Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is still $325, more Android phones are also on sale

Save big bucks on Apple’s M1 Mac mini, Dell computers and more

iPhone 12 BOGO deals, iPad Pros and more devices are also on sale

Of course, the news today begin with deals, cause you know those haven’t stopped being great. Let’s start with Verizon which has a Buy One Get One Free deal for the iPhone 12 where you get the second phone and a bonus 250 dollars in credit. Moving on to Amazon for a second, the M1 Mac mini is currently 100 dollars off, leaving it at 800 shipped. Samsung is still running their Spring Deals where you can get the Galaxy S21 for 100 bucks, the S21 Plus for 300 bucks and the Ultra for 500 bucks, if you have an eligible device for trade-in. Back to Amazon, the OnePlus 8 is 200 dollars off, leaving it at 500 bucks. And we have more deals on iPads, Amazon Echo Speakers, other Samsung products and more.

Samsung’s app confirms a new pair of wireless earbuds are coming soon

Let’s move the spotlight on to Samsung as, it looks like the company wants to expand their wireless earbuds market. So far they have 4 models out with the Buds, Buds+, Buds Live and the new Buds Pro, which happen to be my favorite out of the bunch. Now it looks like those regular Buds are getting a refresh. The guys from Android Police just did a teardown on the Galaxy Wearable’s app APK where you can see multiple references to some “Galaxy Buds 2” which are apparently codenamed Berry. According to the report we could expect these around the end of the year with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 with some updated features like multi-point connectivity, better call quality and better water resistance. We have no leaks on design so far but, they should look pretty similar to their predecessors considering Samsung’s other buds. We’ll see what we get.

Xiaomi’s Mi MIX Fold is an inward-folding smartphone like the Galaxy Z Fold2

Moving back to official news, let’s talk about Xiaomi as after years of concepts, the company finally launched their first foldable smartphone, the Mi MIX Fold. The Mix Fold brings an inward folding design, kind of like what you get from Samsung’s Z Fold. It brings an 8-inch main display running at 60 Hz, and a 6.5-inch cover display running at 90Hz. It is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 with up to 16 Gigs of RAM and half a terabyte of storage, along with a 5020 mAh battery. When it comes to the cameras, Xiaomi is bringing a triple setup with a 108MP main sensor, a 13MP ultra wide and an 8MP “liquid lens” that offers 3x optical zoom and doubles as a macro lens. Now, Xiaomi is offering new features to let you take advantage of the larger canvas like a dedicated “desktop mode” that turns it into well.. A desktop instead of the regular Android UI. It is set to be available in China for around 1521 dollars but, we have no word on a global release. But yeah man that price tag doesn’t sound so bad when compared to others.

The next-gen Apple chip powering iPhone 13 enters production in May

Once again, we’ll be splitting the hottest news into 2 Apple segments because.. Sometimes they’re worth it? According to a new report from DigiTimes, Apple’s A15 chip will begin production in May which aligns with Cupertino’s usual fall timeline. Now, the A15 will still be built on the same 5nm architecture we got on the A14 and the M1 chips but, we should still see improvements when it comes to performance and efficiency through the silicon’s design. However, the report mentions that Cupertino has already ordered TSMC’s 4 nanometer chips which will begin production in late 2021. The report speculates that these will be first used in a new generation of Mac chips that we could expect in Spring 2022. So yeah, we could reportedly expect new Macs with 4nm chips next Spring, though let’s hope that Spring event does happen.

Story of the day:

Mark your calendars! Apple WWDC 2021 starts June 7 as an online-only event

And Finally for the hottest news today, part 2, and speaking of Spring, for the hottest news today let’s talk Apple and Events but.. It’s not what we were expecting. Now that the March event didn’t happen, we’ve been waiting for some sort of announcement from Cupertino and well, the company just sent out press invitations for WWDC 2021 which will be an online-only event once again, happening from June 7th to June 11th. Apple says that they will be offering “unique insight into the future of: iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS.” Pretty much like last year they’re expecting around 28 million developers to join the show and that’s all great but let’s speculate for a minute. For the past couple of year’s we’ve had major announcements like the return of the Mac Pro, and the Apple Silicon transition this year. And right now, Apple has a ton of products in the pipe line like those new iPad Pros, the AirTags, new AirPods which I won’t count out even from a silent release at least by Thursday.

Samsung to launch Galaxy Buds refresh with noise cancellation alongside Galaxy S21

Samsung has been launching true wireless earbuds with each new flagship smartphone series for the past couple of years, dating back to 2018 when it launched the Gear Icon X. It appears that Samsung will continue the trend when it launches the Galaxy S21 series early next year. As per a SamMobile report, Samsung is planning a successor to the Galaxy Buds+ that will debut at the next Galaxy Unpacked event for the Galaxy S21 family’s debut that will reportedly be held in January

Notably, the new Galaxy Buds true wireless earbuds will come with two major improvements – ANC and an improved ambient mode. To recall, the first-gen Galaxy Buds and the Galaxy Buds+, both miss out on Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which was a major disappointment since a host of other brands offered earbuds with ANC around the same price point. Samsung is reportedly going to address that shortcoming with its next true wireless earbuds.

Improved ambient mode and ANC, finally!

The Galaxy Buds+ successor is expected to rock the same in-ear design, which is good news, as that approach blocks the ear-canal more effectively to provide a batter noise cancellation experience. The bean-shaped Galaxy Buds Live also offer ANC, but many users pointed out that their cancellation is not up to the mark, primarily due to the half in-ear design. While Samsung’s approach was novel and the Galaxy Buds Live delivered on many other parameters, their design proved to be an undoing for their noise cancellation prowess.

SamMobile’s report also adds that the new Galaxy Buds series earbuds will also offer an improved ambient mode. In case you’re unfamiliar, ambient or awareness mode allows the passage of external sounds through the earbuds, ensuring that users are aware of what’s happening in their surroundings. However, it is unclear how much they will cost, and if Samsung is going to refresh the color palette this time around.

According to a leaked image of a flier, Samsung Indonesia may be planning on giving out free Samsung Galaxy Buds Live or Galaxy Buds+ for pre-orders of the new Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. The company would give e-vouchers with pre-order confirmations, and these would cover the full price of any of the earphones mentioned above. Today’s deals include the 13-inch MacBook Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10

The offical news today begin with deals on a ton of products, some great, some good. On the good list, well B&H currently has the 2019 13in MacBook Pro for $300 off. This is the 4-Thunderbolt 3 ports, Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage variant, leaving it at $1499 shipped. Yeah good because if you look at the newer one, that’s the better buy. Amazon has the 512GB Samsung Galaxy S10 for $300 off as well, leaving it at $700, though if you dig deeper, you can get the same S10 for $808 with the Galaxy Buds bundled. We also have more deals on Acer Laptops, Monitors, Nintendo Switch controllers and more in the link in the description.

It’s official! OnePlus will no longer make McLaren Edition smartphones

Earlier this month we covered how OnePlus’ name wasn’t on McLaren’s list of collaborators anymore. Now, a McLaren spokesperson just went on record and officially stated that their partnership has come to an end. According to him, it came to their scheduled conclusion and that OnePlus has been supportive and that they wish to see them in the future. We got two phones out of their partnership and we don’t know how they’ll handle the Concept One if it ever comes out, since yes, that was a McLaren phone.

Sony schedules a PlayStation 5 game reveal event on June 5

And listen, if there’s a time for gaming consoles, it’s now, as we need to stay at home, and it seems Sony is willing to bank on it. The company just announced that they’ll be hosting an event on June 4th for the PlayStation 5. Sony is promising to showcase ‘the future of gaming’ at this event which typically means that we’ll be seeing some games for the upcoming console. We haven’t gotten any other details from Sony but a recent report claims that they might show a total of 38 games including a bunch of exclusives. The event will be live on YouTube and Twitch and we hope to get to see some hardware as well. Let’s also hope that hardware is not crazy expensive, as that would be unrealistic in today’s economy.

Apple needs an urgent supply of LCD panels from LG Display

It looks like the pandemic is affecting Apple in sales but not in the conventional way. Cupertino originally cut orders for their products in Q2 to anticipate the pandemic. What they didn’t anticipate is that due to the transition to e-learning, iPad stocks in China have been down since March because most parents have bought one for their kids to attend school from home. This would be good for Apple if they wouldn’t have cut orders before, and now they’re urgently asking LG for LCD panels to meet their iPad demands. The problem is, these requests usually come three months in advance to give room for LG to prepare. Apple has other providers for the iPad displays like BOE and Sharp, but LG might want to answer this because of their deal to supply displays for the iPhone 12 Max. Clearly this is a good problem to have right now.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20+ cameras leaked?

According to this new leak, the Galaxy Note 20 will fix some of the focusing issues we had with the S20 Ultra from a hardware perspective. The leak gives us both of the camera arrays, the regular Note 20 will apparently bring a 12MP main sensor, a 64MP telephoto, and a 12MP Ultra Wide. On the other side, the Note 20+ will bring the 108MP main sensor, a 12MP telephoto, a 12MP ultra wide and laser autofocus. The laser autofocus would help the main sensor to lock into subjects and while the 12MP telephoto doesn’t sound as impressive in paper as the S20 Ultras 48MP, the 12MP telephoto might help out during pixel binning as the Ultra does create 12MP images after all. It looks like the camera won’t be that different from the S20’s, let’s just hope they refine it. Now if only they included the return of variable aperture. A sensor this large needs it.

            Story of the day:

Pixel 4a XL leaks show what the phone looked like before it was canceled

And finally the most interesting news today have to do with the Google Pixel 4a XL. I know, that one that apparently won’t get to ever be. Most of the leaks have hinted that there won’t be a 4a XL variant this year but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t in development. We have some leaked images from 9to5Google of Pixel 4a cases where we see the familiar design. It has the orange Power button, the hole for the fingerprint scanner at the back and the 3.5mm headphone jack. However, the camera cutout shows too lenses here and we’re only expecting a single shooter for the 4a. We also have some CAD renders of the phone which show the dual lens camera and the punch hole at the front. Why dual cameras on this phone and not on the small variant is a good question, but even more important, why do you think Google cancelled this phone?

A few weeks ago, Samsung’s Galaxy Buds+ earbuds sporting a deep blue finish were spotted in the form of animations in the SmartThings app’s code. Well, they are now real. Samsung has launched the Aura Blue version of the Galaxy Buds+ true wireless earbuds and they’re already on sale in the US.

The Aura Blue Galaxy Buds+ are now up for grabs from Best Buy at $149.99, the same amount you’ll pay for the other color options that include the cool new Red shade and the Light Blue variant. Samsung has equipped it with two-way dynamic speakers (tweeter+woofer) and 3 microphones (2 outer+1 inner), but sadly, there is no Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) here.
