iQOO 7 to launch soon; BMW Special Edition could tag along

iQOO 7 has been confirmed by the company to launch soon. While it hasn’t announced a launch date yet, it has released a teaser poster revealing design details of the upcoming flagship. The teaser confirms some of the specifications of the smartphone. The iQOO 7 will sport a triple rear camera setup. Moreover, the poster hints that a BMW Special Edition could also tag along. Plus, the iQOO 7 will be the official gaming machine for the KPL Games (King Pro League) eSports event in China.

The latest development comes from Weibo where the company announced the arrival of its iQOO 7 in China. It will be the official gaming machine for the KPL Games, which is held in the autumn and spring seasons every year in the region. The poster also suggests that iQOO 7 will have three cameras at the back. These are arranged in a rectangular camera module where one camera lies above the other two sensors forming a triangular shape. Further, the company’s logo is placed right below the camera module alongside the flash. It comes with a three-colored striped finish at the back hints at a BMW Special Edition.

It could come in other finishes as well. The iQOO 7 is said to have an in-display fingerprint sensor. While other specifications of the smartphone are not known, the smartphone is likely to be a flagship. It will come as a successor to iQOO 5 series, which was launched in August 2020. For the unaware, the iQOO 5 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. Therefore, we expect the upcoming iQOO 6 to have the Snapdragon 888 under the hood. While the company also launched the iQOO 5 Pro, there is no word on the iQOO 7 Pro moniker.

Vivo’s iQOO could foray into tablet and notebook segments soon

Vivo introduced its sub-brand iQOO earlier this year. The company launched several smartphones under its name, including flagship phones like the iQOO 3. However, it looks like phones may not be the only product we will be getting from the brand.

The expectations are based on recent trademark applications. Vivo has filed trademark applications for “iQOO PAD” and “iQOOBOOK.” There are speculations that these point at new product categories – tablets and notebooks respectively. The trademark applications were filed in June according to the image below from ITHome.

Lately, Chinese smartphone manufacturers have been eyeing different product categories and expanding their business. Redmi has launched notebooks in the past and Realme could be coming with one in the future. Hence, iQOO making tablets and notebooks doesn’t come as a surprise. However, there is no official word on the development.

iQOO’s 120W FlashCharge tech can charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 15 minutes

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Earlier today, OPPO announced that it will debut its 125W fast charging technology two days from now, while its Realme spin-off has also begun teasing its own 120W charging tech. Now, VIVO’s iQoo sub-brand has demoed its own 120W FlashCharge technology in China, and the numbers we saw during the presentation have got us excited.

The company is using a dual-battery design to implement the technology that relies on a proprietary power brick to provide a voltage of 20V backed by 6A current. It passes through a charge pump and then delivers 60W (5V/12A) power to each half of the battery packed inside a smartphone.

iQoo says the 120W FlashCharge fast charging technology can juice up a 4,000mAh battery from 0-to 50% mark in just 15 minutes. The charging speed flattens a bit afterward, taking a total of 15 minutes to fully charge the battery, which is still pretty darn amazing and faster than anything we’ve come across so far.
