The US government’s stance on Huawei is screwing consumers

I'm sure that the US government agencies had the right intention when they issued their warning against Huawei, but they didn't offer any evidence to back up their claims. This is how the US government's stance on Huawei is screwing consumers.

Huawei’s Android Nougat to debut on P9, Mate 8 today in China

With all the fuss about betas and super software updates from Google, Samsung, HTC and Lenovo (among others), we haven’t really covered the Android Nougat path for Huawei’s hardware.

The Huawei Mate 9 already features the smarter and cleaner EMUI 5.0 on top of Android 7.0, though, so its’ only a matter of time that the P9, Mate 8 and other entries from Honor get their fixings. But how much time?

Apparently, the software roadmap puts us closer than you might think. According to a thread on the Chinese Huawei Club forums, the P9 and Mate 8 will get their official Nougat updates today. The Honor 8 and V8 are going through their first full beta builds right now and so is the Huawei P9 Plus. The mid-range Huawei Nova is currently shuttling its first betas out as well. We presume more phones will be tacked onto that list as time goes on.

Keep in mind that these dates are not global, so we’ll probably have to bide our time elsewhere.

A lucky 9 million Huawei P9 sales in just seven months

If Lenovo thinks that a few months of work for 1 million Moto Z sales isn’t too shabby, Huawei is about to leap that company over with more than 9 million sales for one single smartphone model.

That model is the Huawei P9, the company’s first phone featuring a Leica-endorsed dual-camera system. Combined with competent specifications and continued brand hype, we shouldn’t be surprised that a six-month-old model (turning seven) is still going strong.

It ain’t the iPhone and it ain’t 70-million-unit-selling Apple, but it’s definitely something Huawei can be proud of, given that its overall mobile sales are now well into the nine digits at the end of 2016. And we’re close to seeing the Huawei Mate 9 with a Leica redux hit the market.

Global Huawei P9 sales top 6 million in under five months

For Huawei, averaging better than a million sales a month sounds like a pretty good milestone to clutch in September for a smartphone that was launched in April. Growth has been steady since the manufacturer reported its six-week sales figure of 2.6 million for the P9 and P9 Plus.In a statement to GSMArena, the company noted that the Leica-endorsed P9 has notched some 6 million sales. We’re not exactly sure if both variants are included in that figure.Huawei’s CEO expects the P9 to

Galaxy S7 Edge rules best-selling Android smartphone list, surprisingly followed by J2

A number of research firms have come out with their Q2 or overall H1 2016 smartphone sales reports, unanimously concluding Android as a whole continued to surge, while iOS lost a bit of steam, and Windows plunged closer than ever to absolute market irrelevance. As far as OEMs go, Samsung enjoyed a couple of

Samsung sets up battery test, Galaxy S7 wins it (of course)

When a company compares its phones to the competition, it would probably do best to leave out any point that could be considered a “con”. Samsung Deutschland are pretty aware of that, but we’d figure to go through its latest video of a “battery test” anyways. In comparing the performance of the
