OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series start receiving another OxygenOS 11 update

OnePlus recently rolled out the Android 11 update for its OnePlus 7 series. The devices started receiving the OxygenOS 11 update that is based on Android 11 after four beta releases. However, it had a buggy rollout. Now, the company is replacing it with a new OxygenOS 11 update. OnePlus is rolling out OxygenOS 11.0.0.2 hotfix build that replaces the previous release for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series. It addresses some of the bugs found in the original Android 11 update. Further, you get an updated Android security patch to March 2021.

    • Added the shortcut key for Dark Mode, pull down the quick setting to enable
    • Supporting automatically turn on feature & customize time range (path: Settings – Display – Dark Mode – Turn on automatically – Automatically enable from sunset to sunrise/Custom time range)
  • Game Space
    • Newly added gaming tools box for convenient switches of Fnatic mode. You can now choose three ways of notifications: text-only heads up, and block, just for your immersive gaming experience
    • Newly added quick reply feature in a small window for Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram (Enable it by swiping down from upper right/left corners of the screen in gaming mode)
    • Newly added mis-touch prevention feature. Enable it, swipe down from the top of the screen, click and the notification bar will pop out
  • Shelf
    • Newly shelf interface design, the interface is clearer
    • Added weather widget, animation effect smarter
  • Gallery
    • Supporting Story function, automatically form weekly videos with photos and video in storage

OnePlus 7, 7 Pro start receiving Android 11 update

OnePllus is finally rolling out the Android 11 update for its OnePlus 7 series that includes the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro. These are the company’s flagship smartphones from the first half of 2019. Both smartphones were launched with Android 9 Pie, and received the Android 10 update last year.

Now, the OnePlus 7 duo has started receiving the OxygenOS 11 update that is based on Android 11. It comes after four beta releases. The update brings a slew of new features including Dark Mode scheduler, redesigned Shelf, new Weather widget, new Game Space features, a quick toggle for Dark Mode, and more. OnePlus 7, 7 Pro get a taste of Android 11 with OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 update

Earlier this month, OnePlus revealed that it was working on fixing issues encountered while porting the Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update for the OnePlus 7 series. Well, it appears that OnePlus has finally managed to overcome the hurdles, as the company has started the rollout of OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro.

The Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 1 update for the OnePlus 7 and its Pro sibling brings a design overhaul and a tonne of new features such as HEVC codec support, new Canvas feature for Ambient display, shortcut key for Dark Mode, story function in the Gallery app among others. 3. Always-On-Display feature is under internal test and will be released in subsequent versions. In this build, you can use the “Ambient Display” by picking up your phone or tapping the screen, it can be turned on in the Settings.

But do keep in mind that the update is only available for unlocked OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro units. Also, be warned that the update comes with a host of issues such as system instability, higher than usual power consumption, slow-loading in the Gallery app, and intermittent connectivity issues with Bluetooth accessories to name a few. OxygenOS Open Beta for OnePlus 7, 7T series May Android security patch

OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series is now receiving the OxygenOS Open Beta 14 and 4 respectively. Though the build numbers for the phones in both the series are different, the changelog is similar.

The update fixes missing contacts problem, voice input issue and more.
