The LG G6 has changed Adam’s mind on smaller bezels, and delivers a striking first impression. Will LG have a better solution on a 2:1 aspect ratio screen than Samsung’s curvy sides? Also, let’s chat pricing! The G6 sounds a LOT more reasonable in the USA than the European pricing might have indicated.

Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch with Android Wear goes rose gold for $9,900

This is probably not what Swiss watchmaker and fashion designer Tag Heuer meant as part of a “collection” of sequels for its rookie Android Wear device effort, and it’s not exactly an early next-gen Google-endorsed timepiece in the Asus ZenWatch 3 vein either.

But technically, the latest, priciest Tag Heuer Connected edition is a new member of the Android Wear family, looking to fill the super-luxury void left by the Apple Watch Edition Series 1’s retirement. Sure, you can always opt for an Apple Watch Edition Series 2, but it’s clearly not the same thing.

Starting at $1,250, this “extravagant” upgraded iPhone companion doesn’t feel exclusive and, well, overpriced enough, turning too few heads with a ceramic case.

The Tag Heuer Connected, meanwhile, will soon arrive in physical stores only in an excessively ostentatious solid rose gold variant, setting you back an exorbitant $9,900, up from the smartwatch’s standard $1,500 MSRP, despite changing nothing about the original model’s specifications and capabilities.

You merely get a solid rose gold frame here, alongside the same old 1.5-inch 360 x 360 transflective LTPS LCD display, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, 410mAh battery, dual-core 1.6GHz Intel processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB storage, Android 4.3+ and iOS 8.2+ compatibility, gyroscope, microphone, haptic engine, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and IP67 water endurance. A good deal? Maybe for an aspiring rapper desperate for attention.

It may feel like an unnatural alliance to some, but Google’s Android Wear smartwatch platform supports both fellow Android handhelds and iPhones. Basically, if you’re not a hardcore fan of either Big G or Apple, don’t particularly understand the appeal of “iWatches”, yet still own a new or old iPhone, plus

Tissot jumps on smartwatch bandwagon, Hublot and Zenith could be next

Swiss watchmakers, including those focused on luxury products, have rapidly scrapped their reluctance towards intelligent wearables, culminating with the $1,500 Android Wear-powered Tag Heuer Connected. This apparently did much better than parent conglomerate LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) ever expected, quickly selling out its initial 15,000 unit production batch, and prompting the manufacturing of roughly 50K copies more, ...

Luxury Tag Heuer smartwatch demand exceeds expectations, ‘collection’ of sequels planned

How popular can a wearable gadget/fashion accessory be when its recommended price nearly equates the average monthly wage in Spain? Well, it obviously can’t rival “affordable” Apple Watch configurations or even way less trendy timepieces like the Moto 360 or LG Watch Urbane in terms of
