Motorola Lollipop update prepared for all 2013 and 2014 phones; coming “really soon”

There is absolutely no need to recap Motorola’s efforts related to the Android 5.0 Lollipop update; instead, we’ll just praise the company for being among the first ones to deliver Google’s latest and greatest to its current devices. However, those who own older models are not enjoying the Lollipop dessert just yet, but the company is getting there, according to Motorola’s Luciano Carvalho who took some details on the progress to his Google+ page (embedded below).According to the post, Carvalho reassures everyone that Motorola is working hard on updating 2014 and ...

Motorola posts up Lollipop update tracker

Android 5.0 Lollipop is on the way, and we know many of you with those fancy new Moto Xs are just itching to use it on your phone. So instead of being inundated with “ETA please!!!” all day long after the source code for the update drops, Motorola is trying to escape the bombardment by setting up a dedicated Motorola Lollipop update tracker for its most recent phones.Motorola, of course, has been almost-godlike in its delivery ...

Changelog posted for Droid Maxx, Ultra, Mini Android 4.4.4 updates

This weekend, an update to the 2013 Droid family of devices began rolling out, though a list of what exactly was new (other than the bump up to the newest version of KitKat) was absent at the time. Finally, both Verizon and Motorola have posted up a Droid family Android 4.4.4 update changelog on their sites.Unfortunately, this update (build number 21.11.21) one’s centered around bloatware, but there is other stuff. VZ Cloud and Visual Voicemail have been updated, which I’m sure leaves the three people using those apps on their Droids pleased. The Isis mobile wallet app has also ...

Motorola Droid series to skip Android 4.4.3, go straight to 4.4.4

In a surprise move last night, Android 4.4.4 made an appearance and OTA updates began rolling out to select Nexus devices. Naturally, it’s time to talk updates, especially for Motorola phones (some of which were updated to Android 4.4.3 ...

Motorola Touchless control’s new “What’s up” command reads your notifications

Even though Motorola hasn’t gained the amount of praise we’d want it to have for its 2013 line-up, that doesn’t change the fact that the company did raise the bar significantly with devices like the Moto X. You can fully interact with the device without having to pick-it-up, and as sci-fi as that would’ve sounded just a year ago, people have become fond of its simplicity and accuracy. That said, even though the company has gained a new owner, it hasn’t stopped working on improving its offerings. The company’s Touchless controls app will soon be enhanced ...

Motorola Droid Ultra, Mini see new white versions arrive at Verizon

For a day crammed between a holiday and a weekend, you could forgive today for being a bit of no-man’s-land when it comes to smartphone news, with nothing interesting happening besides word arriving of a few more Black Friday deals. In spite of that, we’re seeing some relatively interesting news come down the pipeline, including that of new editions of some popular Androids. We already looked at a couple additional color options for ...

White Motorola DROID Mini leaked for Verizon

The Motorola DROID Mini was announced back in summer, together with the Motorola Droid Ultra, and Maxx. It features a 4.3-inch 720p screen, a dual-core  1.7GHz processor (the Motorola X8 unit), 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a ten-megapixel shooter with a two-megapixel front-facer, as well as a 2,000mAh battery. Has the iPhone met its match – the, wait? Droid Ultra family?

Everyone looks for different things in a smartphone. Maybe you care about high-speed data, while your friend might be more concerned with the availability of certain key apps. That makes it difficult to give one-size-fits-all opinions on phones, but we sure endeavor to do our best, particularly through our Scored for Me matrix. But even with all these differences of opinion, we still expect certain trends to show through: no one’s going to argue that the LG Optimus F5 is the superior phone to the G2, for instance. That’s why

Bypass the Moto X’s password with Motorola Skip (Video)

Device security is very important, especially as we begin to trust our smartphones with more and more sensitive data – work emails, private conversations, or even banking information. Personal devices, such as smartphones and tablets, are far more private than most other types of electronics. As such, they should be treated with care and likely password or PIN protected. The unfortunate side effect is having to type a PIN or password dozens of times every day, which is quite tedious and can grow to be rather frustrating. However,

The Moto X goes official in under a day, but when does that mean you’ll actually be able to get your hands on the Android? Rumors have seemed split into two camps, with the bulk looking to late August availability, but there also being talk about the phone going up for sale tomorrow, right on launch day. Today we get some new support for one of those ideas, as well as get some insight into when Verizon could be getting the HTC One and all those other new Motorola models. The latest Verizon leak ...

Motorola just put Samsung, HTC and Nokia to shame with the Droid Mini

Can this be true? As Brandon and I were discussing Motorola’s new Droid line-up, I can’t lie, my initial reaction was to not care. I’ve been so disappointed in the past by last-year’s Droids that I really didn’t care enough to even gaze at the spec sheet of these phones. I was expecting the same story, where the MAXX was a battery phone, the Ultra was the “so called” flagship and then the mini was just another watered-down variant that’s not even worth your consideration. I ...

The new Droid Ultra line: three awesome features we want in every phone

The new Motorola has arrived … or something like that. The Moto X still isn’t officially official, although we received an invitation to an August 1st press event titled Moto X. But today, in a joint press event with Verizon, three new Motorola handsets were announced: Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini. Gone is the RAZR branding, to no surprise, but Motorola hasn’t severed ties with its ...

With pre-orders now open for the just-launched Motorola Droid Ultra, Maxx, and Mini, we’re continuing to get new information about these models. We knew they would have 10-megapixel cameras, but have now managed to confirm that these will indeed be the RGBC components we heard rumored, and we’ve also discovered a little about what Verizon’s planning for the future of its Droid brand.
