Here’s everything we saw today during Apple’s WWDC 2020

A couple of days ago we gave you some tidbits of features that weren’t exactly talked about at WWDC but are coming with the new updates and now we have some more. For example, you remember the start up chime on the Mac? Well, it’s coming back with the Big Sur update. Speaking of things coming back, Apple is reviving the Game Center on both iOS and the macOS with a new update. iOS14 is also able to detect hand and body motion to provide new features like fitness performance tracking or use emoji overlays on different scenarios. A new privacy feature let’s you give limited access to apps that ask to permission to access your Photos or other files. Let us know if you want more of these updates.

Android 11 sheds more light on Google’s upcoming Android TV dongle

Lately we’ve been getting some leaks of Google’s upcoming dongle codenamed Sabrina. Sabrina would be Google’s first Android TV dongle since the Nexus Player. Now, Google just dropped a new Android 11 Developer Preview, exclusive for this dongle. In it we have some files that make reference to Sabrina along with a new video with instructions on how to reboot it. It looks exactly like the leaked video we got from XDA where the G Logo is in the center instead of the bottom like on the case of the Chromecast Ultra. Rumors hint to this device being launched along with Android 11 so we could get it at the Pixel 5 Event.

OnePlus is making a documentary film about the journey behind creating a new phone

OnePlus has been teasing their new phone in a… different way. Let’s just say they’re taking the crown for making it unique again, cause if you remember, they were pretty much first at launching a phone with an invitation system back in the day. Today, well, first we saw their new Instagram account and now, they just put out a teaser for a 4-part documentary detailing how they made the phone. At least we think, cause the teaser seems to be more about how OnePlus came to be in the early days. The first part will apparently premiere on June 30 and it consists of different interviews and the whole creative process, but it’s not entirely clear if it’s about the OnePlus One, or this new phone that might be coming, but it’s the story of a six month process. The name for the phone isn’t completely clear yet but if you search Nord on Amazon, it lands on a OnePlus teaser. We hope we’ll get more from this documentary ahead of the July launch.

Yet another leak suggests a 108MP camera on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra  More

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G specs leaked online

Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 appears in new render

We have multiple leaks for Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked Event. Let’s start with the Z Flip 5G which just went through certification so we got some updated specs. According to this certification it’ll bring the Snapdragon 865 clocked at 3.09GHz, a 6.7in AMOLED display, dual batteries rated at 2500 mAh + 704 mAh and the usual specs from the previous Z Flip. Moving on, we have some new renders of the Galaxy Watch 3 from Mr. Evan Blass himself. Apparently this is the 45mm variant on a 22mm black leather band. We hadn’t really gotten a lot of leaks when it came to design for this Watch. Finally, we have some alleged Note 20+ case leaks that show off the new camera array and pretty much confirm the dimensions we’re expecting and, a very reliable tipster on Twitter just confirmed that it will bring a 108MP main camera. Another report also claimed that the Note 20+ or Ultra will reach 50x hybrid zoom with a 13MP periscope lens and will ditch the ToF for laser autofocus, it will also bring a 12MP ultra wide.

Story of the day:

Supply chain sources claim the iPhone 12 will launch in September

Apple’s first ARM-based Macs will be a MacBook Pro and a redesigned iMac

And finally, the hottest news today have to do with Apple’s roadmap, which includes iPhones, and also the possibility that Apple Silicon computers are not gonna be products to frown upon. Starting with iPhone there’s been numerous reports that this year’s iPhones will be delayed for obvious reasons but, the analyst that once predicted there wouldn’t be delays is now confirming it. According to him, the supply chain has gone back to normality on an impressive level, way ahead of the expectations and the report claims that this may put Apple in a position where they will be able to launch the new iPhones in their typical mid to late September frame. Now, Ming Chi Kuo did report a couple of months ago that we still might get a delay due to the mmWave variants so we still might get all the phones announced in September but not launched at the same time. Speaking of Kuo, he put out a report a couple of days ago where he said the Apple Silicon plans are kind of epic. Apple plans to launch the redesigned iMac in Q4 of this year. He says that this will be one of the first two ARM Macs that Cupertino plans to release in the fall with the second one being a 13in MacBook Pro. In the meantime, Kuo expects Apple to refresh the current Intel based iMac in Q3 but it is unclear if that model will feature the new design.

Here’s everything we saw today during Apple’s WWDC 2020

And yesterday we covered a lot of what Apple announced at WWDC but now we have some hidden gems out of the different announcements we got yesterday. Like for example, AirPods are getting Optimized Charging just like your iPhone to preserve your battery health on the long run, all as part of what you’ll see on their menu on iOS 14. And speaking of that iOS 14 now notifies you if a fire alarm or if someone rang your doorbell through a new Sound Recognition accessibility feature. You also get a notification to your phone once your Apple Watch is fully charged. Speaking of the Apple Watch, they’re removing force touch gestures from it, as the company is already recommending developers to move the elements somewhere else. On that same negative front, widgets on the iPad are either still not fully baked, or are truly limited to the Today View and they sadly only work on landscape.. I know this makes no logical sense. This is the canvas that should get widgets. Finally, we all saw MKBHD’s clip on social where he shows us the new accessibility feature he uses to double tap the back to call on the Google Assistant or other commands. Well, you can program that feature to do more like take screenshots, mute your phone and more. And guys, these are just some. Stay tuned to more on tomorrow’s video.

Microsoft gives up on Mixer, moving streamers and viewers to Facebook Gaming

Now, something huge other than WWDC happened yesterday, but this time, it wasn’t necessarily good news for everyone. Last year, Microsoft signed a lot of big names like Ninja and Shroud to their streaming platform, Mixer. Allegedly we’re talking tens of millions of dollars to sign them up. Basically Microsoft made these moves to compete with Twitch and YouTube but, apparently that wasn’t enough to get the platform off the ground. Now, Microsoft is giving up on Mixer as it will stop operations on July 22nd. If you’re a Mixer streamer and you’re worried, Facebook Gaming actually bought them out and is welcoming all of the Mixer streamers, offering them partner status and a Level Up program if they were already monetizing on Mixer. As of July 22nd, the Mixer URL will redirect you to Facebook GG. If you want to learn the specifics of the transition, we have them in the links in the description. All I can say is, for Ninja and Shroud, good for you. I guess we’ll see you back on Twitch soon.

ASUS ROG Phone 3 will be launched in July

We’ve been getting a lot of leaks of the ASUS ROG Phone 3, it was recently certified and we heard some of the specs. Now, ASUS took to Weibo to say that they are joining hands with Tencent Games to release “new energy” in 2020 and they confirmed a July launch date. Even though they did say it would happen in July, the exact date isn’t clear yet. The ROG Phone 2 was launched on July 22nd last year so we expect something similar. According to the certifications, this phone should bring a Snapdragon 865, 16GB of RAM, an AMOLED display running at 120Hz and up to 512GB of UFS 3.0 storage. We’ll keep you posted once we get the official date.

The Google Pixel 4a was found on two French online retailer websites

Well, we’re still wondering where is the Google Pixel 4a and it just appeared on two French e-tailers. It appeared on Ordimedia and eStock.fr and it was actually listed in both Just Black and Blue color variants, even if we thought the Blue color was getting scrapped. These website have the correct model numbers and they’re listed to start at 128GB of storage, which Google may have made the starting model to get an advantage over the iPhone SE. And according to this website, you can get them shipped in 8-12 business days with an ETA landing on July 12. However, we’re expecting these phones to be announced on July 13th with a possible launch date until October 22nd so this may just serve as some sort a confirmation that we could get the announcement on July 13. The price tags are €506 and €441 in the two websites and the specs are unchanged.

Story of the day:

OnePlus announces a ‘new, more affordable smartphone series’ is coming to India and Europe soon

OnePlus is “ready for something new”: OnePlus Z launch imminent?

And finally for the hottest news today, let’s talk about the other hot stuff that also happened yesterday. See, both of the OnePlus co-founders tweeted out the hashtag #NewBeginnings, along with the question “Who wants something new?”. Well, today the company just announced that they have a new smartphone series launching soon. They also took to their forums to say that this new phone is bringing the premium, flagship experience to a new and more affordable product line. They also said that this new series will be introduced in Europe and India first but they are looking to bring it to North America in the future. As for the name, we’re still not sure as we’ve been calling it the OnePlus Z for the longest time but some new leaks hinted that it could be called “Nord by OnePlus” which they trademarked back in March. It’s also supposed to cost around $330 and launch around July 10th.

Here’s everything we saw today during Apple’s WWDC 2020

Today Apple went all out on its latest event. This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference announced tons of new features and gave us some great surprises. You can find a quick summary of everything we saw today below, with the whole WWDC stream if you want to watch and links that will take you to our extended coverage.

WWDC 2020 started with Apple CEO Tim Cook explaining Apple’s efforts to fight against racism, inequality, and injustice. He invites us “to aim far higher to build a future that lives up to our ideals,” while mentioning Apple’s Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, which Apple announced two weeks ago. This initiative comes with a commitment of one hundred million dollars “to challenge systemic barriers that limit the opportunity for communities of color in the critical areas of education, economic equality, and criminal justice.”

Tim Cook also addressed the current pandemic and how it’s affecting the daily lives of people around the planet. He thanked healthcare workers for their sacrifice and efforts. He also pointed out how people are relying more on Apple products to remain connected to family and friends and how these tools are now essential for work, creativity, entertainment, and more. He then explained how this week, “There will be more than a hundred engineering-led video sessions, one-on-one consultations with Apple engineers, developer forums, and so much more.” This content will be available to Apple’s entire community of 23 million developers, and anyone interested, for free.

iOS 14

We had received several rumors about new features in iOS 14, but we weren’t expecting to get this much. First, iOS is now more powerful and easier to use. Apple’s experience has helped them improve the user experience, even as tasks have gotten more complicated.

Major changes came in several ways with iOS 14. We now have an App Library that will help you control your apps into a more simple, organized way for you to navigate. Widgets were also announced. These will be more beautiful and data-rich, plus we get different sizes to pick the one which is best suited for our needs. Picture in Picture s another new feature that will let us keep watching whatever we want while we multi-task, and we can also pinch the video to make it smaller or larger.

Siri is now getting more power and a new compact design that won’t take over the device’s screen. You can also ask Siri to send audio messages, it will allow dictation on the device, and it will also help with Conversations to translate up to 11 languages in real-time.

Other Apps such as Messages, Apple Maps, Car Play, and the App Store are also getting new features that will make conversations more fun, going places easier and more. CarPlay is now available in 97 percent of the US and 80 percent around the world. These services will also help the App Store give you a new experience thanks to App Clips that is a new way to discover apps, services ad more.

iPadOS 14

The experience in iPadOS 14 has also received improvements, as its new experience includes designs that are exclusive to this OS. It also features the same re-designed widgets that we get in iOS14, a new sidebar that woks with Notes, Files, Music, and more.

Siri is also changing in iPadOS 14, as it won’t take over the entire screen of your iPad, and neither will calls, as the incoming call notification is now a small banner at the top of your screen. Using an Apple Pencil with your iPad will be even more satisfying, as it will make handwriting as powerful as typed text thanks to Scribble for iPad, meaning that you can write anything on your device and get text as a result.

AirPods will also get a software update that will allow users to automatically switch between devices seamlessly without having to do it manually. New features such as Spatial Audio are also coming, which will be able to recreate an authentic surround sound experience, and these wireless earbuds are also getting tracking features.

watchOS 7

We now jump to the new OS for the Apple Watch. We start with the announcement of more than 20K WatchOS apps that are currently available in the App Store. We are also getting new re-designed watch faces, better performance in Maps, the Workout app, which now includes Dance workout. The Activity app is also getting a new name, as it will now be known as the Fitness app, but maybe the most important announcement was that the Apple Watch would finally get sleep tracking.

Privacy

Apple has always focused heavily on its users, and it has also improved in this area. We get more Security Protection Transparency and control, which is available on hardware and software. Apple also mentions that you can now define to give apps only approximate location data. Users are also getting a status bar indicator to let them know which apps are using the mic or camera.

Home and tvOS

We also get upgraded features to HomeKit, which is now Open Source since Apple has partnered with Amazon, Google, and other companies to create better interaction between smart home devices. You will also cards to suggest different ways to interact with your devices and visual status at the top of your home app to get a quick bird’s eye view of something important. tvOS now supports Xbox controllers, and gaming on Apple TV now expands to multi-user support, so you can continue playing anywhere right where you left off. You will also get Apple TV app support in Sony and Vizio Smart TVs this summer.

macOS Big Sur

Maybe the biggest surprise was given with macOS, as we get a new design, new symbols, consistency on icons between iOS and macOS, a new translucent menu bar, and big improvements in apps such as Messages, a new version of Maps, Mac Catalyst and Safari. Until now, the event was great, but it was just about to become amazing as Apple announced that the Mac is transitioning to Apple Silicon. This change will help Macs maximize performance while also being energy efficient.

The post Here’s everything we saw today during Apple’s WWDC 2020 appeared first on Pocketnow.

Safari on Mac is getting faster and safer with new upgrade

macOS is getting tons of new features with its Messages updates, its new version of Maps, the Mac Catalyst, and Safari is also getting better.

According to the latest WWDC 2020 presentation, Safari is now 50% faster than the Google Chrome browser. It has also improved privacy with more visibility in how each site you visit tries to track you. You get access to this information through the Privacy icon. Safari also tracks your passwords, and it makes sure none were compromised in a data breach.

Safari is also getting extensions; each one has its own button on the bar, and each extension has granular approval controls where you can choose which sites each extension can work with, giving them access: just for the one day, just for the site or to allow the extension all the time. You also get a fresh, cleaner customizable start page with redesigned tabs that are more elegant and powerful. You can also add native translation capabilities right into Safari.

Apple’s Home and tvOS are also getting interesting new features

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

Apple’s HomeKit is a software framework that lets users configure, communicate, and control smart home appliances with their Apple devices. This framework is now getting Ease of Use, Privacy, and more improvements. It will now allow for end-to-end encryption. Apple has recently partnered with Amazon Google and other companies, and it is now also open source.

This change will now allow you to tap or scan any device to add it. The card will suggest different ways to interact with a product after pairing it. You will also get visual status at the top of your home app to give you a quick bird’s eye view of something important, like turning off the lights that you forgot. iOS 14 also includes adaptive lighting, which lets you adapt the light depending on the time of day. New controls for cameras allow you to control Activity Zones, so you only get notified if people cross a specific area. It will also include Face Recognition with people you’ve already tagged on your photos app, and when people ring the doorbell, it will alert the HomePod or your available smart speaker.

New improvements to tvOS are also great, as gaming on Apple TV now expands to multi-user support, allowing you to continue a game right where you left off, and it now supports Xbox controllers. You also get picture in picture mode while you’re working out, so you can check out something else. AirPlay now supports 4K, and Apple TV is also making its way to Sony and Vizio TVs this summer.

Here’s your first official look at the VIVO X50 and X50 Pro

Oh so you thought the Galaxy S20 had a big camera hump? Well, vivo has been teasing their new X50 Pro which brings a gimbal like main camera. The company just released a new poster of the phone which shows the quad camera module with the huge main sensor. This main camera is a Samsung 50MP ISOCELL GN1 Sensor which comes with Dual Pixel PDAF tech for faster focusing, it basically rotates on it’s axis like a gimbal for better stabilization. The other cameras include a periscope, and most likely a wide angle and a macro camera. We’re expecting the vivo X50 lineup to launch on June 1.

ASUS ROG Phone III and ZenFone 7 to debut around July: Report

Back in February Qualcomm gave us a list of phones that would bring the Snapdragon 865 and, that list included two ASUS phones. It looks like both of those phones are ready to launch according to a new report from Taiwan which claims that the ROG Phone 3 and the ZenFone 7 will either in Q2 or early Q3 of 2020. Going by last year’s launch date, if they do launch in July or August they will be late by a couple of months when compared to their predecessors but, the market isn’t in the same state as it was last year. The company is currently targeting a 30-50% growth in sales for the ROG Phone 3. We’ll keep you posted in case we get more leaks.

Second-gen Moto Razr foldable phone could be launched in September

We all know how excited I was for the Moto RAZR last year, and we all know how that turned out. Well, according to Lenovo’s South African GM, the company is already working on a second generation device and it is supposed to come out in September. He actually mentioned the words “generation two” twice during a podcast while talking about the RAZR. Leaks will most likely start coming in soon and we hope it brings better specifications for the price tag, nostalgia can only go so far.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

A new DigiTimes report claims that we’ll be getting Apple’s AirPods Studio sooner rather than later. The report mentions the fact that Apple will be dropping the wired earphones from the iPhone 12’s box like we covered yesterday. It also mentions that Cupertino will resume regular shipments of the AirPods 2 in the second half of this year, which we wonder if it has anything to do with the move of production to Vietnam, but that does match the timing of the possible AirPods Studio. The company has apparently already started production for these and we could see an announcement at WWDC and they might cost $350.

Story of the day:

We may get a Periscope camera in the Samsung Galaxy Note 20+

The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 could’ve appeared in some hot looking renders

We recently got some sketches for the Galaxy Note 20′s design from Ice Universe. Now we got the first renders which were made based on that leaked design. The phone looks pretty similar to the Note 10 from the front with the very boxy design but it does bring some changes. The camera on this one has a larger hump, like the one on the S20 Ultra, the buttons are also on the right side and the S Pen was moved to the left. Like seriously, common sense changes. Now, these aren’t the official renders just yet but, this gives us a pretty good idea of what it might look like according to the sketches. Galaxy Club just found some new information and they claim that the Note 20+ will most likely bring a periscope camera. It isn’t clear if it will be the same one on the S20 Ultra and some other rumors claim that it won’t bring 100X zoom, but it pretty much explains the large camera hump for this phone as well.

Apple may have started the production of the new AirPods Studio

It's only fair to share...Share on RedditShare on FacebookShare on Google+Tweet about this on TwitterPin on PinterestShare on Tumblr

We could soon see the arrival of the new AirPods Studio from Apple. Rumors suggest that they may launch in August, but a new report from DigiTimes says that production is already underway.

“As Apple is likely to accelerate dropping its wired earphones, the vendor will resume normal shipments for AirPods 2 in the second half of the year and its new over-ear headphones, dubbed ‌AirPods Studio‌, has also kicked off production, all securing growth momentum for rigid-flex boards suppliers for the devices, including Unitech Printed Circuit Board and Compeq Manufacturing, the sources said.”

This mention of the AirPods Studio comes from a larger story focused on circuit board suppliers for the AirPods lineup, and it doesn’t include more details. We also know that WWDC 2020 will take place in a month, and we could see them make a special appearance. However, we could also get them on a separate event, or on a press release, since these over-ear headphones aren’t precisely intended for developers.

Apple’s previous 13-inch MacBook Pro, LG G8 and more, on sale today

Deals. Yesterday we get a new MacBook Pro, so as expected, Amazon has the previous 13in MacBook Pro for $200 off, leaving the 128GB variant for $1094. I know, too little storage, but buyers beware though, you’ll find the 256GB silver variant for $1299, but don’t buy it. The brand new model starts for the same price and that same storage. We’re also waiting on the LG Velvet so the G8 ThinQ is $200 off as well, which means it is currently starting at $400. Finally, if you’re looking for a fitness tracker, the Garmin vivomore HR Hybrid is $56 off, leaving it for $144 shipped. We also have deals on Roku TVs, Samsung tablets and more. Buy 13-inch MacBook Pro Buy LG G8 ThinQ Buy Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e 2019 Buy Garmin vivomove HR Buy 65-inch TCL Roku TV

MediaTek announces a its new Helio G85 gaming chipset

MediaTek has announced a total of three gaming focused chips this year. Now we get the MediaTek Helio G85 which is similar to the G80 but it includes a faster GPU. The first phone with this processor was announced last week and it is the Redmi Note 9. The G85 comes with a new 1GHz ARM Mali G52 GPU and a HyperEngine Game Technology enhancements. It also includes two ARM Cortex A75 cores running at 2GHz and 6 Cortex A55 cores running at 1.8GHz, all built on a 12nm process. It also has AI capabilities, better battery life and more features. Expect it on smartphones coming soon, we’ll keep you posted.

Apple’s WWDC 2020 starts on June 22 with an online-only, free-for-all format

We’ve been waiting on Apple to give us the exact way they will be carrying on with WWDC and they finally confirmed it. The Event will start on June 22 and it will last for a week, of course through an online event which according to them will be their biggest one, allowing all of their developer community which includes 23M people to be there in an unpresented way. You can also watch if you want by downloading the Apple’s Developers app.

Microsoft Surface Book 3 GPU details leaked. (Sorry folks, no RTX 20-series here!)

The Microsoft Surface Book 3 recently went through a certification revealing that it will bring an Intel Core i7 processor, 32GB of RAM and two screen sizes: 13in and 15in. Now we got some new info from Twitter disclosing the GPUs. According to the tipster, the 13in variant will bring an Nvidia GTX 1650 (4GB GDDR5) and the 15in variant will bring an Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti (6GB GDDR5). The 15in is also reportedly bringing Quadro graphics but there’s no more info on those, though regardless it still seems that 15-inch seems quite capable. We’ll keep you posted as these are expected to drop some time this year.

The Google Pixel 4a is already being used by top Google executives

Now let’s talk about the Google Pixel 4a. Today we get a leak from the head man himself, Rick Osterloh.. Sort of.. He just tweeted out a new image of his Earth Badge on Fitbit and the UI clearly shows a space for the punch hole on the top left corner which isn’t present on other Pixel phones. Now, one of the biggest deal breakers of the iPhone SE is the battery is good, but not great, and which we’re hoping the Pixel has a better one but his device is at 80% and it’s barely 10am for him, so either he’s a late riser, or it might not be great at all. We’re about 10 days away from the speculated launch.

Story of the day:

POCO F2 Pro Gearbest product page goes live, features teased

And finally for the hottest news today.. Sort of, let’s talk about Poco. I mean, the orignal PocoPhone was a huge deal back in 2018 due to the impressive specs for a very cheap price tag. If there’s one company that can compete with the iPhone SE, it’s this one. Two months ago the company made their first independent launch with the X2 which wasn’t released globally, now the company just put out teasers and published a new product page live on Gearbest, telling us about the launch of the F2 Pro. The teasers hint to the phone looking like the Redmi K30 Pro but being a totally different device and not just a rebranded variant, bringing the Snapdragon 865, 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Problem, well if you’ve been following other rumors, the price might be starting at €649 in Portugal with the higher tier variant going up to €749. Yeah, it seems Poco is joining OnePlus in not offering the best value proposition they’ve been known for. Apple has today announced that the 2020 edition of its Worldwide Developers Conference (stylized as WWDC20) will start on June 22. To recall, Apple announced back in March that WWDC 2020 will be an online-only event this year owing to coronavirus concerns.

WWDC20 will be our biggest yet, bringing together our global developer community of more than 23 million in an unprecedented way for a week in June to learn about the future of Apple platforms,” Apple’s Phil Schiller noted.

To keep up with WWDC20 proceedings such as keynote and Platforms State of the Union details, session, lab schedules and more, download the official Apple Developer app. Additionally, the company will also host the Swift Student Challenge for which entries will be accepted through May 17.
