which supports 45W fast charging. It’ll also bring 5G connectivity but, it will only support sub-6GHz bands. Apparently it will also pack dual cameras at the back and a 120Hz display. Moving on to another certification, the Galaxy Buds X or Buds Live just went through the FCC as well, revealing the dimensions and the fact that they will weigh around 5g. They have this bean shape as they’re meant to go inside your ear unlike the Buds+ and will reportedly cost $140 to undercut the AirPods Pro while still bring Noise Cancellation. Some leaks hint to these launching along the Galaxy Watch 3 on July 22nd instead of Unpacked but, we’ll have to wait and see.

Story of the day:

We get more OnePlus Nord leaks

OnePlus Nord leaked in full glory ahead of July 21 launch

We’re getting closer and closer to the OnePlus Nord and now we have some leaks that actually don’t come from OnePlus. The first one is a couple of pictures posted by Evan Blass, showing the phone off in a black color variant. We get to see the quad camera array at the back along with the dual punch hole at the front, pretty much confirming the leaks and teasers we saw earlier. The second image also comes from Evan, now showing off the cases which will apparently be made by three different artists. The first two come from Swedish artists called Camilla Ermstrong and Finsta, while the third one will be a teardown case by our buddy Zack at JerryRigEverything. You gotta admit this is the most epic OnePlus launch ever and probably at the right time considering, right now what we need is more affordable phones. Canon launches 45MP flagship EOS R5 for $3,899

Canon has finally launched its flagship 45-megapixel, $3,899 EOS R5. It can shoot 8K 12-bit RAW video aided by a new in-body stabilization system and Canon’s class-leading Dual Pixel autofocus. It comes with a brand new 45 megapixels full-frame CMOS sensor. The camera can achieve blazing continuous shooting speed of up to 20fps at full resolution using the electronic shutter, and with full AF and AE tracking, thanks to the DIGIC X image processor.

Despite having 45 megapixels, EOS R5 native ISO can go up to an incredible ISO 51200, with the option to expand to ISO 102400. The AF coverage area has been expanded to cover the entire sensor (100% x 100%). This means focusing is available on any part of the frame, making focusing on subjects at the far edges a breeze.  Manually selectable AF positions on the EOS R5 is 5,940. The AF tracking has improved dramatically. The camera is equipped with the ability to enable AF Priority mode for either people or animals. In addition, the camera is able to recognize not just the body, but head and eyes of the subjects as well.

Canon EOS R5

It incorporates In-Body Image Stabilization function and it can also work in conjunction with Optical Image stabilization of the lens, effective up to 8-stops shutter speed. The camera can handle a wider range of shooting conditions because of the support for EF and RF series lens with IS or Non IS category. Despite its compact size, EOS R5 has two card slots that can accommodate one CFexpress card and one SD memory card.

The processing power of DIGIC X, coupled with the ultra-fast CF express media, enables EOS R5 to record mind-blowing 8K movies at 30fps with full sensor readout. Shooting in 8K allows flexibility in cropping during post-production even for 4K delivery. In addition, there is even an option to record 8K RAW movies internally without any external accessories. The Canon EOS R5 is also capable of recording up to 120fps in 4K as well. A variety of file formats are available, including RAW, H.265 HEVC and H.264 MP4 in either ALL-I or IPB compression.

Canon EOS R5

The Canon EOS R5 supports both 5GHz and 2.4GHz wireless LAN without any additional accessory, a first for the company. This means photographers can easily transfer image data from the camera to a smart device, PC or even FTP server. If the user requires even faster speeds, or SFTP with secured LAN, the optional WFT-R10 is available. It comes with 2×2 MIMO and wired LAN for faster and more stable connections. EOS R6 only supports the 2.4GHz band but retains the FTP & FTPS functionality.

Further, it supports  Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) as well. The camera comes with a magnesium alloy body and is weather sealed against dust and moisture. It has the same 500 000 cycles shutter durability as the EOS-1D X Mark III. The EOS R5 sports a top LCD panel.

“OnePlus Buds” could be the name of OnePlus’ TWS earphones

We’ve been hearing that OnePlus is working on some Truly Wireless Earbuds for a while now which have been tipped for a July launch. Now, the same source just shared a new sketch of the buds, which still looks like a combination of the regular AirPods with the Pixel Buds case. They’re reportedly going to be called the OnePlus Buds and they’re expected to have support for touch controls, the Google Assistant, and fast-pairing with OnePlus phones. We don’t have any more details but we’ll see them soon enough.

Apple might offer health monitoring capabilities on AirPods in the next few years

Speaking of earbuds, it looks like Apple wants to bring some health improvements to the AirPods in the next few years. According to two new DigiTimes reports, Apple has roped in ASE Technology to supply components to add ambient light sensors for health monitoring duties. These light sensors would pass light through your skin to check blood movement in the vessels to detect your heart rate and any other data. However, this would require a redesign for the AirPods and it will most likely come in the next 1-2 years.

Galaxy Note 20+ leaked renders show a familiar design and ginormous camera bump

We have some new renders for the Galaxy Note 20 and they actually come from OnLeaks this time. They’re slightly different than the ones we got last week but retain some of the same elements. According to the leaks, this phone will bring a 6.9in AMOLED display with the centered punch hole. Now, at the back we have a huge camera hump that might even be bigger than the Galaxy S20 Ultra. We have three lenses that kind of remind us of the iPhone 11 line up because of the rings for each camera, as well as a ToF sensor. We’re also able to see the periscope zoom lens but it’s not clear if this one will have 100x capabilities like the S20 Ultra did. This leaks also retain the changes like moving the buttons to the right and the S Pen to the left of the phone.
