Amazon is currently offering an unlocked version of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G (128GB storage variant) with a $150.99 discount in tow. And in case you’re wondering, all six color options of the device are up for grabs right now.

Additionally, if you have an older smartphone lying around that you wish to upgrade for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G, you should head over to the official Samsung online store. Plus, if you avail this offer, you will also get a $100 Samsung Store credit that you can use towards the purchase of accessories such as wireless earbuds. The price remains the same if you choose an unlocked unit, or go with a carrier-locked model for Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, US Cellular, or Sprint.

Going by the on-paper specifications and from my own personal experience with the device, the Galaxy S20 FE is a great package. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G offers flagship performance, three cameras and a 120Hz display at $699

Samsung has officially lifted the covers from its ‘Lite’ (or ‘sub-flagship’ or whatever class it falls under) during its Galaxy Unpacked for Every Fan. Welcome, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G aka Fan Edition. Now, almost all aspects of this device, such as specifications, images, and even the price were leaked days ago. But all that aside, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G sure looks like a device that will take the fight to OnePlus both in terms of pricing and hardware. So, let’s dive right into it.

The build is IP68 rated and the design is also familiar, thanks to the flat Infinity-O display up front and a Galaxy S20-esque camera module at the back. The rear panel flaunts what Samsung calls a ‘Haze’ finish that is soft to touch and has matte look. The 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED display offers FHD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution that translates to a pixel density of 407 PPI. Notably, the screen offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a feature it borrows from the vanilla Galaxy S20 series phones.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 drives the whole system, while the X55 modem also brings 5G connectivity to the table. It is accompanied by 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of onboard storage. Thankfully, you can expand the storage by another 1TB via a microSD card. The Galaxy S20 FE 5G comes equipped with a 4,500mAh battery that supports Wireless Charging 2.0 as well as reverse wireless charging.

Over at the back, you’ll find three cameras, while selfies and video calls are handled by a 32MP front camera that also supports Live Focus and skin tone adjustment. The primary camera at the back uses a 12MP sensor that is optically stabilized. It is accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 123-degree field of view. Finally, there’s an optically-stabilized 8MP telephoto camera that provides up to 3x optical zoom and 30x Super Resolution Zoom. Plus, you get the usual set of camera features such as Night Mode, Single Take and self-portrait.

Plus, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G also brings support for wireless DeX and Google’s new Nearby Share feature for wirelessly sharing files. The Galaxy S20 FE comes in Cloud Red, Cloud Orange, Cloud Lavender, Cloud Mint, Cloud Navy and Cloud White colors. Priced at $699, pre-orders start today and the device goes on sale starting October 2 via Samsung.com, carriers and retailers online. Samsung has also launched a 4G-only version called Galaxy S20 FE that is powered by an Exynos chip, but details about its pricing and availability are not known yet.

OnePlus Nord N10 5G with a 90Hz display, 64MP camera coming soon for under $400: Report

OnePlus Buds Z to be company’s budget TWS earphones: Rumor

OnePlus made a lot of buzz with the Nord earlier this year and, apparently they want to keep that up. We know that Carl Pei confirmed that we’d be getting more Nord devices and now, a new report from Android Central gives us more details on that possible device. It’ll reportedly be called the OnePlus Nord N10 5G and it will bring a 6.49in FHD+ display running at 90Hz, the Snapdragon 690 SoC, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It’ll apparently bring quad cameras at the back, with a main 64MP sensor, an 8MP ultra wide and of course, my favorites, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro. Finally, the report claims that this device would be priced under the $400 mark to compete with the iPhone SE and the Pixel 4a. But, that’s not it, Max J is back at it again teasing a new OnePlus product. In his typical fashion he tweeted out the word BudZ which were also spotted by XDA in the Oxygen OS 11 Beta. Apparently these would be a more affordable version of the OnePlus Buds which are already pretty affordable. So far we have no specs for them just yet but, we hope they get a new design to avoid any other customs incidents.

OnePlus 8T launch date is October 14: Report

Let’s continue talking about OnePlus but about a more familiar device this time. We’ve been getting a lot of leaks for the OnePlus 8T, first we got some specs for it and then we got some CAD renders, revealing the design changes. Well, according to a new report from MySmartPrice and a very reliable tipster, we’ll be getting this device on October 14th. The 8T will reportedly feature a 6.55in FHD+ flat display running at 120Hz. It’ll be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, not the Plus, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. We’ll also be getting a new quad camera stove-module that consists of a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP wide angle shooter and again, my personal favorites, a whopping 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP portrait camera. It’ll also pack a 4800 mAh battery and it’ll run on the latest Oxygen OS 11, meaning Android 11.

Infographic reveals everything about the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G

We’ve been covering a lot of leaks of the Galaxy S20 FE, and I mean a lot. Now, Evan Blass just shared us the full infographic for the device which gives us, well everything. These new leaks serve as confirmation for the ones we’ve had before, including the 6.5in AMOLED display running at 120Hz, an Exynos 990 for the LTE variant, and the Snapdragon 865 for the 5G model. It also packs a 4500 mAh battery and an IP rating. We have a triple camera setup and the back which includes two 12MP shooters and an 8MP telephoto. It has a pretty similar design to the Galaxy S20 but with a flat display and the camera module kinda looks like the one on the regular Note 20. Apparently it’s getting it’s own Unpacked Event on September 23rd and it is rumored to start at €700.

Apple could have new magnetic wireless charger in the works

We know that Apple failed with AirPower after they announced it a crazy three years ago and we know that rumors for it have sparked up again. However, it looks like Apple might be working on a totally different form factor. 9to5Mac has posted a new video that claims to be of a “magnetic wireless charger prototype”. Honestly, it kinda looks like one of the AirTags but, we’re expecting those to be way smaller so that’s pretty much ruled out. It’s a flat white disc with somewhat of a connector at the back. The circular shape of course resembles the Qi connector on the back of iPhones and with that connector it kinda looks like it might be part of a larger accessory. Now, remember that we have had leaks of ring magnets on the back of the iPhone 12 to help it stay in place when you’re wirelessly charging it and this might be related. We don’t know if this is a new form of AirPower or what, but it definitely looks interesting.

Story of the day:

USA bans TikTok, WeChat from Play Store and App Store

And finally for the most controversial news today, let’s talk Ban Section and everything you should know. Let’s rewind a little bit so you’re aware of everything that’s been going on today. Some time ago, the President of the US gave an executive order to ByteDance, to sell their US operations of TikTok to an American Company, or they would be banned. There were several reports that Microsoft or Oracle would buy them, saying that it was practically a done deal but, TikTok didn’t want to sell. In the mean time they chose to sue the government and China also change their regulations, so they were only able to sell if they had permission from the Chinese government. Also, remember that WeChat was also getting banned and, earlier on we covered how that might affect Apple. Well, in a new press release, and we’re going to try to stay as far away from the political jargon as we can the US Department of commerce said “Today’s announced prohibitions, when combined, protect users in the U.S. by eliminating access to these applications and significantly reducing their functionality. So as of September 20 for WeChat and as of November 12 for Tiktok, they will be prohibited basically hosting services or provisioning content for their US application. The Department of Commerce said that they are doing this because of security due to the risk these apps possess. This basically means that they will ban you from downloading the app from both, the App Store and the PlayStore in the United States. We’re not exactly sure if you’ll still be able to fully use the app in the US but, if you’re in another country you’ll be able to get it.

HUAWEI details HMS Core’s gaming potential

HUAWEI HMS Core boosts its e-commerce capabilities using AR and ML

HUAWEI HMS Core is driving transport and navigation advancements

And yes, it was day two of the Huawei Developer’s Conference and today their main focus was their HMS Core. Just to clarify, HMS is to their services and AppGallery, what GMS is to Google Play. First off they announced how they’re boosting e-commerce and businesses by using AI and AR kits integrated into HMS. This lets developers tweak their apps to be able to display products in a visual way on their device, allowing for a more immersive experience, scanning products through QR codes and more. They also announced some gaming improvements to the HMS Core. For example, they claim that smartphones are closing in on consoles when it comes to processing prowess and so they want to push gaming. They’re simplifying mobile game creation with their new Cocos Creator which is a free open source game engine, allowing developers to publish games through different mobile platforms. They claim that the App Gallery is promoting developers to 490M monthly users, and sharing 85% of the revenue. And, they didn’t stop there, they also showed transport and navigation announcements. With their new Location kit, Nearby kit, Scan kit and more, they’re facilitating the development of transportation apps, available in multiple languages and countries. We’ll keep you posted once we get more information on how developers are taking advantages of these new features.

Google Pixel 3 users report swollen batteries that are damaging the real panel

We know that the Pixel 2 had a lot of issues when it was released, luckily that wasn’t the case for the Pixel 3, at least until now. There’s multiple users complaining of swollen batteries that are damaging the phone’s rear panel. It was first spotted by the guys over at Android Police, where they found a Google forum post with the affected user. After that, a lot of users came out with the same issue on both the 3 and the 3 XL. Apparently wireless charging stopped working for them and in some cases even the speakers and the fingerprint sensor would malfunction. Some users even reported that their phone started to overheat and exploded at the repair shop. So far, Google has issued replacement units to some users, but those with their warranty expired had to get a new battery. Google hasn’t released a statement yet but we’ll keep you posted, let us know if any of you have had this issue.

Apple permits game streaming services like Stadia and xCloud on iOS, but doubts remain

We know that Apple has been receiving a lot of criticism from companies like Epic, Facebook and Microsoft, due to their practices with their App Store. Well, one of the reasons for these companies like Microsoft to be against them was because they wouldn’t allow cloud-based game streaming services. Well, Apple just updated their App Store policies to allow these types of apps on the store, but of course they still have high demands. According to their update, “streaming games are permitted so long as they adhere to all guidelines, like submitting every update for review, developers must provide appropriate metadata for search, and games must use in-app purchases to unlock features or functionality”. Another caveat is that these services must offer Apple’s in-app payment system with the infamous 30%, meaning they’ll probably be taking a cut every time you renew your xCloud or Stadia. We’ll keep you posted to see what Microsoft and Google respond.

New certification confirms Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G specs

We’re getting closer to October, which means that we’re also getting closer to the Galaxy S20 FE. And, we’ve had multiple leaks of the specs but now, the phone just went through a TENAA certification revealing some official specs. The phone is listed with a 6.5n display, a 4500 mAh battery that will support 15W wired charging, Dual SIM capabilities, and it’ll apparently be right in between the S20 and the S20+ when it comes to the size. That’s it for the certification but, just to refresh your memory we are expecting this phone to bring the Snapdragon 865, a 120Hz display, and a 32MP selfie camera on the punch hole. A triple camera array at the back with a 12MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra wide and an 8MP telephoto with 3X optical zoom. We’ll keep you posted as we’re getting pretty close now.

Story of the day:

Apple Watch ‘SE’ in two sizes is reportedly coming on September 15

It seems that the next Apple event won’t feature the new iPhone 12

Finally, Jon Prosser just went on a tweeting spree about Apple’s upcoming products. First up, he mentioned that we’ll be getting an Apple Watch SE on September 15th. He claims that it’ll come in 40mm and 44mm variants, with the Series 4 design but, it won’t bring an always-on display, no ECG and an M9 chip. According to him, they’re listed as Apple Watch and Apple Watch Pro for the hardware engineers, but he isn’t sure if that will be the final name. Now let’s talk about iPhone, and actually bad news all around. Mass production began this week, but not with everything. Remember the ideal of getting 120hz on the display? Well that was codenamed “d6x” and it did not make it in time, so we can give up on those now. Also that iOS 14.1 won’t be finished until October 9th so that it’s impossible for them to ship the new phones until mid to late next month. According to his sources the iPhone 12 won’t be announced at this event. Finally he posted a line-up which includes, the Apple Watch SE, the Series 6, the iPad Air 4, the iPad 8 and more. No iPhone or AirPods Studio which were rumored to come out here. Of course all of these is leaks and it might be inaccurate, but…

New certification confirms Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G specs

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G has recently passed by a Chinese regulatory agency, and its new listing contains some of the device’s key specs.

Samsung has submitted the Galaxy S20 Fan Edition 5G to be checked by China’s TENAA agency. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G appears with model number SM-G7810, and it will arrive with a 6.5-inch display, a 4,500mAh battery, which is also supposed to support 15W wired charging. The device will have 159.8×74.5×8.4mm dimensions, which means that it will be a bit smaller than the Galaxy S20+, but larger than the original Galaxy S20.

The listing also shows that the device will include Dual-SIM support, but we don’t get further information. However, previous rumors suggest that it will include a 120Hz SuperAMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3. We should get a 32MP selfie camera and a triple camera setup on the back that’s supposed to include a 12MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and an 8MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

Other leaks have shown us the device’s design and a decent variety of color options for the upcoming Galaxy S20 FE. We are also expecting that this budget-friendly device will arrive with a price that won’t exceed the $900 mark. Still, Samsung has not given hints as to when we may see the launch of the Galaxy S20 FE 5G and the 4G variant.

It’s believed that this device will include the Exynos 990 and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor, depending on the market. Now, we can at least be sure that the Korean tech giant is getting everything ready for the launch of the FE and the Lite versions of the Galaxy S20. We have also started to find support pages going live in official Samsung websites and other certifications that are more than necessary before the launch of a new device.

Here’s your first clear glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G, and it looks pretty darn cool

We’ve lately been hearing a lot of chatter about a cheaper version of the Galaxy S20 flagship that might debut as the Galaxy S20 FE 5G (FE stands for Fan Edition). The device has so far remained a mystery, but not any longer, as hi-res renders and a 360-degree video of the upcoming smartphone have now surfaced online (via PriceBaba in collaboration with @OnLeaks).

The leaked renders show the Galaxy S20 FE 5G rocking what appears to be a glass and metal build with a frosted finish on the rear panel. There are three cameras at the back and a single snapper on the front housed in a centrally-positioned hole punch, much like the rest of the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note20 lineup.

Going by the design from all angles, it appears that the Galaxy S20 FE 5G will come equipped with an in-display fingerprint sensor, but there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack. The flat panel will measure somewhere around 6.4-inch, but there is no word on details such as screen resolution or refresh rate. As per recent leaks, the Galaxy S20 FE 5G will pack the Snapdragon 865 SoC ticking alongside 8GB of RAM.
