Samsung Galaxy Note 7: here’s our wish list

Samsung’s next flagship is due to drop this summer. Last year’s Note was arguably one of the best smartphones we’ve seen yet, this year’s flagships included. Samsung hit a lot of the right notes with the Note 5. Looking forward, how do you improve on that? It’s not an easy question to answer, but sure enough, our editors have some thoughts on the subject. So without further ado, here’s our wish list for the Samsung Note 6, 7, whatever.___________________________________________________________________________Adam DoudSenior Editor“No steps ...

Here’s our Windows Phone 9 wish list

Most will agree that Windows Phone 8.1 was more than just a minor point update. We even gave it a full review. It bore a ton of new and useful features which finally put Windows Phone on the map for many people. Cortana, for example, is a major win for the platform. Action Center is a no-brainer. And, right out of the gate, the Nexus smartphone will inevitably have a different course than its competition. It’s reference hardware, often with topnotch specifications; it’s typically sold at roughly half the cost of a normal smartphone; it gets first dibs on future ...

Moto X+1: here’s our wish list

I would hesitate to call the Moto X a success story. By the usual definition we tie to “successful” smartphones, the Moto X does not apply. Motorola hasn’t sold tens of millions of Moto Xs like Samsung does with the Galaxy S series every year. And it didn’t help pull Motorola out of quarter after quarter of revenue losses like the One M8 has done for HTC.Still, I wouldn’t consider the Moto X a failure either – not by a long shot. It was easily one of the most intriguing ...

Five Things I Want On the Nexus 5

Most agree that the Nexus family is the soapbox from which Google illustrates to manufactures, customers, and sites like Pocketnow what a “real” Android-powered device should be like, and roughly what an unsubsidized smartphone or tablet should cost. Google’s Nexus 4 was released in November 2012 and is the latest in their flagship line of smartphones running the Android Operating System. It was the first joint venture between Google and LG. We’ve just passed the 3-month mark on ...
