OnePlus phones are well-known for giving their fans and users more bang for their buck. Yeah, even though it’s not necessarily the same ‘flagship killer’ company we came to love, it still manages to deliver some great devices that won’t make you break the bank. The latest OnePlus 9 series is a great example of this.
If you want to go all out, you can get the 9 Pro, which comes with flagship specs and, yes, a flagship price tag. However, you can also go for the more affordable vanilla variant, and if you need help deciding on which model to grab, you can check our latest review made by Jaime Rivera. That said, you can currently score a new OnePlus 9 model with up to $370 savings. However, this discount doesn’t arrive without certain conditions, as you will have to trade in an eligible device to get it.
Now, if you don’t feel like trading in your current phone, you can also go for the OnePlus 8 series, as they are getting up to $300 discounts. The OnePlus 8 Pro with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage is selling for $699, down from its regular $999 price tag, and you also get a new pair of OnePlus Buds Z White for free to go with your order.
The OnePlus 8T is better than the entry-level OP 8, but not as great as the 8 Pro. Still, you get the same 12GB RAM and 256GB of storage space, but you will only have to pay $599, down from its regular $749 price tag, which translates to $150 savings. If you purchase this model, you will also score a free OnePlus 8T 3D Tempered Glass Screen, you know, for extra protection. And finally, you can also get your new OnePlus 8 with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage space for $499, which translates into $200 savings.
If you’re still looking for other options, you can get a new Nokia 8.3 with 128GB storage and dual-SIM capacity for $400 with $300 savings at B&H. The same device sells for $628 on Amazon.com, but this will only let you save $71. And if you don’t care much about whether your phone is new or not, you can grab a Google Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL for as low as $100 over at Woot.com.

Google Pixel 3 is one of the phones that has held well even after 2 years of launch. The smartphone debuted back in 2018, and it is still going strong. If you are one of those who own a Google Pixel 3, you might want to keep it protected and scratch-free. We recommend you use a case on your two-year-old phone to still keep it like new. If your old case has worn out, it’s time to take a look at some new cases. Hence, we have compiled a list of the best Pixel 3 cases you can buy in 2021.
Our favorite is the Spigen Tough Armor case designed for the Google Pixel 3. It offers extreme drop protection with two layers of impact resistance. Moreover, you get a reinforced kickstand with raised lips to protect the screen and camera. It comes with tactile buttons and Mil-grade certified with Air Cushion Technology to protect your phone. The Spigen offering is one of the best Pixel 3 cases on the list. It offers a precise design language that also works with the Active Edge feature. The case is also wireless charging compatible.
If you are in the market for a wallet case, we advise you to look at the Cadorabo Book Case. It comes with a flap that can be folded out 360-degrees and therefore it won´t interrupt you while texting or telephoning. An inbuilt hard case is glued firmly into the cover and provides perfect grip for your smartphone. Further, the surface is made of soft faux-leather which provides a classic and noble look.
With the book case, you get a horizontal kickstand function and 2 card slots, and a money pouch. All ports and buttons are accessible without restriction. The used material is thin, light, and soft but also provides excellent shock absorption. It offers all of this while the phone reception is not affected by this cover. The unit is clicked into the shell and can be removed easily if necessary.

Yesterday’s Google announcement to make some changes to its storage policies came as a shock to most of us. These changes include a new auto-delete policy for accounts that are inactive and for users who have surpassed their storage limits. However, these aren’t the only changes that are coming, as it seems that Google won’t offer free unlimited storage in Google Photos with future Pixel devices.
It seems that this may be a great moment to buy a new Google Pixel device if you’re interested in free, unlimited Google Photos backups. Google’s latest changes to its storage policies will start taking effect on June 1, 2021. This means that from that date, any new photo and video you upload will count toward the free 15GB storage each user receives with his or her Google account. Further, any new document will also add up to a users’ limit.
Now, things don’t stop there, as Google has also announced that future Google Pixel devices won’t include unlimited ‘high-quality’ Google Photo backups while existing Pixel devices will continue to do so. This is because every Google Pixel device before the Google Pixel 5 will be exempt from Google’s policy change.
“If you back up your photos and videos in Original quality, these changes do not affect you. As always, your Original quality photos and videos will continue to count toward your 15 GB of free storage across your Google Account.
“If you have a Pixel 1-5, photos uploaded from that device won’t be impacted. Photos and videos uploaded in High quality from that device will continue to be exempt from this change, even after June 1, 2021.”
In other words, the latest Google Pixel a4 and Pixel 5 may be your best option to avoid paying $1.99 per month if you want 100GB of storage space to keep your future pictures, videos and documents backed up. And you must also remember to check your accounts every now and then to stop the automatic deletion of your files.

Google has begun the rollout of the October Android security update for its line-up of Pixel smartphones. The update is available for the Pixel 2/2 XL, Pixel 3/3 XL. Pixel 3a/ 3a XL, Pixel 4/ 4 XL, and the Pixel 4a. As expected, it brings a host of bug fixes and resolves a few device-specific issues as well. One of the improvements listed in the changelog that hits a bit close to home for me was a fix for the Pixel 3/ 3 XL’s bootloop issue. “Fix for some devices stuck during boot”, says the official support page. You can check the whole changelog below:
Now, I’ve been testing Android 11 ever since the first beta was released, after which my Pixel 3 got the stable update. However, the stable Android 11 update didn’t prove to be particularly stable for my Pixel 3, as the device started randomly rebooting on its own. On a few occasions, the phone got stuck in a bootloop cycle and won’t even let me reset it or enter the recovery mode, as it automatically shut down while I was navigating the menu. A few times, the phone made it past the Google logo screen and made it to the lock screen, but again went into the reboot cycle as soon as I swiped up.
Surprisingly, the Pixel 3 started working normally once the bootloop cycle fully exhausted the battery and I charged it again. However, it started boot-looping soon after, with the periods of normal functionality lasting between a few hours to a few days. Now, I love my Pixel 3 for reasons more than one (good cameras, clean interface and compact size) and also abhor it for its glaring failures that include an awful battery life and aggressive background app management. But or the most part, I enjoy using it – WITHOUT THE BOOTLOOPING, that is!
However, it appears that I am not the only one experiencing bootloop issues on my phone after, and neither is Pixel 3 the only Google smartphone experiencing the problem after updating to Android 11. A quick look at the official Google Support forum (1, 2, 3, 4), Reddit, XDA-Developers forum, and Twitter reveals a plethora of complaints from Pixel 2, Pixel 3a, as well as Pixel 3 users. Take for example this Twitter user’s complaint:
And this:
And this one too:
I’ve just finished installing the October security update on my Pixel 3, and I am sincerely hoping that the bootloop issue gets fixed. While I’ve got a few smartphones lying around that I could use while my Pixel 3 was paying a visit to the bootloop-verse, not many users have access to a spare device that they can use as their daily driver. And the fact that the Pixel 3 didn’t come cheap and the customer support service does not always provide a satisfactory solution for a two-generation old device, the stakes for the October Android security update to fulfill its role are a notch higher.

Google’s Pixel 3 has proven to be an excellent phone for me, save for the small battery and the occasional restart issues I’ve been facing with it lately. However, it appears that many Pixel 3 users have been plagued with swollen batteries that are damaging the phone’s rear panel and prying it apart from the surrounding frame. First spotted by the folks over at AndroidPolice, there’s a lengthy thread on Google’s official support forum where affected Pixel 3 users have documented the worrying issue that can also turn out to be a potential safety hazard. To make it clear early on, both Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners have reported the aforementioned issue.
In a majority of cases, wireless charging stopped working on the Pixel 3 units with a swollen battery, likely because the battery’s bloated shape misaligned the Qi charging above it or severed the connection point. In some cases, the fingerprint sensor and the speaker started to malfunction on affected units. Some users are reporting that their phone started overheating, while one post mentioned that the unit exploded at a repair shop. As per user reports, Google has issued replacement unit to some users, while those with an out-of-warranty Pixel 3 device had to get a battery replacement.
The extent of damage also varies from user to user. In some cases, the rear panel only got curved in the middle and separated from the surrounding frame on one side, while in extreme cases, the glass shattered. Google is yet to release an official statement regarding the issue. But if your Pixel 3’s battery has bloated and showing signs of swelling, stop using it for your safety and contact the support channel of the retailer from where you purchased it. Right now, it is too early to say if the issue can escalate into a class action lawsuit, but it would be interesting to see how Google handles it.
