120Hz ProMotion displays may arrive with iPhone 13 lineup

You can easily find 120Hz refresh rate displays in several Android smartphones in today’s market. I mean, you can even find it in the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S20 Fan Edition, which is a $699 device that could easily compete in the sub-flagship or high-tier mid-ranger smartphone section, if such thing exists. Still, rumors claim that you won’t find this feature in any upcoming iPhone 12 model, and it seems that Apple fans will have to wait until next year’s iPhone 13 to get 120Hz refresh rate displays.

Analyst Ross Young has come forward to tell Apple fans, and the world, that 120Hz refresh rate displays will finally arrive to iPhones in 2021. He believes that next year’s iPhones will feature 120Hz ProMotion displays, and he also gave us a chart showing several important details about these devices. We can easily see that Apple may be preparing a new iPhone lineup that would follow the footprints of this year’s iPhone 12, as we would start with a 5.42-inch iPhone 13 mini, two 6.06-inch versions, and the larger 6.67-inch iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Every new iPhone 13 variant is also expected to feature Y-Octa technology in their displays, which would be provided by Samsung. The most significant development would be the adoption of 120Hz-capable ProMotion displays that will be accommodated by the adoption of LTPO display technology.

“The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini will reportedly gain the same camera sensors as the iPhone 12 Pro Max, while the sensor size of both Pro models will increase. This means that there will be significant camera improvements on all models.”

Now, there are going to be several differences between the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, and the higher-end 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max, as the first two would lack ToF sensors, and they would only include Sub-6GHz 5G connectivity, while the more expensive models will support both Sub6 and mmWave 5G. The iPhone 13 Pro and 13 Pro Max would also feature a Time of Light camera sensor and maybe a LiDAR sensor.

Unfortunately, we won’t see an iPhone SE refresh next year, as Young believes that the iPhone SE 3 will arrive sometime in Spring 2022, and it will feature a 6.06-inch LCD, and yes, it would also feature sub6-GHz 5G connectivity and TouchID.

Nokia 9.3 PureView could feature 8K video recording, improved Pro and Night Modes

We’ve been getting a good amount of leaks of the upcoming Nokia 9.3 PureView. According to a new report, the 9.3 might be able to capture 8K video at 30fps. The problem is that the source claims that the feature is currently only available on a prototype variant and may not make it to the final product. However, Nokia’s imaging team said that they are hard at work on their Night Mode and Pro Modes. The phone is expected to bring a 64MP or 108MP main sensor and we’re expecting it sometime later this year.

A new, Samsung Galaxy Fold Lite may be coming for less than $1,100

According to a new tweet, Samsung might be working on a Lite and affordable variant of the Galaxy Fold. We’ve been hearing codenames for the longest time including Winner2 and Winner2 5G. According to the tipster, the regular Winner2 might correspond to a Galaxy Fold 2 Lite instead of the actual Galaxy Fold 2. The Fold Lite would aim to go on sale for $1099 by using a mix of components that includes components from 2018, 2019 and 2020 and it also won’t benefit from Samsung’s Ultra Thin Glass. This Fold would bring 256GB of storage and it may or may not bring the Snapdragon 865. It would be built out of aluminum and bring a considerably small cover display, kind of like the Z Flips.

Apple’s new AirPods Studio may include head and neck detention

We have a new report with positive rumors for the AirPods Studio. Apparently these will bring Head and Neck detection, similar to the AirPods and AirPods Pro Ear Detection, which pauses a song once you take one of them out. The Studios would know when you have them on your head and will pause whatever you’re playing if you move them over to your neck. Another sensor will also detect your left and right ear to immediately adjust the audio channels, so there is no wrong or right way to put them on. Once you pair them they will apparently also bring a customizable EQ as well. Other rumored features include ANC and those interchangeable bands we discussed yesterday.

Story of the day:

POCO F2 Pro with Snapdragon 865 SoC goes official for €499

After almost two years, the successor to the POCO F1 is finally here. The POCO F2 Pro was announced today and it’s not as bad as we thought. It brings a 6.67in Full HD+ display which achieves a 92.7% screen to body ratio. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 865, either 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage, or 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 256GB of storage along with a 4700 mAh battery. It brings a 64MP main sensor at the back, a 7MP ultra wide, a 2MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro lens. It brings an on-display fingerprint scanner, dual Sim capabilities, a headphone jack and more. It will be available in 4 different color variants starting at €499 and going up to €599 for the higher tier variant. It will roll out globally starting today. For comparison, if you try to buy an iPhone SE in Italy, it’ll start at the same €499 with other countries like Germany having it for €479 for an old design with no 5G support. Just like in India where the F2 Pro starts at Rs 40,740 while the SE will cost you Rs 42,500.

Moto X+1 returns in new video appearances

Earlier this week, the Moto X successor we’ve been following as the X+1 broke cover and starred in a brief video showing off its boot animation. While the idea of seeing this handset in the flesh was fascinating, there ultimately wasn’t a lot for us to check out, due to the necessary steps taken to obscure enough of the hardware to avoid showing any identifying marks that might clue Motorola in to the tipster’s identity. We were promised that more videos were coming, and now we’ve ...

Nokia X (Normandy) rumored to launch this month

Just a few months back, suggesting that Nokia would be releasing an Android-based smartphone could be seen as fighting words. Despite all odds, the rumor hasn’t only stuck around, but it’s since built up a sizable body of evidence backing it up, and at this point the model we’ve been following as codename Normandy – hardware that may launch as the Nokia X – seems very much real. But even if the phone really will be hitting retail, just when might that be?
