Well, it looks like Apple is done with a ‘Mini’ after a brief spell of just two years. The iPhone 12 Mini was hailed as the ‘best compact phone’ and ‘the compact iPhone you’ve been wanting for years’ among many other names, but the sales performance narrated a different story. And it appears that Apple has not been too happy about it. As per TFI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, there won’t be a 5.4-inch ‘Mini’ iPhone next year, at least not in the core iPhone 14 lineup.
Apple will launch an iPhone 13 Mini, but it will be swan song of the Mini tier
“We predict that the new 2H22 iPhone will have 4 models, namely the high-end 6.7-inch and 6.1-inch models, and the lower-end 6.7-inch and 6.1-inch models,” Kuo was quoted as saying in a research note (via iMore). Apple is apparently going after size uniformity with the iPhone 14 line-up, with the Pro models coming in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch flavors, while the cheaper variants will also be available in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes next year. iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max, maybe?
As to why, well, the iPhone 12 Mini simply didn’t sell as many units as Apple had hoped. Back in January, it was reported that Apple is cutting down on iPhone 12 Mini orders and was giving a boost to iPhone 12 Pro production due to higher demand for the latter. And last month, Nikkei Asia reported that iPhone 12 Mini sales have been far lower than what Apple had initially expected, and that it was going to affect the late 2021 production run.
Apple misjudged how many people enjoy viewing content on phones.
The Mini is a great idea in practice and for reviewers who ain’t gotta pay for it and can use it as a SECOND phone.
As a MAIN phone that you BUY? Once it comes down to choosing you just rather get more screen https://t.co/UR79xlpySV

As for the reasons, well, there are many. Yes, the iPhone 12 Mini is $100 cheaper than the iPhone 12, despite offering the same camera and SoC. However, battery life proved to a major issue for the tiny phone. Plus, that 5.4-inch OLED display, despite being sharp and bright, is not particularly well-suited for content consumption, especially when it comes to games with a lot of on-screen buttons. Apple also appears to have misfired when it comes to assessing the ground reality of the phone market, and focused more on the appeal rather than functionality.
Pocketnow’s Jaime Rivera also echoed similar sentiments in his review as tech expert Ben Sin from XDA-Developers, with the latter pointing out how the demand for ‘larger’ iPhones with better specs was higher in the Asian market, while the iPhone 12 Mini was relegated to an enthusiast or niche class that didn’t sell as much as the vanilla iPhone 12 or the Pro models despite being significantly cheaper.

We keep on getting some killer deals over at Amazon.com. You can get your hands on a new LG Velvet 5G with 128GB of storage space and 6GB RAM for $380, after an $18.28 discount. This phone features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor and a 48MP camera that will allow you to shoot 4K video. What’s more interesting is that this is the model that took the LG G series’ place before LG decided to pull the plug on its smartphone business, so you would get the added value of what could be one of the last phones produced by LG.
Now, if you don’t want to risk the possibility of getting left without Android updates, you can also get the Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3a since they’re both on sale. The Google Pixel 3 comes in its Not Pink color variant, with 64GB of storage space, and you can get yours for just $207. Or get the Just Black version for $279, which will give you $520 savings.
You can currently score a new Amazon Echo Show 10 bundled with a Ring A19 Smart LED Bulb for just $200 after receiving a $64.99 discount. This bundle will be an excellent addition to your smart home or a great way to start since you will get a smart display with a 10.1-inch HD screen and Alexa support.
However, you can also start with a more affordable smart display, as the Echo Show 5 is getting a $10 discount, which leaves it available for $80, or get the Echo Show 8 for $110 with $20 savings.
You can also score a new Apple case with MagSafe for the iPhone 12 mini. The Leather case is currently a massive $35 discount, meaning you can grab one for $24 if you can settle for the Black variant, as the other color options are still selling for their regular $59 price tag.
The Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe for the iPhone 12 mini is currently selling for $20 with $30 discounts on its Deep Navy and its Black color options. And finally, the Apple Clear case can be yours for $20 with $30 savings.

Alright, I don’t mean to surprise you, but we’re gonna start today off with deals. You know you love them. Let’s start it off with Apple’s M1 MacBook Pro which I love and is currently 100 dollars off on Amazon, starting at 1199 and it has the same discount if you go for more storage. If you go for the 16-inch Intel model, for some whatever reason, that one is 200 dollars off if you go for 16GBs of RAM and 512GB of storage, leaving it at 2199. The Google Pixel 3a is 146 dollars off, leaving it at 333 dollars shipped. The Sony Xperia 1 Mark 2 which I know a lot of you love is 101 dollars off, leaving it at 1098, still pretty expensive. Finally, Samsung’s eternal trade-in deals are still available, meaning if you want to grab the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is still available for 499 with 100 dollars in instant credit if you have an eligible device. We have a ton of deals on gaming monitors, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation and Xbox games in the links in the description.
Let’s switch to reports and rumors before we take it back to the hottest news and, this time it’s about iPhones. Earlier this year we had a report from DigiTimes claiming that Apple would scale back iPhone 13 mini production due to low demand. Well, according to a new Nikkei Asia report, iPhone 12 mini sales have been far lower than Apple initially expected prompting the company to cut down orders for the mini from their original plan for the first half of the year.. Pretty much confirmation to what we heard earlier. The report mentions that some suppliers were even asked to stop building components that were specifically for the mini. Apparently Cupertino will cut planned production by more than 70% at least for the time being. That being said, Apple reportedly plans to cut production of all models by 20% so, the mini is taking a 50% cutback which is still huge. Many analysts claim that the low sales are because the iPhone 11 and 12 have similar prices and offer larger displays and batteries for a almost the same price. Let’s see what ends up happening with the 2021 line up if the mini doesn’t pick up over the rest of the year.
But alright, let’s get back to official news as, we just got the ROG Phone 5 Series and well it sounds great, but I’m not sure about the looks. well it sounds Michael Fisher showed me his Ultimate unit yesterday and while he loves it, struggling with not assuming it’s a white phone with a broken back. The company took to the virtual stage to introduce 3 new gaming smartphones, the ROG Phone 5, 5 Pro and the 5 Ultimate. Of course we’ll be focusing on the Ultimate here which brings a 6.78-inch AMOLED Display running at 144 Hz with 300 Hz touch sampling. It is powered by the Snapdragon 888 SoC, along with 18 gigs RAM, I know… 18 GIGS OF RAM, half a terabyte of non expandable storage that allows support for external hard drives through NTFS, and a massive 6000 mAh battery. I mean those numbers almost sound illegal in certain countries.. Meaning damn Asus is NOT playing around. When it comes to the cameras, you get a 64 megapixel main sensor from Sony, a 13 megapixel ultra wide and ugh, I don’t even know why they bother with the 5 megapixel Macro. The phone still comes with the Air Triggers at the top with the higher-end models bringing other extra buttons as well and you can still buy the gaming pad separately. The base model for the ROG Phone 5 starts at 800 Euros, the Rog Phone 5 Pro goes for 1200 Euros, while the Ultimate will cost you 1300 Euros. If you’re interested in availability and other details, make sure you check out the links in the description.
Let’s move the spotlight back on to Apple but, not for the products you would expect, let’s talk AirPods. We’ve been waiting on the third generation AirPods for quite some time and rumors hint that we could get them at Apple’s upcoming March Event. Now we have a new report from Gizmochina that shows some renders of the AirPods 3 which were apparently based on images from suppliers. From the renders you can notice the shorter stem and the vents at the top, showing a ton of resemblance to the current AirPods Pro, but without the silicone tips. The case is also shrinking down a bit and getting wider. We also have some IRL images of these headphones from a tipster on Twitter that, doesn’t have the greatest track record, but these look like the real deal. So yeah, these are pretty much turning into AirPods Pro when it comes to design but lacking the actual Pro features like Active Noise Cancelling. Again, we’re expecting these at the March Event which is reportedly 13 days away so, we’ll keep you posted if we get more leaks.
And finally, for the hottest news today let’s talk OnePlus as, they have managed to take up a great amount of the spotlight today, which makes sense as we get close to the OnePlus 9 Event. Pete Lau has been on a sort of Ming Chi Kuo type of run these past couple of days, with the exception that what he says aren’t predictions. First he revealed that we will be getting a charger, and now he confirmed that we will be getting a 50 megapixel ultra wide camera for the 9 Pro with a Sony IMX766 Sensor. He also showed some sample images where, apparently they took 2 ultra wide images and you can definitely see that there is way less distortion on the 9 Pro, but of course, we’ll have to test that to see how accurate it is. Now, speaking of that camera, MKBHD posted a picture of the new “Pro” UI that reportedly comes thanks to the Hasselblad partnership that the company has been teasing. From this picture we can see how the Pro mode let’s you control Shutter Speed, ISO, Focus and more. So, we’re currently expecting three phones from OnePlus, the 9R, the 9 and the 9 Pro. The 9 Pro will reportedly pack a 6.78-inch display, running at 120Hz, Snapdragon 888 5G, 8 or 12 gigs of RAM and your typical amount of storage. From all these teasers and leaks they’re focusing a lot on the camera, where we should expect a 48 megapixel main sensor, that 50 megapixel ultra wide, and then two other cameras that are still pending to be leaked.

Earlier this year in January, DigiTimes reported that Apple was cutting down the production of iPhone 12 Mini, and was instead planning to double down on the Pro models. Back then, it was reported that the uptake of iPhone 12 Mini in its key markets – US and Europe – was slower than expected due to the pandemic. Now, another report from Nikkei Asia claims that iPhone 12 Mini sales have been far lower than Apple initially expected, prompting the company to cut down orders for the compact phone from its planned H1 2021 production run.
“The biggest revision is for components and parts for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini, multiple sources said, which retails for around $699. Some suppliers were even asked to temporarily stop building components specifically for the mini, a source told Nikkei. The mildest estimate was that Apple will cut planned production by more than 70% for the six months through June.”
Apple is reportedly planning to lower the production of all iPhone models by approximately 20%, revising the target that was on track until December last year. However, the biggest share of production cutback falls in the account of iPhone 12 Mini, with experts citing multiple reasons behind its lackluster sales figures.
Some industry analysts note that the iPhone 11 offers a larger battery and display for around the same price as the Mini model. It is also worth noting that the vanilla iPhone 12 is just $100 pricier, and yet again, it offers a battery that lasts longer than Apple’s mini phone. To recall, the compact phone was criticized by many for its sub-par battery life, and there were a few other chinks in its armor that made it a less appealing package on a day-to-day basis despite its small form factor.
Apple still aims to produce 230 million iPhones in 2021
Apple is reportedly targeting a production run of approximately 75 million iPhones in the first half of 2021, lower than its initial target of around 100 million units. However, the company has assured suppliers that it still aims to make 230 million iPhones for the entire 2021, which is still a growth of 11% compared to last year.

Apple’s new iPhone family has something for everyone, whether it’s the small-yet-equally-mighty iPhone 12 mini with a 5.4-inch screen, the two 6.1-inch iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models, or the monstrous iPhone 12 Pro Max, which is more than just a bigger iPhone 12 Pro and is the biggest iPhone ever released.
Clearly, the global situation this year has resulted in delays for certain components. As a result, the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro both go up for preorder on October 16 and ship on October 23. Preorders for the smaller Mini and larger Max variants are delayed to November 6, with shipping starting November 13.
With that in mind, if you want to buy the 12 or 12 Pro, we’ve rounded up the best iPhone 12 deals below. If you’re interested in the iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Mini, we’ve also included the options below, but you’ll need to wait a couple of weeks to pre-order.
If you head over to Best Buy right now, you can save up to $1,000 on your new iPhone 12. It all depends on the carrier you choose. First, Sprint, now part of T-Mobile, lets you save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and an eligible device’s trade-in. We then focus on AT&T, where you can save up to $800 on your new device with the same conditions as Sprint, which means you have to activate a new line on one of AT&T’s qualified plans, and you also have to trade-in an eligible device.
Now, if you want to get your new iPhone 12 on Verizon’s network, there are two options to choose from, as you can save from $100 to $500 with qualified activation and trade-in on an iPhone 7 or newer. However, you may also want to consider the possibility of saving up to $1,000 thanks to a BoGo deal. To get this deal, you need a qualified activation on Unlimited plans for Verizon, and at least one new line is required. Savings will appear as a monthly bill credit, but it won’t be discounted through Best Buy at the time of purchase.
Still, if you don’t want to save on your new iPhone 12, you can also get your device on Verizon starting at $33.33/mo. For 24 months. Sprint will have you paying $34.58/mo. For two years, but if you want to pay less, you can go for AT&T’s option that will have you paying $26.67/mo. But this also means you will have to pay for 30 months.
If you head over to Apple’s online store, you will see that the iPhone 12 is selling for $799, if you buy it upfront, or you can get it with an installment plan that will have you paying $33.29 a month. However, you can also choose to trade-in an eligible device, and this will get you up to $500 depending on the device you have to offer. Unfortunately, if you want your phone to come unlocked, you will have to pay $829 before trade-in, and your monthly payments would go up to $34.54.
If you don’t want to trade-in for an instant discount against your purchase, you can also trade-in your phone for an Apple Gift Card that can be redeemed in Apple’s stores or on Apple.com.
If you’d rather buy it from your carrier, we’ve also rounded up the best carrier deals below.
If you don’t want to take up any savings, you can get your new iPhone for as low as $29.16/mo, but there are several other options to consider, since Verizon is probably the carrier that offers more ways to save on your new iPhone 12.
Now, if you want to save some cash, you can trade-in an eligible device and get a new line to get up to $750 off. You can upgrade your current device and get up to $440 off, or buy one and get $800 off the second device, and yes, you are also going to need a new line.
More importantly, Verizon is also the network with the biggest deployment of those superfast 5G speeds that Apple mentioned. Alongside a new Nationwide 5G network launched alongside the new iPhone, Verizon has the 5G Ultra-wideband mmWave network that offers speeds of up to 4Gbps in 55 cities and growing.
Well, if you want to get your new device over at AT&T, you can get the 64GB base model for $26.67/mo. However, you can save up to $700 with an eligible trade-in, which would leave your new device for just $3.33/mo if you go for the 64GB base model. If you want more storage space, you would also end up paying more, as the 128GB version and the 256GB options would cost you $28.34 and $31.67/mo, respectively, or $5 and $8.33/mo.
T-Mobile is offering up to $830 savings on your new iPhone 12 after certain conditions have been met. First, you need to join Magenta and trade-in an eligible device, which basically will get you a new iPhone for free. You will see the trade-in credits and the balance in the 24 monthly bill credits for your new phone. Of course, you will have to trade in your iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, or iPhone X in good condition to get your iPhone 12 for free. While the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will get you up to $600 off, and previous models such as the iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 6S, and the iPhone 6S Plus can get you $450 savings.
As we expected, the iPhone 12 box doesn’t come with a power adapter or wired headphones. There is a USB-C to Lightning cable, so at least there’s that? If you don’t know what USB-C is, or you’re coming from an older iPhone and haven’t got a newish iPad or Macbook, you’ll probably need a USB-C power adapter.
If wired earbuds are a must, then the lack of headphone jack means you’ll want something that’s Lightning compatible. Apple’s official EarPods are the ones you used to get in the box and cost $19, whilst the upgrade pick if you’re interested in something wireless would be the original AirPods for $125. Of course, if you want the best true wireless earbuds for the iPhone right now, look no further than the AirPods Pro, which is currently on sale at $199!

The iPhone 12 Mini turned out to be Apple’s surprise package targeted at folks yearning for a small phone that doesn’t make any major compromises. The phone delivers adequate firepower, comes equipped with reliable cameras, and offers a smooth software experience – all in a pleasingly small form factor. However, scratches and scuff marks come unannounced, and when they appear on the camera lens, they do a greater damage than just ruining the aesthetics. But don’t worry, we’ve rounded up the best iPhone 12 Mini camera lens protectors to save you the trouble of searching pages upon pages of product listings. Have a look at your options:
So, that was it about our best iPhone 12 Mini camera lens protectors list. I, for one, will personally pick the EGV 6-pack lens protector for iPhone 12 Mini. Plus, it is also made out of 9H tempered glass, which is the best you can get out there. It has a case-friendly design, offers high material clarity, and can be applied with ease.
However, if I was looking for a premium solution without any budget constraints, I would go with the Tamoria Eagle Eye series camera lens protector for the iPhone 12 Mini. Flaunting an anodized aluminum finish on the surface with a circular pattern, optical grade lens coating, nano waterproof layer, and an isolation layer as well, this scratch-resistant solution is simply the best value for your benjamins. Plus, you can color match the lens protector with your iPhone 12 Mini.

The iPhone 12 Mini was labeled by many as the perfect small phone, one that doesn’t make any major compromises and delivers the vanilla iPhone 12 experience in a more compact form factor. The excitement was high around the device, but it appears that the hype couldn’t actually convert into sales figures for Apple, says a DigiTimes report, primarily due to the pandemic taking a toll on the phone’s target market.
“Pegatron has seen a slowdown in orders for the iPhone 12 mini as sales of the model in the US and Europe are affected negatively by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to industry sources. The sources pointed out that the iPhone 12 mini is targeting mainly consumers in the US and Europe, but overall smartphone sales there have been significantly undermined by the pandemic,” the report says.
Another report claims that Foxconn has received extra orders for the iPhone 12 Pro models due to high demand. “Foxconn Technology Group (Hon Hai Precision Industry) is expected to see extra momentum in the first quarter of 2021 thanks to Apple increasing orders for the iPhone 12 Pro series, according to some market observers,” says another Digitimes report.
Apple is cutting down on iPhone 12 Mini orders, and focusing on the Pro models
Multiple analysts and research firms have also indicated that the demand for iPhone 12 Pro models is higher, and catalyzed by the lackluster performance of iPhone 12 Mini, Apple is doubling down on the bigger and more powerful Pro models. In fact, as per a Morgan Stanley note (via PED30), Apple has cut short the orders for iPhone 12 Mini, and in return, has given an equivalent bump to the order figures for the iPhone 12 Pro models.
Earlier this month, sales figures shared by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (via Macrumors) revealed that iPhone 12 Mini was the lowest-selling model in the iPhone 12 series, standing at a mere 6% of the total iPhone 12 sales in the US market during the first few months following its launch.

It seems that Apple’s latest iPhone lineup has knocked one out of the park with its latest sales report. The iPhone 12 appears to have accounted for a total of 76 percent of new iPhone sales if we focus on the time period between October and November. However, the smaller, more affordable version didn’t get the attention Apple was hoping for.
According to a new report from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP), the latest iPhone 12 lineup has done great in sales, taking up more than half of Apple’s new iPhone sales in the last few months after their launch periods. The vanilla iPhone 12 model with a 6.1-inch display was apparently the most popular device, as it managed to take up 27 percent in sales. The 12 Pro and the 12 Pro Max with a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays reached 20 percent in sales.
If we compare this year’s sales numbers with the ones delivered by the iPhone 11, we will see a clear difference. Last year’s iPhone 11 lineup managed to reach 69 percent of Apple’s total iPhone sales, which also suggests that this year’s iPhone 12 has been more successful in sales in the period after their launch. Still, comparisons may be a bit complicated, as we saw Apple changing its launch strategy during 2020 to cope with the delays caused by the ongoing pandemic.
“Compared to last year’s launch of iPhone 11 models, which accounted for 69% of sales in the period after the launch, the four iPhone 12 models did even better, with 76% of sales. However, there was no clear leader among the new models, with sales evenly distributed among iPhone 12, 12 Pro, and 12 Max. In contrast, in 2019, iPhone 11 had an incredible 39% of sales, with iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max combining for only 30% of sales.”
Unfortunately, the iPhone 12 mini didn’t do as great as the other models, as the smaller 5.4-inch version only managed to reach 6 percent of total iPhone sales during October and November. The reason for this is that the 12 mini arrived with a price tag that wasn’t as appealing to customers, as they decided that the iPhone 11 or the iPhone XR were more attractive.
“The new iPhone mini likely disappointed Apple with only 6% of sales in the period,’ said Mike Levin, CIRP Partner and cofounder. ‘It has most of the same features as the other iPhone 12 models, in a smaller form factor for $699. Its share was just above that of iPhone XR, launched in 2018 and now priced at $499, the one-year old iPhone 11, now selling for $599, and the 2nd generation iPhone SE, launched in April 2020 at $399. It seems that its higher price point compared to those three models limited the iPhone 12 mini appeal.”

The post Apple’s iPhone 12 sales did great, but not thanks to the 12 mini appeared first on Pocketnow.
The iPhone 12 Mini is being touted as Apple’s true return to form at making a compact phone, and for good reasons. Apple has not made any major compromises when it comes to the iPhone 12 Mini, save for one obvious cutback – a smaller battery. But starting at $599, this ain’t a cheap phone, so putting a case on it is a no-brainer. But if you still want to flaunt those flat sides and don’t want to impede its compact in-hand feel, a thin case is the best option. To save you the trouble of an exhaustive trip to Amazon or Best Buy, we’ve rounded up the best thin cases for the iPhone 12 Mini:
If your primary criterion is an unobtrusive case that doesn’t come in the way you of enjoying the iPhone 12 Mini’s blocky design and flaunting its color, a clear case should be your only choice. And if you’re inclined to get one, Apple’s own clear case will offer you just that. Another huge advantage is that this case supports Apple’s MagSafe charger as well as other Qi-certified charging mats.
However, if you are looking for a soft touch silicone case but don’t necessarily want to spend what Apple asks for its own MagSafe silicone case, Caseology has got you covered. Caseology’s Nano Pop Silicone case has a soft-touch surface finish and a soft lining on the inside as well. The Air Space will shield the corners against accidental drops, while the raised edges will protect the camera module. The best part? It comes in multiple colors with a really cool yet subtle two-tone finish.
In case you’ve purchased another iPhone 12 series device, we’ve also compiled some awesome lists of cases, charging accessories, screen protectors, etc, for them as well. Do check them out and let us know which one you picked. Also, drop your queries in the comments section below and we’d be happy to help.
