Dr. TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, has shared a few interesting details about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event.
The post Samsung sets expectations for August 11 event and reveals Note features are coming to more Galaxy devices appeared first on Pocketnow.
It seems that Samsung is getting ready to deliver new products, as the company has recently sent the official invitation for the next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event.
Samsung will be holding a virtual event on Wednesday, April 28, at 10 am ET, 7 am PT. The event will be live-streamed for anyone interested in watching the presentation of new and products, and you can watch it by following this link.
Now, the invitation has also arrived with a new trailer. This video shows the delivery of a Samsung Galaxy product, but this is no ordinary delivery. We can clearly see the impact and power that follows the path of this new device.
There is no further information as to what we may get during this event. The only thing that’s certain is that the invitation hints at the arrival of the most powerful Galaxy. Still, we’re not really expecting to see the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 to make an appearance during this new event since rumors suggest that they may arrive until July.
This makes more sense when we also remember that we won’t have an Unlocked Event for a new Galaxy Note this year. However, the last part of the video makes me believe that we may be getting closer to the arrival of a new flip phone, but who knows. We will have to wait a couple of weeks before finding out and seeing what Samsung has in store for us.

Deals. Best Buy is currently having an Apple Sale and it’s actually pretty compelling. The only requisite is to be a Best Buy Member which is free and you can get $100 off the iPhone 11, up to $500 off on the XS and the XS Max. $50 off several iPad Models and up to $300 off for the MacBook Pro. The first link in the deals will take you straight to the sale. Amazon and B&H are actually matching some of these deals like in the case of the MacBook Pro which is $300 off, leaving it at $2499 for the 16in variant. The Galaxy A51 is $50 off, leaving that at $280 shipped and, we have more deals on Beats headphones, Mobvoi watches and more in the links in the description.
We know that Google rarely, and I mean rarely, experiment with Chromebooks but, there’s a possibility that, that might change. According to 9to5Google, new code submissions show that Google might be working on a dual-screen Chromebook. The device is codenamed “Palkia” and the code clearly mentions a second touchscreen on the device. The code also mentions tablet mode so, we aren’t sure if this will be a clamshell form factor with two inner displays kind of like what we get from ASUS, or a flat out foldable with a touchscreen on the inside and one on the outside. However, a developer’s comment suggests that this device is not an OEM device and is only a prototype, so it looks like Google is testing the waters here.
We have a new vague leak from Twitter for upcoming Apple products. According to the tipster, products are ready to ship, the problem is, he didn’t specify which products. Some of the strong candidates include that re-designed iMac with the new bezels, as Ming Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple would refresh the Intel-based iMac in Q3. We’re also expecting those AirPods Studio, which were supposed to come at WWDC but, we didn’t get any hardware. Another candidate is the AirTags which were leaked by Apple back in April and are designed to compete with Tiles. We could also be getting a new iPad or a new Apple TV but, all we know as of right now is that they’re ready to ship. So yeah Tipster.. How about you be more specific next time.
It looks like Apple’s plan with the iPhone SE is working. The CIRP just released the numbers for this last quarter and, the iPhone 11 and the Pros still take about 65% of purchases, but the iPhone SE did make a dent. It covered about 19% of sales this past quarter meaning, people are still more likely to go for the newer, higher-specked iPhones but, it is taking sales from the older models. By comparison, last year the XS/XS Max and Xr took the same 65% but, the iPhone 8 and 7 took the rest of the sales, with no iPhone SE to take that extra 19%. According to CIRP’s data, a user with a phone that’s over three years old has a 73% likelihood to upgrade to the SE so, it looks like Apple’s strategy is working just fine.
And, we’ve gotten a ton of official leaks from OnePlus, including the Buds. Now, Evan Blass and 9to5Google have recovered some pictures of the Buds from the latest Oxygen OS update. We get to see the Buds in their three different color variants, Black, White and of course, Dave2D teal. The pictures show off the case from the front and back, and we get to see the Buds from behind. We’re able to see the touch controls and, the only time we’ve seen the front is from Evan’s leaks but, they look kinda weird. Moving back to official territory, OnePlus teased that these will bring Noise Cancellation for calls and ta new teaser on Instagram hints to the price tag being lower than $100. They also confirmed that the Nord will bring a 90Hz display. We’ll keep you posted as, the event is tomorrow.
We have a lot of leaks for Unpacked today so, let’s start with the Z Fold 2. Samsung UK pretty much confirmed that we will be getting this phone at Unpacked with a new teaser that says, “A new look Unfolds“. After that, Ice Universe posted a very blurry press render of the device. It shows off the new camera array which looks pretty similar to the Note, it shows the USB-C port and the speaker grill and, we can’t really see anything else from this image. According to a new Max Weinbach tweet, the Z Fold 2 will be able to use the new 6.23-inch outer display as a viewfinder, so you’ll be able to take selfies with the primary camera, instead of having to use the selfie shooter. And on that Note, pun intended, seems we also have some new leaked camera features. It looks like Pro Video will now allow you to select which microphone you want to use,.. I know, something LG came up with a while ago, but this one is even allowing form Bluetooth or USB, adding more flexibility for streamers or vloggers. It will also be able to record video in 21:9 at up to 8K. Finally, they will also be adding 50x to this phone and to the S20 Ultra as it currently just jumps from 30x to 100x.

Deals. You saw the title so, let’s begin with some Galaxy Note deals. The Note 10+ is currently $150 off on Amazon, leaving the 256GB of storage variant for $950 shipped. The S20 5G which we didn’t exactly mention yesterday is also $150 off, leaving it at $850 shipped. Moving on, the latest Mac Mini is getting that same $150 discount, meaning you can get the Intel Core i5, 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage one for $950. We also have more deals on AirPods, 4K TVs and more in the links in the description.
Microsoft just sent out some press invitations for their new Xbox Showcase Event which will happen on July 23rd at 9AM PST. You’ll be able to watch it on YouTube, Twitch and the official Xbox social media handles. We’re expecting to see some exclusive titles like Halo Infinite, Gears of War, Hellblade 2 and more. At Sony’s Game Showcase Event we got to see the PS5’s design for the first time so we do hope that Microsoft has something nice prepared for this event as well and a couple of weeks ago we heard some leaks about a more affordable Xbox Series S so we hope that happens at this event.
We’re expecting some new entry level AirPods for next year and, according to the latest research note from Ming Chi Kuo, we’re due for a design refresh. According to Kuo, the new AirPods will adopt a similar System-In-Package to the AirPods Pro to integrate the audio features into a smaller casing as, we know that the Pros bring smaller stems. These AirPods 3 are supposed to arrive in the first half of 2021 and that the current AirPods will be discontinued. This also means that the AirPods Pro should see components shipments grow from 50 to 100% due to the demand.
Speaking of Apple, let’s talk about the iPhone 12’s box… yeah the box. We have a new render that allegedly comes from a reliable source of the new box, and from the image we can tell that it’ll only bring two slots, one for the USB-C to Lightning Cable and the other one for the paperwork including the stickers that come with. We assume the second one is for paperwork because, it’s way too thin for the EarPods and for the charging brick. It also has a slim cutout at the top were we think the iPhone 12 will sit. Of course this isn’t official yet but, everything points to Apple making this move.
We have some new leaks for the OnePlus Nord as well as an official announcement. Recently Carl Pei confirmed that we would be getting OIS on the Nord’s camera and now we have more details on the actual array. According to a new Android Central report, the Nord will bring a quad-camera array that consists of a 48MP main camera, an 8MP wide angle, a 5MP macro and a 2MP portrait lens. The dual selfie camera will also bring a 32MP shooter according to the previous leaks. Now, on the official announcement, OnePlus just revealed that the event will be happening on July 21st, kicking off at 7:30PM, Indian time. To watch the event you have to download a certain application which we have more details of in the links in the description, or you can tune in via the OnePlus Nord Instagram account. You can pre-order the phone in India starting July 15th on Amazon for Rs. 499, if you buy it before August 31st, it comes with a gift box.
And finally the hottest news today is that well, today seems to be official event confirmation day. First Microsoft, the OnePlus, now Samsung. The new Galaxy Unpacked was just made official for August 5th at 10AM Eastern Time, we’ll obviously have some live coverage and a dedicated Daily so make sure you subscribe. Thing is the image only reveals that special new copper color we saw leaked by none other than you know who. And speaking of leaks, the Note 20 just went through a 3C certification so we have some IRL images of it from a tipster on Twitter. These images are of the black color variant and we get to see the new triple camera array which still includes the periscope lens. We also get to see the S Pen which doesn’t look like it has changed much from the Note 10. Some users on Twitter claimed that these were dummies but according to another tipster, this is a fully working unit and we can confirm as the tipster also shared images of the display. These show off the tiny bezels, the centered punch hole and we’re assuming that this is the Note 20 Ultra or Plus because it brings a curved display instead of the flat we’re expecting for the regular Note 20.
