New round of early Best Buy Black Friday deals includes $50 Moto G4 Play and dirt-cheap Samsung tabs

While Black Friday is still technically 36 hours or so away at the time of this writing, and the vast majority of Best Buy’s doorbusters dedicated to the occasion have been slated for a Thanksgiving Day inauguration, it’d be a shame not to check out some of the retailer’s already available holiday steals.

After offering the US unlocked Samsung Galaxy S7 for an all-time low price of $550, free fast charge wireless pad included, and a $600 128GB Surface Pro 4 keyboard bundle a couple of weeks back, then throwing in $300 gift cards with LG G5 purchases, BB today discreetly knocks the Moto G4 Play off to $49.99.

There’s obviously one big catch, namely an obligation to activate the 5-inch phone on a prepaid Verizon plan, but still, you’re looking at LTE connectivity, near-stock Android Marshmallow with Nougat decidedly on the way, 16GB expandable storage, 2GB RAM, and decent 2,800 mAh battery capacity.

Normally, the Big Red prepaid G4 Play costs $85, although we’ve seen it discounted to $65 not long ago. Never to $50, of course.

At the same time, you can procure a wide range of Samsung tablets at marked-down prices, including a $70 Galaxy Tab E Lite, $90 Tab A (2016) 7.0, $200 Tab A 10.1, and $400 Galaxy View, the latter of which used to cost a whopping $550. Oh, and if you happen to pass by a Best Buy physical store, do inquire about this Galaxy S7 trade-in program promising $450 in gift cards for any “working smartphone” replaced with a brand-new Samsung flagship on a Verizon, AT&T or Sprint monthly installment plan.

Samsung unveils wide but underwhelming range of upcoming Black Friday deals

If Samsung perhaps didn’t need Black Friday blowouts in past years to get people excited about the company’s super-successful flagship phones for the holidays, we kinda sorta assumed 2016 would be different.

But it looks like all those Note 7-redeeming discounts on the S7 and S7 Edge got the chaebol prematurely out of the celebratory mood, at least stateside. There’s still a bunch of deals in the pipeline, some rolling out as early as November 18, others on the 20th, and a couple saved for a 28th Cyber Monday start.

Unfortunately, we don’t see anything about additional GS7 cuts previewed on Samsung’s US website. Just certified pre-owned S6 and S6 Edge units slated to cost $400 and $450 respectively before long, a fairly disappointing $70 Gear VR (2015) promo, $150 Gear Fit 2 wearable, $230 Gear S2, $250 S2 Classic, and $300 Gear S3 smartwatches.

The very recently released Gear S3 is the only one we’d wholeheartedly recommend you purchase next week at a $50 markdown in Classic or Frontier derivations, while the tablet selection on sale will include a $400 Galaxy View, $250 Tab A 10.1 with S Pen, $200 standard Tab A 10.1, $150 Tab E 9.6, and $100 Tab A 7.0. Good thing third-party retailers are always in a giving mood this time of year.

Colossal Samsung Galaxy View gets puny $350 price tag in special Best Buy deal

For its 50th anniversary, Best Buy on Friday kicked off a fitting 50 deals only supposed to last 50 hours. These covered a wide range of tech departments, from smartphones to smartwatches, tablets, laptops, HDTVs and so on, but in all honesty, they felt somewhat underwhelming on the whole, at least as far as mobile gadget enthusiasts are concerned. After digging a little deeper however, we’ve discovered one unprecedented bargain, though being marked as a “special anniversary deal” on BB’s official website suggests it could expire in mere minutes. On the bright side, it’s also ...

Lenovo has an 18.4-inch tablet of its own in the works, with 4GB RAM and 2K screen

Judging from recent movement on the tablet release front, the market’s only real hope for survival are 2-in-1 convertibles capable of doubling as mini-laptops. Possibly, gargantuan models too, making the Surface Pro 4 and iPad Pro feel puny, like the Samsung Galaxy View or

Samsung Galaxy View now available from Verizon with 64GB storage at $600

We know it feels like the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is the first tablet released by Samsung in ages, but that’s just because the TabPro S and Galaxy View are so unusual. The latter is basically a TV with a touchscreen and Android, going for a whopping $550 off the bat stateside last ...

Brand new Samsung Galaxy View tablet already discounted to $500

What exactly happened with Galaxy View’s US pricing? The ginormous 18.4-inch Android first went on sale in a Wi-Fi-only configuration at $600, a tag that felt a little lofty, but was anticipated by several pre-release rumors and leaks. Then, AT&T picked up an LTE-enabled version, and charged the same 600 bucks off-contract, or $500 with two-year pacts. Needless to point ...

LTE-connected Samsung Galaxy View landing at AT&T with surprisingly low price

Samsung rounded out last month by going official with the giant-sized tablet we’d heard rumored for months, and teased since the days of IFA: the 18.4-inch Galaxy View. For its size, the $600 sticker price doesn’t sound too crazy for the tablet, but that’s for the WiFi-only edition; we also knew to expect an LTE-connected edition of the Galaxy View, but hadn’t picked up any confirmation in ...

Samsung Galaxy View pricing, release info starts arriving

Following months of rumors and weeks since Samsung first teased the tablet, yesterday saw the introduction of the 18.4-inch Galaxy View. With its big screen and two-way stand, the tablet seemed destined to turn a lot of heads, but before it could start doing that it would have to actually arrive – and news of the Galaxy View’s launch didn’t arrive with any details about pricing or availability. Today those specifics start falling into place, as we hear about plans for early November ...

Samsung launches Galaxy View mega-tablet

It sure feels like 2015 is officially the year of the extra-large tablet. If you weren’t already convinced by Apple and the new iPad Pro, news of Samsung’s own larger-than-life tablet should have sealed the deal. Rumors of the model date back months and months, and at IFA in early September the formal story on this guy started coming together, as Samsung teased the Galaxy View. In the weeks since, we’ve heard a great deal about this 18.4-incher, and

US retailer reveals $599 Samsung Galaxy View price, more middling specs

Before Samsung could get a chance to properly unveil and fully detail the gargantuan Galaxy View tablet, the online branch of camera and film equipment store Adorama just started accepting pre-orders.That feels a little premature and, frankly, clickbaity, as we doubt the Korean device manufacturer authorized the US electronics retailer’s information spill. At the same time, we ...

Samsung Galaxy View gets FCC’s seal of approval for AT&T

Now that the most colossal Samsung-made Android tablet to date is practically confirmed to carry the Galaxy View name, and the specifications are out in the open pretty much in full, we only need to unearth the 18-incher’s price tag, ETA, and targeted markets to solve the entire puzzle. The Federal Communications Commission helps determine the US will indeed be included in the ...

Samsung Galaxy View name, overall specs, small battery confirmed

Samsung has been rumored for ages to try and crack open yet another bizarre tech market niche, possibly doing for tablets what it’s done for smartphones with now prevalent phablets. But jumbo-sizing an already jumbo-sized class of gadgets doesn’t sound easy, which is why the Korean giant (no pun intended) hesitated for so long to issue 12.2-inch Galaxy Tab Pro or Note Pro sequels.Ultimately, the two may have been scrapped altogether in favor of a weirdly low-end 18.4-inch Galaxy View. This was first teased at IFA in early ...

Samsung Galaxy View benchmark data confirms big screen (but is it high-res enough?)

Is it finally time for Samsung to reveal its mountain of a tablet, the device teased back at IFA as the Galaxy View? We’ve been looking forward to this 18.4-inch giant for a couple months now, and a growing body of evidence has revealed the tablet’s slow path through the regulatory waters, picking up certifications here and there. Samsung mentioned that it would have more to share sometime this month, and now with ...
