Nokia Schedules Lumia Event for Next Month; What Will We Get to See?

These last few months have had Nokia sitting on a whole bunch of rumored hardware. We wondered if we might get news of models like the metallic Catwalk or the PureView Lumia EOS at MWC, but the only new Lumias to surface then were the lower-end 720 and 520. When are we going to get to see the rest of this stuff? Well, we just might get our chance in a few weeks, as Nokia has just started distributing invitations to a May 14 London event. Make no mistake – this won’t be another Asha announcement like that QWERTY model the ...

Nokia Preparing Galaxy Note Competitor Phablet, EOS PureView Lumia In July

With Microsoft’s plans to update Windows Phone in order to add Full HD resolution to the table, OEMs get more freedom in designing and building higher-end hardware. Nokia apparently wants in on the phablet bandwagon as Financial Times reports that the Finnish manufacturer is planning on adding a phablet to its Lumia line-up, most probably to compete with Samsung’s Galaxy Note. The EOS-codenamed PureView Lumia is back in the headlines with the same report claiming it could land as early as July. It could (allegedly) have a 41-megapixel sensor but it will also be accompanied by ...

Nokia’s Aluminum Catwalk Finally Pictured?

Nokia’s next round of Windows Phone models have been the subject of rumors for months now. The Lumia 928 looks nearly ready to launch, and while the xenon flash sounds great, it’s hard to get excited over a phone that’s essentially last year’s 920. Some of the other Nokia models we’ve been talking about could have some more compelling hooks: the EOS with its 41-megapixel PureView camera, and Catwalk, with a body crafted out of aluminum. So far, we’ve yet to get a ...

The Pocketnow Weekly Podcast, Episode 039

Stuff comes up, folks. Sometimes you’ve got a pressing appointment in Romania, or a meeting scheduled in Media, PA. Sometimes you’re at the day job, other times you’re off the grid somewhere in the country. Other times you’re buying a car. These things happen. Fortunately for us, these things don’t usually happen all at once, which means the Pocketnow Weekly podcast usually features more than two people on the air. But today, listeners, Lady Luck was not with us. Today, Sam the Scheduler was out sick, because every member of the Pocketnow team was otherwise ...

Dear Nokia, Please Reboot Your Phone Designs

Oh no! Just how many variations on the same design can the market take? I guess the fair answer to that is different from person to person and there’s always the good old saying according to which you shouldn’t fix something that is not broken (or, in this case, that still sells). Apple’s iPhones look fairly the same; of course there are differences from one major iteration to the other (3, 4, 5) but the design principle is alike. Before Samsung launched its Galaxy S 4 I was praying for a new design because the current pebble-like aspect has been used and abused like a ...

Nokia Lumia 928 Leaked In Photos

After the success of the Nokia Lumia 920 for AT&T, the web has been packed with rumors of a counterpart to be released on the Verizon network and dubbed the Nokia Lumia 928. Some rumored it being made of aluminum as part of Nokia’s project Catwalk, but as the leaked images that we found today show, it seems that aluminum and Lumia won’t marry just yet. The leaked photos show a device made of polycarbonate, and in an interesting twist, it looks nothing like the Nokia Lumia 920 aesthetically. They are both reported to have identical specs, but this Lumia 928 packs a design ...

Nokia Catwalk Specs Leaked: Is This What You Were Expecting?

Right at the start of the year, we first heard of the Nokia Catwalk, the code name for a Windows Phone handset that would supposed do away with the company’s familiar polycarbonate designs and elect to dress itself in aluminum. Beyond that, Catwalk was said to be largely similar to the Lumia 920, hardware-wise. Rumors of the phone have popped up time and time again since then, most recently

Nokia Catwalk Is Rumored To Launch On May 15th In London

Nokia’s codename Catwalk has been on rumor mill for the past couple of months. At first we heard rumors of it reaching T-Mobile first, but now it seems that the device might make a global debut in London next month. Now this rumor is sadly very vague.
