Should HTC branch out from smartphones?

HTC has been making smartphones for a very long time. The company was often used by big-name OEMs as the manufacturing company that built their hardware. Compaq and HP (back when they were in the personal digital assistant business) both used HTC to build their devices, which were arguably some of the best pieces of consumer electronics of the day. But what about an HTC tablet?HTC TabletsHTC has made some very high-end smartphones recently. The

HTC Nexus tablet could be just over a month away

We’re looking forward to a ton of hardware launches about to get underway, not just at IFA itself in early September, but also at other events taking place in the same general timeframe: Motorola’s Chicago event, or maybe even that rumored Apple event a few days later. But then there are also new devices we’re expecting that aren’t yet attached to any particular launch event – stuff like the new Nexus phone and tablet. Heck, knowing Google there might not be any big to-do at all, ...

New HTC Nexus tablet hardware rumors emerge, as regulatory evidence builds

Early last month, rumors suggested that this HTC-made Nexus tablet we keep hearing about was going to be a hardware powerhouse, boasting specs like an unheard-of 5GB of RAM and 64-bit NVIDIA K1 SoC. Only problem was, that source was quickly identified as a phony. Since then we’ve talked a little more about HTC’s plans for multiple tablets, but today we’re ...

Could Nexus 8 confirmation really come this easily?

What’s next for Google’s tablet aspirations? We’re nearly a year removed from the launch of the second-gen Nexus 7, and it’s still uncertain where Google intends to go from here. Rumors have long talked about the possibilities of a Nexus 8 or Nexus 9, and while a fair amount of circumstantial evidence has accompanied those theories, it’s been notoriously difficult to talk with much certainty about the next ...

Nexus 8 could still be coming, but no one seems to know when

Are you happy with the hardware we saw emerge from Google I/O? Granted, it’s a very different event than anything along the lines of an MWC or a CES, but we still often look forward to seeing one or two devices with close Google ties emerge from the conference. And while in the past those have included things like Nexus tablets, this year the rumored spread failed to emerge: no Nexus 8, nor even a Nexus 9 (or was there?). But were ...

Nexus 6, Nexus 8 names show up in source files (but that may fall short of confirmation)

When it comes to the next generation of Nexus-series Android devices, questions abound. Will the Nexus 6 really be another LG model, drawing from the soon-to-launch G3? And what about a new tablet? Could HTC really be making it this time around, and is this the model we’ve seen referred to as codename Flounder? And if it’s an 8.9-inch model, would it be the Nexus 8 or Nexus 9? It’s going to be a while before we have all of those answers, but ...
