Believe it or not, you can still get the iPhone X delivered by Christmas if you order it today

It's not that long ago that you had to wait several weeks for an iPhone X order to be shipped, and yet somehow, delivery times have dropped to just one day.

Long shipping queue for AirPods pre-orders

Once the Apple Store started offering AirPods for the plucking, the pre-orders started piling. The wireless earbuds started getting processed through the warehouse and now we see shipping confirmations getting leaked out by customers.

One particular buyer, who got in at about hour number two of availability, sent in their shipping notice Saturday morning. Going on two-day delivery, a box should land on this customer’s doorstep by Tuesday.

The later one got into the queue, the wait times grew along with the position. Some are now waiting weeks for $159 bits for your lugholes.

AppleInsider, which received the above screenshot, is also relaying rumors that AirPods may be sold at Apple Stores and other authorized retail outlets, possibly as early as tomorrow.

AirPods went on sale more than a month after it was promised to come onto market.

Jet Black iPhone 7 availability drops to within a day

It’s been clear to Apple and the observers around the company: the iPhone 7 will struggle to get out of its own way to excel in sales.

Supply channels have been running tight, causing weekslong waits — at points, even monthslong — for customers waiting for their new device. It was especially the case that the new and delicate Jet Black finish pulled in a good swell of demand.

Well, good news for everyone if you’re looking for an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus for the holidays: most iPhone 7 purchases come with next-day delivery or pickup. Yep, even the Jet Black variants. Direct from Apple, it’ll take around a week or so for any given iPhone 7 Plus to ship over, though there’s hit-and-miss Apple Store next-day pickup availability.

Of course, missing out on the crowds means missing out on most of the discounts that carriers have offered, but at least the products there if you happen to want it.

AirPods by Christmas? Tim Cook may have assured a customer in an email

Can we call the launch of the AirPods botched yet? Or should we give the products a chance?

As a commercial entity, Apple’s first wireless earbuds are failing on literal delivery. They were announced back in September with the iPhone 7 and the Beats Solo3 wireless headphones. Both of those products are out — the AirPods are not. Apparently, the company doesn’t “believe in shipping a product before it’s ready“.

So, how far out from announcement will the AirPods be before they are actually “ready” for delivery? Those $159 pre-orders are on the line.

Well, CEO Tim Cook has apparently addressed one customer’s concerns in an email exchange. MacRumors obtained the emails and has verified the headers that tag the email to Apple’s corporate servers. We do have to caution that such things can be faked, but other Apple executives have taken the time to address individual customer complaints once in a blue moon.

Here’s the exchange:

Customer’s comment: “Give us a release date. I really bought in to the wireless vision you painted. Now I’m stuck waiting with my EarPods but can’t charge my 7 at the same time which I need to do at work. Let us know if it’s a month or 6 months, because then I’ll just buy some other wireless headphones.”

Tim Cook’s response: “Thanks for your note. Sorry for the delay—we are finalizing them and I anticipate we will begin to ship over the next few weeks.”

Tim Cook has a little over three weeks to make sure that these wireless earbuds get to his customers’ doorsteps by Christmas.

Retail employees have also been on the scramble to stop customers from cancelling their AirPods pre-orders by, in some cases, mentioning arbitrary delivery dates.

At least one Verizon 128GB Pixel XL delayed from shipping for two weeks

What’s the issue with manufacturers underestimating demand and poorly planning out inventory channels?

Some Verizon customers are receiving a delay of shipment notice from the carrier, pointing out to them that while these people have “great taste,” that taste has meant that many people agree with them. And too many agreed to buying the 128GB Google Pixel XL from Big Red, so much so that the ol’ Checkmark is pushing delivery dates out by 15 days. This example came from a reader to PhoneArena.

Verizon is the only carrier retailer for the Google Pixel, though the phone works on all major carriers in the US. Demand for the 128GB SKUs of the Pixel and Pixel XL have proven more challenging than the 32GB ones.
