Moto Razr 5G gets updated to Android 11

While Google is working on Android 12, many major smartphones are yet to receive the Android 11 update. This included Moto Razr 5G. However, it is changing as the foldable device is now receiving its Android 11 update. The company has already released the update for several of its important devices. Meanwhile, Samsung is leading the pack on the Android updates side of things.

In the last few weeks, Motorola has rolled out the Android 11 update for several of its smartphones. The Motorola 5 5G Plus and Motorola One Hyper are some of the devices to have received the major update. Now, the foldable Moto Razr 5G is receiving the Android 11 update. For the unaware, Japanese telecom operator Softback has already launched a carrier-specific edition of the Motorola Razr 5G that runs Android 11 out of the box.

Now, the Moto Razr 5G has received its Android 11 update in multiple regions, including India, Australia, Europe, and several South American countries. It comes with the build number RPS31.Q1-40-17-12, and is about 1.8GB in size. While you would expect it to come out with the latest Android security patch, Motorola is releasing it with the February 2021 security patch.

The Moto Razr 5G features a unique design that actually makes it feel like a clamshell instead of a regular phone with a hinge. There is almost no gap between the hinges. It comes with a 6.2-inch plastic OLED (2,142×876 pixels) with a 21:9 aspect ratio. The crease is something you wouldn’t notice unless you happen to run your hand over it. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, paired with Adreno 620 GPU. It comes equipped with 256GB of internal storage with 8GB RAM. You get a single rear camera of 48MP with an f/1.7 aperture. Further, the smartphone packs a 2,800mAh battery with support for 18W TurboPower fast charging.

HUAWEI Developer Conference 2020 starts on September 10, exciting announcements ahead

Huawei just announced that their Developer’s Conference will be happening this year on September 10th and going on until the 12th. Sure we’re expecting products like laptops, new smartwatches, their new FreeBuds Pro, and the possibility of a new chip that we usually see at IFA, though probably no smartphones. That said, I think what’s most important here is software. If you think of it this is their developer conference and a big chunk of the story will be their future with Android. How much the AppGallery will continue to expand to serve the needs of consumers that want to continue trusting the Huawei brand.. I mean, they still are the largest smartphone maker in the world as of last quarter. And then there’s the question about Harmony OS. Just a few days ago we discussed the rumors that the company wants to make a major push here as part of their strategy, even if Android is still in the picture. The keynote will happen on their website with Richard Yu talking about their ecosystem and other products, we’ll keep you posted. Not gonna lie, I’m curious to see what the next steps are. Expect our full coverage starting tonight, and a recap on tomorrow’s Pocketnow Daily.

We have new leaked renders of the LG Wing

We’re five days away from the official announcement of the LG Wing so, leaks keep coming. Now we got some high quality renders of the phone from Evan Blass showing stuff we hadn’t seen. In this render we can see the back of the phone which houses a camera array that kinda looks like the regular Galaxy Note 20 and a color variant that reminds us of the Galaxy S10. We can also see the phone in it’s “T-Pose” state but, in this particular image there seems to be some significant bezels between the two displays, we hope that doesn’t make it to the final product. The LG Wing is launching soon with the Snapdragon 765G and a price tag around the $1000 or $1600 mark.

Apple strikes back, Epic Games now being sued for breach of contract damages

A couple of days ago, we covered how it seemed that the whole Apple vs Epic dilemma was over, even with the lawsuit still going on. However, Epic wasn’t giving up and they were asking for an injunction to get Fortnite back in the App Store. Well, Apple just decided to make another Thanos-type move. Cupertino just filed some counter-claims, where they’re requesting damages for breach of contract and other counts. They’re trying to get all of the money that was collected by Fortnite through their separate payment system. Apple claims that Epic’s lawsuit is “nothing more than a basic disagreement over money”. They stated that “Even if Epic are portraying themselves as a corporate Robin Hood, in reality they are a multi-billion dollar company that simply want to pay nothing for the tremendous value they derive from the App Store. Their demands of special treatment and cries for retaliation cannot be reconciled by their breaching of contract and their own practices, as they have bundles of up to $100 for “VBucks”. We don’t know how much Apple is asking for in damages but Epic has apparently made $600M from the App Store. As for now, we have to wait until the September 28th hearing to see what’s next, unless we get some newer developments before that.

Motorola RAZR 5G brings an upgraded 48MP camera and faster Snapdragon 765G chip

And after months of leaks and rumors, the Moto RAZR 5G is finally here. It brings a 6.2in folding display along with a 2in cover display which the company is constantly updating for new tasks like replying to texts, getting directions, media controls and more . This new phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 2800 mAh battery paired with 15W of “Turbo Power” charging. On the camera department, we have a single 48MP main shooter that’s capable of doing 4K video at 30fps and 1080p slow-mo video at 240fps. It also brings a 20MP selfie shooter on the notch at the front. It runs on Android 10, supports sub-6GHz 5G. It’ll be available for $1399 on AT&T and T-Mobile and unlocked from multiple retailers later this fall on, Blush Gold, Liquid Mercury and Polished Graphite color variants.

                        Story of the day:

Live images of Google Pixel 5s have leaked online, adding to more confusion

Yeah, we have a very confusing leak of the Google Pixel 5 “s”? The leaked image comes from a Mexican Tech Radio Host on Twitter and he also shared a video of it but it’s private now. According to our friends over at XDA and the IMEI barcode, this is a Pixel 5, but it’s not entirely clear as to why it’s listed as the 5s on the device, but it’s not the first time that name has popped up either. On the image we can see the phone laying down, showing off the camera array and the display. It looks way too similar to the 4a, as probably the only difference is the size and the double cameras on this one. It also brings the fingerprint sensor at the back and the different Google logo shows that this is a pre-production unit. According to the leaks, we’ll be getting two different variants for this phone, one for sub-6GHz which will also be more affordable and another one for mmWave 5G which will apparently be the 5s. We’re expecting this phone to launch later this month or in October, with the Snapdragon 765G, a 6in OLED display running at 90Hz, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, no leaks on the price tag yet.

Apple’s iPad Pro, iPad mini iPad Air and more devices are on sale today

Deals. Best Buy is back at it again, they just added a full list of Apple sales for Labor Day. For example, the iPad Pros are $100 off, meaning you can get the 2018 12.9in variant for $999, this is the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. Moving on, the iPad Mini is $50 off, meaning it starts at $350. The 16in MacBook Pro is up to $300 off, meaning the entry level variant with the Intel Core i5, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD starts for $1650. Finally, the Galaxy S20 deals we covered yesterday which include the Galaxy Buds+ are still live, for example the Galaxy S20+ 5G is $979 with the Buds+ included. We have more deals on Marshall’s speakers, Nintendo Switch Cases and more.

MediaTek unveils Dimensity 1000C 5G chip, goes inside T-Mobile LG Velvet

Recently, MediaTek has been pushing their Dimensity line for 5G SoCs but, it hasn’t really made it outside of the Chinese market. Well, the company just released the Dimensity 1000C and according to them, it is “developed and tailored” for the US market. It’s an octa-core chip, powered by their Mali G57 GPU and it supports up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. It allows for both 5G and Dual SIM 5G, 120Hz displays, and HDR10+ standard. Some of the other feature’s their focusing on include AV1 HDR streaming on Netflix, AV1 video streaming on YouTube and they’re working on Twitch support. It’ll be available on the T-Mobile Variant for the LG Velvet.

Motorola has teased the upcoming Moto RAZR 5G in a new poster

Motorola announced that we would be getting the Moto RAZR on September 9th but, they also announced that they would be hosting a separate event for the Chinese market on September 10th. Well, speaking on that Chinese Event, they just posted a new teaser that shows off the phone. The poster was posted to Weibo, and it has the date 9/10 written down with 7 different RAZRs. Now, this poster doesn’t really show much other than the chin of the phone and the displays which are lit up but, it also looks like there’s no new surprises here. We’re expecting the RAZR 5G to bring the Snapdragon 765G, a 2800 mAh battery and a 48MP main camera. We’ll keep you posted if we get more leaks before the launch date.

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE leak reveals all key specs, separate 4G and 5G variants

We have more leaks of the Samsung Galaxy S20 Lite, S20 FE or, whatever the actual name for this thing is going to be. Now, a new report from WinFuture gives us, pretty much everything there is to know when it comes to specs and even some renders of the phone. It’ll apparently be powered by the Exynos 990 for the LTE variant, and by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 for the 5G model. It has a similar design to the Galaxy S20, a 6.5in FHD+ display running at 120Hz, 8GB of RAM ,128GB of storage and a 4500 mAh battery. It will also bring a triple camera array at the back that consists of a 12MP main camera, a 12MP wide-angle, and a 12MP telephoto that offers 3x optical zoom as well as a 32MP selfie shooter. It might come in Blue, Green, Lavender, Orange, Red and White color variants according to this renders and we should expect it to be announced by the end of this month, with it being available in October.

OnePlus 8T leak reveals almost everything about the upcoming phone

A couple of days ago we got a render that allegedly belonged to the OnePlus 8T but, it didn’t really show anything. But, according to these new leaks, OnePlus will give us a similar design but they’ll really focus on the internals. Just keep in mind that this is the 8T and not the 8T Pro so we should compare it to the regular OnePlus 8. Apparently, it’s codenamed “Kebab” and it’ll rock a 6.55in AMOLED display running at 120Hz instead of the 90Hz we got with the 8. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage but we’ll probably get other variants with more RAM and more storage considering this is OnePlus. Now, when it comes to the cameras, we’ll reportedly get a 48MP main sensor but this will be an upgraded and different sensor than the one on the OnePlus 8, it also brings a 16MP wide-angle lens, and my favorites, a 5MP macro and a 2MP portrait lens. The launch should happen some time in the following months and, we don’t have word on the battery, charging capabilities and price tag just yet.

iPhone 12 Pro leaks reveal camera layout with LiDAR sensor and new color variant

There’s been multiple reports from trusted sources like Ming Chi Kuo, saying that we’d be getting mmWave 5G iPhone 12 models, at least on the Pros. And, we also know that these variants are the cause of some of the delays. Now, we have a conflicting report from Fast Company where they claim that only one iPhone 12 Pro Max variant will support mmWave 5G. The report mentions that “only the largest phone in the line has enough room inside for the special antenna design required for mmWave and the larger battery needed to accommodate the significant power drive from this type of 5G. They also said that only the Pro Max in the US, Korea and Japan will support mmWave 5G”. The other variant for the 12 Pro Max will only support sub 6GHz as other countries aren’t ready for mmWave just yet. This also means that the 12 Pro Max will most likely get a price hike, at least in these countries, even if Apple is removing the accessories from the box. We’ll see what we get.

Motorola has teased the upcoming Moto RAZR 5G in a new poster

We are getting closer to the launch of the new Moto RAZR 5G, less than a week away if we want to be more specific. The device would first launch globally on September 9, with a second event taking place the next day to target the Chinese market. This second event is now being teased on a poster that was recently posted by Motorola, using its upcoming devices to set the date.

We have new information concerning the Moto RAZR 5G. However, this time, the first teaser comes directly from Motorola, as the company has posted a new poster on the Chinese microblogging site Weibo. The poster shows several RAZR devices placed together to form 9.10, which corresponds to the date in which Motorola will release the new RAZR 5G in the Chinese market.

We have also seen several leaked images of the Moto RAZR 5G in the last couple of days. Maybe the best images come from Twitter user Ishan Agarwal who posted an image where the device is captured in almost every possible angle.

Other rumors claim that this new device will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 processor, better than the Snapdragon 710 chip found in its predecessor. The new foldable is also expected to include 8GB of RAM with 256GB of storage under the hood, with a 2,845 mAh battery to power the device with possible 18W fast charging support and a slightly larger display.

Further, the Moto RAZR 5G should also come equipped with a single camera that’s expected to be the 48MP Samsung ISOCELL GM1, while the new selfie camera would come with a 20MP sensor. The device will come with sub-6GHz 5G network support, which may not be as fast as nnWave 5G, but at least you will be able to find coverage much easier as you move from place to place. You can also check out the leak of AT&T’s version of the foldable phone, as it shows a detailed diagram of the device.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra bundles, Labor day deals and more today

Deals. Labor Day is close, so you know that the deals are stacked today. Samsung still has their Amazon sale going on and they have this crazy bundle where you get the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra, the Galaxy Tab S6, a Galaxy Watch Active 3 and some Galaxy Buds Live for $1911, meaning you save $477 and get three products for the price of a Galaxy Fold, lol. The rest of those deals are in the links below as, they also have deals on the S10+, Galaxy Buds+ and more. Moving on to B&H deals, you can get up to $300 off on the MacBook Pro. For example, the 13-inch MacBook Pro is $1200, for the Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage variant. The 16-inch variant is also getting a discount, meaning you can get the Intel Core i7, 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage variant for $2099. We have more labor day sales in the links below.

Google’s upcoming ‘Sabrina’ Android TV dongle could cost just $49.99 as per a retail listing

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about Google’s Android TV dongle, Sabrina. Sabrina was leaked a few months ago with a similar design to the Chromecast but it would bring full blown Android TV and Stadia Support instead of just letting you cast. Now we have an alleged price tag that actually comes from Home Depot.. (break 4th barrier.. Wait, is this right, Home Depot?.. Like, they’re doing tech now?) as they briefly listed the device for $49.99 for the Rock Candy color variant. The listing was obviously pulled, but there is still a way to access it through cache. According to other leaks, Sabrina will also come in Cosmo Blue and Summer Melon. Sadly, the launch date is still a mystery because this is a Google Product, but we could expect it at the Google Pixel 5’s Event, if we have one.

                        Apple iPhone 11 was the world’s most-shipped smartphone in H1 2020: Omdia

We have a new quarter results from Omdia this time and, let’s just say that the iPhone 11 crushed everything in it’s path. These are global sales for the first half of 2020 and the iPhone 11 took the first spot with 37.7M units sold, just to give you some perspective, the Galaxy A51 is in second place with 11.4M. Apple dominated the market with 5 spots in this top ten. Xiaomi’s Redmi had 4 more spots as well meaning that the Galaxy A51 was the only phone from another brand to reach the chart. The iPhone SE is apparently fulfilling it’s purpose as it reached the top 5 with 8.7M units. We should be getting more results for Q2 soon to see how certain markets went but, it looks like Apple killed it globally.

Motorola RAZR 5G leak tips faster Snapdragon 765G chip, better cameras and larger battery

Yesterday we got the labeled pictures from Evan Blass and now, we have even more leaks of the Moto RAZR 5G. These new leaks come from Twitter where we get some high res renders of the device along with some specs. The renders show the device from the different angles, both open and closed and even sideways. According to the tipster, it’ll bring the Snapdragon 765G, a 48MP main camera, a 20MP shooter and an upgraded 2800 mAh battery. It apparently weighs 190g and he also provided the dimensions, saying it will be 8mm thick. Yesterday we also saw some different changes like the Polished Graphite color variant and that the fingerprint sensor will be on the Moto logo. So yeah, we’re already in September so we should expect an event very soon.

Chinese government could now block TikToK sale to US companies

We’ve had a little break from our ban section after Apple literally terminated Epic but, it looks like the news are back, with Tik Tok this time. Just to refresh your memory, the president of the US signed an executive order giving the company a certain amount of time to sell their operations to a US company, or they would be banned. Tik Tok responded with a lawsuit but they were in talks with Microsoft to sell their operations as, even Walmart wanted a piece of the pie. Well, according to The Guardian, Beijing just issued new restrictions or bans on tech exports, requiring companies to seek government approval, which can take up to 30 days, to sell their operations. Apparently the rule hadn’t been changed since 2008 and it is believed that it’s aimed at delaying the Tik Tok sale. Some of the technologies they added to the export restrictions list include, AI interfaces, voice recognition and content recommendation analysis, which is exactly what Tik Tok uses. ByteDance has agreed that they will strictly abide to these regulations but they didn’t elaborate on their next move. We still don’t understand how it might work in case they don’t end up selling to the US but, we’ll assume the ban would kick in.

                        Story of the day:

Well, Part 2 was today and the Z Fold 2 is now official. Finally! First off, it brings 2 nearly bezel-less Infinity O displays with the outer display being 6.2in and the main display 7.6in, both larger than the original Fold, though only the one inside does 120hz. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 865+ SoC, 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage. It brings triple 12MP cameras at the back, which include the main sensor, a wide angle lens and a telephoto. The AirPods Pro are now $30 off on Amazon, leaving them at $220 shipped. Amazon is having tons of deals on their Echo Devices, for example, the Echo Dot is $20 off, leaving it at $30. We’ll leave the rest of the Amazon deals and more in the links in the description.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC goes official; to debut on a POCO smartphone

We know that Qualcomm is really pushing their Snapdragon 7 Series for 5G mid-rangers. Well, the company just announced a new Snapdragon 732G. This new SoC brings a Krypto 470 CPU at up to 2.3GHz and an Adreno 618 GPU which according to them, offers 15% improved graphics over the 730G. Besides these performance improvements, it also allows for Qualcomm’s Elite Gaming for ultra-realistic gameplay in over a billion shades of color. It features the 4th Gen Qualcomm AI Engine and the Snapdragon X15 LTE modem. We have the full list of technical details and specs in the links below, and this new chip is expected to debut with the leaked POCO X3 which we covered last week.

The price of the new LG Wing may not be so compelling

We’ve been getting an interesting amount of leaks for the LG Wing, considering that it is still a concept. So far we’ve gotten two videos of this dual screen-rotating device fully working from Android Authority, and now we get a possible price tag. According to a South Korean publication, the Wing will cost $1600, making it the most expensive LG phone yet. However, an anonymous source talked to XDA Developers and claims that the phone could cost $1000 in the United States which might still be the most expensive LG phone. The source also confirmed that these videos from Android Authority are the real deal. The confusing part is that, there’s still no rumors of the phone entering production or even a possible time line for the launch date. We’ll keep you posted as, the leaks just keep increasing for it.

New leaks of AT&T’s Moto RAZR 2020 have emerged

Speaking of dual screens and foldables, we’re pretty much in September already which means we’re getting closer to the new Moto RAZR. Now we have some new leaks from Evan Blass for the AT&T variant. These are fully labeled pictures of the phone and they reveal more details like the 20MP selfie shooter and the 48MP main camera. You also get to see the new design elements like the outer display which is bigger now, the slimmer bezels on the front and the fingerprint sensor is now on the Moto logo at the back. We’re expecting this phone to be powered by the Snapdragon 765G, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage with a possible launch date on September 9th.

New leaks could give us our first look at the new OnePlus 8T

Believe it or not, we’re getting closer and closer to the OnePlus 8T’s usual launch time. Well, we have some sort of a first look from OnePlus from the guys over at Android Authority. This image belongs to the Android 11 Developer Preview Source Code and it allegedly belongs to the 8T. Now, we should take these with a grain of salt as it could be a simple place holder, but it kinda looks different enough from the 8 Pro. It shows a pretty similar design but with a different color scheme, at least when it comes to the wallpaper shown and it makes sense as this is a T model. We’re expecting this phone to pack a Snapdragon 865 Plus and other spec bumps. Since we got the 8 line in April, we should be getting these in early to mid Fall, so we’re getting close.

                        Story of the day:

12-inch MacBook to make a return with ARM processors

Apple’s upcoming 10.8-inch iPad appears in leaked schematics with an iPad Pro-like design

Next Apple event would present AirTags, Apple Watch Series 6, and iPhone 12 with LiDAR sensor?

Let’s talk about Apple’s convoluted roadmap as, we have a bunch of leaks from different sources so bear with me here. Let’s start off with Apple Silicon Macs as those are coming later when compared to Cupertino’s Fall Line. According to a new supply chain report from China, the 12-inch MacBook is making a comeback as an ARM-powered machine. The report mentions that we should expect it by the end of this year with Apple’s A14X chip built on TSMC’s 5nm process. This MacBook will apparently weigh less than 1KG and it will be able to reach 15-20hrs of battery life. Moving on to next year, another report claims that we should expect an Apple Silicon iMac in the second half of 2021 with a custom GPU codenamed “Lifuka”. This iMac will apparently offer better performance and more energy efficiency than Intel models. But, now let’s move on to the announcements that should happen in a couple of weeks. We have some leaked schematics of the 10.8-inch iPad from 91Mobiles and it looks like it will adopt the iPad Pro’s design. They bring the squared design, Face ID and a USB-C port. This iPad would be the successor to the current 10.2in iPad which costs $329 and could launch along with the iPhones. Finally, according to a new MacOtakara report, Apple will be hosting an event in the latter half of October to announce the iPhone 12, the Apple Watch Series 6 and the AirTags. These leaks contradict the previous information we got from Jon Prosser where we’d get the Watch and iPads through a silent release in September and then the iPhones in October.

New leaks of AT&T’s Moto RAZR 2020 have emerged

The upcoming Moto RAZR 2020 or RAZR 5G has been leaked once again. This time we receive a labeled diagram thanks to @evleaks, which also shows the AT&T brand on the notification bar.

We keep getting more leaks of the upcoming Moto RAZR 2020. The latest leaks could be from the AT&T branded phone’s user manual. We can see that the device’s power key will be placed on the upper left side of the phone, while the volume buttons will come on the upper right side. The fingerprint sensor is almost in the same place, even though we will find it embedded in the Moto logo.

This new RAZR could be announced on September 9, and it is supposed to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 48MP primary camera. The device is also believed to have a larger 6,7-inch display and a 20MP selfie camera.
