Motorola Moto G images leak, as conflict arises over hardware specs

With the Nexus 5 and Android 4.4 news, yesterday was a crazy busy one for us smartphone junkies, and in an effort to keep on top of that business, some other stories got pushed to the back burner. Not that things have calmed down a little, we wanted to revisit one such story, and also see that some new info has come to light today, all helping to reveal to us Motorola’s Moto G. We mentioned the Moto G named to you earlier this week, and then yesterday @evleaks ...

What the heck is this “Moto G,” Motorola?

Project Ara may be dominating the Motorola news today, but for as interesting as that concept design is, we get a little more excited about devices that are more on the cusp of actually launching. As such, we’ve been looking forward to this DVX, presumed to be a more affordable alternative to the Moto X, and aimed at different markets. But now there’s a new model on our radar that already has a very compelling name: just what could Motorola be up do ...

Motorola’s DVX could be the phone I wish the Moto X was

When you mention “Android” to someone who uses a smartphone powered by another operating system, they usually respond with something like “laggy” or “slow”. To be fair, I’ve used more than a few “slow” and “laggy” Androids. In my experience, those phones have been the exception, not the rule, and they are usually always the “free” or “cheap” phones that a carrier gives you when you sign up with them, or re-up your contract. To avoid having a sub-par experience, one could simply buy the latest ...

Motorola DVX rumors address hardware specs, pricing

We’ve been talking about Motorola’s so-called DVX for months now, with the rumors dating all the way back to June. The phone’s been described as a seriously budget priced model in the style of the Moto X, but even though we’ve seen the handset swing by the FCC and pose for a few photos, we’ve lacked any real understanding of what sort of internal hardware to expect. If a new report can be trusted, ...

New Motorola DVX pics show phone fully assembled

When are we finally going to get the skinny on lower-cost version of the Motorola Moto X we’ve heard rumored for so long, the Motorola DVX? Last time we were talking about the handset, it sounded like a mid-September launch could have been possible, but that clearly hasn’t actually happened. Back at the beginning of the month, we saw the FCC publish the test documentation for the XT1032, XT1033, and XT1035 – the three carrier variants of the DVX of which we’re ...

iPhone 5S event, Android 4.4 Kit Kat, Microsoft buys Nokia & more – Pocketnow Daily

Watch today’s Pocketnow Daily as we talk about Apple’s September 10th event, where we expect to see the official launch of the iPhone 5S, iPhone 5C and iOS 7. We could easily dub this as the iPhone 5 event, but we still don’t have an official name for the invite. Then we go through Google’s silent announcement of Android’s next version name, which will be Android 4.4 Kit Kat. Then we go through the Sony Xperia Z1 leaked press information, aside from more details on the Cybershot X. We then talk about the Motorola DVX, which is the affordable companion of the ...

Motorola DVX makes FCC appearance, as possible pricing/launch details emerge

We’ve been kicking around the name Motorola DVX for a while now, first hearing about it back in June as the name for hardware that might be a lower-cost version of the Moto X. Since then, we’ve heard a few details about the handset, such as unlike how the Moto X’s custom backplates are factory-set, the DVX might allow the user to pop them out at his or her convenience. Today we find a whole lot of new DVX info to ...

Motorola DVX rumored as ultra-low-cost handset

Motorola’s focus at the moment seems to be on Androids that avoid the bleeding-edge-spec rat race and focus on other core elements of the user experience, instead. Just look at the specs rumored for the Moto X, which while they sound perfectly workable, are significantly removed from the flagship-level hardware other OEMs have been putting out. Now a new rumor suggests that Motorola and Google are looking to make an even lower-end, much more affordable handset, supposedly under development as the Motorola DVX. According to ...
