A few weeks ago, Motorola announced that its stylish new mid-ranger, Motorola Edge, will go on sale in the US priced at $700 in an unlocked state starting July 31. Today, the company has put the Motorola Edge up for pre-orders with a sweet $200 discount, bringing its price down to just $500, but only for a limited time.
Right now, you can pre-order the Motorola Edge from the company’s official website, Best Buy and B&H, with shipments expected to begin on July 31. However, it is unclear for how long the limited-time $200 discount will be available, but this doesn’t seem like a permanent price cut by any stretch of the imagination.
As for the device itself, you get an eye-catching curved glass build on both sides with the Snapdragon 765 processor at its heart and a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate on the front. There is a triple rear camera setup at the back that includes a 64MP main snapper, assisted by a 16MP wide-angle lens and an 8MP telephoto camera.

Motorola Edge’s price has finally been revealed – it will cost $699.99 in the US for an unlocked unit. However, Motorola has not revealed a concrete market availability plan, except for the vague ‘summer’ release that was promised when the phone made its debut earlier this year alongside the Motorola Edge+ flagship.
Aside from the price reveal, the Motorola Edge has also received an internal upgrade. Instead of the 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage that was originally promised, the Motorola Edge will now ship with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage. However, the rest of the package remains the same.
The IP54-certified Motorola Edge features a 6.7-inch FHD+ curved OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 chip. There is a 64MP camera at the back, accompanied by a 16MP ultra wide-angle lens and an 8MP telephoto lens, while selfies are handled by a 25MP snapper.

Samsung courted quite a loathing recently from Galaxy S20 Ultra users complaining about a green tint issue on their $1,500 phone’s display. Now, users of the Motorola Edge+ flagship are also reporting similar display issues, but this time, it is more severe and easily visible to the naked eyes compared to the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s ‘display-gate.’
On the official Motorola forum, multiple users have reported seeing purple spots around the edges. Plus, some users are facing a green tint issue that gives almost the entire screen a very distinct greenish tone. Motorola rolled out a corrective update that promised to improve display contrast and clarity, but it appears to have only partially fixed the problem for a select few users.
A Motorola forum admin mentioned that the update fixed the issues for a few users, but noted that the problem might be too advanced in some cases to be fixed by an update, hinting that it might be due to faulty hardware. Affected Motorola Edge+ users were advised to get a replacement unit if the software update doesn’t resolve the issue. But it appears that some users are facing the display spotting problem on the replacement unit as well.
